Wow! Well worth the drive over to Geneva ... delicious gelato... we sampled pink grapefruit and the beat coffee I've had in awhile! Yum!! Right in town with lots of other fun food and drink and retail offerings - be sure to check them out

A bit pricey in my opinion... I got a 5oz gelato and my friend got a very small milkshake and the total came to just under $13! The gelato flavors I picked were black raspberry and kiwi; the flavor was good, the texture/quality not so much. The kiwi had some gummy-like pieces in it as if it has been sitting in the cooler a while and is getting old... and there was something a little hard in the black raspberry, but it didn't look like the seeds. As for the shake, my friend said it had a lot of ice pieces in it... a milkshake shouldn't have any ice in it, so I would classify it as more of a smoothie having been made with ice. On their menu it looked like they had a lot of specialty coffees, and loose leaf teas as well as bubble teas. If I were in the area again, I might stop in for a drink, but would not get gelato.

Good, but a far cry from what I was expecting. Raspberry was very good and tasty. Most of the offering were sorbetto.

The staff are friendly and helpful, too. Honestly, though, the best feature of this place is its location. It sits right near the Erie Canal, so you can get a cup of gelato, walk a few hundred yards down the canal path, and then settle onto a bench, look out over the water, and enjoy your gelato. That setting does more for the experience than anything on the menu. I do have a few concerns, though. The plastic serving cups are too small for the amount of gelato they hold, so it tends to melt and run down the sides, making for a messy experience. The plastic "spoon" is weirdly shaped like a small, flat shovel, and I much prefer a utensil shaped like a conventional spoon. Lately I've taken to bringing my own metal spoon with me. The cups also have an odd scalloped shape rather than smooth sides. I don't see any advantage to it, and it just makes getting all the gelato out harder than it should be. Switching to bigger cups with smooth sides, ideally biodegradable paper, would be an easy fix. As for the gelato itself, it's good but not great. I do enjoy sitting outside on a warm summer evening with a cup, but I can't say I ever find myself craving the product. Finally, and this is admittedly a very minor point, "Royal Café" is not a great name for this type of establishment. It sounds more like the name you would expect for a Chinese restaurant.

I…read moreoffered to take a friend of mine out for her birthday and this was the place she picked, and it was also her first time here. We both heard mixed reviews but in the end we both had a pretty good experience. We each started off with a cocktail, she got the biscotti one and I got some sort of margarita, both of which were made with house made gelato. We traded sips and both of them were great! I'm usually disappointed when I get cocktails anywhere anymore but these were very good. You're going to get a sugar rush before you get drunk off one, but they were still a great way to start off the meal. We each ordered a pizza too. I got just a plain one and overall i thought it had a very good flavor. the cheese was interesting, it was a little creamier than usual mozz but it worked out great. The sauce was also very good, it was a little sweet with enough seasoning to make it stand out. The dough had a nice neutral bread flavor, but I wish it was stretched a little different, the crust was huge but the part with the sauce and cheese on it was super thin and floppy. The pizzas are on the small side, and I don't think they use a wood fired oven, but it was still good. I would like to try a regular entree next time, but I would definitely like to have their pizza again. The restaurant itself is on the small side but it's pretty nice on the inside, not too upscale but a little nicer than casual. I've seen a lot of complaints on here about the service but I had zero issues with it, our server was nice and the busser kept a good eye on our waters and was quick with refills. the prices were about what I was expecting, $50 for 2 pizzas and 2 drinks All in all I had a very pleasant experience, if you're hesitant about going, give it a shot.
