He's not very friendly but he did the inspection within 2 hours and I was sent an email that I had passed inspection. It was less than $80. Scam warning. Do not go here for a state inspection. I wish I had looked at the Yelp/Google reviews before going here because it cost me. They failed my car which is in very good condition for superfluous reasons. I took my car somewhere else and it quickly passed inspection. Avoid going to this place for repairs or any kind of inspection services. Go to a reputable place, and if you need brake work go to Menike. I am writing to share my experience with others so they can avoid the hassle that I had to endure. I took my car to BP since it was close to the house and a friend recommended it. The mechanic (Peter) nor his assistant test drove the car or put in any effort to make a diagnostics prior to determining nothing was wrong (in less than 10 minutes), but they wanted $75 for a diagnostic. Flash forward one day: They were wrong about nothing wrong with the brake since the noise is still present. I called BP the same evening (4/2 and 4/3) after the incident expressing my discontent, but they were highly unprofessional and the service there is very shoddy. read more

I have been using Peter as my mechanic for about 9 years now and I am very happy with his work. Recently, I had my entire AC system redone and the final cost exactly matched his initial quote. In all of the work that Peter has done for me he has been good about not tacking on many little extra charges. If he quotes a number he is pretty good about keeping to it. Peter is also good about balancing the cost of a repair vs the benefits. When I asked Peter to replace my AC system, we had a lengthy conversation about making such an expensive repair on an old vehicle. Another time, I asked him to fix a squeaking belt and instead of charging me for the repair he convinced me that if I could live with the noise I may be able to get some more miles out the part before any harm is done. A tip when talking with Peter is to not be timid. He appears to be a very busy guy. If you have a question, ask! He seems to gladly answer all of my questions and explain to me, in detail, how the parts work and what he is doing. BUT if you do not ask him questions, he will not explain things. read more

Horrible place for State Inspection!!!!!!! Bloody Hell!!! Peter - the Korean guy working there is a cheater, telling full of bullshit about your car. The first day he told me that it will cost me only about $50 to change some small rubber bushings. When it came to the second day, he changed his mind and wanted to change the whole suspension system on my car, giving a quote about $1000!!! Fine, I quit and went to the dealer for the safety inspection on the suspension system. Ironically, the suspension system is in good condition and successfully passed the safety inspection in the dealer later. George Amoco will charge you a lot for the "unnecessary" maintenance work to your car, or you will fail the inspection. Shame on you, Peter! Be careful, or you will be easily fooled and lose a lot of money! read more

I recently went for a MD state inspection with him and they unnecessarily failed my car for a superfluous reason. I asked the mechanic a quote for fixing the failure and he quoted an exorbitant $500. I took the car on the same day to college park Exxon and my car passed the test. This place is an absolute rip-off! read more

Peter, the head mechanic, can do anything! I had a very positive experience. He was very accurate in his estimate of the cost and time required to repair my car. The cost of the work was very reasonable. I would have been charged twice the amount for half the quality had I used one of the larger garages. I had my transmission replaced, and my car runs like new again. This guy really knows what he is doing. I won't take my car anywhere else now. read more

Peter is amazing, he's a really thorough mechanic and very ethical. My car died while I was driving it, I thought it was the alternator. Peter spent a long time testing my car - when it was not the alternator, he continued to figure out what was wrong. The ABS system was malfunctioning. A new module would have cost me $1000 (although Peter also checked junk shops for prices) but Peter wasn't 100% sure it was the module and didnt want me to spend that much money. Instead he took apart and cleaned the ABS system and all the connections, test drove it again and determined there were no more errors, and only charged me $150 even though he spent a day diagnosing the problems. I am shocked by the negative reviews on here, I have seen Peter for two other small things (replacing a serpentine belt and a suspected leaking tire) and he's always been thorough and fair with prices. I think he's excellent and I will always go to him for my car service. read more

We have been taking our cars to Peter for years with all sorts of problems. He has always been honest He takes the time to explain the problems if there is more than one he tells you what's most important to have done now and when to take care of the others even if you don't bring your car by to him and his colleagues. I don't feel that we have ever been overcharged and the work is done right the first time. Want and honest mechanic take your car or cars here. If you need and oil change and want a new filter ask for it. This was on me for I didn't ask. Communication is crucial. read more

I had three (3) inspections at this location and failed each one. I thought I would only fail the initial, so it was quite surprising when I failed all. I knew I would have failed the first one, as the car had some front end damage that need to be fixed. I already had a mechanic that was going to handle the body work, so I decided to have his shop resolve the additional items on the inspection list. I went back a month later, after all the matters from the initial inspection were addressed and low and behold, I fail again. I was provided a quote to make the repairs. I opted out as I obtained a second quote and it was less expensive. The items identified in the second failed inspection were fixed a week later. I returned to have, what I was thinking, would be the last and final inspection; but not so. He advised that he found additional items that need to be addressed. He claimed that he did not notice these items during the prior two inspections. I thought that was extremely odd. I of course, provided a quote to fix the issues. I was not going to let him do any work on my vehicle, so I left. While driving, I began to ponder whether he was being honest; so I decided to go to another MD State Inspection station- that had availability. I had a nagging feeling that something was not right, as I knew all items were addressed. I ended up at a station about five miles away. And guess what? I passed. I believe that they fail inspections so that they can perform "the repairs" needed to pass. I do not believe that they are honest, nor do I believe that they have the customers best interest at hand.
