GBB Cafe is a cute coffee spot tucked inside Okdongsik. The vibes are immaculate: from moody, red highlights around the room, to a rustic, woody furnitures, to jazzy tuned playing in the background, GBB Cafe is truly a prime spot to just relax and enjoy good coffee. Just something to note, laptops are not allowed. Chloe and her husband, who also run GBB bar, are also the ones who decided to open this cafe. Occupying the same space as GBB bar, this cafe specializes in pour over coffees, and has a small yet unique set of pastries. Chloe herself makes the pastries, while her husband makes the cream tops for the drinks. A dream team, if you will. I got the mugwort madeleine and tropical weather blend, which were phenomenal and complimented each other well. We all know onyx coffee lab, so I was happy to be able to drink their blends without having to fly to Japan. What really surprised me was how good the madeleines were! For my second round (because I'm a caffeine addict) I got another madeleine, which came in a cute bear shape this time, and the vienna coffee. The cream was interesting, not too sweet, almost a little buttery in taste, but it paired well with the coffee. All in all, GBB Cafe is a must try! If you know anyone who regularly hangs out in Ktown, they've likely already been to George Bang Bang. I learned that lesson after telling multiple people on separate occasions "I know a place" and then taking them to this place they've all been to several times. As the only Korean owned speakeasy that is actually hidden behind Okdongsik, which is a Korean pork soup spot, George Bang Bang gets its reps among those in the know. But for anyone who isn't in the know, the space still impresses. It's dimly lit, with red accented walls an drinks that are served in charming glass teacups and chalices. They use really unique ingredients in their cocktails, like cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes, and black tea infused gin. Me and other friends have all found their cocktails much too sweet, and you'd be hard pressed to find any cocktail on their menu that isn't super sugary. They do have an extensive list of scotch, whiskey, rum, tequila, and fin on offer though, so you need not down a super sweet drink here if you don't want to. Reservations are recommended but I've gotten lucky and have gotten in as a walk in on a number of occasions, including on weekends. read more

We had a disappointing experience. The atmosphere was interesting, but the service and seating process need improvement. We waited a long time, almost 2 hours. Sign up at 10:15pm and the hostess said wait was 30 min and last call was at 12 midnight. After 1 hour we walked back and she was rude and hesitant to seat us after all. Around 12 midnight she came out and before she was going to give us a table she mentioned that we can only order one drink and it's going to be at the bar counter, not table . Service was slow, though I recognize the bar was busy. We were then moved shortly after being seated, while waiting for our drinks. While we were still ordering, she moved us from our table, saying she had a "better" table for us. However, we clearly overheard that our seat was needed for one of the bartender's friends. It felt disrespectful and made us feel like paying customers were less important than personal connections. The whole situation was handled very unprofessionally. A speakeasy atmosphere can be fun, but good service and basic courtesy should still come first. Better communication and organization would make the experience much more enjoyable. read more

Compared to its competitors, the entrance for the bar is actually pretty discreet. Behind the bustle of a noodle shop &kitchen , you enter a dimly lit bar that takes you back to another era. They truly kept the aesthetic of prohibition with a lot of detail- from the cocktail glasses, to the furniture and the wallpaper. Hard to describe, you just have to see it to really enjoy it! As others have said, a reservation is ideal. However, late on a holiday weekend night the 2 of us were lucky to snag a seat at the bar right away. I actually recommend sitting at the bar because it's quite fascinating to see the bartenders at work! One of my favorite speakeasy cocktail bars in the city! It's hidden behind Okdongsik, which is extra cool when the restaurant is already closed so it feels very secretive and hidden. We attempted to come here twice, but so glad we finally made it after waiting 30 minutes in line. Unfortunately, the waiting area is an incredibly tight space that should only fit about 4 people, but we had twice that number. If you can make reservations, definitely do so or come during a week night when it's less busy. We were seated at the bar, which had a nice view of all the liquor. The menu also has a nice, old notebook feel on linen paper. We ended up trying multiple cocktails: Don "Michael" Corleone ($22), Little Miss Sunshine ($22), Seed ($22), Harry & Sally ($23), Notting Hill ($22), and Hocus Pocus ($21). It's not often when almost everything on the menu appealed to me. All of the drinks were delicious with no disappointment at all. I really enjoyed the seed, which came in a clear, glass tea cup to fit the vibe. Hocus pocus and notting hill were also ones I'd definitely get again. My boyfriend and I walked in at around 7 PM on a Friday night and got seats. We tried the 500 days of summer, Seed, Emma's wife, Hocus pocus, Cafe de gbb, and Don Michael Corleone. The interior is nice and dimly lit, with tall ceilings and plenty of space. It has a vintage feel with its red cloth backgrounds and carpeted floors. The servers were very friendly and probably the best water-fillers I've ever encountered. One nit is that they were too quick to take away finished drinks. This made it seem pushy, as every time this happened they ask the individual if they would like to order another drink. I wasn't a fan of the cocktails, but perhaps we didn't order the right ones. The 500 days of summer was overly sweet and I personally didn't like the seemlingly random ingredients (smells like thyme, tastes like fruity syrup mixed with truffle). The interior is very speakeasy vibes if that makes sense. It's kind of classy and they play classical music inside. Very dark and well-themed but a little crowded inside. This was my third time visiting and I got the Harry & Sally, which I thought was good but could have been stronger.
