I'd be careful if you want to work with this company. They tell you they will bring you on for an "assessment day" at minimum pay and when the project is done they will let you go. Seems like they bring people on to pay minimal during "assessment" time then they let you go with no communication. But want to act like it's hard for them to keep people. We were looking for a shed/office/in-law suite for our backyard. I talked to Ryan on the phone and immediately had a great gut feeling about him. I emailed him over what I was thinking and bing-bang-boom we had a plan and a start date. Ryan and Thomas arrived on time and got straight to work. They were receptive to ideas and were just pleasant and amiable people to be around. My wife thought so too. Sometimes she'd watch them work for hours. She was concerned that they were working too hard in the hot sun so she told them they could take their shirts off to cool down, but Ryan and Thomas are professionals and declined. As hot and sultry as it was, they knocked the shed out in a weekend! Looked beautiful! But after living with the shed for a day or two, my wife thought it would look even better with a porch so I called Ryan. He agreed and bing-bang-boom we had another plan and a start date. They came and knocked it out again! Although my wife was just as concerned about them overheating and did not take her eyes off of them the entire time. Even asked if they wanted to take an outdoor shower to refresh, but the professionals declined. "At least go get them some cold drinks," she told me. I drove to Santa Clarita from Ojai to get the obscure flavor of gatorade (Tunisian Boysenberry) she wanted. When I returned I could see she had made them take a break because they were laying around looking very relaxed in the air conditioning inside the house. We had spoke for months about additional soundproofing specs to make sure I could use it as a music studio, and Ryan was open to all my suggestions, learning about soundproofing along the way. In the end, I have an awesome office/music studio. The build was more involved than their normal builds with two layers of drywall, cement siding, Rockwool insulation, and green glue and sealant all over the place. I'll be having them back to add a deck and second sliding glass door for that extra soundproof experience. Heck, I'd hire Ryan to build everything around my house. Great Service and work, Ryan delivered ahead of schedule, everything worked out perfectly.

Ryan is a likable guy, however, some of his work was not good. 1) He charged $80 to install and trim out windows and air conditioners You can see that he did a decent job with the window, but did nothing with AC...(see pictures) 2) The door that he installed doesn't close properly and the threshold does not sit flush with the floor. He left me with instructions on how I could fix it (even though I paid him to install the door correctly. (see pictures- the top of the door meets sooner than the bottom) 3) He did not order enough wood trim for the inside, so I had to pick up (and pay for) the extra material. 4) As you can see, the pavers used to level were not even aligned. (see pictures) 5) For the roof, instead of using the correct material for the ridgeline, he simply folded pieces of roofing tile to lay across the 45degree top. Those tiles are not designed to be bent, and will fail soon. I will now have to hire a roofer to replace those tiles with the proper material. 6) Lastly, he finished at night, therefore there was no clean up. The yard was left with so much sawdust and pieces of discarded wood. As I said, Ryan is a nice guy, but the work he left me with is not what I expected, and is why I paid his asking price (including a $50/trip 'out of range' driving fee) read more

If I could give six stars, I would. Ryan and his team built the ultimate studio shed I was dreaming of. Not only was it expertly crafted but he continuously offered great insight and advice on many of the finer details I hadn't thought of myself throughout the process. He genuinely cared that I loved the finished product and put the kind of dedication into the quality of the studio as if it was being constructed for himself. In just five days, he and one assistant built it from the ground up, completely custom with puck lighting, hardwood floors, a heating/cooling unit(which he advised on), full electrical and high speed internet connection. Whenever I had a question he was quick to answer and offer in depth information to make sure I knew exactly what was being done and why. Due to the studio being built on the upper tier of our back yard, getting power and internet service was going to be a challenge but as a licensed electrician, Ryan knew multiple solutions and was able to offer the best possible solution that fit our needs. Special shoutout to Joaquin who ran the electrical and internet cable along almost our entire back yard wall, super neatly and secured within metal piping to protect it from the elements. Ryan's wife, Valerie whom I corresponded with throughout the process for contracts, billing and general questions was also super professional and a pleasure to work with. There are a lot of larger studio shed companies that have popped up in the last couple years as more people have begun working from home, offering similar products but for a much higher price and more hassle. Working with Ryan and Valerie couldn't have been easier and they represent exactly why you should look into hiring small businesses for projects like this. We contacted Ryan in June of this year to see if he could build a custom shed for us sometime in July. At the time of our initial contact, our family was still living in Northern California and the shed was for a house in SoCal. We informed Ryan that in order to build the new shed, an existing structure needed to be removed and he recommend a friend of his -George- who did a fantastic job! When the time came to build the new shed, Ryan and his crew arrived on time, worked hard and completed the project on time. They also tactfully navigated around a curious six year old girl, a nosey neighbor and my father-in-law who decided he wanted to barbecue a chicken right in the middle of their confined work area. I love my workshop, and Ryan did a great job building it. I gave him the specs that would best fit my space and my needs and he constructed it accordingly. He had a reasonable pricing for installing windows of my own choosing; that allowed me to pick larger than normal windows, purchase them myself off Craigslist, then he installed them very nicely. He built the structure in October of 2018, and I wanted to wait with my review until I could go through the winter rains--turns out there was no leakage whatsoever, including around the windows. He installs a thick floor, and there has been no give in it whatsoever. Yes, over the months there has been a small amount of shift around the door and I had to minor adjustments to the lock to get it to continue to line up correctly, but that's about it for any sort of "fix." Ryan built it in two days on a weekend with another laborer, and cleaned up well after himself. I later painted everything to match my home, added electrical, build shelving and two storage lofts (although I could have contracted with him to do this if desired). It looks sharp, has shown to be constructed of higher quality materials but at a similar price range to the commercial sheds at Lowes, and it fetches many compliments. I am so grateful that I found Ryan from Genuine Storage Sheds! My now lovely little garden shed is no longer known as the garden shed from hell. I hired not 1 but 2 licensed contractors that I found on Craigslist. 1st guy a licensed framing contractor from Ventura was living proof that you don't need to know jack about building to get a license. 2nd guy - licensed contractor from the Valley but with 40 years experience - how could I go wrong? We basically had to tear down the mess from guy number 1 - he was a competent builder but never have I ever met a more unpleasant individual. The kind of person that just sucks the life right out of you. When he said that his original time frame to complete the job would need to be doubled I decided that life was too short and I said thanks but no thanks. Months behind schedule and thousands of dollars over budget I decide to wrap the monstrosity in tarps and forget about it for a while. It was two months later before I could look at the shed and not hear the 2nd guy complaining and whining so maybe it was time to try again? 3rd time was the charm. I found Ryan's posting on CL and emailed him to ask if he would consider taking a look at my mess to see if he could finish it and he said he would. If I had only found Ryan's posting 1st - I know my experience would have been completely different and WAY more affordable. First of all - he is nice. You don't realize just how important a quality that is in a person until you spend some time with the alternative, so save yourself the trouble and take my word for it - nice matters ALOT. He is patient. I know what I want and like and I know what I don't want and like. Trust me - if I don't like it today - I am not going to like it tomorrow and he seemed to get that. He is honest and trustworthy. HUGELY important for a single woman that lives alone and I have never felt anything but comfortable him. And he is professional - I saved this for last because as the owner of a shed building company he should know how to build a shed. And unlike the licensed framing contractor that does not know how to frame Ryan knows how to build a shed. He took my shed from hell and turned it into a little gem that I look forward to seeing every morning.
