I'm used to a glaze, but that's the only negative that I have about the food itself. 4/5 The second flavor I had was a chocolate marshmallow. Aside from the previous mentioned sugarcoating I was very excited about this flavor. I wanted to experience s'more inside of a doughnut. that wasn't the case. The donut itself was average. it had a lot more potential, but 3/5. The biggest complaint that I had was that these were six dollars apiece. I haven't been to a GP for years, last time I went was when they had a shop in Cap Hill. Anyways, I was working nearby the Pioneer Square location, so I decided to stop by. Came by mid-day, wasn't busy, not too many donut selections left so I just grabbed a couple they still had. I got the Vanilla Custard and a Chocolate Marshmallow one. Both were pretty good but I preferred the vanilla one better. The chocolate was more dark chocolate, didn't really taste marshmallow though. Sugar donut with a good amount of filling inside. I also got a Chai latte, that was pretty good, nice spice and flavorful. Glad to have stopped by again, still pretty darn good. Stopped by after i watched a TikTok & read the reviews (which all seem great!). The interior is beautiful with high ceilings, bright lighting and marble tables... however, I definitely feel like you are just paying for the aesthetic and vibes here because I honestly did not find the donuts or coffee to be that good! We got the iced latte (vanilla added with a charge) + the seasonal iced peppermint mocha as well as lemon tiramisu and chocolate marshmallow donut. Unfortunately, the coffee was just .... Not good at all! They both tasted like straight up milk & I couldn't taste any coffee or vanilla. Whatever coffee you could taste is just so bitter. My partner said he felt his coffee was strong though, so that's a positive. The peppermint mocha just tastes like crushed peppermint in water. The donuts are $6 each, and while they are pretty fluffy and do taste pretty good, there's hardly any filling in them, besides a little pocket in the middle. We came across General Porpoise while walking home one day and decided to stop in. It's a very elegant little corner coffee and donut shop. They've got a nice little cafe, servers with smiles, some local roasted bags of coffee to choose from, as well as their delightful donuts. The donuts have a slight crisp to them, almost like a croissant, and the filling was so smooth, but not overly sweet. We came here early in the morning so there was no wait. I ordered a matcha latte and it was delicious. The service was great in making sure to ask questions about the sweetness of syrups in the drink to make it right. It was quiet due to it being so early. On to the doughnuts~ Let's start with the positive: these yeast-raised doughnuts are FLUFFY. It's what carries this rating. So pillowy with a satisfying chew. Definitely best texture for a doughnut! However... that's probably where the positivity ends unfortunately. You could tell from all the doughnuts from first glance the inconsistencies in quality. Even in my pic, the doughnuts are uneven. Glaze looks melted and doesn't cover the doughnuts evenly. And the amount of filling in these are a little sad... All that to say, didn't stop me from eating these. The best I ate was the maple bar! You get to enjoy the pillowy texture and the maple glaze complements it well. I honestly can't say this shop is among the best doughnuts Seattle has to offer. A delightful bakery and coffee shop in the middle of Pioneer Square. We had to wait about 20 minutes for Cowgirls down the street to open so we stopped in here and were delighted to see they also sold beer and wine. They were out of pastries as it was close to 2PM. I assured them that it's a good sign which means they're popular. I had a local canned beer while my wife had a mocha. The windows are very large and offer a spectacular view of the street and great for people watching. There is plenty of seating and even a separate dining room with sliding doors for privacy. As an added bonus, when we showed up there was a mini petting zoo in the lobby with bunnies and goats. There were several kids enjoying this treat. Overall, a fun experience. Beautiful interior - reminiscent of a French cafe. Bright and airy with tasteful furniture. Water is available from a fountain in lovely glasses. Cool music in the background which is unobtrusive. I arrived 20 minutes before closing and didn't feel rushed by the staff to leave. A really pleasant experience. Service is always terrific. When trying to decide between lemon curd or tiramisu the sales person quickly commented that the latter was seasonal and not available after next week. Lemon is part of their usual rotation. Sold! These doughnuts are phenomenal. Always fresh, pillowy, and never that heavy, stodgy, greasy after flavor. More like a brioche. I purchased a plain (unfilled) sugar and the tiramisu which I ate on-site. They nailed the flavor. The brioche absorbed the coffee flavor and the crème interior was perfectly balanced whipped crème and marscarpone flavor, light sugar exterior and cocoa dusting. Never thought a hand held serving of tiramisu would be possible, but this was it. Go. Eat. Enjoy! I've visited a few of these locations but this is my favorite. read more

This location feels a little quieter than Capitol Hill, with big windows, soft natural light, and just enough seating to enjoy a doughnut before heading back out into the neighborhood. I ordered the lemon curd doughnut, the seasonal jam, and a flat white. The lemon curd is still the star here -- bright, tart, and smooth with that signature GP doughnut texture that's airy on the inside and just slightly crisp on the outside. The seasonal jam (today's was raspberry) was generous without being overly sweet, and the doughnut itself was textbook-perfect. The flat white was solid and balanced, though not as bold as some of Seattle's other coffee spots. Prices are definitely on the higher side, and the limited seating means it's more of a grab-and-go shop for most people. But for a neighborhood pastry stop with consistently well-made filled doughnuts, General Porpoise still holds its place. It was so nice to be back in Seattle for the week! We walked down 1st to Pioneer Square to try out General Porpoise. The staff was friendly but appeared slightly bored. We ordered a latte and some donuts which were all tasty. The place was not as clean as it could have been with two bored staff hanging around and a dearth of customers. The bus tray was full of dishes. One of the staff decided to blow her nose. In fact a full blown brain mining expedition was formed. So be it, but she failed to wash her hands. Maybe she applied sanitizer or some other remediation?? Didn't see that part. We had planned to order an additional donut for the road, but suddenly changed our plans after this observation. At long last we have finally gotten our porps! This was our fourth attempt and third location we've tried to achieve General Porpoise in, and to be honest, this one had the best service of all three. I called ahead and the barista told me that they actually do list on their site what flavors they have each day - it just grays out when they're out of stock, which was super helpful and the honey and I ended up splitting a tiramisu and an unfilled. General Porpoise doughnuts are sort of a mix between an eclair and a dinner roll. They're more bready, but they don't truly feel like doughnuts to me (Crispy Creme and old fashioneds are sort of our gold standard). Overall, my personal fav was the tiramisu, but the honey ended up preferring the unfilled to go with his cup of their tasty coffee. Holy cuteness overload! I saw this beautiful, historic building with "Schwabacher Hardware" above the arched entrance. The lobby also had a mosaic tile design unique to it. General Porpoise did a fabulous job repurposing the store with 'elephants on parade' lights, exposed brick walls and a private room available for party rentals (it was being set up for a baby shower on this day--cute!). Only I would have the bad luck to find somewhere to grab a coffee that serves what appear to be delicious donuts prior to brunch! I had to pass up on the donuts since I already had reservations nearby for brunch. Of course I did take a photo for my fellow Yelpers. My partner and I, however, did order lattes. They offered some fun seasonal lattes, too! I went with a Honey Lavender Oat Milk Latte. The barista made a gorgeous design but decided to still place the cover on the cup ruining it. Tsk tsk. The latte was lovely and fairly well-balanced with the lavender, but a bit too sweet with honey. The gal at the cash register was also not very outgoing or friendly. Very cute location! Love the white brick and white tables inside. Went at noon on a Saturday and there was only 1 other party inside. In the back, there was a private Baby Shower going on - maybe 10-15 people so that's great to know it's available for events! The huckleberry cream was so delicious! Also had the blackberry jam and lemon curd. All winners! Coffee wasn't our favorite. The ice coffee was a little too bitter for my fiancé. There is a paid parking lot right next to it.
