Bought our first trailer here 2/2023. No problems. When we had a minor emergency with water they had a tech call us within 10 minutes who walked us through the fix. Had it winterized today. Dropped off at 130 no appointment 12/1/23. The tech Taylor took a lot of time with us and with our rig and at about 3 took us for a walk thru and one by one addressed all of our concerns. Went into rig with us and made sure we got all questions asked answered. Have an order some minor parts as we're still under warranty so will be back soon. Overall I felt seen heard and understood. Bought a big 5th wheel from this place back in 2018 and had a awful experience. camping world is awful so we figured wed just go look. Ken patrick was a great sales guy. showed us everything we wanted and was super helpful and just an all around nice guy. I explained to him that i already had financing through my credit union i bank with. they made me go talk to the f and i manager, (John) after that. i get in the guys office with my wife and our 5 year old, first thing out of his mouth is that he had to piss super bad and thats where he was. my wife and our 5 year old wanted to sit together so i sat on the 3rd chair. john demanded i move chairs because "it was easier" john then went on to ask me for my id and SS#. i told him i already had financing and that i didnt need to use them to finance it. he then demanded that general rv run my credit. his exact words were that it was "mandatory" after about 10 minutes of going back and forth about general rv running my credit when i had a open loan application on file at my bank, i had had enough of the condisending additude and asked him if he ran my card for the deposit yet, he said no. i reached onto the table to grab my id and debit card and john swiped them off the desk and held them to his chest. i was shocked that someone in a retail establishment would do something like that. after asking him 3 times for my property back and him saying "oh no! why do you wanna do that? lets work it out!" i stood up and said give me my fucking property back now! he handed it over and i walked out. sales manager called me. told him the story. he said he was going to work it out and call me back.... never heard back from him. why do companies do business like this? the guy KNEW i had financing and tried to push through a loan by lying right to my face just so he could make his scummy little job count. when you see the f and i guy thats wearing a big fake gold fossil watch thats the manager, stay away. this guy is literally there to screw you out of money. just go to your bank one time and submit a loan application. pick up the check and take it to the dealer to buy anything you want. Paid General RV to de-winterized our travel trailer. After paying them and thinking it was done properly, we found out the hard way that they didn't do it correctly. The hot water tank was still in by pass. Which blew an amp and blew the thermostat. This is the third and last time dealing with them. It cost you more money for you to have General RV do the de winterization then doing it yourself. Since they don't do it right other items break. Which leads to more cost to you to have it fixed. And of course you paid them to do a job you would expect that they would compensate you when they don't do the job properly. read more

Buyer Beware - My Experience with General RV I purchased a used 2021 Tiffin Allegro Open Road motorhome from General RV. Like most buyers, I relied on the dealership's representations that the coach had been inspected, prepared for sale, and was ready for travel. As part of the transaction, I paid approximately $4,000 for dealer preparation and Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) services. Based on those charges, I expected major defects, safety concerns, and maintenance issues to have been identified and addressed before delivery. Unfortunately, my experience was very different. Shortly after taking possession of the motorhome, I discovered numerous defects and maintenance issues that I believe should have been identified during a thorough inspection. Several involved safety-related systems requiring immediate attention. Among the issues discovered were brake and taillight failures, dry-rotted windshield wipers, a malfunctioning entry step, a missing toilet seal that allowed sewer gas odors into the coach, carbon monoxide and propane detector issues, loose propane fittings, HVAC water intrusion and HVAC failure, underinflated tires, electrical system defects, rear and side camera visibility problems, and slide-out system defects. These issues raised serious concerns regarding safety, reliability, and overall roadworthiness. One of the most significant problems involved the slide-out system. When I submitted a claim to my extended warranty company, coverage was denied because the warranty provider determined the defect was a pre-existing condition that should have been identified before the vehicle was sold. This conclusion was consistent with information provided by both Tiffin and the certified repair technician who completed the repair. What made the situation even more frustrating was the difficulty I experienced obtaining answers and documentation. When I requested records showing what work had been performed during the dealer preparation and PDI process, I was initially informed that no inspection report existed. Later, I was told that inspection and preparation documents did exist but would not be provided because they were considered proprietary company records. As a customer who paid approximately $4,000 for preparation and inspection-related services, I found that response disappointing. If customers are charged substantial fees for inspection and preparation work, there should be documentation showing what was inspected, tested, repaired, serviced, or verified before delivery. Without that documentation, it is difficult to understand how so many issues could have gone unnoticed. Another concern was the amount of effort required to obtain responses. Communication was often slow, and significant follow-up was required before receiving answers. Calls, emails, and messages frequently went unanswered or required repeated contact. To General RV's credit, the company eventually reimbursed me for the slide-out repair expense. However, that reimbursement came only after more than a month of repeated communications and persistence on my part. While appreciated, it did not eliminate the frustration, inconvenience, and expense associated with addressing problems that appeared shortly after delivery. I understand that used RVs can have issues. My concern is not that defects existed, but that numerous defects appeared shortly after delivery despite substantial dealer preparation charges. The volume and nature of these problems caused me to question the effectiveness and thoroughness of the preparation process. My advice to anyone considering the purchase of a used RV from General RV: Get every promise and representation in writing. Request documentation of dealer preparation and inspection services. Personally test every system before accepting delivery. Verify the operation of slides, cameras, lights, appliances, HVAC systems, and safety devices. Inspect tires, batteries, and propane systems carefully. Hire an independent RV inspector before completing the purchase. read more

After having it for 10 days, a guy looked at it for 20 minutes and said nothing is wrong and charged us $121. It still does not work. Do not go there for service. Do not go there for anything. Our sales person, Bob Bianchini, went out of his way to ensure we got the right unit to meet our needs at the right price. Even after the sale, he has been an absolute gem - taking my "noob" calls and never hesitating to answer my questions or point me in the right direction. I was having trouble with my generator I took it to Cummings great ppl can't speak highly of this company Cummings in Saginaw they found the issue it was the roof top AC kept tripping the generator they said this is the problem it's called a compensator is bad in the AC take it where they can either fix the AC unit under warranty or get you a new one so I took it to general rv. Told Beth the service lady this is what Cummings found wrong with it litteraly call Dan at Cummings . A week goes by haven't heard anything then ten days now we are approaching my trip to Florida so I call and Beth isn't there I get another lady let me look into it she says then a min later back on the phone it's fixed cool I say she said yeah nothing wrong with it! So impressed with the staff here in Brownstown, MI. Full time in a van and had a power failure. Tonia, Adam and Chris were outstanding. They listened to the problems and before bringing it in and charging labor they came up with a solution (faulty power cord). No less than ten people greeted the dogs and offered water, would definitely come back in the future. They also said if we have any issues in the future, no matter where we are, we can reach out to them for assistance. So I post a bad review, then apparently since General RV has so many bad reviews, they paid for an automated message to "please call so they can address my concerns". Guess what, I called back, they confirmed who I was, said they would call back and I never heard from them again. In the meantime, I finally found an honest RV sales and service dealer, Cunningham RV in southern Indiana. They determined that the AC in my rig was never connected to the control panel from time of manufacture. So it was never going to work. I paid General RV over $2k for "dealer prep" which presumably would include making sure the AC worked, among the dozens of other issues. Again this is a brand new rig. When I disputed the part of the sales price I put on my credit card since they clearly did NOT prep my rig, the response they provided my credit card company clearly took them many hours. Its a shame they didn't spend those hours preparing my rig to begin with. When they spend more time fighting legitimate claims than they do actually providing service, you have someone dealing in bad faith who has no interest in service, just trying to rip you off as a business model. I can only hope this review will save at least one other person for the terrible mistake I made walking into General RV. read more

Especially service, which would be 0 my coach spent 5 months at Wixom for recall items from Aug. 7,2023 til January 2024 into the winter. I was back and forth with Rev about the delay. So the rest of my summer shot, so while at this dealership I needed it to be winterized due too the delay. So upon my inspection in May 2024 I found water in the Water Heater, and a cracked water filter cover. In addition all recall items were not completed. Magically this camper just had a "deposit" put down on it minutes ago, however they have another unit in Chicago that is identical in trim/ color and price. General RV Wixom. Caution. Run from doing business with this place. They will happily take your money and put on a show when you make your purchase. After that they will be nowhere to be found with giving you proper, professional customer service. This is the worst service department for any vehicle that I have ever dealt with in my life.! We had repeated issues with an awning on an RV that was under warranty. The last issue being damaged they caused to it while trying to repair it. We live over an hour from this place and seriously inquire into repair time frames when making decisions about waiting for the repair of leaving it over night. I was bringing it in for what I was told was about a one hour repair. When bringing it back for a one hour follow up appointment I was asked by the representative Danny what was my plan for the day and didn't I realize that it was a "show day". I literally couldn't understand what he was asking me as I had expected to be there for approximately one to three hours. Danny basically told me he had no idea when this would be completed; that it could be 7 to 8 hours. I inquired with him to confirm that it would be completed today and he was not able to confidently tell me that it would be. He told me he thought it would be as he was shaking his head no. He said it was going to be some significant time. They had no open bays and various other things. Based on past appointments playing out in a similar fashion, I did not feel confident that my damage was going to be repaired that day. I asked for my paperwork, the OEM time to repair the part which was never provided to me and a manager. I asked to speak with a manager at least three times. I was never allowed to speak with a manager, even though there were two of them, literally sitting in front of me that would not even look up at me. These service people are awful, they treat customers like crap, they do not respect your time. We called and asked to speak with a general manager and were shoved off to a customer care care team that is not even in the facility. This business completely insulates their poor employees from everyone and does not deal with issued which a blatant rudeness and incompetence. If you purchase something from General RV, do not go here for your service. I would never refer them. I will never buy another product from them. They have incredible problems with customer service, professionalism, and management in their service department. I am not one to post negative reviews for places but after repeated terrible experiences, filling out customers surveys, and trying to speak with management I do not want other people to deal with the same stuff. For TWO AND A HALF WEEKS their phones/scheduling service have been down. My phone calls went unreturned. I came in to the office last week to see what I could do and was told that when the computers came back on line, I would be able to bring it in in TWO WEEKS.... I just went in to the office again (because their phones rang 15+ times each of the three times I called today). I myself made a huge mistake after swearing. I would never again purchase an RV from General RV after 3 horrific ecperances with 3 purchases. My wife and I decided we wanted to purchase a solitude 310gk 5th wheel. For years, many other dealers carried this brand. Recently, Grand Design has become popular, and now only General RV carries them in Michigan. So I recently purchased one. 4 months in, we found a roof leak service adviser said I should have looked closer when doing our walk through Said it was a caulking problem, and this, is it regular maintenance not covered under warranty, 4 month owner ship not under warranty? They found there was no caulk around the antena. After arguing, they fixed it. Many other small issues we had to battle to get repaired, same reasoning I should have seen them on walk through. 5 months later, the first trip out had malfunction of fresh water system. No water when dry camping. We were stranded and called their service department and was told they would call me right back. You know the result, no call back. I looked at the issue problem, which was a street water check valve, according to Google. I looked and found that during the winterizing, I had them do while in for warranty repairs they put the washer and screen for the fresh water fill port in backward, causing the check valve to stay open making the water when the pump was on pump out of the port and not to the interior faucets. I am swearing again, never will I spend a penny at General RV. Please warn others. I truly can not imagine having a worse RV purchase experience. The amount of disappointment, inconvenience, and blatant disregard for significant issues is unbelievable. We were told to arrive for pickup at the Michigan location 9-1 at 9 am. Sales said pickup would take approximately 3 hours to go over everything and sign the paperwork. When we arrived, many things were visibly wrong which kept us there until almost 5 pm that day. After 8 hours of waiting at the dealership we hit the road in anticipation to take a short trip with our new rv. When we made our first turn and all of the drawers came flying out of the kitchen and living area causing damage. We also noticed a burning smell. When we stopped for the night, about 4.5 hours from the dealership, we realized the coach door did not close properly or lock, causing the inside handle to fall off. We realized that's why we had so much noise coming into the coach when taking it down the highway. The next few days we called both the Wixom location & also our Jacksonville location to schedule a service. Both dealers gave us the run around so we cancelled our trip and drive home in an effort to get immediate service. It took us about 2 weeks for the Jax location to get us into service. We had a bday trip coming up out west & told them that would be cutting it close to us making our trip. They reassured us they would do the best they could to get us on the road in time for the trip. So we drove 62 miles to Jax & went over everything with a service associate. Our biggest concerns were the burning smell & the door not opening or locking properly . The Jacksonville service department had our coach for 3 days and said it was ready for pickup. We drove an hour to pick it up, and not one thing was serviced. Duane, the service manager on duty that day apologized and said he wasn't sure how it was missed. So, they kept it a few more days, said they adjusted the door, but also ordered a replacement. They ordered a new drawer to replace the damaged one & ordered new parts for the stairs. They were to follow up with remotes that were supposed to be mailed to us. They adjusted all items needing to be adjusted and they looked over EVERYTHING that could cause a burning smell and couldn't find a thing. My husband asked if they checked the brakes and all fluids and they said yes. At this time it was too late for us to make our trip out west in time costing us a $8000 non refundable deposit. When we explained that to Duane, he said to give him a few days to talk to his manager. This was September 27. November 30 still no word from general rv. Nothing about our parts and nothing about a resolution to the monies lost. We thought we would take the rv on an over night trip close to home. We purchased September 1 and still have not had it on a trip bc of all the issues. November 30, we packed up and attempted to take a one day trip. We turned on the unit & there was a brake light that said Check brake fluid. My husband checked the brake fluid and there wasn't any. We reached out to service to call us immediately, no response for two days. The next day my husband reached out to Duane, no response. 12-5 we reached Kyle. He set up a tow truck from Mercedes, (Also not an easy process and likely not the proper tow truck). Kyle also indicated the parts that were supposed to be ordered 2 months before either were not, or they were shipped to the wrong place. I still don't have a clear answer on where they are. I sent all photos and some questions about the parts. No response. Kyle also mentioned he would be emailing Chris, the gm. We haven't heard from him either. Our 2023 Tiffin Wayfarer that we purchased BRAND NEW September 1, 2022 has not yet been on a trip. However, it did go on a tow truck ride 12-5 because somehow the Jacksonville location missed the importance of checking the brakes and fluids we very clearly asked them to check. The only miles on our coach are the miles it took to deliver it to Wixom from its original location (Alabama I believe ) and the 1200 miles we drove it home from Wixom. (Then of course to Jacksonville and back for useless service ) When it came to the purchase, our $5000.00 deposit on the unit was quickly handled same day. Our $36,600.00 down payment was wired in immediately with no question. We were called every day to confirm pick up and insurance. But, now that General RV had us pick up a $186,522.60 lemon we have crickets after multiple attempts at trying to get a resolution. read more

"General RV Fox News" It details multiple counts of fraud. My experience supports the news story. They stole my 5,000 deposit. After I sign the papers they told me the they will mail me the documents, I never got to see finance rates or nothing, So after discussing this with my wife, I decide to cancel the deal the same day, Never took possession of the RV. How they still in business I don't know? They are very good on continually commuting Froud to people who spend there savings to purchase one of there RV's. I have a love/hate relationship with this business. As an RV owner, I visit them 3-4 times a year for routine service as they are a certified service provider by my RV's manufacturer . They have a good team of people in the Service dept, but for some reason, communication has been an ongoing problem. Recently, I arrived early for their "winterizing" service, which usually takes about 20-30 minutes. When I arrived, I was in position #2, which means that my RV work should be done about an hour after the 11am. winterizing service begins. About 12 p.m., I asked for an update and was told that the status was unknown as none of the techs were answering the phone (!). At 12:30, I was told that my RV hadn't been touched as they had lost the signin sheet (!). Then at 12:45 I was told that the work was done, so I could pay my $200 bill. At checkout, I was told that it was a "computer issue." Bear in mind that I'm sitting in the customer lounge for almost 2-1/2 hours. I can't understand how an organization as large as General RV can have such poor communication with their customers. read more

Took 30 days to get an appointment for the awning recall work to be done at General RV - Wixom, as well as to retrieve a fallen seat belt and to check the Truma that threw a code. Once dropped on appointment date, it took another 29 days to be called to say the RV was ready. I asked specifically if all items were address and was told, YES. Arrived at 9 a.m. the next morning to find that the awning recall issue WAS NOT address at all. i was given some sad and incompetent excuse about needing to order the part, its a Winnebago problem, they're closing for the holiday and don't want the RV sitting on the lot unattended, blah, blah, blah. I contacted Winnebago just after making the initial appointment and was told it would only take a few days for General RV - Wixom to order the parts, I also spoke with General RV - Wixom service advisor and was told he'd check into it as well. I did everything humanely possible to make sure all the recall paperwork was in order and that General RV - Wixom would be ready to address the recall fix. Well, wishful thinking. Every single time (at least three times) I have interacted with General RV - Wixom's service department, I have consistently be astounded by the level of incompetence, lack of forth-thought, and the initiative to get the work done properly. Do not misunderstand. It is not the fault of the people who perform the services. It is the lackluster work ethic from the front end employees, the service advisors, who fail miserably in doing their job. My experience is not a one-off. This is a current theme at this location. Can I do zero stars please?! The owner of this place obviously doesn't read their reviews. BUY YOUR CAMPER ELSEWHERE! This is our third summer without a refrigerator in the motor home we bought from THEM. Most recent fiasco is they installed our brand new refrigerator (we had to fight for the fridge replacement) in our motor home that came sliding out of its spot while traveling down the highway. Update to my previous 5 star review. Why are these businesses awful with customer service lately?! We have had trouble with our brake controller since it was installed by General RV, it is somehow draining power to our brand new vehicle. It's made our main mode of transportation unreliable. We've already took it in once. The brake controller has shorted out and is now unusable but General RV can't get us in until late JULY. We can't take our camper anywhere, is this a joke ?! Another RV dealer told me they would have us come in ASAP if that was them who installed it, General RV literally told my boyfriend "WE ARE NOT A CAR REPAIR SHOP" Are you kidding me ?!!! Our trailer was dropped off 2 weeks ago for a problem that they said was fixed. We have been calling for 2 weeks and no one will return our calls. When asked about speaking to a manager, the reply was well they have 48 hours to call you back. Well it's been way over 48 hours and still nothing. This is beyond ridiculous!
