We recently purchased a Class C Motor home from this location. The RV center filled our new RV with gas before we took it home. When we needed more gas we discovered that the gas line was pinched and it could not be gassed up. General RV said it was our problem and would do nothing to help us out. Have you ever purchased a brand new car that could not have any gas put into it? Yep, it happened to us and that was bad enough but the fact that General RV knowingly sold us this vehicle with this problem and would do nothing to help correct it should tell you everything you need to know about General RV. I still do not recommend purchasing an RV from General RV. The service is the absolute worst. Don't let anything go wrong with your RV you will never be serviced by there. They say they will call you back to set up a service appointment and they never do. I ordered parts three months ago and still have not gotten the item and when I call they have no idea when it will be in, one man even told me he didn't even see the order. Update: I posted this same review on google and I was asked to take my negative review down even though it was cordial and does not contain anything malicious about general RV, I was just sharing our bad experience in hopes of others not having the same one. So with that said you can not trust their ratings on social media, because I'm sure I have not been the first to be asked to remove my review. My family and friends will most certainly never give our business to general RV. ------ Do NOT give your business to General RV in the metro-Detroit area. If you have any sort of issue it will not be resolved promptly. We dealt with them when looking for a new camper over the phone and via email. We ended up putting a refundable $500 deposit down on a unit so that they wouldn't sell it before we were able to look at it. We also told them what extra accessories we were interested in having installed when we did decide what camper we wanted to purchase. The salesman that we were working with took it upon himself to have those extra accessories installed on the camper we told him we were interested in without our signature and decision that we were 100% buying that camper. During that time we were shopping around at other dealers, which is only wise and we found a better camper with more upgrades and extras for a better price elsewhere. We told the general RV salesman that the camper they had didn't have all the things we were wanting and that we weren't interested in purchasing it and would like our refund back. He said that he would issue that refund right away. Fast forward 3 weeks and we still had not been issued our refund or given an explanation as to why. After multiple emails and calls with this internet salesman and one of the internet sales managers we were still getting no where and not being offered a quick and prompt return of our money. I personally feel that we were extremely patient and that 3 weeks should have been more than enough time to fix the situation. Within a period of 24 hours of me making persistent and frequent phone calls we found out that once extra accessories were installed on a unit that it is not their policy to refund the deposit. Completely understandable, however, we never asked them to install those things on their camper because we hadn't even agreed to buy it or looked at it in person yet. No official paperwork had been drawn up with signatures given. Come to find out they had sold the camper that this happened with to someone else and were not able to recoup their costs of installing those extra accessories, which is completely the fault of the salesman we were working with. I was then able to talk to a different internet sales manager who informed me that they would in fact return our deposit. The customer service we received over the past 3 weeks was absolutely unacceptable. Unless you would like to be given a run around don't give them your business, it will be a waste of your time. read more

Absolute worst company we have ever done business with. They deserve a zero. DO NOT BUY from here under any circumstance. We purchased a brand new Winnebago from Wixom and upon driving off the lot had a major issue with the drive shaft. We were told deal with Ford, they told us it's a Winnebago issue. We are still waiting without a solution and can not get a call back from Joe Wieder the GM despite many messages left. All they are concerned with is getting you to sign, then on to the next. My husband and I bought our Tiffin Allegro (love it!) from General RV 3 years ago. We have made so many great memories. We've been blessed by the great service we received from General RV. They have always gone to bat for us on warranty issues with the manufacturer including a recent issue with our generator. The generator with less than 130 hours stopped working. The manufacturer was not helpful and would not help us diagnose root cause to file a warranty claim. General RV stepped in and helped us negotiate a settlement. Thank you General RV! Thank you, Ray! Great Salesmen... Great Finance Department. Worse service and overall management of anything I've every dealt with in my life. Spent $160k on A BRAND NEW class A RV... waited a month to pic up, assumed everything would be complete. Parts for a tow were backordered and I already made my way out there. When I arrived they told me that day it had been pushed until a month later... Welp, I'm not from Michigan and now I really don't have a choice. They now told me they were going to get creative, they werent able to... after a few hours of my own creativity I found a semi-safe option that others had done, still werent sure it would work. We ordered it, it didn't fit, I went and bought some other parts at Tractor Supply to make it work. Mind you this is for a 4500 add on unit that I purchased. So I have a rigged up $4500 unit for towing. There was some confusion about the washer and dryer being included in my unit, but I sucked it up and paid extra for that. Here's where it gets fun... the second bathroom toilet didn't work upon pick up. While I was on their lot living for 9 DAYS they took day after day to put it off, not look at it, find a vacuum issue, say they fixed, etc. Finally they LIED and said... it's a french toilet, very hard to get a hold of the manufacturer. They said, it's supposed to work like that... gurgle and kind of flush. So after leaving and it not working after 9 days on the lot it turns out thats not how its supposed to work because I called the company... IN NEW JERSEY (NOT FRANCE) and they said, no that's not right, and thats ridiculous. So now I have owned a vehicle for almost 2 months, have one working bathroom and might I add when they went to throw on the parts for the jeep tow, left me to fend for myself, didn't provide a drop piece (didn't know I needed) and never completed the install even though I was in a rush. Through all this I was insanely patient and nice, but after leaving, finding out toilet still needed to be taken in I asked for all service money that I had spent back which came to a whopping $1100. Especially since now I'm sitting in my mother's house for 3 days while I wait for a Service Center to Look at the bathroom and then wait more to see if they have to order a part that should have already been done in the first place. One of the Operations manager's Nick, who didn't seem to care from the get go, went to "corporate" to ask for them to refund the service money done, because I've spent just as many hours trying to remedy problems and now am completely stranded waiting for someone else to do what they should have done from the get go. After 3 days he came back and said nothing they can do. This is absurd, and shameful. I'm awaiting anyone else from General RV to make this right. This is horrific. I have a 2021 RV purchased from them that doesn't have one of the bathrooms functioning, I was lied to about a french part, my $4000+ jeep towing system is quazi rigged up and a customer thats been jerked to high heaven just wants 7 hours of labor refunded for being put out and it's refused. We have been trying to get our RV fixed since May - yes 5 months - had it looked at and paid $180 for diagnostics - we are still waiting for part - and parts department is giving us a run around... first they said they got us mixed up with another patron, second they ordered wrong part. It has now been over 6 hours and I'm still waiting on a repair tgat was to take 1 1/2-2 hours. I purchased my quantum motor home approximately 5 weeks ago. In that time, I've had the misfortune of having to return for warranty issues 3 times. Twice for the same issue. 1- I sat for 8 hours waiting, not an acceptable amount of time. 2-a new part was ordered, but did not resolve the issue. This I was told after waiting over 3 hours. (I was originally told it would be a 1 1/2-2 hour job. I had to go To the service rep (Scott McGee) to get an update. None had been provided up to this point. I was told they were on the phone with Thor to determine the best resolution. Waited an additional 20-30 minutes was not given any update and again asked for one. After 15-20 minutes I was told that the preferred resolution would require an additional part which service would have to go purchase. This is requiring an additional 2 hours,I was told. I don't feel that my issue is being handled in the best manner. It has now been over 4 hours since I arrived and still I wait. Had I known that customer service was so awful, in the service department, I would never have purchased my motor home from General RV. It is extremely unlikely that I will for any future purchases. I bought a used 2021 Jayco Precept from General RV in Wixom, Michigan and it was the worst experience! I traded in my only vehicle and was told the RV I bought needed to go in for a recall the day we were supposed to swap vehicles. They originally told me I could hold on to my truck until the recall was completed but was later told I had to give them my vehicle, leaving me with no transportation for almost a month. I was given the run around about where it was and when it was going to be ready. The bug screen on one of the exhaust fans was rubbing against the fan when the dealership walked me through the RV told me they were going to fix it but instead threw the screen under a couch. The water valve to the refrigerator was shut off and when i opened it, water began leaking on the floor. Rather than fixing the leak, they just closed the valve and never told me about it. I sat in the service department for hours before they would even look at it. This dealership does not care about its customers once they get them to sign the purchase agreement! I highly recommend you avoid using this dealership for anything! read more

Sales Great and Financing, but it's no way you spend $200,000 on a Class A and did not get one trip before service is needed because of Fresh Water Tank. I never used the toilet or sink. It too these people 8 days to tell me what I told them when I brought it in. My service appointment was Tuesday at 11:00, they call me the following Wednesday to tell me they diagnosed my RV and the batteries are dead......the EXACT reason I took it in for service. Last time I took it in there for something very simple they kept it 19 days and left the house batteries on the whole time and killed them, brand new batteries and then tried to deny it and say that they were five years old when I really bought them the week before I took it in there. Take your business elsewhere! We purchased a brand new Thor Axis at the Wixom location. Seemed like a good deal. On our first trip as we rounded the corner on our block the refrigerator flew open and things went flying. We had to turn around and return to the RV dealership to get it fixed before we could continue our trip. As we drove north, we realized that the cab heaters were blowing cold air. No heat at the front. As our trip continued, we found plumbing issues, malfunctioning tank heaters, a host of electrical problems, and a page full of other issues. The worst part of all of this is that NO ONE from General RV will call us back. We've been calling for a week to everyone in their service department and even our salesman and we just get voicemail. Apparently once the sale is made they don't want to hear from you. If we don't hear from them soon, we're going to drive it over there and force someone to start working on it. read more

The parts department here is fantastic. Ordered a replacement OTA antenna and they checked stock, called back as promised and even shipped same day overnight as requested. Top notch in my book because as you know if you have an RV it's hard to find a quality sales and service dealer. The one time I was in the Huntley location and when buying parts there too I've had nothing but good experiences. Calling back and fulfilling your promises is half the battle with most of these guys. read more

We get our Camper winterized here every year, and de-winterized every spring. This past spring, when we went on our first trip of the year, we did not have hot water. Trying everything we could think of, we spent a very chilly weekend dreading the repair. So we took it back to General RV and told them what the problem was. Turns out, the valves were not in the appropriate position to allow for the hot water. Since this was the first time we've used it since THEY de-winterized it ( also being the only ones that touched the water lines when they winterized it months prior to that) it is fair for me to assume that the valves were not appropriately 'turned' at that time, yet I was charged $200 for them to 'fix' it this time. My camper is old, it's not fancy. While I was glad there wasn't a repair, I was a little put off that their obvious error ended up costing me a pretty decent amount of money. After a recent overwhelmingly positive experience at a competitor company, I felt compelled to post this review. If you're planning to spend a lot of money there, it appears they'll take care of you, but if your unit is older, be wary. read more

I will only leave a star if I have to I recently went to buy a travel trailer. Had one picked out and told I'm approved put 500 down and told to send my pay stubs and bank statements. So the next day I'm told the bank statements don't have my name and that the pay stubs didn't add up. Which didn't make any sense. so then They continue to run my credit dropping it 19 points and when I try to text or call of course there busy with customers right. So finally day 2. I say let me speak with a manager and get my deposit back. No sorry or answer explaining what happened. Then he sends me a text of my return of the deposit. Horrible experience never got approved then not and never been treated so poorly in my life. Buyer beware don't go here. I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened. Would never purchase anything from General RV my wife and I bought our first motorhome together and after doing a lot of shopping around we decided to give General RV our business even though the RV that we chose, there was an issue with the slide-out they insured us that General RV stands behind and will never screw a customer over, we were also insured that by all 3 general sales managers we also made him put it in our paperwork that they agree to fix the slide out after purchasing the monaco Diplomat from them I took the monaco Diplomat to them for a repair of the slide-out they adjusted the track and told me it was the best they could do my slide-out is still not fixed after taking it to another repair facility it was the repair facility that explain to me that the reason the slide outs not working is because the frame around the slide-out is rotted out and this was something that General RV new when they sold it to me after my wife and I pointed out the slide-out wasent working properly they chose to lie to us tell us no big deal mr. Riggs we will fix it for you and in the end when I bring them the estimate for $8,000 to repair that they told me sorry you bought an as is unit we're not touching it so there you go customers I hope you read this before you buy something from General RV of Wixom and don't trust them did I also mention that this is also a huge safety issue So do yourself a huge favor and don't do business with General RV unless you like being lied to and told anything you want to hear just remember safety is not their priority because it wasn't a priority for my family, read more

If my review even stops one person from wasting their hard earned money at this dealership this post will have been worth it. I bought a motorhome from them. It's a Thor 2018 Four Winds 22E for about $60,000 and took impeccable care of it over the past year but for some reason about a month ago the sides simply started splitting away from the front cap suddenly like it had a structural issue and they have been doing nothing for me except give me the runaround. They won't even give me an estimate to repair it. The motorhome has been there for over a week now they do not call me back when they say they're going to except earlier today they did call me to tell me if I don't pick it up it's $25 a day for every day it's it's there and they claim it's in the small print somewhere in the contract I signed which they told me was simply authorizing them to diagnose the problem and to repair it when I dropped it off. I've read hundreds of complaints about this place and I sure wish I would have read them before I went there and spent so much money... Actually this is nothing compared to some of the hundreds of thousands of dollars people spend their only to also be jacked around. I will come back and amend this review if they do the right thing and take care of me if not I will make it my life mission to tell every human I can know how lousy the customer services at this place. They keep passing the buck to Thor they do not stand behind the products they sell and they told me if I were to buy another one there was only one brand they would recommend that they represent and that the rest of them they said are worthless. That was pretty amazing to hear from one of their customer service reps. General RV is a Coachman dealer, but refuses to provide service unless you buy your motorhome from them. I called today for service and was told very rudely that I could not get service until September, because I didn't buy my motorhome from them. Frankly this is a clear violation of what is expected of them as a Coachmen dealer. So growing up, my parents always used General RV when it was much smaller. My dad is convinced that they are shady as hell, and hates going there for sales (I believe he likes the service department). So, when we decided to go to the RV show for funsies back in February with my parents, in hopes of finding our dream popup camper, my dad was pretty insistent that we steer clear of General RV. Not liking the pushy salesy nature of their setup, I still proceeded (with caution) as we looked at the Coachmen campers. They seemed great, well built, and we were pretty interested. My husband wanted to put down a deposit since they kept pushing and pushing that "YOU WILL NEVER SEE PRICES THIS LOW EVER AGAIN!" So, we were ushered back to the Land of RV Oz, and were promptly asked for our credit information, which was when I put the jacks down on the rig, and said no. We hadn't decided what we wanted, and I didn't want credit hits on our credit for something we weren't even sure we were buying yet. This did not bode well. They got a sales manager involved who tried to talk down to us, explaining that they couldn't give us a solid interest rate unless they did a credit check. Again, I explained to them I did not care. I was not prepared to buy anything. After about 35 minutes of going around like this, they finally charge $100 to our credit card as a deposit to hold the event pricing. Whatever. So, we go home, do some research, and decide we want to see a few other campers, along with possibly looking into used. I go to their website, and find that they are open until 5 (maybe 6). Not open Sundays, and only open until 4 on Saturdays. Okay... not really conducive to purchasing from them, but okay. We found a few used campers that we also wanted to look at, so we decide to make the trek out to Wixom on a Saturday. We walk into the place, and if April Ludgate from Parks & Rec had a ruder cousin who had no sense of dressing for an actual job, it was the receptionist. We explain to this gem that we'd like to look at a few used campers, and also look at some new ones... she gives us a scoff and says, okay well give me your number and we'll call you when someone can help you but it's not going to be for awhile. The used pop ups are outside, and she tells us we can go look at them while we wait. We go out to look at them and they aren't even popped up to look at. After waiting about 45 mins, we decide we're just done with this situation. We want the deposit back, and we don't want to patronize a place that is so rude to their customers. We ask for someone to help us get our deposit back and the wonderful sales manager from the show greets us. I truly almost lost it, Yelp friends. I asked if we were able to make an appointment ahead of time, to which he told me no. I then asked if it was usual to keep customers waiting for 45 minutes before even being greeted by a salesperson (not overtly rudely, but clearly I was disappointed). He told me yes, and that he can't just go and hire anyone to sell RVs, his salespeople's time is precious. They're very busy, and he'll just get us our deposit so we can leave. Completely taken aback, I say to my husband, "I guess we're not worthy of being customers here, glad we're leaving." Then he proceeds to say, "Yes, I'll get you your deposit and you can go." (Albeit with a huge grin on his face.) I cannot justify ever going to this place for anything. And after telling my parents, they will no longer be customers either. And for the record, Mr. Charming Sales Manager... I may be shopping for a lowly popup camper, but my parents camp in RVs no smaller than 40'. read more

My husband and I were first time rv'ers and they completely took advantage of us not knowing everything that you need to know. When installing the hitch they left my husbands window open and the interior of his truck got soaking wet. Our salesman was chewing tobacco whilst talking to us and had it all over his teeth, they installed the hitch wrong so we had to wait another hour for them to fix it. Our brand new rv awning had a huge hole in it that they "missed" and now we have to waste our time bringing it back there to get it fixed. That place is a joke, don't go there. Service center has steadily been going down hill. With the new location in Wixom and more bays to serve you would expect quicker turn around. Instead appointments are as much as 4 to 6 weeks out. Even with an appointment, I drop off rig and am told that it wont even be in a bay or 1 week to be looked at/quoted. $179.00 per hour labor is the highest in ANY industry (guaranteed the employees don't get this hourly rate). high price service for long waits and inflated part prices. If anyone knows of a good RV place in south east Michigan to go to please post because I have $70k ready to go for a new purchase. read more

Rip offs!!!!! They only care about making as much money as they can off of you. We bought a motor home from them in 2014, which I'm sure they made their profit from in thousands of $$$$, my husband died in April last year (2016), I contacted our salesman, Bob B (aka Bikini Bob) in June and asked about General RV selling our coach. I explained how much it broke my heart to see it in our driveway every day knowing that the dream my husband and I had for our future was gone as well. I literally was in tears crying and begging for them to please take it away. I only asked for pay-off from our loan. Bob said, "Of course!" And offered condolences on my loss. Then never called me back. He was too busy with the big sale they were having for the summer. Like WTF?! I called every week and got excuse after excuse from Bob B (blaming his boss for it), so I contacted his boss, Jamie, in August, who I will say was a pleasure to deal with and came through on his word and had someone come pick up the RV within days of our conversation. So, long story short, a few months after they had it I checked online to see how much it was listed for and it wasn't even in their inventory, which provoked my PTSD. I called to complain, great, they finally listed it, but had a price tag of OVER what we paid for it nearly 3 years before!!!!! Then when they did get an offer, they asked me to take a $1500.00 hit from my loan. Unreal! Rip off the grieving widow whose income has been reduced dramatically! I eventually just brought it back home. I wasn't looking to make any profit from my RV, I didn't mind if they made a FAIR profit for selling it, but evidently it wasn't enough of one for them to even give it an honest effort. They told us we were approved we set up the time for the class and everything got him the info he asked for (the finance guy) gives you a text number that goes to his phone and computer but yet he WILL NOT give you an update on what's going on so finally we called and got our deposit back. This place is a joke then after reading all the horrific reviews I get why the place is dead and they have a 2 star rating, every department is terrible including service from what I've read here. They couldn't even get back to us on a loan there was no way we wanted to deal with these people for service so we're going to price right. We purchased a 2017 Fleetwood Storm 34S from General RV in March of this year. Immediately upon pick-up of the motor home, we noticed several significant structural, mechanical and aesthetic problems with the vehicle. We left with the RV and were told to schedule an appointment for repairs. Two weeks later we took the RV in for repairs, six pages worth of service repairs, along with two, new manufacturers recalls. Almost three weeks went by and we were called to pick our "new" RV up. When we arrived, not only were the repairs not to our satisfaction, but there were additional repairs to be made after their service department had broken previously unbroken items during the repair process. We spoke to the Service Manager and was told that he agreed with us and to please let them try to "make it right"; we left the RV again. In the meantime, we called the manufacturer, Fleetwood and expressed our displeasure with their product and they told us, unless we drive the RV to Oregon, we had to use General RV for service. We are now on our third manufacturers recall, eight pages of service notes and an RV that has been in the shop, more than it's been used by us. I have already notified both companies of my intent to make my complaint with the Utah BBB and the Department of Consumer Affairs and have asked for their arbitration procedures, to which General RV has not responded and Fleetwood stated does not exist. read more

I had a wonderful experience with General RV Center! I was working on a purchase with Josh and I put a refundable deposit down to hold my unit. I was nervous to do this as my financing was not complete and I was worried that if it didn't go through it would be a hassle to get back. Unfortunately my financing didn't go through and I was unable to complete my purchase :( Josh and Brock refunded my deposit ASAP just as promised!
