The venue is cute, but when I sit at a bar, I need a little more attention than just asking me if I want another drink when my current drink is only half done. I don't like that! Especially when the bartenders are super busy cleaning random areas of the bar in between. Like, focus folks. Unfortunately, the positive thing wasn't my personal experience, but people playing pool and eating seemed really content, so that was nice to see and might work for others as well. Great Authentic English pub. I know a good pub because I grew up in England. I purposely looked for this place and I was not disappointed! Great vibe, décor, beer, food and lovely people. The specialty fish and chips I strongly recommend although it is a pretty decent serving. The staff members are very nice and the food comes out quickly. It's a pub & sports bar, with British & US style pub food. It has a big parking lot but no outdoor seating. Plenty of seating and TVs inside as well as darts & pool. They show the EPL, English Premier league on TV, it's a Man U bar according to the waitress. I had the fish & chips, their signature dish. It's on the menu as "market price", which normally suggests it's fresh, although it's probably frozen, You get 2 big pieces of cod & thick cut fries for $17.99. The fries were good and I liked the batter that they prepared the fish in but I was disappointed with the flavor (v.little) & texture of the fish (dry). I think they use Alaska cod, which can be good, but this was a bit overdone. I would try something else next time. Service was good. Beer selection was good, not great. Worst bar service I have ever encountered in my 64 years. The Champions League final was on and the place was packed. They are considered one of the best places to watch soccer in all of Phoenix, I have heard. Only 1 bartender on, which was a joke. We waited at the bar a half hour for our firsts beer. Bartender was completely ignoring sections of the bar and she was serving others who just walked up to the bar. We tried to get a second beer, waited well over a half hour (patiently I might add) and finally just decided to leave but had to wait for the tab and return of our credit card, which she slammed down in front of us and had the gall to accuse us of having an "attitude". I have a lot of bartending and restaurant experience so I understand getting slammed but she was completely unable to keep on top of her surroundings, like who had been waiting forever and who just arrived. Meanwhile there was someone who appeared to be a manager lolling around picking up cups when he should have stepped in to take orders. They probably lost a lot of revenue from people like us and the guys next to us at the bar who just gave up. However it was her rudeness that makes us never want to go back. read more

The time of day was not too crowded, so there was lot's of distancing, along with outside tables. Also hand sanitizer within reach. Dining here today for the first time, and having fish and chips for the first time. I have my friend with me from Trowbridge, England. So of course we're having fish and chips! This is as good as or better than any fish I have ever had. Tender and flaky. The batter is very good though I tried to limit myself. I definitely ate all the fish meat. We first saw this place on Bar Rescue so when we decided on a road trip to Arizona from San Francisco we made it a point to stop in for a bite and a couple of beers We were pleasantly surprised to find a clean , well kept , nicely decorated pub. Lots of people enjoying outside seating and inside as well The owner was engaged and all the bartenders and servers were great . Went there for a world cup soccer game, usa v Wales place was packed! Get there early! Food, decent, nice quality Beer was great. A friend has a celebration here this past weekend, the waitress was awesome, friendly, pro active. However, the food. We had a sausage roll which was excellent, we also ordered fish and chips. What a huge let down, we were the only one who thought this too. The fish had no seasoning to it and it was over cooked. I've been a resident of PHX for 24 yrs and ate here in the early 2000's and wasn't impressed with the food 22 yrs later the same issue. i was not a fan. me and my friend shared the sausage roll, the potato skins, and the chili. the sausage roll tasted fine but i did find myself getting continually sicker as i ate it, which is pretty alarming form someone who never gets sick from food. the potato skins were definitely the worst part of the meal though, could not eat more then one, tasted like burnt fry oil and nothing more. chili was also pretty subpar. i can see why someone who's more of a drinker could like this place but don't go for the food. read more

The Yorkshire pudding was about 5" high! The bad news: only served on Sundays. But good news: only $15.95 Ask for Leah: GREAT service and wonderfully friendly! I have been in George and Dragon pretty often these past 2+ months, usually in the evening and late night. The food is average, hit or miss is a good way to describe quality of menu items. I personally have declined the menu because of the uncertainty of what I'm going to get - a very good plate or a horrible mess. Not going to throw my money away and leave hungry, which has happened sad to say. The drinks are reasonable, nothing special to tell the truth. The bartenders have been great, less can be said for the majority of the servers here. Doesn't matter what time of the day it is, servers here are more standoffish than is necessary. Oh well, doesn't really bother me as I just observe and tip accordingly. So, all in all, average place with nothing that stands out that would draw me here - just the fact I live 3 minutes away, so there it is, the convenience of location. Nice. After coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, and nearly every Sunday night for the last 3 years, we won't be back. This place has taken a serious turn for the worst, and it's honestly sad. Tonight, my family of 4 went in for dinner. We were surprised to see a friend there, and invited her to our table. She only ordered water, and just visited with us while we ate. 2 more people we know showed up, so we invited them over, too. One ate, one had only water. It was clear that we were not one party, we arrived separately, at totally different times, and as mentioned, 2 didn't even order. I got food for my family of 4. One person ordered food on his own bill. We were all charged a 20% tip for a party of 6 or more. We were told it's just their policy. So, my family of 4 and a single guy who chose to not sit at the bar, but rather, sit with people he knew, all got charged 20% on top of our order. That's a greedy, disgusting practice. We always tip more than 10%, but to unilaterally decide you're entitled to any amount of my money above what I'm obligated to pay based on the menu price is audacious. It was not discussed in advance, and if 2 people didn't order at all, our party was only 5. Considering we normally brought large groups in every Sunday, and always tipped extremely well when we were billed fairly, choosing to lose customers like us instead of lose an entitled, embarrassing policy makes clear that we're no longer welcome and we'll give our money to a business who values paying, good customers. read more
