The salesperson won was super informative.. it makes me want to buy an RV and that's the first time I was ever in an RV store!

As another reviewer Jennifer J. stated, run far, far away from General RV. My (horrible) experience mirrored hers. Walked into General RV in West Palm Beach looking for a roomy travel trailer. They couldn't have been more helpful...just like used car salesman! Anyway, when we went to pick up the camper, the usual tactics...try to get you to buy any and all kinds of addons, warrantees on all the appliances, tires and wheels, etc. etc. All high pressure. This is the fifth camper we have purchased so it wasn't our first rodeo. As in the past, these warrantees aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Just a huge added expense that they add to their bottom line. The manufacturer gives you a bumper to bumper warrantee, which, believe me, you will need. The problem is, getting any work done in a timely fashion when something goes wrong, (and it will). We picked up the camper the end of May and took it to New England. 4 days later, the tankless hot water heater stopped working. I called the hot line and went through the troubleshooting procedures and along with the tech, determined it was not user serviceable and must be repaired by a licensed repairman. Fine. We were in New England and located a Forest River dealer in the area. I paid out of pocket to have a mobile servicemen come and identify the problem so we could have it fixed. He informed me that getting the parts would take a few weeks to get. Unfortunately, we had a strict itinerary planned and would not be able to wait for the parts. I then contacted General RV and told them of the problem. Even though I had a Forest River certified serviceman's work order showing the part needed for repair, they said that I had to bring it back to them for diagnosis before they could order the part. Great. Then, the self locking handle on the refrigerator door broke, and the countertop lamination around the kitchen sink delaminated. We were beginning to think that we should not touch anything else out of fear it would break. Talk about cheaply built. We had already made reservations at campgrounds on our way back to Florida, and did not want to lose our payments to them, so we continued on our more than 3 week journey back to Fla. We had a washer/dryer in the unit and on our way back, it began to leak into the camper. General RV installed the washer/dryer but failed to install the proper washers to the hoses resulting in the leak that I had to fix! Anyway, we returned the camper to General RV and after having the camper for more than a week, they determined that the hot water heater needed the part that the mobile serviceman said that it needed and would take 6 plus weeks to get. Same with the fridge handle. Here we are with a brand new $45,000 camper that we can't use for at least another month and a half! They claim to get you going right away if a major system fails during your first year.....Sure! Getting antsy during the height of the camping season, I called them at week 7 and they said the part did not yet arrive and they don't know when it will. Having absolutely no confidence in General RV, we decided to bite the bullet and minimize our losses. The camper was almost brand new so we decide to trade it in on a fifth wheel and take the hit. Moral of the story, do your homework....if the reviews aren't that great, run, don't walk away. PS And, the kicker is, they called during week 8 to tell me the part is in. RUN FAR, FAR AWAY FROM GENERAL RV I wish I could give zero stars. Buying a BRAND NEW $40,000 Forest River travel trailer from General RV has been the single worst purchasing experience of my life. From the moment we walked in to pick up our RV, it's been one disaster after another, and we have only had it A WEEK!!! We had a scheduled "delivery" appointment to pick up our trailer, yet no one was there to greet us, the camper wasn't ready and we just sat there, and waited 30 minutes before they even acknowledged us for pick up. Plenty of people wanted to SELL us a camper - but now that they had our money - we didn't matter. Then, once the camper was brought up front (in a really bad place to pull away from - careless) we asked them if they could screw in the new 2" ball we bought to the hitch (a 2 minute job requiring a wrench) and they tried to CHARGE US $70!!! For tightening a bolt!!!! Mind you, they advertise "free delivery within 50 miles," LIES! Thats a whole other issue. So, we were actually saving THEM the trouble by picking it up ourselves, since we were only going 20 minutes up the road. And then came the real nightmare... The awning arm bolt snapped and COMPLETELY broke off the first time we extended it, after FIVE MINUTES!!! It was hanging off the side of our trailer, banging into the sidewall, threatening to rip the awning or the other arm out! We called the manager for help, and their response???? "We can't help you. We don't recommend anyone. Figure it out." No guidance, no support, just apathy and attitude. Seriously?! The service department was no better. Their brilliant solution? I needed to TOW the trailer BACK to them... with the broken awning hanging off!!!! Which is not only unsafe, it's practically impossible, let alone to do myself. And on top of that, they said they couldn't even guarantee it would be covered under warranty, and said it would take two weeks just to get an answer. I LIVE in this camper! So... WTF am I supposed to do til then? IT IS BRAND NEW! Lights were broken, the sink vinyl completely is pealing all the way off around the rim... after using it for 1 day. Like seriously... you will take the money - not stand behind your product FALLING APART after just purchasing it? I could live with it breaking, if they were amenable to fixing it. They have 0 Fs give. The only person who showed an ounce of professionalism, human decency, or helpfulness was Justin in service. He took the time to get me a used part to hold me over in the meantime and prevent further damage to the awning and the whole unit, explained how to install it, and even recommended a mobile repair tech to help if needed. Justin... you're the only reason this review isn't written in all caps. You deserve a raise and a job at a company that actually gives a damn. To anyone thinking of buying from General RV... DON'T. Just DON'T. Unless you enjoy being ignored, up charged, and stuck with a broken "brand new" RV and zero support. Absolutely disgraceful. I legit hate this place. Except Justin. Thanks again man. I am also attaching photos of the broken bolt, the bed that doesn't close right (you can see where the bolt is hitting the frame of the bed with an indent), the sink that is peeling, the piece under the bed is not attached on one side, and the mirror light was not working. Thats just what we found after 1 week. We are still learning where things are, where they go, and finding more things wrong or broken each day. DONT buy from here. Oh I forgot - we asked for them to put a door stop on the door since it didn't have one - they put it in the WRONG place! So we had to have them put on ANOTHER one, because we refused to have HOLES in the brand new siding! Literal idiots! read more

They refused to give us some money back the general manager blames on corporate and corporate says it's them they ripped us off do not go to this place they're not trustworthy at all. Brought my RV in for service. Initially, they seemed attentive. now 2 MONTHS+ later, i can't get a written repair estimate out of them for a warranty claim to submit to the insurance company. But, when i showed interest in trading in the RV, they were all over me to do so. Moral of the stary: Don't sell RV's if you can't or won't service them. PS. Their "125 point" inspection missed; leaking toilet and broken motorized awning-it was easier to just hire a repair company to come to my now parked and set-up RV then to bring it back to them. Now dealing with Camping World-you may want to do the same. Funny story: They called me to ask about my customer experience and when i told them what happened and lack of follow-thru, the guy just hung up on me mid-sentence-i guess he had better things to do other than try to improve the customer experience for myself and any other RV customer.
