My cat has been coming here for almost 10 years. There have been some changes and the vet is now under the Thrive Network. Costs can be high depending on what is needed and in our case our cat has needed multiple surgeries which adds up over time. The staff here is the main reason we come. They always do a great job communicating expenses and treatment plans. My cat has been through a lot but I know he is always in good hands here. The staff and vets are not only helpful, they are kind and caring for my dog and me. They understand that i have a timid rescue dog and make sure I don't have to wait in the waiting room, where there may be other dogs. They have my dog step on the scale when she enters the building. From there we go immediately into a vacant exam room where we wait for the vet and vet tech. I left anouther vet practice who did not take the care of my dog seriously. The first vet I saw at this practice immediately wanted to Xray my dog's bad front foot. He found out she was walking on bone becasue the original bone break was not taken care of. Sad as that was, it also told the vet what medicines she needed to aviate the pain when she walked. I was with the other practice for over a year and, in addition to incorrectly diagnoses for a cancerous lump, they never botherer to pursue why by dog had an odd shaped front paw and why she favored it when she walked. I wish I could tell you the whole story of the cancer issues. Let's just say I was told that the vet tech at that proctice felt the lump and decided it was a fatty tumor. I was the one who insisted on a biopsy and , guess what. the tumor was cancerous. They were her doctors, her advocates. Yeh, right. The vet practice, that I won't name, is the one that's across route 96 from the dermatology building and in the same block as a paint story. read more

Brought our cat here, after having it recommended by a friend. When making the appointment, the person I spoke to on the phone was really friendly and helpful. At the office they were friendly and helpful as well, and gave us a number of options of what we could do to address the health issue our cat was facing. They have hours on Saturdays, which is helpful if you need to bring a pet in on the weekend. They also have a sister hospital nearby so they can get you an appointment there if it is urgent and they don't have an appointment. read more

I have been a loyal patient of Perinton Vet (well, rather my dog Asia Marie) for 6 years now. Dr. Ken Scheider is professional, friendly, knowledgable, and has a passion for his job that exceeds any other vet I have ever met. He makes my dog (and myself) comfortable with each visit, explaining everything very clearly. When my beloved baby girl Asia had cancer he handled the situation with the utmost of care. I was shaken, scared and unsure, but Dr. S's wisdom was unfailing and steadfast. He saved her life! And hey, I was even educated with some savvy vet terms along the way. (Clean margins anyone?!) Another thing that makes Dr. Scheider so great at his canine craft is that he is very considerate of suggesting plans of action that won't necessarily break my wallet. He understands that in my situation of a single dog mom (hey, it's a ruff life at times!) that vet bills can be dooming and frightful. Will loves EVERYONE at this office. Dr. Spring has an amazing really super awesome bedside manner and is so good with his goofiness as a 120lb puppy. He had an upset tummy right after we moved here and we hadn't chosen a vet yet much less unpacked. I called after scanning reviews and Katie quickly emailed what signs and symptoms to look out for and what to feed him while he wasn't well. We weren't patients yet and there was no "well bring him in tomorrow for this xyz exorbitant amount so we can tell you the same thing," it was just true unabashed compassion which we lack as humans and a society more often than not. Sometimes you have to switch vets. It happens and that's okay! Our dogs love coming here! They bound right into the room and smell all around - a clean happy place! The doctors and staff are just lovely to work with and they always try to get us in if we have an emergency or strong concern about the health of our dogs. Highly recommend! I will use Perinton for all of my pets but they are a must if you have a dog/pet with any anxiety or fear issues. I have used Doctor Scheider for the last 8 or so years for my very anxious dog. He always took the time (and treats!) to help him feel as comfortable as possible. Before using Perinton, we used other vets that did not and in fact made my dog fear the vets much more by using force and not taking his comfort into consideration at all. There have been visits with the other doctors as well and they are all patient and kind. This is a group of compassionate people. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to my dog this past week. This was an extremely painful experience for us but the staff and doctor did everything they could to help us and our dog in that difficult time. read more

Everyone here was extremely nice and the atmosphere was calm/clean. Outside of that I've had nothing but issues. I have a now 10 month old German Shepherd. Who has had 5 infections. (All different ear, uti, bacterial, and now yeast and bacterial) She is also very lathargic, and water obsessed. All of which they didn't find abnormal. They suggested an allergy. They just treated the symptoms, didn't believe there was any underlying bigger issue. After her 4th infection didn't clear, we decided it was time to try a new vet. Immediately I was told it's very abnormal for her to have that many complications at her age. They also found she had two separate infections even though she was only being treated/diagnosed for bacterial. The new vet believes she has either a hormonal imbalance or diabetes insipidus. He has a few other ideas that are less likely. Neither of which she was ever tested for at Perington, or even discussed as a possibility. I would suggest them for routine matters but never for anything out of the ordinary. My gut told me some thing was wrong and they kept reassuring me this was normal. I feel guilty that she has spent her whole life ill. read more

I have used Perinton Veterinary Hospital for almost 30 years for 3 dogs and 2 cats. While the original vet has retired and turned the business over to the new staff, the quality of care my pets have received has been consistently caring and of high quality. I use their boarding facilities as well. My current dog was a stray we took in and has some behavior issues that I do not trust with just anyone. They do a wonderful job with him and I never have to worry. All of the staff at Perinton Vet truly love animals and go above and beyond. read more

This Veterinarian Hospital was an absolute awful experience for first time dog owners. Everything involved in our experience felt like a cash grab from the first appointment to a simple rabies vaccination that required another "exam" for a dog that had just had a first visit exam two weeks prior. Repeating original vaccinations already received and the vaccinating the booster when explicitly told not too makes me wish I had done my research to see if they were BBB certified before hand so I could file a dispute. Steer clear of this business unless you like to be taken advantage of is my advice. Happily transferring our services to another veterinarian. read more

On May 18th our German Sheppard required emergency surgery in order to save his life. as a pet owner, we did our best to get him care but two facilities could not accommodate the surgery due to many factors, and its the end of regular office hours. Imagine the feeling of desperation, frustration, and a lack of direction in order to get help for our dog. This is where the importance of one phone call to Ken Scheider at Perinton Veterinary Hospital made all the difference in the world to us and saved our dogs life. Not only did Dr. Scheider agree to do emergency surgery, he performed the surgery sometime after 8:00 p.m. We were not only extremely greatful but amazed at the fact that a staff of 5 also remained at Perinton Hospital during the surgery. THIS EFFORT PLACES KEN SCHEIDER AND HIS DEDICATED STAFF ABOVE THE REST, AND FORGET ABOUT THE 5 STAR REVIEW; GO TO A WARM, CARING ENVIRONMENT THAT DESERVES A 6 STAR RATING. While most of my experiences have been wonderful I have to say how very disappointed I was on Wednesday November 22. My animals have been patients there for 20 yrs and in a time when I really needed them I was told they were too busy and to go to the emergency vet in Henrietta. My pet needed to be put down and I had to do this with people I didn't know. At such a crucial time I can't believe they couldn't fit me in. I've personally had scheduled appointments and been told I would have to wait due to an emergency. I wish the same courtesy would have been extended to me last night. Putting an animal down is never easy and to do it in a strange place not to mention extreme cost was heartbreaking. If I didn't love Dr Fish and Dr Smith so much I would move my pets to another veterinary hospital. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I'm heartbroken and will never forget this experience. To Dr Fish, Dr Smith, Tammy, Charmaine and a few others, you in my opinion are why I remain loyal to Perinton. I appreciate everything you have all done over the years. Last night was hopefully not something that will ever happen again. Shame on those who turned me away in a desperate hour of need. I will never recommend anyone to this individual. Thanks for making this Thanksgiving less than pleasant for my family.
