I just saw that my review was removed. It had 6 "useful" ratings, so I cannot understand why Yelp would remove it.
My cat Ally was a patient of Dr. Andy Fleming at Cat's Exclusively since she was a kitten in 2009. She was a rescue, in very bad shape and in need of an expert. He and his staff were amazing. They instantly loved Ally and made her a vibrant, beautiful cat. Over the years, she developed a deep fear of being in the car. She would open-mouth breathe and pant while in the carrier on the 40-minute drive to Dr. Fleming's office. So after her last trip there in 2014, we decided to use the Doorbell vet. Fast forward to September 2018, Ally, over the last couple days had developed rapid breathing. The Doorbell vets wouldn't see her because they said she needed to be tested in a full-service facility. Dr. Fleming had since retired. So having no other options, I took my chances on Dr. Lann, the new vet at Cat's Exclusively. Well that morning is one that will haunt me probably for the rest of my life. When I arrived at the vet, the receptionist was outside, so I gave her my cat, and proceeded to park my car. When I got inside, Ally was already behind closed doors being prepped for an x-ray. There was not even a moment to calm her down after the ride. When I approached the door to where she was, an assistant of Dr. Lann closed it in my face and told me that I could not come in. No smile, no politeness, just a stone cold face telling me 'no' while I was worried and concerned for my beloved pet. The next time I saw Ally, she was in the oxygen cage open-mouth panting. The x-rays showed that she had heart failure, fluid in her lungs. Prior to arriving, although her breathing had been rapid, she was not gasping for air. She was eating, going to the bathroom and relaxed. My instinct told me to take her home immediately because, from my experience with Ally, I knew the open-mouth breathing wasn't due to lack of oxygen but rather the anxiety of the whole ordeal. When I said that, Dr. Lann told me that if I took her home, "She would be dead in two hours." Well, by keeping her in that cage, she was dead in less than two hours. She continued to pant and open-mouth breathe. Then after an hour or so of this, he and his assistant gave her an injection, which they told me was a sedative to calm her. Against my better judgement, I agreed to it. She took her last breath about 15 minutes later and we went home with a $500 bill and my Ally in a box. I've had pets for over 40 years and this was hands-down the worst experience I have ever had with a veterinarian. There was no bedside manner, no compassion from anyone in that office. They just treated Ally like a number. They did not take her personality or her fear into consideration. They didn't know her. They didn't ask me one question about her aside from her symptoms. They just grabbed her and did their tests, gave her injections and put her in that cage. I always did everything I could to protect Ally, knowing her fears. She did not deserve to die like that. I cannot speak for him and his staff regarding regular visits but in an emergency situation, when a quick decision could mean life or death, this is not the place to take your pet. read more
