As someone who loves the Laguna Beach location of Gelato Paradiso, I'm not sure how I've missed this location after many visits to Fashion Island over the years. It's located in the Atrium food court where I stumbled upon it recently. Their ice cream is very creamy and flavorful plus they give generous-sized scoops. After perusing twenty-some flavors in their freezer, the bubbly woman behind the counter took my order: 2 scoops in a cup, one of biscotti creme (cookies and cream) and one of stracciatella (chocolate chip). I went with two different flavors; the chocolate chip cookie dough and the chocolate flavor. It seemed like the chocolate was a double coco. It was super chocolatey! My favorite was the chocolate chip cookie dough though. The tiny pieces of cookie dough throughout were a nice tough. I guess I am used to American ice cream where the cookie dough is usually in balls and is sporadically throughout the dessert. But this was small pieces of cookie dough, which spread out more evenly and you got some in every bite. Win! My boyfriend got the mint chocolate chip, and he enjoyed his too. Gelato Paradiso is an incredible place to go for some absolutely delicious gelato! The lines can be long here but it is well worth the wait! We didn't even mind the line because the setting is so charming. It felt like we were at Disneyland. (Or you can come an hour or two before closing when there is no longer a line). We stayed in Laguna for the week and came here every night to try different flavors! They were all super delicious, but our favorites were black berry chocolate chip, strawberry cheesecake, dark chocolate hazelnut, Rocky Road and cookies and cream, -oh, and cookie dough too!
