Have had multiple performance engines done, and several cylinder heads gone through by this shop…read moreand all were done timely, affordably, the performance engines handled more abuse than they should have. Will use them again in the future.

I have 39 years of engine building experience. Used their shop before to bore/balance a…read morestreet/strip motor and their workmanship was pretty good. Most recently though (July 2023) I dropped off a 1967 numbers matching 383 super commando block with heads and almost 3k in rotating assembly parts (F steel crank, Icon F pistons and Eagle H-beam rods). Didn't bother the shop because I know good work can take time. Two weeks in I get a call that my cylinder heads are cleaned and ready for me to port them before valves and hardened seats are installed. Gave them $400 cash, which is way more than the cleaning/mag check was worth, towards total bill since I was taking the heads out of shop for a short time. The owner of the engine wanted higher compression so I returned a different pair of heads to the shop for the same treatment. When I did, I was informed that the numbers matching/virgin block had to be sleeved (Machinist error) and I wouldn't be charged for the service?! A Mopar 383 can be bored.080 over with no problems more if sonic checked. I was only boring this motor.040 over. They should have never sleeved the block without first contacting me. Purchasing new pistons would not have been an obstacle. The final boring of the sleeve was also poorly machined as the ridge at the base of the sleeve disappeared on one side of the bore. Kept my cool, told them thanks for being honest and left. Returned two days later with two more 383 virgin blocks and told them that the machinist that ruined the first block (Owner's son) wasn't to touch these two. We unloaded them on a cart at the shop door. Returned 5 days later and my blocks were still on the cart next to the shop door untouched. Told them that I was taking all of my parts out of their shop and that the block they ruined was theirs to keep. Left the crankshaft because work had been started on it. You can use a re-sleeved motor but, not for the purpose that I was building it. Got back to my shop and inspected the cylinder heads and found that only five of the valves had been replaced. No matter how well you clean them, old valves will have carbon pitting. Didn't receive a call on the crank for 3 weeks so I called and when I did It just so happened to be ready that day. When I got to their shop I wanted to see the work order for the cylinder heads and the tech that did them (the owner's other son). The work order said 16 new valves and a work total of $848.00. When I told him that he did not replace all 16 valves, he bald face lied and said that he did. I told him that he had just lied to me and that he had no integrity. He became clearly upset. When I told him how long I've been building engines and that he only replaced five valves (the exact number of his deception) his expression became blank and he was lost for words. He then couldn't remember which heads they were and wanted to see them. He was "pretty sure" he replaced them all ect. ect. Either you did or you didn't simple as that. They tried to charge me for my old vales. Told them that their shop had just earned all the free advertising I could give them, paid for the crank work, not the heads and told them I didn't need a receipt because we are Done. Use this shop at your own risk
