Update to my previous 5 star review. Why are these businesses awful with customer service lately?! We have had trouble with our brake controller since it was installed by General RV, it is somehow draining power to our brand new vehicle. It's made our main mode of transportation unreliable. We've already took it in once. The brake controller has shorted out and is now unusable but General RV can't get us in until late JULY. We can't take our camper anywhere, is this a joke ?! Another RV dealer told me they would have us come in ASAP if that was them who installed it, General RV literally told my boyfriend "WE ARE NOT A CAR REPAIR SHOP" Are you kidding me ?!!! They literally installed this device into OUR CAR!!! Why did we spend thousands on an extra warranty for nothing. read more

Service is typically poor and expensive. Unfortunately, they are the only game in town and they act like it.

Our trailer was dropped off 2 weeks ago for a problem that they said was fixed. We have been calling for 2 weeks and no one will return our calls. When asked about speaking to a manager, the reply was well they have 48 hours to call you back. Well it's been way over 48 hours and still nothing. This is beyond ridiculous! Don't walk, RUN from this place! read more

General RV Corporate Leadership, This review is for YOU! Drop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and get your leadership to invest in REAL Quality Control Departments at your manufacturing locations! Consumers are buying your products (same day off the lot) with confidence that we would be in receipt of a SAFE, quality product WITHOUT having to revert back to your service departments to correct QA discrepancies AFTER delivery (and in my case 18 months after delivery). Your service departments at key locations (Tampa & Ashland) are overwhelmed, undermanned and working with a supply ordering system that continuously drops the ball. Since the day of purchase, I have been working off an EXTENSIVE punch list for my 2020 Discovery XLT 44B and I've been running up and down Hwy 95 between the two locations, for 18 months now, just to get Parts ordered and obtain "first available" appointments at ANY of these locations. I have learned that parts ordered for MY RV are always "the wrong part" and my re-order falls into a dark hole. Only due to my recurring bi-weekly check-ins with the service managers, am I updated on parts delivery. It is up to me to go into negotiations on service dates and drop-off availability. Since inception, drop off requirements require that I leave the RV at the servicing garage for up to 3-weeks in a "wait" status. Same day install "is not possible" and Service Department Manager's are unsympathetic on customer care. On a serious note, I have been in contact with Corporate (from my July 20 - present) in trying to obtain assistance on missing parts and follow-up service issues. Am I ever going to rid myself a prisoner involving the bureaucracy of this company? I WOULD NOT recommend purchasing from a company that leaves you with a set of keys to a $350K luxury bus that is manufactured and released off the line without being stamped as 100% Safe and Reliable by the General RV Manufacturing Quality Assurance Department just to land a sale. The service Departments are the crux of this organization and obviously General RV Corporate, you are clearly asleep at the wheel. Please take this review as a viable complaint and advanced warming to the downfall of General RV within the RV owner community. We are thousands strong and the consensus is mutual - we will not be repeat customers for this fact alone. "Without a sound product, reliable service and corporate customer care, there is no basis for making the same mistake twice." read more

Stay away, this business is solely interested in sales and nothing else. Encountered a situation where I placed a $2500 down payment on a camper and 7 days later had to,cancel, due to health issues. Business retained all of my deposit stated they had to pay transportation charges to get the camper I purchased from Ohio. In checking haulers and costs from Ohio to the Florida location the highest cost was $1,504. Sales team at General would not return any portion of down payment. I emailed both CEO, Robert Baidas and President Loren Baidas and never received ANY response. This is a strong reflection of the top management team not caring anymore than the regional management team. This would be a business I would highly recommend you stay away from. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! During the purchase phase they were very attentive. February 2023 we went to pick up our new camper and noticed the shower door was defective. They told us to take possession and they'd order a new shower door and notify us when it comes in. We took the camper and stored it. We sold our house and we're scheduled to move into the camper on May 1st. In April we pulled the camper onto our lot and prepared to set up. When we attempted to pull the slide out we noticed the weather stripping on the slide was not secure. We've been calling General RV and getting the run around from everyone who talks to us. Meanwhile we still don't have the shower door and can't stay in camper because water will damage the interior. We have called and decided to contact Forest River directly. They told us there was no orders on file for those parts. We are now going to have to contact an attorney because we just keep getting promises. This is costing us more money for housing because we can't stay in the camper. You can't buy the stripping and put it on yourself because they will only sell it to General RV. Now I'll wait for the automatic reply that looks sincere. They will not call us back. We can't believe they are still in business with the lack of customer service. read more

Worst service experience I have ever encounter in my entire life!!! DO NOT purchase an RV from General RV of Wixom, MI. During walk through it was noted something was broken. Part was to be ordered (Never was). Drove RV home and all kinds of wires fell by brake pedal (the dash panel to be reattached and wires wore to be taken care of per the salesperson when pointed out when first looking at unite on lot). 2 weeks after having unite took back in for a number of issues. Now 2 months old have water leak from roof, Back in shop (could be from when they mounted solar panel on roof). 1 week later service rep stated parts are in and when I asked about finding the leak I was told did not even look into it yet. They don't know when they will get to looking at RV even after having a specific scheduled appointment time. During this time we have had a number of days of rain (so what is that doing to the inside of the walls!!!). Extremely disappointed/dissatisfied customer! UPDATE: Most recent and ongoing dealings with General RV service department. Going on the middle of the third week since our scheduled appointment to find the water leak on our new motorhome and they still have not done anything with our RV. Service representative does not know when they will get to it. I cannot emphasize enough the discouragement from spending six figures on something and having this kind of frustration. Also, back to the owner who made a response to communicate with management, which I believe to be not authentic we have worked with a couple of the managers at the Wixom, MI location. One response from a manager to my wife was (what do you want me to do about it, I have 150 units on my lot I have to deal with). Again, I can't say it or print it loud enough...find a different dealership so you may enjoy your new adventures because our adventure has and still is nothing short of a nightmare!!! read more

Still no response from the "customer service" at the Wixom location where we bought our brand new camper that we can't use because the shower door doesn't work and the seal around the slide came away from the camper the first time we opened it! We bought the camper in February 2023. They said they ordered the part and would fix it when it came in. To go ahead and take possession of the camper. So many promises were made from the Alex the sales person and managers of the service department and none of them kept their word. They would not correspond by email because then we would have proof. We can't purchase the parts ourselves because they won't sell them to us. The last time the customer service manager they told us to bring in the camper to be assessed. Let them order the part( we were told the part was ordered before we drove the camper off the lot and every phone call since February) and when it comes in we have to bring the camper back to have the shower door installed. They can't give us any time frames whatsoever. There is a one year Warranty on the camper and we are already 3 months in with no actual service, customer or repairs. They are going to delay repairs until the warranty has expired. Wait for the auto response it sounds so genuine. Nobody from general RV are reading these reviews! DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO THIS COMPANY! PAY MORE MONEY FROM ANOTHER COMPANY! I WISH WE HAD! read more

We bought a new pop up camper last year at General RV. The sales process was handled nicely. There was a minor piece of work needed on our camper - replacement of a peeling sticker. That took forever, with wrong stickers ordered and no ability to get a service appointment. In fall we took the unit in for winterization - again a very clumsy process. Their service dept. is not customer focused. Just took the camper out this spring and when opened up, we found quite a mess and some damage from the winterizing process. Three of four window shades were broken - no idea how winterizing relates to window shades. And they left cushions on the floor and the dinette bench opened up. We managed to fix the shades - hopefully for good, as I am sure General RV would charge us to fix their damage and we'd have to navigate their terrible service dept again. DO NOT use General RV for service. They simply don't care about you or your equipment. read more

Ok ..... So we are getting ready to buy an RV from here and so far it's been a sh** storm. Come on General, you say on your website that you have a 4.? Rating, that's funny because I don't know what you are looking at. I have looked at your different dealerships reviews and it seems to be mostly all the same, 1.?. Up till 2018 you had plenty of 4+ stars, now, according to what most are saying, you would be in the negatives. I would not buy from here, but in my situation, this is the only choice I have. If your people can't get your ratings up, then get who can, get people who care after the sale. read more

This is the absolute worst business I have ever dealt with. The wheel flew off our brand new( first trip) camper. There was a safety bulletin issued on our trailer 2 months before we bought it. They said nothing. Let us leave the dealership in a time bomb. It has been 16 days and they will not return our call. Been calling every day and they will not call back..We are now going to deal with the manufacturer because they won't call them back either. Worst. Company. EVER! read more

Service is overwhelmed and communication is abysmal. Buyer beware if you get a camper form them, you're on your own.

They need to come up with a new name for the Service Department. Late October the height of the winterizing time for RV'S they say just come on in no appointments necessary for winterizing. Except they didn't tell you that you are at the bottom of the list to get written up to get the work done. When I arrived I was 4 th on the list just to create a service ticket and get my keys. 90 minutes later they finally call on me to take 7 minutes to write the work order. Suggest you should have one person assigned to take walk-in traffic or have a lighter workload so they can. read more

Update: never heard back about the broken heat shield and now the unit is out of warranty. Glad I'm handy because I wouldn't go back there if they offered me a brand new one for free. read more

They were very friendly and answered all my questions. I didn't buy a camper yet but will soon.

Would not will not recommend this company or location. To start: Prepped the wrong vehicle for delivery burned 2 plus hours waiting for the van I picked out Salesperson had no idea who I was after 2 days Problems concerns arise but I'm 12 hours away living in the van. Call the company 3 times each time the buck gets passed with 1 issue getting resolved. My suggestion is that if you are in the market for a recreational vehicle do your research on the dealer Never again general rv read more

As an all big box stores General RV is no better. Their prices are inflated, their service is subpar, and they generally try to squeeze every penny out of you. If you have to go there just be aware of these failings. read more

My dads toilet broke the day we set up camp and we needed the part bad. Called and got quoted $34.99 he hurried up to go get it bc it was close to closing time. When he got there Antoine in the parts department who originally quoted him, then told him that he gave him the wrong part number and it was $74. When we googled the part this morning (on the general RV site) we found that the part was actually $34.99. This is dishonest business! He knew we needed it so he jacked up the price! Very poor customer service!!!! read more

I brought a what was supposed the sales lady told me it was t a 23 coachmen galleria Q in May of 2023 from general in Wixom rv it was actually a 2022 chassis with I suppose a 2023 body I only took 2 trips before it started to fall apart the first thing I noticed was the fog light cover was falling off that should have been a sign that this was a bad sale, then on my 2nd trip the closet door fail off while I was driving down the road, then the micro wave started coming out of the cabinet again while I was driving. the air around the door of the driver and passenger doors was so load I couldn't hear the radio, I've been calling Mercedes they told me that is a coachmen problem coachmen told me because I live in Texas and I brought it in Michigan the Wixom rv they are not obligated to fix my class b coachmen, so now I have to drive it back to Michigan back to the dealer to get everything fix and it's still under the manufactures warranty i email coachmen to ask is this the kind of rv's you guys sell no one wants to own up to this shoddy crap, i can believe Mercedes put there logo on this buyer's remorse I would never buy coachmen read more

Our camper broke the morning we were supposed to leave for camping. Called the service department and was told they have a program called Keep People Camping and that we could bring our camper up between 11-3 and that they could fix it for us. My husband hooked up the camper and took it up there just to be told it would 7-10 to be fixed. Lady on the phone blamed the gentleman giving out bogus information on him being new. Personally I think you need to do what you said you were going to do. Even if it was incorrect information. Do what you say you were going to do!!! read more

Delivery of new units. You wait longer for a checkin, then the time it took to drive here.

We are new Rv owners and still learning the ropes. I went to the wixom rd location. I was assigned Aleses as my service adviser. She is so nice and always follows up with me on issues. She's new but definitely a keeper. We picked up our trailer as they have to order parts but as we tried to leave we were not getting any lights on the trailer. Bill/Gary and another gentleman ( I'm mad I forget his name) stayed out there with us diagnosing the problem on my 2021 F-150. It ended up being a blown fuse on the truck but they stayed until we figured it out and installed a new fuse. That is what I call awesome service! I wish I had started at this location originally but now I know where to go. read more

Chris Spurlin is one of the rudest, most dishonest salespeople I have come across. Not only did he lecture me on paying cash versus financing, he then offers me a price higher than the price listed online. When I pointed this out, he simply walked away. Beyond rude, lost sale, but I am grateful that Chris and General RV showed their true colors before I gave them my money. Avoid at all costs. read more

Sales department is knowledgeable and helpful. Service department is not great. Took 6 weeks to get an appointment then once we took our rv in it sat for two weeks before even looked at. After many calls finally a corporate customer service representative put us in touch with our service advisor. The day after the customer service representative called our rv was magically repaired. Very bad customer service and absolutely no communication with the repairs or status. Never again will General RV see my RV. read more

This is our second purchase with General RV and we have had super great experiences both times! The walk through and paperwork ordeal was seamless and thorough, the customer service is amazing, the follow up while we waited for our unit was awesome...just a good experience all around read more

We bought a 2022 prime time tracer in May of 2022 and took it camping the same day we picked it up. We found several minor problems that needed repaired. I called General RV the following Monday in May and got an appointment to bring it on 7/8 and I specifically told them we have camping reservations on 7/18 and was told that's no problem. We called General RV on 7/16 and was told they haven't even looked at the problems. So now we are going to have to pick up to to camp and make yet another appointment. Really bad service because nothing was done. Very unhappy customer read more

We have had excellent service-from purchasing our second RV through General to any repairs needed. Even though they are busy, they always make you feel welcome. They are kind cheerful and super helpful. Love the keep you camping program. We've stopped for minor adjustments and fixes and they take care of us in a timely manner. Special shout out to Jennifer Burke Lead service advisor and Steve a foreman. They're just awesome. These folks go above and beyond even being so busy. read more

Our trailer was there for over 6 weeks for an estimate which we found to be absolutely ridiclious but Caitlyn came to the rescue. She worked diligently at making sure she did everything she could do for us. We appreciate all she did, especially considering she was absolutely swamped. I would not recommend General RV service to anyone unless they got to deal with her. Thank you for helping us keep our reservations and getting the best resolve possible during this crazy pandemic!! She deserves a gold star for sure!!!!! read more

They are charming while you are in the buying mode, but even during the warranty period they are dreadful. We bought a 2021 Thor and found some problems with house battery not charging. On our second short trip it was dead; got an urgent appointment at General RV Wixom to fix it (turned out to be faulty manufacturing), and only lost one day in a planned trip. Several other warranty problems lead me to take it back for work in the fall, but they told me earliest appointment would be two months later. Even then, they kept it for over two weeks and only confirmed the earlier diagnosis, said they now would order the parts, and scheduled me for another appointment a month later. They told me there were 200 vehicles in the cue for service in early spring of '22. They may not have enough technicians, or are just massively overloaded, but their service attitude and responsiveness get very disagreeable. Be prepared to be overcharged, delayed, misinformed, frustrated, and looking for anywhere else you can take it. read more

My husband and I had the worst experience at general rv in Wixom. Nobody listened to us on the payment where we wanted . They all were way over on what we wanted to spend . We would have walked away. Instead, we were pushed from one person to another. And the worst person of all was Ricky Cory. He did not let us speak . He talked over us. Very unprofessional and rude. We tried to explain the situation and he did not want to hear anything we had to say. I told him I'm going to talk to the president of General RV and he told me he was the president. He said he was out of town for four days for a wedding and he has a life . So basically we were a bother . He handed our file to someone else and it had the wrong information on the price ,down payment the camper we were looking at. We walked away from this deal . It was stressful and aggravating. All they had to say is that we cannot get the payment where we wanted from the beginning. read more

Salesman Dan who's been there 23 years told us that we wasted his day on the biggest sales day of the year when we wanted to think about the purchase of an expensive RV. Insulted us enough for us to walk out and never want to do business with General RV again. I explained to him that our not everyone can walk in and decide to purchase a $250,000 RV on the spot. It's a big decision. He said we should have done our research before walking in and wasting his time. I told him he was insulting and he said go look in the mirror. We were on the verge of buying until he went nuts and called us names. We will purchase elsewhere. read more

they promote the keep you camping program like it's the greatest, but they won't honor it. we bought brand new, used the trailer once & discovered a major leak. they're booked 3 weeks out & only give us one time to drop it off (and we happen to work). they say no after hours drop offs. read more

For potential RV buyers out there, make sure you do your research on dealership. Having issues from delivery day (wanted to give me less on my trade in and holding my deposit as hostage) they wanted $2000 more for 6 month old window crack which was there already when they inspected. Anyway, just had sliding door window popped out and broke during my 5,000 miles trip and had to deal with my dealership due to emergency repair bill and proper warranty repair. Winnebago shipped them complete module but dealership decided to only pop in the window and called a day. I asked them how do they know if frame is not bad and they said, they will fix it again, if that happens. I have confirmed with Winnebago that they sent complete module. The dealership is General RV group and my dealing with them in multiple location (both in Michigan and Illinois), I would strongly recommend stay away from them. Smaller dealership seems to give you more personal care. The Chicago suburb authorized Winnebago dealer saw my Revel at 8am Monday morning without appointment and gave me emergency repairs and I walked out at 9am. Please don't overlook the importance of dealership service. One indication is call their service department and see if you can get live service advisor on the phone. It takes me 3 days or more to get anyone to call you back from them (Sales will call you right back and they cannot help with service). read more

I went with my sister July 2, 2019 to the Novi General RV she wanted the RV she bought from them 40 miles earlier to get ready for summer, they had winterized it in the fall. After getting a write-up for $161.00 to get it ready for summer, $185.00 for oil change, and $260.00 for general inspection. She was shocked at the bill which was over $700.00 dollars for whatever extra cost they added in. When I came over and saw the bill I asked why after 40 miles it would need all this service? No answer! Did I mention she bought it from them 40 miles earlier? She put RV on the road Wednesday July 3, 2019, after turning on water heater she smelled something heating or burning while driving, after stopping in Taylor on Telegraph she noticed waster valve on fresh water tank open. Fortunately we had not got on I-75 yet, or we could have burned up. LADIES BEWARE BE INFORMED! read more
