You hear it everyday...Shop Local, Support Independently Owned Businesses that provide jobs...This is the Place! The General Store is a Spokane Icon. They are Family owned and operated and have been serving Spokane for Decades! I dare you to go inside and browse around and come out empty handed... You can't. I found something cool in almost every department of the store. The Automotive counter carries parts that no one else in Town stocks...High Performance parts, Motorcyle Helmets, gadgets and gizmos galore! The Clothing Department prides itself on it's wide range of winter wear and work clothes. I found my Dad a pair of insulated Wrangler Jeans there. I found Boots,Coats, Gloves and Hats for all of my Grandchildren. In the Camping area I bought sleeping bags and fun "Survival Kit" Canteens for my Grandsons to take when they go hiking and camping. The Housewares area has a great selection of everything from Coffee Grinders to Compost Bins you put next to the sink. The Toy department has fun play sets to encourage childrens imaginations...Farm sets, Camping sets, Hunting sets. Yes, they may have to be cautious of all of the crooks out there stealing and trying to pass bad currency and checks, but I dare you to go inside and not leave a piece of your heart behind as it becomes your new favorite local department store! read more

The store itself is great. There customer service on the other hand sucks. When a supervisor is telling a customer that their attitude sucks, makes me never want to go back. And i probably never will. I have had multiple bad experiences with them... I've always kept my cool but of course when someone in charge says things like this my attitude is of course going to change. If there staff was completely different it would be a great place! read more

I have always enjoyed this store. You can find everything and the staff have always been pleasant, until I had an unfortunate run in with the morning floor manager. During the work week, I came into the store following other people in. It was my fault that I was not aware it was 3 minutes to 8 am and they don't open until 8. Apparently all those people were employees. I found what I needed with the assistance of a great clerk who never mentioned that they were not open yet. I went to checkout and the floor manager told me they were not open until 8 a.m. When I asked what time it was, he said 2 minutes to 8. I told him I would wait or leave, he said no stay here but we don't have our checkers available yet. Again I said I didn't mind waiting and apologized again. He told me I walked in with the employees and I apologized again. I apologized 5 times in the course of the conversation, I just wasn't aware it was before 8 a.m. Even after offering to leave and apologizing, he again told me I was wrong and should not be in the store. He could have been nice about it. I should have just left. I can guarantee I won't be back. Too bad. read more

Bought a heater to attach to a 5 gal propane tank. Was so touchy it would shut off at the slightest vibration so I gave up after 10 mins and tried to return it the next day with the recipt. Barran I think was the guys name. He refused to take the heater back because it had been turned on. .I work in construction and buy a ton of tools, clothes, and accessories (like heaters). I have NEVER had a problem anywhere else w similar issues of faulty equipment. I will NEVER shop at ace general store in spokane again. Keep the lousy $50. U just lost thousands from me in future sales. Great job Barran. read more

I've gone to this store a few times in past,and more than a few times in the last week.everytime I have gone it's been a VERY good experience.espcially with the gun section (guy really knows his stuff),and the fishing section (that guy also is very helpful). But today I went in to pick some pellets up,And was followed around by a lady.she would just hide behind the end cap watching me.never once asked if I needed help.just watched me at each end cap...approaching the front of the store as im done shopping I see her point to me talking to another teller.now I don't know what she said,bit im sure it was about if I purchased something.the only reason she stopped watching me is because I caught on and just kept going back and forth.she got tired of it and just waited by front of store....this is wrong.i was just there to purchase some pellets and this is the first time I have had a bad experience...LADY,NOT EVERYONE STEELS.Sure not worth the money going forward u loose by loss of sales..that's very unfortunate,it's a good store, and ur making the store look bad. Change jobs! there were other people there,u did not follow them.only me.Again very very unfortunate. read more

Was accused of shoplifting. The security guards followed my brother and I through the store. They confronted us just outside the doors. We turned out our pockets to show them we hadn't stolen a $2 drill bit. Wasn't impressed, so I went inside to talk to a manager and he didn't seem concerned with the situation. They lost a customer for life. read more

Knowledgeable staff at the hunting counter (my usual department) plenty of sports gear. They fixed the arrows that I had cut there. Sometimes a little hard to get service there, but never really been disappointed with the service I got. read more

I was just in this store asking for a return on a car chipped-key because the key had managed to bend in the two weeks I owned it. The store manager tried to unbend the key and give it back to me when I explained that I wanted a refund because the key was not good quality. He refused saying I would not get a refund because he wanted to check if it worked in the car. I told him that I didn't have my car because the key didn't work. He blamed me saying that I bent the key on purpose and he was not going to give me a refund. When I continued to express my disappointment for the quality of his management, he had a worker page for a man to kick me out of the store and he began to walk away. The customer service I got was terrible there and I will never be back. read more

I had an opportunity to observe the professionalism of the employees at the General Store on Division St., in Spokane WA last weekend. Many of the employees seemed to be having a really nice time just chatting with each other and ignoring customers. One customer had to interrupt a friendly chat between two employees to explain that he had called ahead to see if General Store carried bilge pumps, and then drove 20 miles to buy one. The employee looked around a bit, said that, "We don't have those" and returned to his conversation, without calling for assistance. I saw a bilge pump and quickly walked up to the front to catch the guy, but he had stormed out. Later, as I walked up to the checkout line, the checker on my line and another employee were having a conversation about new merchandise they liked, one ran to the back of the store, brought up and stashed clothing behind the counter, that the two planned to buy later, while we all watched and waited.. I was looking around at the other customers, thinking 'oh my goodness'.... More than half the items I was looking at were not priced or tagged, I guess the employees don't have time for that. read more
