I said it all along. I knew the new owners would wait a couple months and then raise the prices. Every Sandwich has been raised by $1 for a half and $2 for a whole! Service is so much slower. It takes so much longer to get a sandwich made. I don't know if it's because they're learning the menu or if because they're too busy talking to each other? Been there a few times since the new owners have taken over and just about every single time they have run out of something. In the almost 50 years my family has been going to Mr Sub not once did they run out of things like onions, cheese or anything other than bread at the end of the day! When we went it wasnt that hot but it was very humid out and no breeze yet they had the AC off and both back and front doors open with no screen doors and there were flies flying around all over the place. I get you might be trying to save money on the electric bill. But when you're a food establishment you don't need the doors open so that flies can get in and you don't make it so uncomfortable inside that no one wants to eat there or even wait in line. We were shocked how we were the only two customers there right after school. Even though we were the only two customers, it took us 10 minutes to get two half sandwiches. I think going forward when we're back in Union it might be time to try another Sandwich spot in five points? The whole point of going to Mr Sub was a decent sub for a great price and super fast. That might not be the case anymore. read more

The new ownership really needs to take away the way Mr Sub was running before and stayed in business. They are being skimpy on the meat and does not resemble what we all knew as a Mr Sub sandwich. I wish they would've kept it going like the old owner. The Sub wasn't bad but wasn't worth it compared to before. To new ownership dont nickel and dime on the meat and you might be able to keep the clientele coming but as for me I'll check out other spots. read more

These subs blow my mind! There is a couple of vegetarian options and the menu. I'm not sure if you can order off the menu, but they request to order by the number on the menu. The gentleman was cool (I ordered by the number). You can put the works (lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar) which enhances the flavors. I switched out the tomatoes to roasted peppers, delish! The whole is huge! Easily two huge portions for two days minimum. They also have a tub of whole dill pickles that you can pick out and put in a bag (not free). Overall, great experience... This is hands-down my favorite sandwich shop in the area! Every sandwich that I've had has been excellent. I love how their sandwiches are filled with meat and are freshly made to order, and Mr. Sub's sandwiches are consistently that! With over 100 different sandwich combinations you can try something different each time and they all will be tasty. My favorites are #76, 74 and 68. When you go, be sure to order by number. Just got back to NJ and was hoping for a nice chicken cutlet sandwich and man was I disappointed. I should have ran when I saw him throw them in the microwave for as long as he did. I have never had such a bad chicken cutlet. I don't make reviews like this but I wouldn't feed this to my dog. It's a rubber puck coated in mush. They also only accept cash and don't have any signage saying so and of course they have a conveniently placed 2$ feet atm. We order often and my husband picks up every time because the owner is always rude. We like the place and subs are good even though they have changed with time. However the customer service from this guy is outrageous and he has no manners at all. The service from the girls is always good and kind but they look scared and upset and the only reason I can imagine is because of the Italian owner. He is racist by the way!! My husband pick up our order today and he was very anxious and feels terrible for the girl that was there today!! He heard everything he said to her! One of the best subs I've had in a long while. They have a large selection of hot and cold sandwiches and subs. Great spot.

The subs are OK but there's more to a restaurant than the food. I've only been twice but other comments I've read have been validated in just those two visits. The owner really does seem to treat his employees terribly. Adding to that, he doesn't wear gloves during food handling. It's actually quite disgusting to handle cash (they're cash only) then proceed to quickly rinse your hands with a dab of water, then start preparing sandwiches again.
