Home of the best Sloppy Joes!! From sandwiches to salad to iced tea and desserts I highly recommend this place. I had to take the time to leave a review this time because I felt it was very overdue. The gobbler sandwich is yummy, The Godfadda, The Gossip Girl, I also have had an egg salad with layer of tuna salad Sloppy Joe-that is amazing! The Cobb salad is also a fave. My friends rave about all the sandwiches they have tried. They are very friendly behind the counter and the order takers are fast and efficient. It gets crowded but moves fast. read more

Sandwiches are really fresh and tasty. The gobbler can be a little skimpy on turkey but still delicious. The sloppy Joe's are great and don't forget the chili basil bowtie salad. During my visit, I experience good customer service; an employee is kind and helpful with navigating food options. For the most part, I opt for Vegan options. Even so, being in the area, seeking a high protein meal, I stop in to the Millburn Deli. The establishment seems set for efficiency from the door, even with a quick seemingly (random assortment) ready-to-go refrigerator, for a quick passerby perhaps, like I become when the order I seek to buy is already in the fridge area (at the register). The establishment offers a variety of seating options. This is my first time eating a cold Sloppy Joe sandwich though not my first time eating a cold Roast Beef sandwich. The cole slaw is somewhat tasty, though the mayonnaise-y-ness is not preferable, to me, especially considering sweeter bits are present without the mayonnaise-y-ness. The cheese (Provolone-ish) adds a consistent pleasant flavor in the current mix of cold sloppiness. I prefer Roast Beef with lettuce, tomatoes, purplish-skin onions, Swiss Cheese, horse radish, pepper, oil, vinegar, and on firm wheat bread/a good firm exterior though softer chewy interior wheat-like roll. Gone downhill in quality and quantity. I ordered a cheese sandwich to go and when I returned home to my surprise, there was only two small pieces of mozzarella cheese on my sandwich along with a few sprigs of basil and very thin tomato. It was a caprese sandwich and the standard should be fully loaded with all items for that sandwich. Extremely disappointed I wasted my time and money. We had a large group in the area and just wanted something simple and easy. We had heard great things about the Millburn Deli, and thought we would give it a try. We ordered a variety of sandwiches to share, and unfortunately we were largely disappointed. There are a lot of very interesting items on the menu, and it seems like people really like the pressed sandwiches. Everything on a plain sub roll was pretty uninteresting, especially both vegetarian options (which ended up being mostly just bread.) We really liked the griller #8 which was thinly sliced chicken, mozzarella, tomato, basil, and pesto aioli on focaccia bread which made for a lovely sandwich, but it is significantly smaller than everything else on the menu, making it difficult to share. Was passing through the area and looking for lunch when I came across Millburn Deli. It seems like a pretty beloved institution, and the store had super extensive menus. They had a section of pre-made sandwiches featuring some of their crowd favorites including their Godfadda, Gossip Girl, and Urban Cowboy. I decided on a North Jersey specialty-- the Sloppy Joe ($12.95) with your choice of protein (I went with pastrami). Unlike the tomato-forward, ground beef sandwich that I associate with a sloppy joe, the North Jerseyan version is a lot similar to that of a Reuben sandwich. It comes with three slices of rye bread, coleslaw, Russian dressing, and Swiss cheese. I found the sandwich a little messy to eat, as the bread was too soft to contain all the fillings and I could literally feel my fingertips digging into the bread while holding up the sandwich. The sloppy joe was also strangely cut into three pieces, so the coleslaw and dressing was oozing out both ends of the middle piece. That being said, it was a very well-sauced and moist sandwich, which I always prefer over a dry one. I also picked up an iced tea ($2.95) which came highly recommended and a small tub of their pickles ($1.95). The iced tea was fine; I'm not sure why it was so overhyped as it tasted like a regular iced tea to me. Their pickles had a good crunch and I liked the thickness of the cut, but I did find it a tad salty. Overall, it was a decent spot for a quick lunch as I was in and out within 10 minutes on a weekday afternoon. I will say however, that they do not give out any napkins, which I will deduct a star for considering how messy their sandwiches are. Came here for lunch during a NJ trip and it was so tasty. Got the "The Hollywood" sandwich and it was so good and filling. The place is so cute and popular! A good amount of people were here when we went but the service was still great. Staff were nice and answered questions we had. The custom make-our-own chicken + pesto sandwich was good, but wife didn't like the mayo pesto so much. The Wild Bull beef sandwich was ok; the A1 would be better replaced with a garlic aioli, I think, or similar. Wings - orders by 6 or 12 wings at a time, but they will let you split the flavors. Bigger sized wing pieces, but dry underneath the sauce. Buffalo was vinegary and too salty for me, a spicy kick. The habanero-mango was sweet mango flavored and not too spicy, but not what I want in a wing. Bacon and chicken are perfect together! Only slight complaint is the bread was too soft. Just a bit more of a crunch would have been better. The service is also pretty good. Definitely worth the hype. My husband picked up sandwiches for us from Millburn on Thursday and everything was delicious. He commented that it was surprisingly busy when he went around 4pm on a week day. They have a very large menu so it was hard to make a decision, but I landed on the Griller #8, which is grilled chicken on focaccia with soft mozzarella, tomato, basil, arugula, and pesto aioli. It was packed with flavor and a large enough sandwich that I saved half for the next day. They also had spicy pickle chips that hit the spot. My brother who recently moved into the area had been talking about this deli for months and I finally got to try it after helping him move. I can see how they are doing well. First, we did not eat them while they were fresh, probably at least 3 hours after the sandwiches were made. I must say they use quality and fresh ingredients. Everything tasted so fresh. The chicken cutlet was so tendered and not heavy. The roasted red pepper was so sweet. The wild bull was perfecto with the A-1 sauce. It's such a clever combination of ingredients to make great sandwiches. The sandwiches are in the pricier side but it's worth a few more bucks for the flavor and the quality ingredients. I ordered a corn beef sloppy Joe today. I know this place gets good reviews, but I am not impressed. I've had them from other places. There is suppose to be meat in each layer. Instead I got one layer of meat (maybe 3oz)and then a ton of coleslaw and Russian dressing between the 2nd and 3rd pieces of bread, in addition to the layer that was with the meat. When I tried the corn beef on its own, it was bland. I mean no seasoning. The texture was mushy as well. I stopped in on a Sunday around 1:00 PM, excited to order it again, but the experience was kind of frustrating. First off, the ordering system was unclear. Some people took numbers, others just walked right up to the counter. No one was directing the flow, so it felt pretty disorganized. To my disappointment, they were already out of pulled pork and steak by early afternoon--which was surprising for a busy weekend day. I decided to roll with it and subbed in turkey for the Cubano. Then came the kicker--we waited about half an hour, even though everyone else around us was also asking for substitutions and getting their food much faster. No real explanation, no apology. This place is iconic. If you can find parking hustle in and try their signature sandwiches. At Thanksgiving time I get the Gobbler, which comes with all the traditional turkey and trimmings in a sandwich plus you get a special surprise! Gonna keep it a surprise but you'll see when you order it! Their signature Sloppy Joe is my all-time favorite. I've had it with pastrami and corned beef and both are dynamite. This was my first time at Millburn Deli and I'm already planning my next trip I went on a Saturday morning and while it was a a bit busy (not really chaotic) and I was completely overwhelmed with all of the options (I made the decision to not look at the online menu ahead of time haha) the staff was super accommodating and nice. My boyfriend ordered the hot pastrami and corned beef sloppy Joe and I got the Urban Cowboy. My sandwich was perfect. Honestly no notes. The bread was pressed really well (not too hard / not too soft) and the texture of the sweet slaw, pickles and brown sugar pastrami were perfect. I was a bit worried that the brown sugar pastrami would be too sweet but the acidity of the dill and the slaw cut through it and balanced it well! My boyfriend's sloppy Joe (which he got Monster style) was fully supported on the rye bread. He gave it a 7.3/10 and wished the meat stayed warm a bit longer. We heard that the iced tea is a must and it did not disappoint! We got a half gallon to enjoy at home. We also ordered a Godfadda sandwich to go so brb on that review. While it's so nice for Millburn Deli to be expanding their empire (5 locations now) unfortunately it's not so great for their customers! This place is incredible and quickly becoming my go-to spot for a sandwich. It is a bit pricey but the portions are generous and the quality makes it worth it. It's also a bit hectic to order, especially when they're busy but they do a pretty good job of getting you taken care of quickly. They have dine in options outside or inside a couple of doors down.
