    Halfway done. Yummy!

All the food here are made from scratch. Why? Because this restaurant is run my city college students. Here, they need to learn how to make everything from scratch in order to graduate and work in an actual restaurant or hotel and what not. They have breakfast lunch and dinner times open from a certain time period so get here on time. Many of the foods here are good like the burrito :) Although the chicken wings are good, they are quite expensive and really really small. Lots of seats around but may be noisy. If you're a city college student, come on down and check out the food culinary students made!

Since I work on the CCSF campus, I eat lunch here almost every Monday, and I have to say this student run cafeteria is a unexpected treat. A entree with two sides is only about $7. The food always is tasty and the veggies always fresh and flavorful. Today I had Veal cutlet w/roasted cauliflower and sautéed zucchini, and it was delicious. Obviously this isn't a place you go for presentation or refinement, but it's a great for a solid affordable meal.

This is a hidden gem. We are visiting SF and staying near City College. Our first three days we had great breakfasts but spent almost $50/ meal. We decided to try the Culinary Cafeteria since it was near the bus stop we needed. The food was delicious and very reasonable. Most days we fed our family of three for under $20!! We wanted to try lunch or dinner but we're always out and about when they were serving those meals.

One side order of the breakfast scramble. Good, but literally a pool of butter/oil collecting on the bottom of the plate.

Affordable and generally an okay place to grab a meal on campus. My only criticism would be the eggs at breakfast; there is always a puddle of butter/oil underneath, enough to soak 3 napkins. We are known for incorporating healthier and locally sourced options, and so I hope that the culinary dept continues to hold true to this!

Loud, lively ambiance, warm from the open kitchen and gas lanterns lining the wall. Beautiful interior, with several tall trees in the center under the high peaked ceiling. Complimentary thin house tortilla chips and tasty slightly spicy roasted salsa. Delicious. Housemade tamale side was delicious, and I'd definitely get again. Esquites (street corn) was fresh off the cob which was nice, however it was in a soup of too much mayo--pass. Ceviche and octopus appetizers were delicious, and go well with the complimentary tortilla chips (I prefer thin over the thicker accompanying chips). Short rib was tender in a tasty mojo sauce and comes with warm tortillas so you can make your own little tacos. I still preferred the tamale though. Agua fresca good and horchata fresh, however definitely smaller than what you may be used to. Overall good visit. Will be back when we're in the mood for this type of Mexican food. Though having grown up in SoCal, college in SD, worked a bit in East LA...I generally prefer hole in the wall comfort Mexican food.

Well, in December, that night finally came and oh, what a night. There wasn't a single bad bite. We got so much!! We started off with the beet salad and warm focaccia with olive oil, garlic, and balsamic vinegar. The combination of hot bread with sweet, cool beets was a perfect contrast. The beets were perfectly cooked and came with crunchy, candied pecans over a light bed of whipped ricotta. I could not get enough, especially of the candied pecans. The focaccia was perfectly cooked and super light and fluffy. You can tell that the olive oil and balsamic vinegar are of the highest quality and the dip paired so well with the bread. For our mains, my husband got the rigatoni while I got the gnocchi carbonara (at the waiter's suggestion). Both of us were extremely happy with our choices. I'm used to getting gnocchi dishes that are super dense and doughy but in this dish, it was melting in your mouth. The infusion of the duck flavors really came through in the sauce and you had crispy meat sprinkled on top as well to give a contrasting texture to the rest of the dish. The rigatoni came with a couple of meatballs and sausages that you can tell are freshly made in house as they were tender and flavorful. The marinara sauce had a hint of sweetness with the tartness of the tomato sauce to balance it out. The pasta might have been a hair undercooked but it didn't make the dish any less delicious. For dessert, we ended with a chocolate tiramisu - a bed of moist, chocolate cake with a layer of coffee cream and cream on top, it was a delicious twist on the classic dish. We both agreed that we can't wait for our next visit back to Ofena!

As much as I desired fries or onion rings as an accompaniment to my Fried Chicken Salad ($17.23 pre-tip) the added cost kept me from getting either. This proved a good thing as the salad was deceivingly filling. It's clear that Proposition Chicken knows how to fry. The chicken bites in my salad were perfectly executed and tasted quite good, especially when dipped in a cup of hot sauce. Yes, this was a salad but I thought it more interesting as fried chicken. Though the ingredients tasted fresh I wasn't a huge fan of the kale/mint/romaine/cuke/tomato profile of the salad and thought the chicken was doing the heavy lifting. Admittedly, this comes down to personal preference but as a person who generally loves salads I'd probably look to another part of the menu for future orders. Despite the fast-food vibe of the space I left not feeling like I'd consumed fast-food fare, a plus in my book.

Every part of dinner further solidified Memento's status as a one-and-done deal. The mocktail we ordered was so syrupy thick, it needed watering down before we could drink it.
