Tried for the first time and the turkey, roast beef and Swiss sub looked great but had one major issue - end pieces of the roast beef were not discarded and was tough and chewy. I ended up removing most/all the roast beef to salvage the sub. The remaining turkey and Swiss sub was pretty good. With so many good choices in northern nj. L&J's delivered -- HUGE sub for even the half version; supple, white bread, shredded lettuce, and really thick turkey and cheese. Oil and vinegar tastes great as well... By far best Tuna sub I ever had! I go and get the tuna sub at least once a month and it's always been nothing short of stellar. I am very picky about where I get tuna from and prior to here I only got it from Dara's in Elizabeth. The tuna is piled on with the works and provolone cheese. If you're hungry this is the place to go because the half of tuna sub is stacked! Also, the bread is really good. It almost has a sweetness to it and is very airy and light but in a good way. Usually I like the harder Italian sub rolls but there bread adds to the overall flavor and texture. I never had anything else but my mother-in-law loves their Italian sub. If you're in the mood for Tuna give it a shot! read more

Horrible service and unfriendly staff! My daughter will only eat a ham sandwich with pickles on it. The grumpy old lady says "we don't have pickles" even though it's on the counter. Picked up 2 subs in the morning and there was a older woman there that had made them, we put them in the fridge to eat later on that day and when we opened them they were made completely wrong and not the great subs we got from there in the past. I called and they were just closing and I was told to call the owner on Monday. I did call and he asked what he could do to fix it and I said make the 2 sandwiches that we ordered and that's all we ever wanted. He made the 2 sandwiches and we picked them up, and for make up subs they were extremely skimpy. We thought we finally had a great sub shop. Haven't been back since. There is one girl that works there that always makes a great sub but we would have check to see if she was there and would make the subs and that's a little nuts. read more

Taking off one star because I just recently went and the older lady forgot to ring up our chips that were sitting on the counter and because we didn't have any cash and it would've been too much of a hassle (on her end) to run the credit card for a $1 bag of chips she had me put them back. She's rude and doesn't really seem to grasp the customer service side of things. Any other employee would've either told us to take them and pay next time or run the credit card again. This place is great. I've been here three times and each time the subs are fantastic. The subs are enormous. The cold cuts were delicious. The bread is fresh. The guy who made the subs each time (John?) is friendly and pleasant to talk to. There is a little table by the window but I took my sub back to work each time. nice people but here is my order: spiced, (not spicy) ham, you know the old fashioned kind tomatoes a little onions mayo on a half sub roll here is what i got: capicola, lettuce, tomato, a little onion and NO mayo the girl asked me if i wanted oil and vinegar, i said no and i was THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE PLACE so it wasnt like she could be confused. i also had a deli pickle which was good but overwrapped..just needed a ziplock bag and i got a half pound of potato salad which had a very weird tanginess that was very off putting i wont go back, how can you screw up such a simple order? maybe they should try opening a flower shop read more

Have tried several sub shops in Union/Kenilworth area. This place is really good. Clean, friendly service and nice variety of subs. Aside from liking their subs in general there are 2 things that standout by comparison: 1. Their shredded lettuce is crisp! It seems that they don't shred it a day in advance LOL. 2.
