I have used V Cleaners often during the six years I lived in the 28205 area code but will never use them again, based on a recent experience. I came to pick up some clothing, including a scarf that I had left for cleaning. I pointed out a stain to the attendant at the time. I came back a week or so later picked up my cleaning and noticed that the stain was still there and there was a new area where part of the silk appeared to have melted and was flat and shiny. The person at the counter called the owner, who proceeded to cross examine me and accusing me of putting substances on my scarf. After an unpleasant back and forth, the owner said he would pay for the scarf. But after many follow-up calls, it's clear that he has no intention of paying for it. They could at least have returned the money to clean the scarf. read more

I live in the neighborhood of this place and never went there. I figured I'd give them a shot. Now I probably won't go to another dry cleaning place. The professionalism and courtesy of the front desk made my morning. She was sweet as candy. I also received a text message notification when my clothes were ready (and I had several pieces). They were done in a timely fashion and they notified me of a tie that was becoming unstitched in the back part that they (rightfully) refused to dry clean because it would create more damage. I appreciated that. They also do alterations so I allowed them to do so once I was visibly notified of the tie. Needless to say, A+ customer service. read more

Went in today for wash and fold. We live in the neighborhood. I work a few doors down the road. I need a place to help with the business laundry and personal wash and fold. I was told pricing in a way that basically inferred it is very high and I probably couldn't afford it. I said ok, then can I weight quickly. No he doesn't have a scale. He really doesn't do wash and fold. (There is a large sign you can see from the road that says wash and fold.) I just said oh ok I'll go somewhere else. You certainly Lu don't make it sound appealing. They might as well have just punted me out the door. Certainly lost the opportunity to do business with us whether it's my business needs, dry cleaning, personal wash and fold, alterations. All of it. read more

The perceived "service" and the reality of the service provided by V Cleaners are far from the same. I took my shirts here in the hopes I would find a reliable and relatively inexpensive cleaner. Recognizing that I live near Uptown, the definition of inexpensive is determined by convenience. I took my shirts in for cleaning, and to my surprise, the cost was way out of proportion for the number of shirts I brought in. When I inquired about the cost, the attendant indicated that they had made the determination that the shirts needed to be "dry cleaned". Their criteria isn't based on the care label of the shirt , but on their unilateral decision on whether they should be dry cleaned or not. When pressed further, I was given the explanation that the buttons were non-white and deemed "special". As a result, they charge an extra fee on the off chance they need to special order a button. Stay away from this scam of a cleaner. read more

Pricing was ~$100, which I I initially thought was a bit high but given the amount of fabric and variation in materials I think it's appropriate. They had it done within a day or so. They always have a friendly attitude and remember your name. I never have to say my name or wait in line. They see me parking and have my clothes ready for me as soon as I walk inside. None of the dry cleaning is done on location, but the seeing and alterations are. Their work is very professional and done with your schedule in mind. I have used many alteration businesses, but this one is worth stopping in and giving them a chance to impress you too. They also have two slots that are reserved parking for their customers only. As of November 1, there is a new owner of V-Cleaners. I have been a customer for the 11 years I have lived in Elizabeth. Today, I already had my first issue. I realized the bill was high from my Saturday pick-up and the receipts on my clothes did not match the charge. I went back today and the owner insisted the computer showed I picked up all 3 parts of my dry cleaning, the charge was correct, and advised me to go home and check the individual tags of items to verify, since I couldn't find a 3rd receipt on my Saturday pick-up. Came home and nothing. I called back and spoke to a girl on the phone that reiterated what the owner said, that the computer showed all items picked up. I asked her to check in the back and low and behold, the 3rd part of the order was still in the store. The new owner has installed a new computer system and it's clear there is an over reliance on his data that doesn't allow room for the possibility of human error. The register only knows what is ready for you, not what has actually been delivered to you, so inventory your items. I was apologized to, but I was pretty frustrated that I was basically told I was wrong, the computer was right, and made multiple trips to discover this. The previous owners had systems in place without computers (used their memory) and I never had an issue in 11 years. The new management claims prices will remain, and it's a convenient place for me, so I plan to return. Hopefully, transition growing pains will be ironed out. Not a great start though.... read more

Anyways, to get to my point, my husband has all his shirts custom made and tailored ($$$) and we've been often disappointed by the treatment other dry cleaners have given his very special special clothes. After the third place ruined another shirt ($$$$) through its third-party cleaning facility, we finally asked his tailor which service he would recommend. He said, hands down, V-Cleaners. V-Cleaners does all of it's drycleaning and alterations in house. Your clothes are always ready by the next day after 3pm, the prices are VERY affordable, and the couple who runs the place are so sweet. The problem? They are located 30 minutes away from our home and their parking lot is impossible for my truck to fit, so I have to often get creative... and I'm a horrible driver. That's a one hour trip twice a week in my gas guzzler + the impending parking accident = $$$$$$$$$$$$. read more

I used to appreciate V Cleaners & Alterations for their speedy service, prices, and service with a smile. They run an eco-business by using "green" machinery to reduce their carbon footprint and clean in-house instead of sending the clothes out to a third-party cleaning facility like so many dry cleaners like to do nowadays. Furthermore, conventional dry-cleaning is far too polluting and I like to be prudent of the choices I make. The couple that runs this business has always been very nice and courteous toward me. I used to frequent V Cleaners & Alterations. In fact they used to be my go-to cleaners for all of my clothing needs and I even trusted them with my designer clothes. Sadly, that ended the day I picked up my favorite Ruehl No. 925 dress shirt. The buttons were destroyed and the shirt came out a bit tattered. I was devastated! For those unaware, the brand has been discontinued. Although V Cleaners tried to correct the problem by replacing the buttons, the stitching was very poor, with uneven attachment and many floppy buttons, and a few buttons have since fallen off. This was my first foray into their tailoring aspect, and I was thoroughly disappointed. However the biggest problem is that they failed to tell me what happened during pick-up, and argued with me when I presented it to them. I found this to be highly unethical. Since I have a keen eye I noticed the buttons as soon as the shirt and the other clothes were handed to me and immediately asked about it. There was an awkward moment, and after they stopped arguing that the shirt was given in that condition, they began to tell me that the heat from their machines had melted the buttons. Don't give them anything with buttons, apparently, since their machines are like Pac-Man. Had they told me about the damage when I came in, and before I noticed, I would have been finer with it, as the problem should have been easy to correct. "Should" being the operative word as it was clearly too difficult for them. So from that day forward, I started to patronize them less. I still send them my inexpensive new-to-me thrift finds (things without buttons) because they make them look like new, but I take the best stuff elsewhere. If you use V Cleaners make sure to carefully inspect the clothes while you are in the store, and don't expect to find your clothes in the same condition you left them in. I give it a two for old times' sake. read more

Well, I just left V-Cleaners to pick up one shirt that was dropped off Friday morning. I was rudely told that it wouldn't be ready until after 3 on Monday!! Really?! I started going to this cleaners because it was a referral from a friend of mine. I started referring other people here but I will stop the referrals immediately. Plus the quality is not great and never replace buttons when broken. I will find a more customer oriented business that appreciates customers. read more

Very disappointed! This is the first time I have used their services and granted the couple there seemed very nice, the curtains I dropped off for steaming ended up with holes in the back of the lining. When I got home and put the curtains up I proceeded to call them and let them know what had happened to see what they could do about it, and they told me to return them to the store and then bring the new ones back which they would steam for free. I'm pretty sure the store does not take back damaged curtains from dry cleaners. When I said they were not there before and that is the problem with the situation is there anything that they can do for me, they proceeded to say no one has ever complained about it before. When I specifically asked why they were returned this way I was told that they didn't want to ruin the fabric by actually removing the food stain but insisted it had been cleaned -- Made zero sense. Been using V Cleaners for 11 years. This family operated business is such a find. The owners know you by name after the first visit. They have your clothes ready for you to pick up before you walk in the door. Always greeted with a smile. They outsource their cleaning...but they always do a wonderfil job. I even had a moldy wool winter jacked that i found in a closet....they cleaned it right up and now its like new. I also say that im VERY impressed with the alterations....especially on Denim. Ive had alterations done by Nordstrom before and they have ruined $200 pants by taking them too short. At V Cleaners...she gets it perfect every time, and in a reasonable amount of time. I brought this place the dress that I have to wear in my sisters wedding as her maid of honor. I just needed an inch or two taken off the end of the dress however, the dress had a train. I told her specifically (multiple times) to NOT TAKE THE TRAIN OFF THE DRESS. I picked it up one week later and not only was the length two inches too short but she cut the entire train off of the dress and it was cut crooked at the bottom! I called and they told me bring it back the next day so that's what I did. I asked if she could fix it and she told me she no longer had the fabric so she could take the hem out but that was it. That didn't help the train issue, it still wouldn't make it long enough and it wouldn't make it straight at the bottom. I told her I just wanted my money back and I would pay someone else to attempt to fix it. She refused to give me a refund because "she didn't work for free" and "she didn't lose money because I told her the wrong thing." I all but lost it. I was already appalled at her less than stellar "tailor" skills and now the customer service was falling right in line. What a nightmare of an establishment. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRY CLEANERS!!!! I used them for the first time this week. I dropped off shirts for cleaning and light starch. One of the shirts had a 2" - 3" rip in the sleeve near the cuff. When I called they said they would try to fix the shirt and to bring it in. I brought the shirt back and the gentleman there said this was normal wear and tear on the elbow. I pointed out the rip was caused by them and was near the cuff, and he kept repeating it was normal wear and tear. I reiterated this was my first time using them, and I have never had a dry cleaners rip a shirt sleeve ever. I asked him to fix the shirt and/or give a refund or compensate me for ruining the monogrammed dress shirt. He said he would not fix it or give me any money and he walked off. They did not even apologize, but just kept repeating it is normal wear and tear. Use this place at your own risk and if they ruin something you will not get resolution or compensation.
