I went to the jewelry store yesterday not my first time there to have some repairs done . I'm 70 years old. I had a couple of charms came off my bracelet. I needed a tongue ring backing. Just some little simple things here he comes out with his diamond checkered, checking the diamonds I'm not asking for diamonds. A small find at my local church rummage sale, this old Pink Panther caught my eye. Running or not, the nostalgia alone was worth the $1 asked! I was looking to get a small Catbird ring with three diamonds sized up. (If you're familiar w Catbird they have very delicate jewelry, I didn't have the luxury of shipping it back to CB and waiting for a repair.) I called ahead to ask if they repaired rose gold, and a lady kindly gave me a very affordable quote for price (options of either thinning the band or adding a bit more gold). She also told me they could do it same-day. Came in the next day and she remembered me from the phone call! She took the ring to the back of shop to confirm they could resize it, then came back to confirm with me what size I wanted. She told me it would be done in an hour - I returned on the dot and the ring was perfectly resized, cleaned and ready to go. I was honestly skeptical of all the 5 star reviews but now, I completely get it. I have never had a jewelry repair done this fast, reasonably, and flawlessly. The customer service was great, she was really nice and patient, helping me check on sizers while i was deciding to size up or down. There's no repair seam or lumpiness like I've had with other jewelry repair shops - it doesn't look like anything was done to the ring. & I really appreciated that he made sure to maintain the integrity of the delicate setting, as well as the CB mark and 14k stamp. NOT happy right now. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially to a business that I've been a loyal customer to for years. This necklace has been a family heirloom which is why it's visited Gems whenever I break it instead of just replacing it. I've paid $10 here and there over the course of almost 5 years to them because I trusted the sweet couple that owns Gems. I got lucky this year and only broke it once. So I took it to get fixed, paid the usual $10 and went about my day without even looking at it because they've never disappointed me. I get home to put it on and it's seared. Not just a little spot, the entire chain has sear marks every inch. I understand people make mistakes and I would not be leaving this review if the would've told me. I had acquired an antique ring from my grandmother... gorgeous gemstone set in yellow gold.... a stunning piece, only problem it was much to big to fit my hand so it sat collecting dust in my jewelry box. Then I broke the clasp of my mother's pearl bracelet... ooopsies. Plus, my watch needed batteries like last year. Needing to fix this, I figured why not fix all pieces at the same time. I heard about Gems and figured this would be the perfect place to check out and hopefully do business with. The shop is antique-ish and cute. Family owned by a darling older couple. I brought my pieces in, got some recommendations and price quotes. The bracelet could not be fixed with the same clasp that it originally had and the man was not so keen on wanting to restring it, I opted to just give my mother money to fix as she she wishes. I proceeded to have my watch batteries changed on the spot and the ring re-sized and detailed. A few days later I was back to pick up my ring which looked stunning and fit like a charm. My annoyance was that the guy said, "You came too early" (Came in at 10:20AM, they opened at 10) for an order that was suppose to be picked up today (4/7, dropped off 4/5). The only improvement I'd suggest is that they give you a specific time to come back so customers don't wait an extra 30 min. Aside from that little hiccup, Gems Jewelry is legit. They replaced my Michael Kors & Fossil watch battery at $10 a piece. They also resized my ring (smaller) for $15 totaling $35 for all 3. I think that's a fair deal. I'm sure prices vary for each customer depending on the product. The ring came back shiny & looked brand new. They are very friendly & kept apologizing for the delay. So all was good. They did a fantastic job resizing my ring. Also, the store had a bunch of legit jewelry from Gucci necklaces down to Movado watches. I'd come back here for all my jewelry troubles. Well, my mom was in town over the holiday and she told me that one of her rings was getting tight. She said it had been tight for about a week but it was now starting to hurt. The couple (I didn't get their names) was helpful and full of great advice. They gave me some ideas on where to engrave & which fonts & sizes would be best. Sometimes when I walk into a jeweler or a Things Remembered-type store, I feel uncomfortable because I need to pry for information. This was definitely not the case. Both of them were so sweet and honest with me. They tell you the pricing right at the beginning and help you through what you'd like to do every step of the way. They even gave me their professional opinion on engraving on the watch strap vs back of watch face, which was something I wasn't sure about. I was so grateful to hear their thoughts on it. I wrote out the message I wanted engraved on a sheet of paper they provided and exactly where I wanted it on the watch. It turned out beautifully & just as I envisioned it! Thanks, Gems! Personally, I've always thought that engraving a present makes it so much more personal and special (even if it's just someone's initials), so I'm definitely gonna come back for any future engraving needs. read more

The location is slightly sketchy because it is right next to a bus stop where homeless people frequently sit, and the door to the shop is locked and the owner has to buzz you in from the inside which is understandable. I came here to have one of my watch batteries replaced in my Tissot. The owner help me out right away and quoted a price of $12. Compared to other places where I've been before it was a very competitive price. Her husband then got to work and within 10 minutes my watch battery was replaced, set to the right time and date, and I was ready to head out.
