I came here for Thanksgiving to pick up some ham, corned beef and pastrami. I would highly recommend this over The Honey Baked Ham store as their food is pretty good. They used to have more locations, so I have fond memories of their food. They were open on Thanksgiving Day from 9 am to 2 pm. The line actually wrapped around inside the store when I came around 12:30, however I got to the right within 30 mins. So that's not bad compared to other places. You can park on the street or their lot behind the building as they have a small lot . As I mentioned earlier I got half a pound of half a chicken, ham, pastrami and corned beef. Sides where am additional $3 if you were doing the dinner specials. They also had so specials for that day , like a Turkey dinner with two sides. They gave us a tray for all our food which was super helpful when carrying it back to the car. Our favorite was the corned beef and the ham. The pastrami was good but there was some parts where it has too much fat. The chicken was ok, it was just expensive for the size. I think the next time we come back we'll just get the corned beef and ham. I hope to make this our go-to spot for our next Thanksgiving dinners in the years to come .

Chick N Coop is aesthetically pleasing if you like Kmart in the 80's type of cafeterias. At least they have a TV. They had the Ohio State vs. Indiana Big Ten Championship game on. We had 1/2 chicken dinner $18, roast beef dinner $20, turkey dinner $21 and spare ribs $20. It tasted like high school cafeteria food. Would we come here again? Sure.

I've been eating at Chicken N Coop since Moses wore short pants. With the former locations being by my house in Excelsior and one near my high school on Taravel way back when. So coming here is nostalgic, the old school dining area, the 25lb plates that would survive the apocalypse, brown trays to hold all your sides, entrees, and utensils on. It's fallen out of favor with many people thru the years but not with me. I like instant gratification as I watch them carve the protein in front of me and put it on a plate. Scooping and dropping a few sides on my tray. Why would anybody eat fast food when they could get a delicious hearty plate of food from a Hofbrau for the same price? I'll never understand. But here at Chick N Coop, they give solid portions of food. The food is well seasoned. The staff are super friendly veteran employees that know what they are doing. The owner is part of a generation that understood what a Hofbrau style establishment was. Large portioned, quality food, consistent customer service, and enough dining area for a family of eight! I ordered a corned beef sandwich and a roast beef/turkey combo plate with mashed potatoes and Mac n Cheese. Everything was awesome. Once these Hofbrau/carvery style/cafeterias are gone, that will be it. So cherish the times we have eating with family and friends at places like Chick N Coop.

Roast Beef dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, potato salad, and a dinner roll

The food was tasty and the servers were very patient with us, as it was our first time there. My husband got the roast beef sandwich and loved it. He got mashed potatoes with gravy and potato salad as his sides. He got rice pudding for dessert. I got a roast beef sandwich with Mayo. I asked for the sautéed onions they had at a different meat station and that hit the spot. My sandwich was pretty good, only thing missing was a slice of provolone cheese, that would have topped it off. I had a side of mashed potatoes, no gravy, and they were tasty. The inside reminded me of the 1970's and I loved it! I also loved the hanging wagon wheel. The food was reasonably price, our meals with two pops cans to $40. If you are looking for some good comfort food, this is the place. We will stop again sometime.

Delicious food, large portions, friendly staff, clean restaurant, and fair prices. Everything is expensive nowadays. Here, you can get a large and hearty sandwich or meal for less than $20. Fast food costs about the same. I love the chicken and turkey the most because other places make it too dry. Not here! But their ribs and roast beef are also so tender and juicy. Everything is good and flavorful. Just simple, good, comforting dinner. This place has been here for decades, and I hope they never leave.

Old school hofbrau on the edge of Daly City with friendly staff. We'd been doing house chores all day and didn't have time to cook anything by the time dinner rolled around. And we were hungry! My husband and I both ordered a full turkey dinner, with mashed potatoes and green beans, accompanied by giant dinner rolls with foil-wrapped pats of butter. It was almost the end of dinner service so no more dark meat for me. Next time we'll try to come earlier. I also ordered a side salad for sharing but I ended up eating it all. I was THAT hungry. We ordered our iced teas from the drinks stand within the restaurant. The restaurant is quite large with interesting decor. Mostly empty on a Sunday evening but we weren't alone. And we did see a few customers order whole chickens to go.

Chick N Coop has been around forever--or at least since I was a kid in South City. Back then, it was part of the weekend routine. After church, if we weren't eating out, my dad would stop by and grab a whole rotisserie chicken, some ribs, a few sides, and we'd take it all home. No fuss, no plates that cost more because they came with garnish. Just solid food and the comfort of eating it in sweatpants at the dinner table. We were back in Daly City recently visiting my sister, and my mom randomly said she was craving Chick N Coop. We hadn't been in years--since my dad passed five years ago, actually. So we went. Walking in felt like stepping into a time warp. Same counter. Same trays. Same everything. The kind of place that didn't need a rebrand because it already knew what it was. It was weird being there again, older now, sitting next to my mom who's also a little slower these days, talking about how this was dad's favorite spot. It hit us all harder than expected. Like, this place isn't just a hofbrau. It's a little piece of memory still standing while everything else moved on or shut down. The food's still good--nothing fancy, but that's the point. Chicken's still juicy. The ribs still slap. Sides are exactly how you remember them. It's the kind of meal that doesn't pretend to be more than what it is, and that's why it works. Places like this don't need hype--they just need people who remember. And we do.

I've been going here since I was a kid literally over 30 years. I've moved to the East Bay but every time I go to visit family I hit up the chicken coop. I can say it's honestly been consistent forever. Yesterday I was extremely disappointed. My salad was at least a day old. It was so soggy and gross. The rice pudding was watery and the rice wasn't even cooked. I can honestly say my turkey sandwich was good a little light on the turkey but no problems with that. I hope it was just a once off because I really do enjoy this place and it's been around forever.

I'll risk it. Plus, SerraManila is continuing their glow up with the upcoming opening of Haidilao, Fogo de Chão, Bloomingdale's, and more. Still no Potato Corner tho. Anywho. * Seafood Boil For One ($15.98) - Choose two: Crawfish, shrimp, mussels, clams, or sausage - Includes rice, potato, and corn - Spice level: Mild, medium, or hot My pick: Shrimp & Sausage, HOT The highlights were the soft red potato, sweet corn kernels, and perfectly cooked white rice. The main event was ehhhh - the 5 pc head-on shrimp was overcooked and dry, while the sausage turned out to be sliced hot dogs. À la carte, the shrimp is $19.98/lb; IMO, overpriced for the size and quality. I think they may use their Nashville chicken spice mix for the Cajun sauce. It's savory, very oily, and mild for "hot". I wish they added fresh garlic to boost the overall flavor. Since you have to drive to Man Jose for good Cajun seafood boils, Burnin' Mouth is worth a try if you're in the area. Ordering is super easy since everything is done through a kiosk, and my order was ready in about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. I ordered the original Korean fresh corn dog with a few sauces, and it was really good. I didn't realize the sauces would be added directly onto the corn dog rather than served on the side, so the flavor combo I picked didn't quite work together the way I expected. That said, it was still tasty overall and not a deal-breaker. I also got the sweet chili K-popcorn chicken, which was juicy, flavorful, and probably my favorite item. Overall, it's a solid spot to grab a quick snack. My only wish is that there was an option at the kiosk to request sauces on the side, which would make customizing orders a lot easier.

BON BON CHICKEN: SFO-NY-SFO in 15 minutes!!!…read more Ever since my first experience with Bon Bon Chicken (Korean Fried Chicken) in NYC two years ago, I became obsessed with chicken wings. If wings were on the menu, I had to order it. It was so bad that I had one of my friends be my D.W.S aka Designated Wing Stopper on the weekends to avoid drunk eating. When I was grocery shopping in Kukje Supermarket yesterday, I noticed that there was new Bon Bon chicken stand inside called, Only Chicken. Of course, it was calling my name... :X Only Chicken makes your wings-to-order which takes 10-15 minutes. They also have packaged ones sitting under the heat lamp. Order your wings-to-order, TRUST ME. MENU: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vQPe9CHILZ8OBZkQGNjJnw?select=FDzFQzuvWISgnq9wiiU4Ew FRIED CHICKEN *Choose from Wings, Drumettes or Boneless Strips (5 pieces - $4.99), Whole Chicken ($7.99), Leg or Thigh (4 pieces-$4.99) *6 Flavors (Mix & Match): Original Spicy Mild, Original Spicy Hot, Pepper with Salt, Teriyaki, BBQ Sauce, Honey Mustard, Sweet & Sour, and Garlic Parmesan SPICY CHICKEN *Choose from Wings, Drumettes, or Boneless Strips (6 piece - $5.99, 12 piece - $9.99, 24 pieces - $18.99) *4 Flavors (Mix & Match): Hot Spicy, Mild Spicy, Soy Sauce Spicy, and Garlic Parmesan Hot Spicy With the owner's recommendation, I decided to order the Spicy Wings - Hot Spicy as he said it was the Korean Style Bon Bon chicken. For those who are familiar with CocoBang's Chicken Wings, the Spicy Wings - Hot Spicy is very similar except these wings are much BETTER! If you're not, then you're probably familiar with San Tung's famous "crack" wings. They are similarly fried, but instead of being tossed in a glaze, the "Hot Spicy" wings are tossed in a thick korean hot sauce. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vQPe9CHILZ8OBZkQGNjJnw?select=mdAu2SdM91KNX8d7aEWpMw The MOUTH-WATERING Spicy Wings - Hot Spicy are the closest chicken wings to the Bon Bon Chicken Wings I've had in NYC. The huge wings are fried to a crunchy crisp (non-greasy) and tossed in a rich, tangy, and spicy sauce with a slight garlicky sweetness. They're so incredibly tender and succulent that juices oozed out of the wings as I took each bite! I'm spicy food lover, and the "Hot Spicy" was more like a mild medium to me. As you take a bite, you can feel a slight tingle of heat hit your palate, but it quickly dissapates after several seconds. The only drawback is once the wings start to cool, they absorb the hotsauce and loses its crispiness. So make sure to devour them piping hot! Being able to get my Bon Bon Chicken FIX with a quick 10 min drive to Daly City? Very, very dangerous...

2.5 STARS - My review is for the pre-packaged chicken only…read more During a recent visit to Kukje, I noticed they had Korean Fried Chicken! Since I'm a sucker for chicken wings, I had to try it! I ended up getting the Hot & sweet chicken ($7.99) which came with about 10 wings. Maybe I should have gotten the wings to order, since I wasn't impressed by these wings. They weren't crispy at all. Instead they were mushy and the coating was soggy. Probably from sitting under the heat lamp. I will give them another shot though since the other types of chicken also looked amazing! Just next time, I'll get it made to order!
