Mind you, I was there for a cleaning and annual X-rays... and was up to date on my care except one implant I'm finishing with another oral surgeon. She had no interest in me, only her list. I did not feel welcome or comfortable with the care I received. Went in as a new patient having moved recently into the area. The dentists and oral surgeon were brisk and seemed impatient; they explained things very quickly and never gave me a chance to ask questions before leaving me with the bill. I went in two times about a specific oral concern and left confused both times, with no clear answer or care, just another follow up. I love this dental office! It lives true to its name Gentle Dental. I have been afraid to go to the dentist for many years but they have renewed my faith in dentists. They are gentle. The whole staff is wonderful!!! I feel like I'm going to see family when I go to the dentist. I am even having an implant and I'm not afraid. Another reason I stopped going to the dentist about 10 years ago was that they always tried to upsell me everything. Then, the next appointment I had, he got mad at me again for spitting on the bib because I was about to throw up. He told me that I wasn't supposed to spit on the bib. Where to start... so I have dental insurance and this location was list for my EPO. I had a cleaning, root irrigation, and X-ray. My portion was about $200 out of pocket (not great but what ever). The issue started after my second appointment when their office was calling me (I don't have a job I can pick up the phone. I work on live power). I answered the phone she asked me if I remembered when I got my root deep cleanings done from the previous dentist... I don't remember but the previous dentist was doctor DDS Cilderman. She (so tempted to use her name) "tried" to call. Which is a LIE. Then said insurance won't pay without the info (which they shouldn't) and sent me a bill. So I went there to discuss. She ran to the back because it was her "lunch break". Leaving me in the office to steam for 20 minuets and write a review. Either they mis-coded the work or they installed a crown instead of a filling. I tried to call and when i finally talked to someone to dispute the charge they said they would call me back. They NEVER DID BUT CONTINUE TO SEND ME THE SAME BILL! I called again and left my number, but they wont call me back. I'd you have Denti-Cal, I would not recommend coming here. They will charge for services outside of what's covered under insurance and will not help you whatsoever if you cannot afford it. I scheduled an appointment for a emergency tooth extraction because I had severe pain in (what I suspected) my wisdom tooth. Prior to my appointment, the pain was unbearable so I took antibiotics beforehand and after 3 days my toothache went away. Upon my appointment the dentist told me that I never had an infection and that there was only swelling. The dentist said the wisdom teeth extraction would cost an additional 400$ per tooth because I would need a bone graft however the front desk lady said 350$. They would absolutely NOT do the procedure if I didn't pay for the bone graft. I declined the extraction and scheduled an appointment later in that week for a tooth cleaning. I arrived for the tooth cleaning and the same dentist who helped me told me that I would need a mould and some medicine for my gums because if the dentist performed the cleaning there would be too much blood to find any cavities and that would cost an additional 1000$ (or something around that price). I suspect that dentist to be inexperienced. I haven't experienced anything like that for a simple tooth cleaning. read more

We had an awful experience here. My daughter had braces done at a previous dentist out of state. We were told by that dentist she was ready to get them removed. The dentist at "Gentle Dental" refused to give us an opinion on whether they were ready to be removed or not. He even said " she could take them off or she could keep them on for another 3'-5 months. He asked me several times what the other dentist said. When I told him I wanted his opinion he got rude, evasive and aggressive. He was clearly trying to get more money out of us. He even snapped at my 17 year old daughter for trying to get a straight answer out do him. It scared her. I would be very suspicious of this dentist office. read more

Update: I saw another dentist 4 days after my visit to here. He identified the problem and was able to treat to my complete satisfaction. Shame on Gentle Dental for their incompetence. Corporate dentistry at its worst. Maybe OK for routine services like cleaning or fillings but if you have anything remotely complicated don't waste your time here. I came in with pain, bad enough that I can't sleep. X-rays done. Dentist says she's sees a problem area around one tooth, can't tell if it's inflammation or infection. Tells me I need to see their endodontist, who will be back in their location is about a month! I asked for antibiotics in case what she is seeing is actually an infection. Nope. Not until I see the endodontist. Ok, I ask for something for pain. Her reply? "You said you're not having pain." WTF? I wrote in the initial paperwork and told her verbally I was in pain. Why would I even be there otherwise? So I filled out a boatload of paperwork, was pretty much forced to join their membership plan (or pay an astronomical price) waiting 1/2 hour past my appointment time, and walked out with no help at all. Beyond frustrating, and horrible, uncaring dentist. Im left starting from scratch to find help. Thanks for nothing, Gentle Dental. Run from this place. read more

On 2/2 I came in at 12:45pm 15 min early for my 1pm Appointment for an exam and a cleaning. 1:45 rolls around and I haven't even been given paper work to fill out for a new patient. I walk up to the blonde girl at the front and she asks me if the other girl checked me in....lol no I came to sit at dental office for fun! They not only crossed off my name as if I got called back already, but they called back 2 people who came in after me. I finally get taken back and have to fill out my paper work while I'm getting my X-rays done. What a joke. So not only do I have to waste my time coming back to get a cleaning you couldn't manage to do the first time, I also have to spend some time telling the public how shitty your customer service is. After my exam is over the same girl who couldn't do her simple minded job of checking me in also told me she would call me FIRST THING Monday morning to go over the work I need done and what my insurance will cover. Nicole calls me today only to complain about getting my review via email. Telling me she went out of her way to offer me bleaching trays that I DONT WANT. What I wanted was my cleaning and my wasted time back. Don't tell me you went OUT OF YOUR WAY for me. I went here for a consultation I had an extraction of a sideways tooth I had in the back of my front top teeth, long story short the dentist that talked to me said my case was "special and critical" she also mentioned that my insurance was not going to cover and I would have to pay out of pocket $900 plus the $200 I had already paid for a CT scan which I was ok with, I had the Ct scan taken on 5/6/2020 and the technician told me it would take them 2-3 business days to give my prints to the gentle dental office so I said ok I called on a Friday asking if they had received the scans and the person who answered said no that I would take up to 3 weeks for me to get them so I told her that's strange because the tech told me different so I called the tech and she said we already mailed your CT pictures to the dentist on 5/7/2020 right the next day, but gentle dental office said they had not received them so I called them again and spoke with a different person and she said ohh we just got them today but they had them for like two days already after that the dentist told me that it would take approximate a month for me to see the oral surgeon also that I had to drive to orange because there was only one they had. Fast forward I said noooo thank you I thought It was a scammed since they told me my insurance was not going to cover anything I was able to have this procedure done within two weeks by an awesome surgeon in la Habra and I am 98% recovered now and guess what my insurance did covered the full price and I did not paid anything out of my pocket for the surgery, basically the $900 that they were trying to charge me they were going to pocket it ohhh I almost forgot they told me I had to be under general anesthesia that it was the only way, the surgeon who performed my surgery used local and it was painless and totally fine as well!! read more

I had a great experience at Gentle Dental in Placentia. Dr. Simonian was very nice. I am used to Dentists being so condescending and intrusive. Dr. Simonian was very caring and made me feel so much at ease. His wonderful staff Nicole and Henny are fantastic as well. Henny was great welcoming in and Nicole was a great listener and they both made feel like family. I would suggest to anyone that has fear of going to a dentist to please visit Gental Dental in Placentia as they are a wonderful office!!!!!!! On a scale of 1-10 I would give this office an 11! Was long overdue for a routine dental checkup. Seamlessly able to make appointment. My wife and I had the afternoon off so they took us both a bit earlier and got us squared away. Staff is great, looked up what was covered, provided us an accurate estimate and had us going in no time. From the front reception to the back office: evaluation, exam and treatment; truly seamless and wonderful. Dr. S is warm, friendly and an experienced dentist. He thoughtfully explained the X-rays, suggested treatment and preventative care. Things were explained in a simple to understand way but with the detail to know what's necessary. The process of numbing has to be among the best I've ever experienced. He has masterful technique and I felt literally nothing for the numbing and the filling itself. Don't let the name fool you. Not so gentle on the manners. The first thing that came out of my dentist's mouth was "what happened?" "You haven't been here every three months like we asked you to." Then she gave a big sigh when she had to explain to me again why she needed me to spend another $100 for an irrigation, like I was too stupid to understand her the first time. And she was flatly annoyed that I could not open my mouth as big and wide as she would have liked, as my jaws hurt. So with annoyance, she shoved a biter in my mouth and decided she didn't need it when tears were streaming out of my eyes. And by the way, NEVER did she explain what she was doing before she was doing it. She injected me with absolutely no warning. No apologies, no good job, nothing. Another dentist, an older gentleman, worked on my terrified 5-year-old son. He dealt with him by actual yelling and threatening him that he would have me leave the room if he didn't stop crying. She just should've been honest and told me she didn't want to do the work. When we got to the front desk to register the person there was too busy with her side conversation to acknowledge our arrival. Was very rude and unwilling to help. My daughter has wires and was told I have to go to orthodontics and have wires removed come back have cleaning done, then go back to orthodontics and have them placed again. After some back and forth, manager aproached us but was no help at all. Also very rude and unprofessional. Since it was my first time I decided to take my business elsewhere. I ended up going to Brea Family Dentistry where they treated us with the most respect and professionalism. I highly recomend you try them out.
