I did not have a secure feeling about your company from the beginning. Starting with the how the charges would be accrued. Then your very young technician did not perform a complete check of the generator until I requested such. I then had to have your technician finish removing waste oil from the discharge tube. Let's follow that up with an absolutely ridiculous quote from your parts sales representative for a simple muffler part replacement. And then I get a double charge for the services rendered. This whole experience smells like a scam. read more

This is a 2.5 stars review: OK I am very mixed with The Generator Connection (TGC) right now there have been some positives and there have been some negatives, however, the overall experience I would say is negative Positives: They do know about generators. The installed a great system into the house and the price was reasonable. they did advise me on the propane requirements and did have recommendations. We have a stand alone automatic generator put in place, it was a solid implementation Negative: I had the generator moved from one home to another which ran me near $3000. They did not coordinate with the propane company and thus i ended up finishing the job myself (covering over the lines, etc. This was not good service they said they would be back for a final inspection, it never happened. Overall: They have a nice product but they need to find balance as with prices like this I really should be writing a four or five star review not a 2.5 review read more

Highly recommended! My experience has always been top notch with The Generator Connection starting years ago when they were the only company out of 3 others I hired that could correctly diagnosis and repair the intermittently failing voltage regulator on the large diesel generator at my business. Then once I was ready to install a new Kohler at my house they handled every aspect from prepping the ground, delivery, digging trenches, electrical connection, startup and now routine service. It seams every contractor these days sells generators but this is one of the few companies out there that actually has dedicated service department to support the system after the sale/ installation! read more

This company is horrible! Was informed from start to finish will be a 6 weeks process to install but until today job is still incomplete! I'm not happy at all! They blame it on Mother Nature instead! This generator company is definitely a 5 star business! Everyone from the salesman, Jim who coordinated everything to the very efficient installation of our generator. It arrived earlier than expected which was a bonus.The service man was very thorough and explained everything to my understanding. I can't say enough about this company. Prices were fair market. I wish I could give a 5-star review. The product is great so far, the job done was what was promised, the cost was exactly what was expected-5 stars there. I had a few issues that yes, are minor, but not to me. The door to the basement was left open all day on a snowy day when they had to be in and out of the basement much of the day, and they left the stairs full of snow, which then melted into the basement. Not a big deal in that we have a cement basement floor, but any other work we have had done in or around our house, other workers have left completely clean, as expected and deserved. When I found that all that snow was melting in, I shoveled it myself after they left (I would have asked, had I known they were going to leave it). A couple of soda cans, wrappers, and a few tools were also left in the basement. Two workers who were in the basement most of the day used foul language a good part of the day. Perhaps they thought my daughter and I would not hear over the radio they had on, but they should be mindful of that. Mind you, I never asked for a reply to my email to the owner voicing these concerns (I wish I had in hindsight), but if I owned a company and was praised for the product received but had these complaints/concerns brought to my attention, I would have replied immediately. Even just to say, 'Thank you. We will work to improve on these issues.' A bit disappointing not to even get that acknowledgement, so overall it's a 3-star review from me. read more

We purchased a generator from these people in October 2017. They are awesome at selling their product and getting it installed for you but not so awesome after that. The first problem we had with them was when they tried to screw us out of part of the maintenance contract we purchased through them. Our contract ran from October to October but they sent us out a renewal contract to sign in June or July. The contract stated your coverage started that month and would end in the same month 3 years later. I called to inquire about this because our current contract didn't end until October so if I signed this and sent it back I would lose several months of coverage that I had already purchased. So anyone purchasing a generator in the fall watch out for that! Your yearly maintenance cleaning should be scheduled yearly from when you bought your generator and if you bought it in their high season they want to move you to the low season which is beneficial to them and not to you. There was no mention of refunding or crediting back the months we had paid and would now be losing so needless to say I did not sign their contract until it had the correct dates on it. This past weekend our generator started up and ran it's test run like it does every week but then shut down a few minutes afterwards and kept trying to restart itself after three or four tries it finally just stopped. I called the generator connection and reported the problem, they have an answering service on the weekend who will take a message and give it to them on Monday. I received a call from them on Monday morning to schedule a time for someone to come out and look at the generator she said they would have someone in my area on Thursday and I said OK. Thursday comes as does the technician who was here for 20 minutes and told me the problem was the bolts holding the carburetor to the engine had vibrated loose causing the carburetor to come off. He said that was strange and had never seen it happen before but he put the nuts back onto the bolts and re-fastened the carburetor back onto the engine and everything was now running great and there wouldn't be a bill as it was still under warranty. A couple of days later I receive a bill in my email for $225! 100 for labor and $125 for driving his truck to our house! Thank god he was in the area! When I contacted the business about this bill all I got was........the problem we found was not covered under warranty and our rates are stated in the contract. Well the next time there is a problem we will have someone else come check out the generator first and when the time comes that we need a new generator we will purchase it elsewhere. When the generator shut off that day my husband took a look at it when he got home and tried a few things to solve the issue but nothing worked. You can not see the carburetor unless you disassemble the outer part of the generator. So if you have a generator that shuts down and acts like ours did check for this problem before calling them otherwise you'll be paying through the nose after waiting a week for them to even come out. Update An hour after posting this I received a phone call from generator connection stating they had reviewed the service call and the email I sent and since they're servicemen was right in the area they have decided to waive the $125 fee for coming out to the house and only charge us the $100 for labor. I was already extremely happy with the technician's knowledge, expertise and his communicating to me steps I could take to help extend the life of the machine, along with his promptness in keeping the appointment. My prior concern about lack of communication on the part of the office was also remedied and I'm very grateful. They seemed the most knowledgeable and had good advice on the systems I was considering. The installation was prompt, clean and very professional. Last year, Dec 2011, I bought a Kohler generator (close to $8,700) from the Generator Connection. I was told that the Kohler generator was one of the best and most reliable generators. One year later I just got a call from the Generator Connection and they tell me if I don't sign up for a yearly maintenance service with them, that costs $240.00 this year, if anything happens with the generator because of a storm or loss of power that I would not be on the top of their Emergency repair list because I didn't have "them" perform the yearly service. The generator is under warranty for five years. We were never told about this annual maintenance program with them was a requirement when we were purchasing the unit. I personally feel that this is a way for them to make extra money from the consumer. I also was told that the maintenance man who does the service would be at my house for approximately one hour, I can't imagine the check will take an hour. I really feel $240 is a lot of money for this service, if I had to guess most of the time spent will be turning the system on and off and doing an oil change. Most maintenance guys want to get in and out fast, so they can get to the next service appt. Very frustrated and not sure if I'd go back to purchase anything from them again. read more
