This place has really changed since I first came here. No more unlimited bowls!!!! I order a large and they give me this tiny bowl to put my veggies and meat in!!! The waitress was almost embarrassed to give it too me. Than the customer service was lacking!! Ordered an appetizer and received no fork I was so hungry I ate the potstickers with my hand. I'm not sure if this was a change in company policy but from looking at the location this location is struggling and I see why. Been here a few times and i think i finally got the spices right. The very first time i came i ddnt know how to use the spices and the food ddnt taste as good as it could have. After a few attempts i finally got the right mixture that i prefer and enjoyed my meal to the fullest. If you havent been here all you basically do is choose from a variety of meats, vegetables, fruits, and spices and give it to the cook so they can mix it all together. For those who are worried about cooks doing funny things to the food, you can literally watch them make it, as their is no wall in the way of you and the kitchen. But to tell you the truth the prices need to come down a bit. Yes you can add whatever you want and fill your bowl, but i can get more food at other places for less than $10. A regular bowl costs around $13 not including a drink and im not sure how much the large plate costs but regular bowls are sufficient. Horrible service! I decided to give this place a second chance from a previous bad experience but the place still sucks! The restaurant was not busy at all to justify their mix up with my bowl. I was eating lunch with a friend and some how his ingredients ended up in my udon noodles. They offered for me to make a new bowl but after waiting 30 minutes I was starving so I declined there great offer. Save yourself sometime and from bad service just head to the one on Lemmon which has way better service even when there extremely busy. read more

Lunch used to be $8 or so. $11 is too much for lunch. I spent $15 on a bowl and tea. The food was good as usual but the prices have gone up. I guess I should have checked the menu but since I have eaten there for years, I just grabbed a bowl. I would visit this location again but it would have to be for dinner. read more

After moving here 4 months ago, we're still finding our favorite places to eat. My wife and I both pass Genghis Grill to and from work, we always say we have to try the food. Well, the day was finally here after hearing my wife say, "Where do you want to eat while we're out"? We bath can say this restaurant was a pleasant surprise and on our list of favorite places to eat near our home. When we sat down our server Jen acknowledged our being 1st time customers and professionally explained the menu process. She was courteous, friendly and very helpful. We got our bowls and loaded them up with meats, veggies, spices and our sauce. After a few minutes, we got our food and it was delicious. My wife loves the concept of creating your own meal since we both have unique tastes. We loved the food quality, amount and the value of our meals. We will be back as this restaurant is part of our favorites list. read more

This place is horrible!!! I placed an order online at 8:21pm and my pickup time was 8:46. I arrived at 8:40. There were a lot of people there waiting before me for the online orders so I knew we would have to wait a few minutes. No problem because it was busy. I tried to be understanding of the situation. Remind you no one say one thing to us from the time we stepped in the door. After over 30 minutes the manager comes out and started helping the ppl that where waiting in front of us then left to take of the ppl that need to be seated. There was a line of customers there as well. Ok.... now I'm waiting again. The waitress started taking to go orders and I standing there waiting for an online order. She skipped me twice and that was it for me I had to say something. My food was sitting right there on the table the whole time COLD! I finally got my food at 9:35. My wife and I came to this restaurant when they opened back up cause we love Genghis grill and no issue. We back 2 weeks later and were going to order take out based on a email coupon we received. When we arrived we went to the bar to order and the attendant at the bar completely ignored us, looked at us and walked off. Another ear server came and even asked if he was taking our order and he said " no you take it". We hadn't even said anything to anyone at this point. We were just waiting for someone to take our order. After we went to thru the line we noticed that we forgot to advise of our 2.00 off coupon, when we advised the same attendee from the bar that ignored that us we had forgot to do the coupon, his answer was "well that's too bad, it's too late now". We asked for the manager and he advised he would talk to him but should have addressed it right then and there. As we were leaving that same waiter from the bar made sure to come over and say have a nice day as we were leaving. He was unprofessional and rude for no reason, as soon as we walked in he was rude. Dirty and smelly. The room smelled like sour cat pee. My table had rice on it. When I scrapped it clean with the menu the wait staff watched and didn't offer to wipe it down. I asked them to wash the table, which they did, but they left the seat cushion smeared with food. The food and service were ok, but just can't get past the sticky floors, tables and seats. read more

First and last visit to this restaurant. The restaurant and bathrooms were dirty, dish towels were left on the ledge by the bowls that were cooked and waiting to be served, and the other food-goers were extremely rude and inconsiderate. My hubby and I were cut in line three times by a woman jumping back and forth from vegetables to seasonings and she then proceeded to ask us to hurry and put our bowls down because the rest of her party were seated and waiting. We were also charged for the bottomless dinner bowls when we only had the regular dinner bowl and they refused to reimburse. We'll be sticking to our neighborhood Mongolian Grill where the service, food and other patrons are much more desirable and you get way more food for less money. read more

Came here for lunch two days ago with my daughter and mama. We all got large bowls seeing as they were $13 during lunch hours. It's been a while since my last visit and one thing I noticed that has changed was there was no shrimp out. I asked a worker who was putting out some other meats did they have any shrimp and she informed me that it is only available after 4pm....???? Then she says, "Right now it's two dollars more." Hmmmm okay..this put a damper on my visit because I make my bowls with chicken and shrimp. I didn't want to pay the extra $$ so only chicken for me. My bowl was good, would have been better with shrimp too!!! The hostess and server were very kind but the service itself was kinda off..we had to ask for silverware and our bowls sat on the counter for a while before our server brought them to us. This location has recently changed their policy and now if you don't finish your food and want to take your leftovers home, they charge you an extra $6. This is ridiculous. I looked to see if it was a company wide change or if it is just this location and apparently it's just this location. I am not sure I'll be back. Food is good but price for lunch was what I consider expensive. All you can eat was $10.99 each + tea was $2.29 per glass for plain old brewed tea. For those watching carbs the food is served over the rice or noodle choice so you might want to ask for it on the side. All together with food, tea, tax & tip it was over $30.00 for lunch for 2. No soup or soft serv ice cream like at Ton's Mongolian. They did have a larger meat choice including calamari but for the difference in price I'll stick w/Ton's Mongolian on N Hampton in DeSoto. read more

This place was filthy. The bar was covered in spilled sauces and food everywhere. Lousy service. Waitress came back 3/4 of way through meal. Asked for 2nd glass of wine. 10 min later food done and still no wine and no explanation as to why. Finally got up and went to front and just asked for bill so we could just get out. My first time to visit the grill and really did not know what to expect..... what I experienced was an expensive bill for a place that isn't your typical "sit down and be waited on" restaurant. We were told to go thru the line and that recipe cards were available to guide us. Ok...figured that out, prepared our own bowl of food, waited for it to be cooked, and when it came out there just wasn't a lot in the dish! Did not have any guidance on the fact that the vegetables would "shrink" so much during cooking! The chicken was not tender, very tough. The bill came and it was $ 46. for 4 at lunchtime! And it was NOT all you can eat. The tea as it turned out was $ 3. a glass (they think an awful lot of their tea evidently). This bill was not for 4 adults, rather 2 adults and 2 kids. First time here and probably won't come back. Over priced, small amount of okay-ish tasting food. I ordered the medium sized bowl, and was given a small metal bowl to fill that was the same for all the sizes (small, medium or large) which I could barely fit anything in. I then got maybe a half a cup or less of fried rice and maybe a half a cup or less of the noodles, all the food maybe filled half of the to go box. I paid for the medium (11.40!!!) to get more food and got the amount that was for a small. Very very disappointed, and the lack luster customer service made the whole experience terrible. This was my first time being here and I really enjoyed everything, great customer service and the food was fresh and hot.

Food up to the usual Gengis Grill standard, but the service was crappy. The floor was sticky, the hostess can only be described as 'weird', and our waitress (who we barely saw, and only after long waits) seemed to find us less interesting than her cell phone or the guy at the bar she was flirting with. "Tons Mongolian Grill" was closed by the time we decided to go tonite... So we tried Genghis... BIG HUGE MISTAKE!! At Tons Mongolian Grill you can get up to 3 NICE SIZE bowls each trip for your meats, veggies & noodle bar... ALL YOU CAN EAT. Put your meat (chicken breast, beef, shrimp, crab, sausage, tofu) & veggies (lots of fresh choices) and noodles (rice at the stir fry grill), with garlic & various liquid flavorings... however you want to mix it... for just $10.99/pp (eating in). For "TAKE-OUT" the cost is $12.99 - $14.99 if you do "2 piled-high" bowls or "3 bowls" full. The food tastes fresh and delish!!! Of course... the seasonings (liquid only) are your masterpiece... or not! LOL!!. The chicken breast & beef are sliced thinly and cook very nicely with ur veggies, so they are crispy and fresh tasting... NOT over-cooked and mushy! Everything at Genghis Grill is OVERCOOKED & MUSHY because the chicken pieces are cut so Thick and square (so you can only get a few pieces in your ONE LITTLE BOWL)... they MUST OVERCOOK UR VEGGIES, so ur chicken won't be raw & rubbery tasting. I really enjoy this location, first walking in you get a good vibe from the restaurant feel and the bar feel of people enjoying their drinks and conversation flow seems endless with the small cozy bar area. Once you're seated, the food line is awesome, you get to pick your own protein which varies from different types of seafood, poultry and fish, then you season it, you fill your bowl with vegetables and then you pick your sauce and you hand it out to the Grill Master (Tony is an awesome grill master) who then asks you several questions about food allergies, what kind of starch you like and if you would like any eggs and which way you prefer to have your bowl cooked. Seems like the whole process of grilling the bowl takes no more than 5 minutes then while you're sitting enjoying your drink you get your bowl brought over and you can use a traditional fork or chop sticks. Richard the store manager came by our table and checked in on us, if Richard is not there, Joey who is also a manager does the same and so does Peatrice. All went well at Genghis and their drink choices are amazing, whether is an alcoholic drink or just a soda, tea or water, is all good. Other things I enjoy are the fact that if you don't want to specifically choose your bowl ingredients, you can choose a card that has a bowl already built and you just fill it with what's written on the card. You can also stand next to the grill and watch them cook your food in a traditional Mongolian style with wooden sticks. I love Genghis Grill and in this location, everyone has been nothing short of amazing. My warrior (server) was Ashley and she was fun and always helpful. I visited Genghis grill tonight 7/27/2014. My younger brother and I ordered our food Togo and were taken care of by the bartender Gabrielle. When we got to the line to fix our bowls there was one other person in line fixing two of her bowls with protein (meat), taking her time, and she told us to go in front of her. Which was no problem at all, she was very kind. There was no one else in line so my brother and I decided to get our veggies first then go back to the protein, when the lady finished. As we were putting our veggies in the bowl there was a young man, an employee, that said "You're not allowed to back track after you have your protein" he didn't realize that we didn't have our protein yet because the lady was still taking up the room where the protein was. So my brother and went back to the protein, as we were walking back to the protein the young man said "They must didn't hear me" I Stated "Yes, we did hear you but this young lady in front of us was taking her time gathering her protein for two bowls so we decided to get our veggies first" He then realized that it was not on purpose and he let the situation go. Three minutes later another employee that I found out later was a General Manager, Ray Jordan came out of nowhere behind the protein buffet and told my brother and I "That we had to pay a $6 fee for back tracking the line" after I already told the first employee what had happened. So I repeated what I told the employee, to the general manger. He then stated that we still had to pay the $6. I told him that it was simply a mistake and there was no intention of me or my brother back tracking. I did understand where the manager was coming from because I work at a fine dining restaurant myself and I respect all rules. But I rarely go to Genghis grill. I have only been twice this year so I did not know that my brother and I getting our veggies first was a problem, if I did we would have never broke that rule. But since I never knew I felt that I did not have to pay an extra $6 for three bowls each. I purchased two and my brother purchased one. Once I let the manager know that it was a mistake and that I was not going to pay an extra $18 for something I didn't know about, he turned to the side and did a very big "Huff and puff" like I made him mad or angry, I didn't say anything afterwards I continued going through the line. I felt that, that was VERY RUDE!!!! Before I left I asked him was he a manager and he stated he was the general manager and his name was Ray Jordan, and I immediately said "Okay! Thank You!" with a smile. He stated that if there was a problem that I reported he would call me, I told him I work for a restaurant and if my GM huffed and puffed at a customer that it would be very bad business! He acted as if he didn't care and walked off and said he's been in the business a long time, and I repeatedly told him that him huffing and puffing at me was very rude!
