My experience with this oral surgeon was a good one. From the beginning to the day of surgery i never had a huge issue. The receptionists can be nicer but I didn't have the horrible issues others have had. Making an appointment is hard because it's 1 month waiting time and then waiting to get a date for surgery is another 2 weeks depending how busy they are. When I went to do the first visit it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. He just asked general question and was in and out as soon as he got the info. The assistant was a lady and she is sweet. The x rays are the ones where they take a panoramic picture of so it's not the annoying little papers. I was told they would ask my insurance and I left. I got an approval 4 weeks later and called to make an appointment. They had one for the following week but I had just began a job and needed a month and the receptionist understood. She was kind about my situation and gave me the appointment I thought was best. The day before the surgery they called me to remind me which was nice. The day of surgery dr chew was extremely nice! He was cheerful and told me not to be scared! He reassured me that it would be fine and once it was over with I never had to do it again. Now I have not gone back for the check up because I just got then done so I'll be back to update for the check up. All in all the worst part was the shots to numb me. Dr chew works fast, was done with 4 wisdom teeth in about 10 minutes. Seems like he knows what he is doing and is confident. I was terrified of getting them done but this staff was quick and I didn't have time to even think about it twice! My experience was good. Ok so update for the check up appointment.... It went awesome. I was in and out in 7 minutes. He was nice about everything. Just checked inside my mouth for infection or anything else. Said I was good to go and that was the end of it. Easy and friendly. I stand by a 4 star rating in MY experience. Would go to his office again. read more

SERIOUSLY A TERRIBLE DOCTOR. Had some teeth extractions, only to have to go back in the office a week later because he left some part of the tooth lodged in the gums. A few more weeks later, I feel another piece of teeth (this time protruding a little and poking my lips) left in that needs to be extracted too, except the doctor is on a month long vacation. 3 TRIPS for work that can be done in 1 by an actually competent and caring doctor. Wow, I was worried for months about having to get my wisdom teeth extracted. I remembered I had a tooth removed from George Chew 10 years ago and I hardly remember the experience due to no pain. Still, I was worried about the wisdom teeth. I had the teeth removed a week ago from Dr. Chew and wow, I only had to take 1 ibuprofen for the pain, and that was only because I was getting nervous when the numbness was wearing off. He is a really friendly guy and I'd recommend him to anyone having to get their wisdom teeth out. Best experience you can have getting your teeth pulled =p. read more

I just had my lower right wisdom tooth removed because it was growing in at a 90 degree angle. The service was great. I walked in,, filled some paperwork. Not 5 minutes after I submitted the paperwork in, they led me to the room and applied anesthesia. Dr. Chew came in and removed the tooth in well under 5 minutes. I was surprised it was so fast. They gave me instructions, gauze, prescriptions, and sent me home. There was practically no swelling, my friends didnt even know i had my wisdom tooth removed. Long Wait. I took my mom in 15 minutes before the appointment time and still had to wait another hour before I could talk to him. Apparently, he scheduled too may patients to see him at the same time (when I signed in, I saw there were 2 persons ahead of my mom with the same appoinment time). The doctor was rude and unprofessional. I ended up leaving the office with my mom without any answer from him. I never seen a doctor argue or question the patient's questions like he did. I don't care how good he is. If he can not control his temper, one of these days he might hurt someone. read more

Dr. Chew is exceptionally good at removing wisdom teeth. He removed my 4 wisdom teeth less than 10 minutes. I remembered the exact time because I was nervous and kept looking at my watch. He smiled and told me to count the time as he removed my teeth. It was unbelievably fast and painless throughout the whole procedure. But since it's wisdom teeth removal there will be pain afterward so have your medicine ready and buy a irrigating syringe at Walmart to clean the socket. It took me a year for my sockets to fill in :) read more

Dr. Chew is the worst! I was referred by another dentist who was extremely nice so I thought why not, and the reviews were overall ok but I should have listened to the negative ones. I had an abcess in a back tooth that according to my other dentist could not be saved and had to be pulled. The pain is so bad that because of the swelling it is pinching the facial nerve sending pain through the left side of my face. So it wasnt something that could wait. They were able to squeeze me so I had to call off work find a babysitter to take my kids to school and made all the arrangements for the procedure. I got into his office. The staff seemed fine. I have always had a hard time with going to dentists so I was already very nervous. So I got into the room. And from the second he walked In the room he was very rude. But I brushed it off because I was in pain and needed it fixed. When he was going over my history I told him I had a reaction one time to novacaine he didn't even look at the the tooth hr sat there and reprimanded me and told me your not a dr. U can't diagnose yourself stop that! I was stunned because I was simply telling him what another dentist had told me. So he got up and walked out and told the assistant to take x-rays. After waiting for him to do another procedure he came back and said I could see the endodontist and save the tooth or pull it. I said I don't know what do u recommend the other dentist told me it couldn't be saved and I wasn't sure if my insurance covered the endodontist. Because I can't afford a several thousand dollar procedure. He yelled at me and told me if u have a heart attack u go to the hospital. You either want to do it or u dont. In a perfect world ya u can do whatever u want but this is totally not the same thing! Not all of us have money to do the things we want. I was so confused because I had no idea why he was so angry and arguing with me. I started crying because I'm sitting there in pain and being yelled at which only seemed to make him get more angry and rude and so I said well I think I'll probably have to pull it. And after all that he then told me he wouldn't even do it until I went and got an allergy test from my dr. ! My face is in severe pain and that's his answer. Do u know how long that would even take and not to mention unnecessary because I have had other teeth pulled with no problem. So he sent me away no medicine and told me figure it out. the assistant came back in and told me I could make another appt after an allergy test and I told her I would never ever come back to him. He is rude, insensitive, and very unprofessional! Now it's the weekend I'm still stuck in pain missed a day of work for nothing and back at square one trying to find another oral surgeon. Was referred here a couple of days ago for my wisdom tooth extraction. I waited about 30 minutes with an appointment. Once i got in, i had to wait an additional 40 minutes in the chair before any assistants came. The extractions were really quick. It was overall a decent experience. I could feel pain during the extractions but it wasn't overwhelming. The thing that ruined my day though was when the dental assistant shoved the gauze pad too deep into my throat and made me vomit. I also felt that I was overcharged for the whole procedure. Would I come back here again, if I had a choice? Probably not. There is nothing special about this place other than long wait times and pricey costs for wisdom teeth removal. And on top of that, the dental assistants aren't properly trained. read more

This the worst Oral surgeon I had ever meet. I went today to his office for my daughter wisdom tooth removal. My daughter is autistic and she is 19 yrs old. I got a referral thru Dental Funzone in West Covina. The first visit is already awkward means Dr. Chew is very inpatient with my daughter during X-ray. Another of his staff with a short hair kind of tomboyish is unfriendly, and very rude too. After few minute tried to calm my daughter they finally get the x-ray dome. But today is the worst. When Dr.Chew tried to numb my daughter gum, she got nervous and whine little bit and I am tried to calm her down. Within few second Dr. Chew walked away out from the room without saying any words to me., which I thought he is not going to continue with the procedure. Two of his staff 's follow him and I was so mad being treated like that. One of his staff refer me to other Oral Surgeon in Loma Linda area. I told her about Dr. Chew attitude and she felt so bad and apologized to me. No one should experience this unacceptable and low people class manner especially for that tittle as an Oral surgeon. I know Medical is covering this procedure, the total procedure is $999. I could be wrong, I felt a discrimination against my daughter condition for being special need. I also filled complaint to Dental Board of California. I will post my review thru Facebook as well. We should be treated with respect period. So if you get a refer to this place and you have a special need children better asked for someone else. read more

Dr. Chew is okay and outgoing but his staff is ruthless! The harsh office polices are all based from the bad experiences of past clients. They treat you like a thief not a patient. They act is if you are going to screw them over so they're trying to beat you to the punch. Spoke with several staff members and not one of them asked any of us patients in the waiting room how we were doing that day. read more

My teeth removal appointment was this morning. The overall experience was fantastic. Not that this is my favorite thing to do, but the fact that Dr. Chew got 2 wisdom teeth out of me in less than 8 minutes was just amazing. With the top one growing straight down and bottom one growing all slanted and hitting the tooth in front, he was able to attack them without any hesitation. Top one was an easy yank. Bottom one, he had to drill the living crap out of it, then break it and ply them out piece by piece. With local anesthesia applied. The pain started to hit 4 hours after. Luckily he prescribed me some strong med. I'm now high and pain free. read more

The worst dentist I ever met. He is rude and very impatient (this is not good for his patients). I remembered when I walked out the examined room to look for a chair to sit down while waiting for him to discuss with him about my mom's condition (I had been waiting for almost an hour and needed a chair to sit down). He was out side the hall way and saw me. I believe he thought I was rushing him. A few minutes later he showed up and threw a tantrum at me. He didn't even give me a chance to explain what my mom needed to be done. He even asked me that if I didn't get a good service from him and promptly asked us to leave. I wouldn't recommend anyone to come to see him. He needs to change his attitude or he will hurt his patient when he is not in a good mood. Dr. Chew is an absolutely terrific dentist. He pulled one of my upper wisdom teeth. After I was numb, he pulled the tooth out in less than 5 minutes. He didn't hurt at all during the actual extraction. Very personable, too. I highly recommend him. read more

I'm really happy with my experience here from beginning to end. When I started a consultation Dr. Chew came off as really confident in his field of work and was open to questions. When the day finally came to remove 4 wisdom teeth with two of them impacted, I was really nervous, but he and an assistant were very calming. I went in to get my wisdom teeth out like most people who go there. Well the first time i went in, it was for the consultation. There was no concern there since I only had to talk to a few people. Well today I went in to get my bottom wisdom teeth pulled out. The front receptionist was nice. Then I waited for about five minutes and went in. The doctor kept asking me if I had any questions. I asked if i should be concerned and he kind of laughed at the question and replied back "well it is a surgery.." Then we did the procedure. The dr put the q tip thing into my mouth and that crap made my throat close up. Also the shots did hurt. I didn't expect that it would make my eyes kind of water. After he extracted the teeth, the ppl working there led me to this sitting room where I was to read the instructions. They also told me to keep swallowing my saliva. First off i couldnt swallow and second i HATE the taste of blood. I also I saw that there was only two packs of gauze so i asked if i could have another pack and the mexican dental assistant was like theres already 8 in there so you have enough -_- i just wanted another pack of gauze. Anyways I sat there for 2 minutes and I decided it was time to leave. So I left with my sister and after a minute of walking my sister was like your whole mouth is full of blood. To my shock, it was. SOOO gross. So we walked back and the dr was in the front waiting room taking a breather before his next patient. He was like what happened and I was like I'm blooding can I have some more gauze. Then he had to go to his patient and the male dental assistant and the insurance coordinator lady had to attend to me. The insurance coordinator was like what did you do?! Like it was my fault that im gushing blood from my mouth. Then she said were you spitting?! (cuz right before i left she said not to spit) and i told her i didn't. So they seemed pretty irritated that i was back. Also when the male dental assistant talks, you can't understand him. He mumbles through his sentences and I'm always like huh? Anyways, sure youre in and out, but they have pretty bad bed side manners. Definitely not too concerned if you have blood gushing out of your mouth and they'll first blame you then to think hey maybe he or she is just bleeding cuz they got a tooth extraction. Edit: Well, ive come back to give him one more star because my cheeks aren't swollen at all. My gums are but im sure thats normal and if i doesnt hurt anymore. I really thought id have chipmunk cheeks for the whole spring break because of how hard he was yanking at my right teeth. He looked like he was struggling a bit. I just got 2 of my wisdom teeth pull out at 1:30PM today! I was really scare for sooooooo LONG since i kno i have to extract my wisdom teeth back in June 2011. I am 26 and i have all 4 impacted, Dr. Chew is magically quick!!!! less than one minute each! and 2 of my impacted wisdom teeth is out! and he is so good that the way he administer the numb shot is like no pain! AND i m seriously a chicken when it comes to needles! my cheeks were only a bit swollen....and it is back to normal after 7 hours. and the tylenol 3 he prescribe me did not make me dizzy at all and it does help with the pain. And most important i do not feel anything during the procedure other than some pressure on me. Dr. Chew is really good at what he does. I read previous reviews about Dr. Chew and his staff, about how they were not very nice. I dont think that is true at all. Although Dr. Chew has a serious expression, he is actually very caring about my fear (I was shaking even after the extraction). His assistance were very friendly and teach me how to change gauze so i would put it at the right place! I seriously would recommend Dr. Chew to everyone! He is just that good!!!! read more

Can't recommend this guy enough. He's very pleasant. He makes it as painless as possible. He's efficient but thorough. He talks to you while he's tugging away at your teeth letting you know what he's doing and keeping you in the loop. The worst pain was the injection of lidocaine. I had to extract the last wisdom tooth that was left and boy why didn't I listent to Nancy T's review. The receptionist is very rude and does not know how to talk to customers. She made me feel like I was trying not to pay when in actuality my dental insurance covered everything. I had full knowledge of what my dental covered and I repeatedly kept telling her the details. And even though there was a mix up with my insurance she should have been questioning them as well, as all insurances are not the same. Finally I had to call my insurance several times to get it all cleared up and I had my insurance rep call her to explain to her how my dental insurance work before she listened. Thank god I did not go through with the extraction. I will NOT be going back to them for the procedure. Dr Chew is a very nice man but he needs to get rid of that receptionist. read more

Dr. Chew is definitely one of the Best! He's really cool & professional and his assistants are great also. He doesn't have the greatest office, but you not judge a book by it's cover. I have had 3 tooth extractions and with only a little initial pain, it's over before you know it. I was pleasantly surprised that the extraction was over, when I was expecting more pain to come.
