I want to start by saying this review has NOTHING to do with my stylist, who was and is amazing. I will definitely be returning because of her. However, my experience with the front desk staff and the booking process was incredibly frustrating to say the least. I called a couple of months in advance to schedule my appointment and then called again the Monday before my appointment (that Saturday) to confirm the price of the service I wanted (balayage). The woman I spoke to quoted me $203.00, which I was fine with and had planned my finances accordingly. When I arrived for my appointment, everything with the stylist went smoothly, but when I went to check out, I was told the total was $328.93--$125.93 MORE than the price I was quoted just days earlier. This is a huge discrepancy, and it caught me off guard, especially after I had specifically confirmed the price only days before. Not only was I frustrated by the unexpected cost, but it also meant I couldn't tip my stylist as generously as I had planned. This lack of transparency and poor communication from the front desk is completely unacceptable. It's a huge disappointment because the stylist was wonderful, but the experience overall was marred by the miscommunication. I strongly urge the salon to address their pricing clarity and ensure that customers are quoted accurate information to avoid situations like this in the future. Kim did a fabulous job on my manicure. My nails were very brittle after being serviced at another salon and she performed a gentle gel removal followed by a lovely scrub and massage. She is wonderful! She repeatedly checked to make sure I was comfortable and applied my color thoughtfully. I requested a glitter polish accent nail and she took the extra time to apply it with a sponge for extra glitter effect. very limited gel colors! It makes me so sad to post this the business is broken. I offered to take an appointment that was another customer's cancellation, on short notice. I was told it was on friday via phone and happily marked my calendar... then received a call on the day prior stating I would be charged for missing my appointment... someone else's appointment! I was told I should have known the appointment was on a different day than i was initially told based off an email confirmation. I never signed up to receive email or text as primary confirmation... yet starting this week the salon decided that how they should start contacting me? If you have a record of calling your customers with a confirmation 24hrs before, that's what they will come to expect. A misunderstanding that could have been solved by making a confirmation call, as specified in customer my file... resulted in a lost & hurt customer. For 2 years I was a loyal customer here, always booking in advance. I've paid full cancelation fees when it was my goof with no grief... my fault, not theirs. The salon runs a bad business, they hire almost entirely apprenticeship pay level nail artists, despite their experience & force their artists to buy their own colors and nail art supplies out of pocket. Shame on the the owner of this place for taking advantage of their employees & throwing away happy customer's like yesterdays trash. Say what they want but the staff roll-over here speaks for itself. Aaron mentioned on fb that one of nail techs was having a special to help build her clientele as she was new to the salon, but has "15 years of experience". So I was happy to go in last week for my first Aveda Essentials Pedicure. The whole salon is gorgeous and the inside definitely lives up to it's "Seaside" name. The nail area is beautiful and the chairs are very comfy. It was probably the most comfortable I've ever been while getting a pedicure. The tech who did my pedicure was very sweet and made it very relaxing. She was also able to fit me in for a removal of my full set, which I appreciate. I do have a couple complaints though. I guess I picked a polish for my toes that was on the thicker side. When my pedicure was done, it looked fine from where I was sitting. As soon as I got home and saw my toes in the natural light, I was very disappointed to see how messy the paint job really was. So I called them to see if I could get it fixed and they said they could have me come in the next day. As soon as I entered the receptionist asked to take a look and said she couldn't see anything wrong with it. So I showed her the picture I took and she then said they could fix it. I just wish that it was mentioned WHILE I was in the salon that the polish was difficult to work with so I didn't have to waste my time driving back from Oak Harbor. They were not very apologetic about the fact that I had to go out of my way to come back to get it fixed. As someone who has worked in a hotel salon, I was always taught to make sure your clients know how much you value and appreciate their time. Also, upon arriving on the day of my pedicure I kind of stood their waiting for them to finish their conversation before even acknowledging me. A simple "Welcome! I'll be right with you!" would do. Very disappointed. As a side note, I would recommend to arrive much earlier than your appointment so you have some time to find parking. Very happy with my first experience. My mother also goes here and recommended. I have fairly dark hair for my natural color and I wanted a change to lighten it up, I am also in the industry no longer practicing so I can be a little picky. Bryana did my hair, our plan was to lighten as much as we could but keeping some of my natural color as well with the balayage. I have a lot of hair and my ends still had color, so I knew it could be tricky application. She was confident and explained everything very well. She was very knowledgeable in the consultation, and made me feel comfortable through the whole appointment. All the ladies were lovely, and I had a very pleasant experience. I recommend booking ahead, especially for weekends as those appointments fill out quickly. As long as there isn't an event in Coupeville parking was pretty easy--if its a pretty day on Saturday-give yourself time because parking can be filled up with tourists. read more

Saturday was my second visit to seaside. On my first visit, I had Miranda cut my hair and was so impressed I returned again, this time seeing Naomi. She was super friendly, greeted me as I walked in and got to work right away. She washed my hair and the Purology products used were really nice. The environment at the salon was beachy and beautiful. The staff who I interacted with were all friendly and it seemed as if there was a fun atmosphere and work environment. But it went downhill from there. It was terrible. Maybe Naomi isn't experienced with such long hair or maybe it was early and she just wasn't on her game. But, she brushed the wet hair over and over from my scalp all the way to the ends (half way down my back) pulling on the tangles from the root. A couple of times I visibly flinched and then finally I asked her if she could please hold the hair part way down while she worked out the tough spots. I have never had a hair appointment that hurt so much. This was a 9am appointment and for the whole rest of the day I had a terrible headache. This visit was just for a simple cut. My hair is very long and thick, I just asked for 'a good two inches' off the bottom. Somewhere in there was a miscommunication however, because she only took about 1/2 an inch off and then began to blow dry and style. At no point did she say she was finished and hold up a mirror for me to see and confirm that it was what I was looking for, she just immediately started to blow dry and once again, brush pulling tangles all the way from the root. Afterwards when she began styling, I realized that she was done with the cut and only then did she go back and trim the additional inch and a half that I requested - once it was already dry. She apologized saying, "Oh, I guess I should have taken you literally!" The wave she used to style it was pretty though, she did a great job with that. At the end of the day, I won't be returning to Naomi. She probably does a great job on shorter hair or other hair services, but I didn't leave convinced she had listened to me and was concerned with giving me what I was looking for. And that's what I expect when I go to a salon. I gave it a few days before writing this review. I highly value the reviews of others. A review like this would have helped me a lot in choosing who to cut my hair. I really like Seaside and I'm sure most experiences there are excellent, I likely will return, but to have someone else take care of my hair. **UPDATE** I appreciate that the director of Seaside reached out to me as a result of this review. I've been visiting the location for more than 18 months, and have never had less than excellent service! Both Andrea and Candice have cut my hair and shaped my goatee, with outstanding results - my fiancee insists that I go nowhere else. In fact, after a few trips there, she booked an appointment with Candice for herself, and loved it! Everyone that works there is very pleasant. Need a restaurant suggestion? They're right there with a great idea. No one there has that 'attitude' associated with some salons. Each time I've had an appointment, I've received a confirmation call 1-2 days before my appointment. Note: Always check Yelp's 'Filtered Reviews.' My mom, sister, and I all had a spa day here. For two of us, it was our first ever true "spa day" so we didn't know what to expect. We had an absolutely wonderful time here. The staff - Michelle, Buddy, Lorraina, et al - are kind, genuinely interested in their guests, and great at their respective jobs. No one tried selling us anything, and only made recommendations when we asked. The lunch came from a small curated menu from Knead and Feed - a cafe across the street - and was good. Gluten free available! I didn't care for the eating location - it was the manicurist's station, minus their tools. Just seemed a bit odd, especially considering it was a gorgeous day and we could've sat outside their back patio? (I don't care that I was in a robe, but maybe my mother would have.) Love the staff. The manager really didn't seem to care. Can't say anything about the spa services but it's mind blowing that she was so cavalier about the missing appointment. Since having visited the salon I have had to cut over 8 inches off my hair because they damaged it so badly. They blew out the cuticle and even with my hair being at my chin length now there are still large portions where I can't even run a brush through my hair because it just breaks off. I am trying to get it back to a healthy level but unfortunately it is beyond any fixing and I'm just going to have to let it grow out and keep cutting out all the ridiculously damaged chunks (should take about a year). I have had many horrible experiences at salons & this just adds to it. I had scheduled a consultation appointment in which Lindsey and I had gone over what I exactly wanted. Then I later had scheduled my appointment. Before she begun, we then reviewed the pictures. She had what I thought was a good understanding of what I wanted. After she was done, I told her it was " a little to dark". And then said that the toner would fade out which would give my blonde the overall look I wanted. In the pictures I'm inserting . Is a picture of what I wanted my hair to be. What my hair turned out to be. And the right is what I did myself at home , as you can see the picture in the middle was taken exactly a week after I got it done . It shouldn't look like that with only a week. And a piece of the blonde looks uneven . It's not even an ombré like I wanted . After paying roughly 250$ for crap, I never wore my hair down so people didn't have to see how hideous this was. It's been 2 years since I treated my skin to a facial, and this lingering cold, dry winter air has absolutely wreaked havoc on my skin. I'm upset I didn't come in sooner!! I left my house in Oak Harbor a little early figuring the salons location on Front Street might cause an issue with parking on a Saturday, but there was plenty right around the block -- less than a minute walk. So because parking was a nonissue, I was 30 minutes early. But I was immediately greeted, and informed that Rachel, the lovely esthetician I had an appointment with, would be able to take me back early. I was then led to a private spa waiting area -- which was tranquil & lovely -- and offered coffee. I really appreciated the separation of the spa services from the smells and sounds coming from the front of the salon where the stylists and nail techs were, it really set the tone for the entire 2 hours I spent here. I had a classic seaside facial, and was able to add a power peel. This was my first peel experience and my skin is prone to slight irritation, so Rachel used a sensitive skin peel and only left it on for 2-3 minutes. It was just the right amount of time, and I'm experiencing no discomfort or redness. All together I spent $106, which seems to be the average price for this area. I've also decided to take advantage of their facial club program, -- $50 for 60 minutes when booking every 4 weeks, with no upfront costs -- and already booked another facial. I left the salon about an hour ago, and I had such a fantastic experience that I needed to immediately tell the world. I'm so relaxed, I feel like I floated home. read more

It's a gem in small town Coupeville. According to my aesthetician, their bldg used to be a house and is the oldest one in town. For someone who's not from the area, I was looking for a salon with really good ameneties and service. And yes, Seaside has that. They instantly offered me refreshments when I got there and gave me a tour of the salon. Well not that it's a huge establishment but I still appreciate the hospitality. I suggest that you book your apointments as early as you can coz they are usually fully booked for obvious reasons. read more
