The cutest silver jewelry workshop!! I had an appointment late evening. This is inside Irvine Spectrum. They were ready and set up already for us when we arrive. She was very kind and knowledgeable. We just made matching bands and I think of pretty difficult but she helped us through every step, and polished and sanded through both of the rings and perfected it for us. You'll never feel like you are lost. It is a lot of hard work though. I see a great value and making your own jewelry that lasts forever. Silver 925 it's so shiny and cute when you polish it! I came here with some friends on a late afternoon Sunday. We all went in with no expectations just that we wanted to try our hand at making something. The shop is located right next to the Hello Kitty cafe. We arrived at our appointment time and checked in. We browsed the store for a little while. There are some premade jewelry for sale as well as a bunch of cute charms to make a necklace or other accessories. We went to the left side wall to choose the stone we wanted to work with. There's a huge variety of different stones in various shapes and sizes. They're all quite thin and small but some are quite expensive so make sure you check the price tag on the back! From there, we were all seated and listened to a short presentation on the company, what we'll be doing, and how the cost works. It can be a little confusing if you're not familiar with the parts/names on the jewelry. If you're trying not to spend over a certain amount, be sure to ask a lot of questions on if something costs extra or not because it most likely will. The girl who helped us was very nice and tried her best to help us but she was helping six of us so she was spread pretty thin. The process allows you to be a part of the jewelry making process as much as possible but you'll mainly doing the simple things like applying a clear balm on the silver-I can't remember the name of it but it looks like petroleum jelly, using a mallet to size the ring, polishing, and using the torch while supervised. I was really happy with how my ring turned out and it was a fun experience but it was a long afternoon since we were in a group and it got quite costly at the end. I really enjoyed our silver smith session with Zoey! Gem Studio is a fun, crafty activity for a girls or date night. I was a bit intimidated at first but Zoey made it so easy and made sure our rings were to our liking! You first pick what you want to make (rings, necklaces, pendants etc.), then your gem, bands and details. Depending on what you want customized it's going to cost extra. You can also bring your own gems but they have a good assortment to choose from. Our session took about 3 hours. During the session we got to shape our band, use a metal torch and polish our rings. It's located at the Irvine Spectrum near the ferris wheel. It's such a random location but at least you can walk around and there are plenty of different eateries to choose from before or after your session! I will say, it is a bit pricey and you will be spending at least $100 but you are paying for the customization! read more

Made an appointment to make charms here as I received a gift card. Michelle helped us out and she was really helpful! I got a silver necklace with 5 charms, and my husband got a silver bracelet (with no charms lol). Overall the process was pretty fast and easy (took about 20 minutes from start to finish). They also welded it for an extra $5 after to keep the charms sturdy on the necklace. Overall, I loved how the charms turned out! They have lots of options for charms and chains. The only downside is that it's really expensive. For my necklace plus husband's bracelet (which had no charms), it turned out to be almost $200 including the whole process. We hadn't gotten a chance to attend sadly and it seems there were communication issues when trying to reschedule - Couple friends and I sent the deposit and reserved a date in December, but on the day of our appointment, one of them got Covid so I called the gem studio via their number on google maps to ask if we could reschedule to January. I gave our names and info, and the person who answered the call was very kind and said she moved our appointment. However I later got a text checking in if we were attending the old appointment. I responded that we had it rescheduled and asked whether info was relayed, but did not get any response. Tried sending another message to ask but also didn't get any response :( Hadn't done a third followed up after that because I didn't want to bother the number I'm sure it's a fun experience, but it is also difficult to gauge what the price of the class would have been as there's no info online about it, or how much anything is (Except the deposit, which was only like 5$) We've opted to taking a class at Methra instead via recommendations from other friends, but the gem studio seemed great for if you want to put a rock of some sort on your ring! I had such a great experience here doing a silversmithing workshop! I was able to text or call and set up an appointment and it was super easy. I ended up being the only one who booked for the morning so it was a super personalized class. I picked out my stone and what I wanted to make and they even have extra detailing if you would like it! The shop is just very customized to you. I made the setting for the stone and got to do lots of the steps and the staff would take care of the more difficult parts. My girlfriend and I made rings in the Silversmith workshop. There was a small mixup on my reservation over the phone, but they were still able to accommodate us. We actually were the only ones there on a Sunday night, so it was basically a private class. For just us two, the experience was about two hours. Sammy was very helpful and informative during the workshop. She demonstrated the equipment well and made sure we were safe handling hot objects. The jewelry quality is not the best, and it is pricy if you're just looking at the jewelry. But when you include the experience and value sentimental memories, it justifies the price. read more

Not only that but it took like 20 minutes to even start to checkout when the lady working told us the prices were higher than marketed. Not worth the money at all. The only thing you do is torch a few things and glue otherwise they do most of the work. My bracelet that was $250 looked like something you would buy for $20. It moves so slow and you do a lot of just sitting around. The girl finished polishing my bracelet and handed it back scratched. She helped push the metal down around the stone and it is rough and looks terrible. I'm sorry I just walked out of there spending $500 and mine and my daughter's bracelet and was super dissatisfied. read more

We waited patiently for one of 3 workers to come to us. No one did. So we didn't even get to learn what the whole thing was about. Maybe you only get help when you book an actual party. Do not spend your money here. The team never responded to my email concerning their workshop, which I find extremely disappointing as a customer. The workshop was not hands-on. Much of the work was done by the instructor in front of us, and when we were involved, instructions were limited to brief commands without explanation of their purpose or impact on the final product. We were hoping to learn the process and actively create, but instead often felt like observers. Time management was also an issue. The session ran about 3.5 hours, after being advertised as a 2.5-3 hour workshop, and caused us to miss our dinner reservations afterwards. A lot of this time was spent waiting without clear direction, as the instructor guided us one at a time rather than keeping us on the same step. For example, my ring sat in the pickle solution well past the necessary time, yet instead of moving forward, we were told to leave and "kill time" by walking around the shops. After coming back, we spent about 20 minutes tracing and cutting paper, which I felt could have been done while waiting. Even after that, we sat for another 20 minutes watching as a gem was forced into place, with no way for us to be engaged or productive. With better planning, we could have worked on other tasks during those wait times. Unfortunately, the final rings were not well-finished either. They ended up scratchy on the inside and crooked in placement, with little guidance provided on how to correct or prevent those issues during the process. The lack of organization and instruction was not a great experience. We spent over $300 for very mid-quality rings. read more

Took my teen daughter and her best friend to make charm bracelets for their birthday. It was a fun experience and I liked how they actually got to assemble the charm bracelet themselves. Unfortunately, less than 20 minutes after leaving my daughter noticed a charm fell off. Thankfully she found it so we returned to get it put back on. In the time it took to walk back another charm fell off. We didn't find that one so we had to pay another $5 to replace that charm (after spending over $125 for one bracelet). The employee tightened all the charms so we were hopeful they would stay on. Nope. Both girls have had another charm fall off less than 3 days after getting them. They did offer to zap the charms for an additional $10 but we paid close to $300 for the 2 bracelets so we definitely didn't want to spend more. In addition some charms are already tarnished. It's a great concept but a lot of money for a subpar product. The "zapping" of the charms should be included for that price and an employee should probably check that all charms are clamped down properly before the client leaves. read more
