My husband brought two fabric handbags of mine to Gentle Care after our regular cleaners informed him they didn't clean them. He did a search and found Gentle Care about 10 mins. further and brought the bags to them. They said they could clean them, didn't mention price .(just asked for his credit card for a deposit). OK, he doesn't feel great (on oxygen for Pulmonary Fibrosis) and owners couldn't have missed that! They never mentioned a price, just rang up his card. They didn't even tell him when the handbags would be ready until he asked, and the male clerk/owner(?) said "about a month, we have to send them out". After hubbie told me this when he got home, I asked to see the receipt. I was shocked to see they charged him an $85 deposit and planned to charge an additional $40-plus upon pickup. This was a Saturday so they squeezed in this outrageous ripotff of a sale just prior to closing. I left a scathing voicemail telling them to credit his card and have the bags ready for pickup Monday morning. Hubby went in to pick them up and get a receipt for a credit to his card. They had the bags, but the woman said she had (are you ready?) "NO WAY OF REFUNDING HIS CREDIT CARD"!!!!! At that point he just took my bags brought them home and proceeded to file a CC dispute against them. I also spoke with the (excellent) BOA rep who confirmed that no service was ever provided by Gentle Cleaners, and they did not handle things in a professional manner. May I suggest to all that you to NOT do business with this unscruplous company?? There are local competitors who conduct their business in a legitimate fashion!! P.S. FYI, we won the dispute, but we should never have had to go through all that in the first place! :-) read more

I was looking to get a pair of dress pants cleaned right away and looked up other places that did the cleaning in house. (My usual choice sends it out.) This spot came up with good reviews and I decided to give them a try. They're in a small plaza with a restaurant and some other businesses. There isn't a lot of parking, but I suggest going during a non-peak meal time to find a spot. I've been fortunate to find parking both times I've gone. The owner was present when I arrived with my pants. He confirmed he could do a delicate cleaning on these and would not press a crease into the pants. (His rule of thumb is to not put a crease in unless the customer asks.) He did recommend that I remove the button as he didn't have a spare, which the instructions in the pants suggested anyway. He loaned me a seam ripper from the back so I could remove the button before he took the pants. They do not use harsh chemicals on dry cleaning here - good for those avoiding harsh chemicals and wanting an eco-friendly cleaner. Prices are very reasonable here. My pants were finished on Monday afternoon with no rush charge. (I dropped them off on Saturday.) The pants looked crisp but not crunchy - ready to wear after being picked up. read more

Given the dearth of dry cleaners in the area, I would love to find a place that provides good service but also at least gives off the impression that they are happy to have me as a customer vs just giving me expressionless service that gives off the vibe that they honestly don't care if I come back or not. This establishment has pricing that is in line with others in the area and my clothes are done when they say they will be, but to me that is the price of entry in terms of a dry cleaner because every place should be able to deliver on those two things. Unfortunately, whenever I went in, I just got the impression, right or wrong, that I was nothing more than a transaction, as there was no smile, no greeting, no anything. Again, they didn't provide bad service and they delivered as promised, but those to me are table stakes, so I will choose to continue my quest to focus on frequenting places that give the appearance of valuing me as a customer. read more

After being soundly turned down by another cleaner due to fear of "messing up" my bedding, I took my queen-sized electric mattress cover to GCC. I spoke with Mike, the owner, and after speaking with him a few minutes on what equipment he has, he assured me it would be cleaned properly with no damage. His store has a mega-sized capacity washer to handle big bedding like this. Just to be safe, I included a hard copy of the washing instructions, although they're printed on the bedding. When I returned to pick it up, I took a quick sniff to make sure there were no lingering chemical/soap odors, and there were none. I was impressed with Mike's attitude, the quality of his business, and even how he packaged the pad to give back to me! I thought the price was a bit steep, but still highly recommend. read more

I have been a Gentle Care customer for over 17 years. The service has been outstanding pre-, during and post-pandemic. The counter staff always have a smile. Besides dry cleaning, we have used their seamstress services as well as their rug cleaning services. If there is a question, Mike is always there to help. I brought in 4 smoke damaged and kitty abused shirts - 2 of which are knitted, 1 silk. The lady behind the counter promised to do the best they could and my pick up in a few days. All 4 are no longer soot stained from the fire! As for the nasty cat urine smell it's still lingers but is a million times better than what I brought in to them (and anyone with knowledge of this smell wil lunderstand this was a difficult task) . I got into town for a party and my sport coat was badly wrinkled. I called several cleaners to see if they could do a same day press without luck. I then called Gentle Care and at 12:00 pm and they said they were done doing same day service at 10:00 am but that if I brought it in quickly they might be able accommodate me. They actually perform the cleaning on site! I brought in an article of clothing with a stain that I thought would never come out and like magic it was gone. Also, they have pressed my son's Navy Whites and Blues perfectly and he passed inspection with flying colors. Tissues are stuffed in the sleeves to help keep it perfect. I had begun to believe that the day of your "local" family owned dry cleaner was no more. Growing up in the 60's my memories of our local dry cleaners was of a family owned business that always remembered your name, handed out a piece of candy to the kids, offered same day service - because they cleaned everything right there in the store, and did a fantastic job at reasonable rates. I hadn't experienced anything like that in over 20 years until I stepped into Gentle Care Cleaners when they opened in South Charlotte about 10 years ago. Mike, his staff, and his family treat you as if you are part of their family. I have, on more than one occasion, run into his business desperate to get something cleaned the same day. My cleaning was perfectly done - and not that day - but in less than 2 hours! The service here is horrible. It says "Same Day Service". I dropped off shirts prior to 10 am on Thursday and was told they would be ready Monday after 5. I said no, I needed them for a trip and was leaving on Sunday. She said I could pick them up Saturday after 2. I said fine, but I could not get there until after 4. The girl said fine, see you then. I just went to pick them up (Sat., 4:15) and they closed at 2:00. I will never go back. read more

We paid $32.00 to have a mans shirt altered under the arms. Needed it done so paid the asking price. Once the shirt was tried on at home the seams at the hips were taken in too much. We returned to have this fixed and they wanted to charge us another $15.00. The manager/owner was short and unfriendly for each of our visits. read more
