Fine foods is a direct and accurate way to describe Gemelli's, while I found the prices to be slightly higher than the average, it accurately and fairly corresponds with the quality of food they are selling. Just spent $50 on two steaks here. That's fine, they're rib eyes are always worth it. However, I was gonna get cold cuts for the week and they were complaining that they "sprayed down all the machines". They guy then says, "it's up to you but they got spray all over them", whatever that meant. They weren't closing for another half hour. The owners could close an hour earlier, but then they'd still stop working a half hour sooner, then what's the point of even running a business?! read more

For lack of a long story. The service was ehh. They delivered our apps to the wrong table. That was fun. Then the apps came and they were good. Our food came out and my son liked his food. My wife said hers was good but it was under seasoned. Added some salt and walla much better. I had chicken parm with pasta. Sounds extremely simple. But there is a butt. The chicken was under cooked ( thin sliced chicken). The pasta was cooked well but the red sauce literally tasted like ketchup. They cleaned the table and all of the pasta alomg with some chicken was left on my plate. They did not ask if it were to be wrapped or anything they just took a plate of pasta and chicken left on it. We frequented here in the past and came back to have a nice family night with good food. I can't say I would not reccomend but how do you mess up red sauce and chicken parm. Not looking for anything and do not wish any contact. Lesson learned. I can't say I don't reccomend but I will not be going back. What stinks is I use thier deli for all gatherings I have at my house. Clearly diffferent chefs. read more

We walked out 3 minutes after we sat down. There was an incredibly annoying, in-your-face, lounge singer in an empty room singing way too loudly. Found this spot by accident. I was going to a diner near here and they closed early. Then I just started to walk around and saw this spot. Its like a unique grocery store & deli in one. I ordered one of their special sandwiches. I got the hot chicken chipolte sandwich with blue cheese and bacon. It was so good. I also picked up a few B & W cookies.. Yum Yum.. The only downside was there is NO place to eat inside or outside. So this is all take-out food. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to of found this spot. read more

I called Gemelli's on the Tuesday evening before Christmas, asking for what I thought was the impossible. I needed about 30 specialized gift baskets for the next morning! They worked on assembling the perfect baskets, with high quality content, until late in the night. I picked up all of the baskets that I ordered and was able to deliver them to my clients before Christmas! All of the recipients were very happy. This is the type of service that you can't get at one of the the big "supermarket" type "specialty" stores that are popping up. Gemelli's catered my wife's birthday party. The food was beyond fantastic! We had so many compliments from our guests. The skirt steak was, by far, the most popular. By the time I had a moment to eat -- which was about 4 hours after the food was set out -- the steak was still tender and delicious. In fact, some guests commented they loved the boneless ribs -- if that gives you any indication of the tenderness and taste. The chicken and vegetables was our second biggest hit. My wife ate the most of this. Even at midnight when we got hungry again, she ate more chicken and vegetables. The turkey meatballs were divine. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the mini cannolis. Two words -- one repeats.... Yum! Yum! If you are considering a caterer for a special event, Gemellis is the only place to call. I ordered from Gemelli's for a party that we had for a first birthday. I did a lot of research trying to find the best prices. What I liked so much was that if you order over 3ft in party hero's, you receive 1lb of salads for every foot. That's a great deal and no other businesses really do that anymore. Everyone loved the hero's and the salads.. honestly the potato and macaroni salads were the best I have ever had. The hero's were so fresh too. Had food catered for Easter. Got the usual suspects. Chicken, pasta, vegetables. Everything was completely inedible! I was in shock. Worst of all, my guests were in shock i would have my dinner catered by a place that was in fact THAT bad! The chicken was so thick and rubbery floating in what they call a francese sauce. Gemelli's makes me grin in the way only things that I love to hate and hate to live can. It might be overpriced and underfresh, but I haven't noticed and likely wouldn't care. I gush whenever I pass by, mainly because I like being able to find Italian products that -- even in the current gastronomic climate -- are difficult to find elsewhere even with a discerning eye and relentless exploration. Everything seems top-notch beyond reproach, much like Lombardi's Market, but I've yet to perform a meticulous price comparison (if someone's footing the bill, I'd be glad to do so). Subscription & comments on their site are botched; I was hoping to get on the e-list and heads up on some specials before visiting, but alas, I still return almost religiously even if just for an item or seven. Leaving one star open because trying 20% of the offerings here does not warrant a true 5, and I don't eat meat. They have revolving specials for which I convince myself frequenting it regularly is warranted. Italian cheesecake is normally a dealbreaker for me, the see-all-end-off, call-all-bets-off of Italian restaurants and grocers that I'd liken to seeing your girlfriend picking her nose on the LIE. I had so much faith in Gemelli's that I opted for their Mama Gemelli Cheesecake, which I found superior to most I remember (mind you, my last experience was years ago) and at a lower price -- I know I should be weary of the "special" moniker here, but whatev'. That being said, $4.50 got me a solid, quick lunch, with a sizable amount of food that also included a wildly good garlic knot/mozzarella/pesto sandwich for $2.50. The staff is persistently friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, leaving customers in good spirits and more willing to purchase more than they may need...not that there's anything wrong with that. read more

I love Gemmelli's. It reminds me of a little Italian Shop in Bensonhurst. Everything is fresh and wonderful. They have a small mini-mart with fresh produce, condiments, fresh breads that sell very fast, premade sandwiches and salads as well as a very large and extensive deli, dinner fare/ salad counter. There is always a line that moves very fast. They have premade sauces for us that are not in the mood to make our own bolgnese as well as fresh pastas. There selection is extensive. THIS IS A GREAT SHOP!! It's nice where you can buy your lunch and then drive down the road and sit over looking the bay enjoying a well made sandwich or salad. read more

Ordered a hero platter and salads for my family's Christmas lunch party that I have been doing this for the last 3 years. I have been a regular customer for about the same time. They are very pricey, but I do not mind paying for a good product. This year was a little different. The store was very busy, we had about a 1hour wait on line to pick up platter ( again don't mind, tis the season). A man approached the counter and stated his name was Anthony C*****a and to tell Joe, that I am not waiting on this line, and if I can not pick up my order now to cancel it. As we are still waiting on line, we see Anthony leave with his order. WTH! We still picked up our order, and then called the next day to let them know they forgot to give us our condiments, and also to let them now that it was messed up to have this guy who drops a name cut the entire line. Long story short, Spoke to Joe and said how unhappy we were with the missing items and the name dropping we may not be coming back. His words were, If I lose 1 customer out of 50 it doesn't matter. A friend and I dined at Gemelli's Saturday night. Dinner was wonderful and our bartender, server, Michael, was so friendly and yet professional. We asked for wine recommendations and were really pleased with Michael's offerings. We were so distracted by the beautiful surroundings and excellent service that when we left, my dinner partner left her purse behind (with A LOT of money in it). Half an hour later we discovered the purse missing and called Gemelli's. The owner, George, who had come to our table to personally greet and chat with us, knew immediately why we were calling and said to come back right now and retrieve the purse (it was already after midnight). He waited for us and returned the purse with everything intact. So, in all, not only a very pleasant evening with wonderful food and service, but SO HONEST! Expensive, but you get what you pay for. The food is the best around as well as the selection. As close to real Italian food as you will get on Long Island. The store is very clean and they keep their slicers clean ALL THE TIME unlike most deli's. I would have given it 5 stars except that it is pricey. really great deli. They have both a deli and a restaurant further down the block, this is the deli. Definitely expensive, I typically have to put the purchases on a credit card! Unfortunate Experience: I have patronized this establishment multiple times for personal catering, e.g. birthdays, christenings, etc. When my company was looking to cater an employee luncheon, I quickly thought of and suggested Gemelli's. The food has always been delicious. HOWEVER, this time we were quite disappointed. Not only was the food delivered a half hour late (they argued this was our fault) and when it finally did arrive, it was warm, not hot, as promised. In addition, the skirt steak was RAW. When we contacted Lou, the owner, it was like hitting a brick wall. Our hourly employees were on the clock with no lunch. In addition, Lou's response to the undercooked meat was that he "would cook the meat again if we brought it back to him." Is he kidding??!! Want to see the pic?
