Roots Coffeebar was the perfect caffeine stop when exploring Downtown Oconomowoc. The inside is a lot larger than the building lets on when plenty of seating. Their menu offers a variety of coffee, tea, baked goods, sandwiches, and more! I ordered a Lavender Honey Iced Coffee and was able ti add my own cream from their self-serve station. My friend got the Honey Vanilla Latte as well. Both drinks were tasty and gave us the perfect pick me up.

I'm from out of town, but this is a regular stop for me when I visit my family. It is a cozy little coffee shop that offers a larger area for gatherings. There's additional ships connected on the back - a ceramics shop and dog shop. Great spot to get some caffeine and snacks and stay warm from the cold. I haven't ever had their snacks, but the London Fog and Dirty Chai are excellent.

Wonderful! I went for coffee/breakfast with a friend and it was such a cute shop. A lot busier than I was expecting but my order came out fast. SUPER cute spot for a first date or to catch up with friends. Highly recommend their ham and cheese quiche and a vanilla iced latte.

The cutest place inside!! Lots of seating. The caramel macchiato was yummy. I'll definitely be back!

Nice environment setting. Easily to order. Length of waiting is not bad. They have different options for breakfast and lunch.

Cute little coffee shop on the main road! Had a lot of options for drinks and the food menu looked good as well, although I didn't try any of that! I had the caramel apple latte and my husband got the cold brew. Looks like a great place with plenty of tables to hang out with friends or do some work

I've been to The Roots twice now, and each time has been pretty average. The coffee shop is well decorated and there is a decent amount of seating. However, the prices are pretty high compared to other coffee shops. My small iced chai latte with almond milk ran me $6.30 (including tax). That's 10-15% more expensive than many of the coffee shops in Waukesha. If it was mind-blowingly delicious, I'd be okay spending that money. But it's not, so only come here if you like the vibe and the location and you have a punch card. (Though you'll have to purchase SIXTEEN DRINKS in order to get your free one. Many of the other coffee shops with loyalty cards only require twelve drinks before you get your free one.) The Roots has a nice variety of food and treats to choose from. If you're a picky eater or you have kids, you won't really have an issue finding something to eat. Parking can be difficult to find. There is some both in front of and behind the building. But since it's all street/public parking, you might be stuck looking for a spot for a while. Honestly, I don't think I'll return here. Unless a friend of mine specifically requests we go to this coffee shop, I'm going to stick to the coffee shops in Waukesha (like Mama D's or Cafe De Arts).

Lots of room inside: seating in the front on the lower level, more seating up a short set of stairs (where they have board games like chess and checkers), and another room in the back that can be reserved for groups (not sure if there's a cost). We arrived a little after noon. There were a few other people there. We waited a little while to place our order. The cashier/barista apologized several times as they were preparing other people's orders. Once it was our turn, we got a warm greeting and plenty of help with our menu questions. Lots of nice choices for beverages and sandwiches. We ended up with a couple of chai drinks (one hot, one cold), a grilled cheese sandwich, and a chicken salad croissant. Then we waited... and waited... and waited some more. It took quite a while to get the drinks and the croissant sandwich. Then it took another long while to get the grilled cheese. At one point I asked if they were still working on it (it had been so long that I thought they might have forgotten). They apologized again and explained that the griddle they were using (a panini press) just takes forever. We weren't in a hurry, but I noticed some other customers who were visibly upset. The Chai Latte was excellent, as was the Harvest Chai (an ice cream drink). The Chicken Salad Croissant was also very good -- fresh, with a good amount of chicken and not too much mayonnaise. Nice, crispy textures. The Grilled Cheese was good, but the bread wasn't very "grilled" (maybe a limitation of the panini press?). We didn't get dessert, but they offered a few small samples of the Chocolate Shoppe ice cream -- very tasty. Lots to like about this place, but the wait times were way too long. :(

It's an interesting place, but hard to put into a specific category. It offers hot beverages, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, oatmeal, etc. -- and then they also have ice cream. When I walked in, I was a bit unsure about the layout and seating. In the first area, there are a couple of tables. There are lots of things going on in this space, and it feels a bit cramped and chaotic. The order counter is here, along with a small kitchen. Beyond this space, you'll find a much larger seating area with tables for different-sized groups. I'm not a design expert, but this area also felt a bit chaotic. I didn't sense any overarching design. For me, it didn't have the relaxing, chill vibe I look for in a coffee shop or café. Got a super friendly greeting and service. Ordered a couple of tea lattes -- one Chai, and the other a London Fog (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam). Both were made in mugs, served at the right temperature, with great flavor. Got a couple of the scones, and those were just "okay." They were dry (which a scone should be), but they leaned more muffin-like than shortbread-like. Overall, the visit was a mixed bag -- not bad, but not a place I'm likely to return to.

I had some time to kill while waiting to pick up someone, I was in town visiting from CA and…read morethought, I really need caffeine. Yelped a few places that were close to where I was and this one popped up. Super cute little place, I could have purchased way too much. They have lots of fresh coffee, beans and espresso beans and honey and all sorts of goodies, so I check out the menu and immediately focus in on the Montecristo. I haven't had one in quite a while so I thought you know what, why not, I'll take the Montecristo and I'll also try a piece of coffee cake sitting in the display case amongst lots of goodies and a large dirty chai tea. Dirty Chai came with 4 shots of espresso, which is exactly what I needed. It came relatively fast along with a warm coffee cake. Chai tea wasn't your classic chai with cardamom and all the other spices and herbs in it but it was pretty good. It was strong and hot, it was cold out and it hit the spot. Coffee cake was absolutely amazing, super moist and buttery cinnamon crumb was nice and thick, this was on point and I loved it. Sandwich took a bit of time, actually thought they forgot about it. But it finally made its way to my table. OK . . . so I have never seen a Monte Cristo sandwich prepared like this one, I'm use to it having Mayo, Dijon Mustard, red current or raspberry jam and dusted with powdered sugar. As you can see from the photo, it wasn't "dolled up" nor pretty and it was served with a side of maple syrup. I have to admit, I was taken aback, but put a lil maple syrup on top and sliced into it, huh ok well that's not bad, a lil different, but very tasty. Instead of Mayo/Mustard I think it was Cream Cheese? Bread was a lightly dipped French Toast this is where the Maple Syrup came into play. I had a few bites, but took it to go. Came back at it the next day after heating it up in the microwave, again just a drizzle of maple syrup and finally decided, wow this is actually pretty darn good. My ONLY suggestion, the inside needed to be hotter so the cheese would be melted and gooey however, I understand that probably would be harder to achieve with the cream cheese. Overall pleasantly surprised, nice job.
