It's what I imagine the modern factory cafeteria would be like if we still worked in factories. They do carry more costly items brought in from the outside (e.g. Urban Remedy). No time is wasted here by cafe employees on unnecessary small talk. It's unlikely someone will ask you how your day is going. No tips are expected or allowed. There is no added surcharge for Healthy SF. This morning, I spent $8.42 for a breakfast of scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links, breakfast potatoes and a scone. The hot meal cost $5.50 and the scone was only $2.75. Where can you find a single scone in SF sold for $2.75 in 2026?

I've seen jerk chicken, Filipino adobo, chipotle style bowls, salmon, sometimes even prime rib. There is always a salad bar available. There is always fries and chicken tenders. Also most days the grill will have burgers made to order. Fountain drinks are all sugar free, ice tea, lemonade, sparkling water, etc. They also serve with a smile and "hello". It's a cafeteria, tables get filled up during lunch hours. If you're a patient, give it a try! If you work there, you're probably tired of this place. The food is not bad. Decent cheap quick bite.

You just place the order yourself, pay and pick it up from the counter. They only use to-go containers there but they're all compostable and pretty much everything they use is recyclable too. When you sit there to enjoy lunch, there's a nice conversational buzz going on there and the place is very well lit, gives a very nice and enjoyable ambiance there. As for the food, it's decent but could be better. I just had a Veggie/Wonton/Tofu Udon soup, noodles were ok but the soup was a bit bland and some of the veggies could've been cleaned better or not been in the soup at all. Good thing there's hoisin and sriracha to add more flavor to the soup. Their chicken marsala was pretty good too but the sauce didn't match the chicken, there could've been more flavor soaked in to the chicken. Service is quick and not much interaction with the staff so I won't know much about that. The coffee there is pretty good but the caramel macchiato was super sweet. I'll definitely ask for less caramel next time. Barista there were very friendly and quick with service, A+ for them on that. Final Thoughts: Will definitely be back here to try other things but not when it's a lunch rush since it'll be harder to find a seat.

Even though it is catered by Cafe Bon Appetit, the food seems to be of higher quality than the other cafeterias. There is more Asian influence in the food choices here, which explains why the food is better. Asian food is good for the soul and body. Not bias at all... :P My favorites are Indian food, desserts on Fridays at Savor kiosk, steak skewers (sometimes), kombocha on tap, some of the noodle soups and acai bowl. :D

The food here really reminds me of one of the more disappointing dining halls I had on campus back in college. They have different sections here that rotate what they serve every day - the grill is usually some type of burger/sandwich with fries, saute has somebody stir frying some meat/veggies along with some form of carb, and the market usually has the "chef's special". + Saute: Usually overly oily and either overly salty or tasteless. I would avoid this station if you decide to come to the cafeteria - after one or two tries, I never came back to this station. + Grill/Burger: Just about everything I've seen them make here is frozen. Not the greatest feeling in the world to watch them make your food (it looks like they're dumping blocks of ice into the fryer). I remember one time I also waited over 30 minutes in line for something from this station - definitely not an acceptable wait time. They recently started offering grilled steaks and other meats, which I would also recommend avoiding. I tried the steak and it was lacking flavor and also had a good amount of inedible fat. + Market: This station usually has the special for the day. They usually have one meat option and one vegetarian option, and this could be good depending on what day it is. More often than not though, it's disappointing. The only thing I liked here was the roast beef (or similar meat) plate with veggies and potatoes. Everything else is pretty subpar to me. + Pizza: You would think pizzas are safe and can't be messed up. They mess it up here. The crusts are over floured with raw flour and the flavors I would expect from the ingredients that are on the pizza elude my taste buds. Imagine cardboard with pizza toppings and no flavor profile. Don't expect large or adequate portion sizes from any station either. They seem to be pretty stingy with their portions and scoops. While the convenience is great if you're working at Pacific Shores, I have made it a goal of mine to avoid eating here as much as I can. The food quality isn't worth the convenience for me - I would much rather take the time to go out for lunch with my team or order something online.

Come early if you want your fruit salad to not just be cantalope and grape. The soup is good sometimes. Especially the African peanut thing. There's also free fruity water.

I'm glad that they have a fruit drink option for the boba too just because I always find it weird just eating boba alone (...but I still do it). As for the food, just as the other reviews say, it's just like Panda Express. They have pretty decent entrees to choose from (even had duck once but it was a bit dry for me). Desserts are not the best, but I find that to be a campus wide problem. If you come later, towards the end of lunch, they will pile on the servings for Chinese. Food that is not cooked fresh tends to dry out. Great outdoor patio seating (avoid the tables directly under the trees as insects tend to drop down and bite you). The cafeteria is split between Asian area and the rest with seating in between. Great color choices for the decór. Their tall cups also fit perfectly in the tray return...unlike the ones in Bldg 33. My second favorite place to go for lunch on campus!

The breakfast was not bad. They had an egg and cheese sandwich on their menu (no picture), and it was relatively inexpensive. When I asked is it scrambled, the cook said she could cook it anyway I wanted. She quickly scrambled some eggs, toasted the muffin, and breakfast was had. Simple, inexpensive, to the point....not bad. Lunch was a double cheeseburger. The same cooks, but now more of them due to the "lunch rush." Again, the cooks are very friendly. They are prompt, take special orders, and run it with the efficiency of a busy greasy spoon. The double cheeseburger was basic, I could say "nothing special," but again for a Federal Building cafeteria, the burgers actually tasted like.....beef (rare for quick service places, so credit on them). The fries were thinner (I prefer thick), but each order of fries is literally fried to order, so they were hot and crispy. Overall, the prices, considering we're in San Francisco and stranded here due to whatever brings us here, are fairly reasonable. The cashier at lunch ahd a little attitude, but the breakfast cashier was very sweet. If you are stranded here or don't want to go through the ID and x-ray check line again, then it is not bad for breakfast/lunch to hang around.
