George Webb's is a nostalgic Milwaukee area burger chain famous for predicting the local MLB team, the Brewers, will win 12 straight games. The few times the team has, they gave away tens of thousands of free burgers to the community to celebrate. Truth be told, I love their greasy spoon burgers. I get a double cheese with fried onions, and it tastes the same as it did when I was a kid. The atmosphere is like you're in an episode of "Alice," and the breakfasts are old school. good. Everything is fried in butter and is delicious and artery clogging. This specific Oconomowoc location struggles to be consistently staffed, but when it's open, the staff is friendly and helpful. I have been eating at different George Webb's since about 1980 . I have always found the food to be pretty good and I have always loved their chili . I have been to the Oconomowoc one a few times and it just gets worse every time . The chili was horrible ,I could not eat it!! I also had the double cheese burger and fries and that was pretty good . I was recently passing through Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and found myself in need of some food. I utilized the "NEAR ME" feature on my YELP app to assist me in finding a local eatery that would satisfy my hankering for a traditional Wisconsin breakfast. Out of all the places "NEAR ME" at the time, George Webb was the only breakfast joint that featured, lot parking. For the record, I can, and have parallel parked many a time, but it was early in the morning and I had a rear cargo area filled with luggage. It doesn't even really matter... I mean it shouldn't, not to you anyway... The point is, my choice to avoid any restaurant requiring me to leave my pristine vehicle sitting on the street like a hooker, would end up being my undoing. Well, "undoing" may be a little over the top. Let's me just say this, I picked George Webb solely because it had a parking lot. In the spirit of honesty, I do have to point out that although this "restaurant" did come equip with a temporary vehicle storage area, it wasn't one that they should be proud of. It appeared as if the lot hadn't been refinished since The Dawn Of The Age Of Aquarius, and that was a long time ago. In regards to the parking lot, I will award a total of no stars. This parking lot is a disgrace to all other parking lots and should be ashamed of itself. This parking lot clearly has no friends. The inside of this filthy establishment looks like it hasn't been updated or cleaned since the doors first opened. Yes, I still decided to eat here. It was hot, and I was hungry. My menu was just a tad stickier than my table top, but that didn't bother the giant beetle that was using it for a futon. It was obvious to me, by the manner in which he sauntered away, that he wasn't charmed by our table talk. I only discovered our waitress' name when she finally brought me the bill. I mean why introduce yourself or wear a name tag? I'm going to spare Little Miss Moonshine the embarrassment of using her name in this post, God forbid any of her family members or friends discover she working in this place. In my fantasy, at least twice per week, she pens a letter to her folks, telling them that she found a job reading stories to sick children, taking the elderly shopping or euthanizing puppies. Each one, a more respectable endeavor. In regards to our waitress, I assign 1 star. I'm not a monster. Finally, the food. As I typed "Finally, the food," I thought to myself, the reader may have interpreted that sentence to mean, "FINALLY! THE FOOD!" like I'm trying to get the point across that it took along time to have our food made and brought to our table. That's exactly what I'm saying. Looking back, I wish it would have NEVER come. These cheeseburgers were worse than the abhorrent, pork parts cheeseburgers my sister-law tricked our family into eating, a few weeks prior. She didn't really look at packaging because she's a vegetarian and obviously wasn't too concerned with our happiness, but I digress. There is no possible way that George Webb's is known for its hamburgers or cheeseburgers. Unless of course they're known for having shitty ones, that I would believe. They did have decent fries though. I don't even give their food a star. It doesn't even deserve to be on a star scale. I'll reluctantly give it a "Mister Yuck" sticker, and they're extremely lucky they're getting that. We love GW and have been going here for more than 20 years. It's never been the fanciest or the cleanest or have the best service, but it has really tanked recently. Dirty tables sit unbussed, "clean" tables not much better. Unpleasant staff. Food carelessly prepared. It might be time to call it a day. read more

The person cooking the food was not wearing a mask, did not have her hair pulled back, and was not wearing gloves when touching the food. Very unprofessional. They were talking to other co workers in front of us when we went in to pick up our food. The food was just thrown into the to go boxes. These were clearly young kids with no manager in sight. 5/1/20 when I first came. This poor place has had one staff member from 10:00 pm till whenever the morning staff shows up. Throughout the entire pandemic the night manager has been nothing less than heroic. He has consistently provided quality food and service, considering he was a one man army. The other people complaining...sorry about your experience Karens maybe don't show up drunk at 2am expectations being a five star restaurant. I don't visit here often, but was in the area yesterday morning and needed a quick breakfast. Ordered two over-easy eggs, crisp bacon, hashbrowns and no toast, along with a regular coffee. The waiter was polite, friendly and attentive. He took my order and before I could drink a half cup of coffee, my food was served! Everything was cooked to order and the coffee really hit the spot. Not to mention, he filled my cup three extra times without me asking. I was very satisfied with everything. The restaurant was clean and the bill was reasonable at about $11. I left a $3 tip. They were moderately busy with probably around 7 or 8 customers when I arrived and so I thought that was really quick service considering. I was there this morning with my two kids. Terrible experience even for a George Webb's. First of all, they couldn't give up two boxes of crayons. Each box has 4 crayons. The waiter said they were running low. Not a big deal but that was the start. Then he came out with the wrong order. They put chocolate chips in the pancakes. He basically tried to push my son into eating them but he doesn't like chocolate. No apology. Also, the initial order took around 20 minutes to get. I asked for a refill of my coffee. He said he will get to it when he can. 10 minutes later I went to the counter to get it. Again, no apology from him. Therefore, no tip. I usually tip well. You get what you earn. I'm not going to give someone money just because. When I was by my car he yell out from outside thanks for the tip man. I said no problem. Say you're sorry and fill up a cup of coffee. He then said he was by himself. I replied that's not my problem. He then said I know. I would have said a lot more if my kids weren't there. I called when I got home to speak with the manager. They put me on hold for five minutes and hung up. Never again will I go there. Food isn't that good anyway. Waiters shouldn't expect free money by going through the motions. read more
