After trying to call in a pickup order first thing in the morning and being told I couldn't on that particular day if I didn't pay with cash cause they didn't have anyone on the clock that was able to use the credit card machine, I found a morning that worked for them to be able to run my card and placed an order to go. My order consisted of a bacon, egg, and cheese burrito with fruit for the side. I also got a piece of key lime cake after seeing it in their cake display case. The burrito had an odd taste to it. I don't know what it was (maybe the cheese?), but I wasn't a fan. The tortilla was also a little hard like it had been in a package left open for a while. The fruit was great. Large pieces and all of it was ripe. The key lime cake was disappointing. The only key lime flavor it had was a thin layer of key lime pie filling between cake layers, otherwise it was plain cake and too much frosting. I ended up eating a few bites and throwing out the rest since it wasn't worth the calories or carbs. read more

Huge mistake. This restaurant is miss on multiple levels. We got a coupon in the mail for this restaurant. Even with that discount - it was a complete waste of $30. Though banners touting "Under New Management" stick up through the unkempt landscaping, the run down exterior sums it up well. This place may have been good maybe 30+ years ago - as exemplified by most of its patrons. The interior is the most overdone Greek decor with a confusing mishmash of a claw machine, televisions, a diner bar, and a sports bar next door. The menu is just as terrible. The restaurant can't seem to figure out what it wants to sell. BBQ brisket, sandwiches, breakfast, pot roast, burgers, salads, gyros. We had the gyro sandwich and the pork souvlaki. Gyro was completely bland. The yogurt sauce, maybe an attempt at tazatziki sauce, was water thin. The pork souvlaki was rubber dry; skewers were drenched in a cornstarch thickened clear glaze on a single lettuce leaf. It was repulsive. Bless the waitress having to work here. Service was ok. Water was never refilled, but she seemed to try. The cashier did offer us a free dessert, but we wanted to just leave at that point. Hope this restaurant finds its way. read more

It's time to give Pallas an update - we've been back several more times, mostly for breakfast. I give a big two thumbs up to their smoked turkey which is delicious without being dry and is available with eggs for a healthy, protein packed breakfast plate. The fruit side is huge and freshly sliced, and toast is made from homemade bread. Service is always lightning fast and pleasant and the prices are very reasonable. I've learned that I don't care for their omelette style (frittata) because IMO it ends up mealy. But there's plenty of other tasty things to explore. Pallas isn't our "go to" breakfast spot but they're definitely in the "regular rotation". Bonus - they are being serious about COVID with 1/2 tables/booths blocked and masks required. read more

Maybe I've been spoiled and shouldn't have expected much from a greek family diner.........still, too many misses on the dishes we were served. We ordered 4 meals: rotisserie chicken, corned beef hash, beef brisket breakfast, and gyro skillet. The gyro dish looked ok though it was pretty basic and the gyro meat slices didn't seem to be seared. The 3 other dishes fell short in a variety of ways. The chicken appeared to be baked vs. rotisserie w/o any of the characteristic crisp skin one should see. Also, we ordered white meat (for extra $) but were delivered a leg & thigh quarter. The beef brisket in the brisket breakfast, which should have been the star of this dish, was tender but lacked flavor, badly needing salt or any sauce/seasoning. The pancake that came with the meal was fluffy. Lastly, I've had a variety of hash browns; this version was more like fried coarsely cut mashed potatoes. The corned beef hash was obviously from a can but sometimes that variety is the tastiest (and can't be messed up). One should eat out cuz restaurants should be able to cook better than the diners they serve. But in this case, even simplistic dishes fell far short. read more

In the last six months, I have eaten at Pallas Restaurant thirty-seven (37) times, per my YELP check-in stats. That pretty much sums up how I feel about this place. On my first visit, I was impressed with the quality of the set-up silverware and clothe napkins. (Don't chide me, haters: If you think about it, most family restaurants use cheap, flimsy silverware and definitely don't have clothe napkins! Juss; sayin'.) Secondly, my first meal here, breakfast, was the "Country Frittata." It kinda blew me away. Not only was it a large portion of food, but it was perhaps one of the best omelets I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Fluffy. Airy. The ham was soft, tender chunks of savory goodness. The cheddar cheese was the real deal; sharp and rich. I forget all the ingredients, but the mushrooms were were obviously fresh cut and sauteed. Instead of potatoes with breakfast, I opted for fruit (which I do most times), for a $1.25 up charge. Believe me when I say that there is no other place I eat at where I substitute potatoes/hash browns for fruit that has the quality and quantity of fruit served; i.e., a thick slice of watermelon, a thick slice of cantaloupe, a thick slice of honeydew, a chunk of pineapple and a portion of red grapes on the vine. Since my first meal, I have experimented with most items on the breakfast menu and they are all of the quality I experienced the first time here. The owner, whose name is George and whom I've met, seems to be at the restaurant ALL the time. He is responsible for making all the homemade soups, for baking all the bakery items which they sell out of a display case near the cash registers, for the dinner bread served table-side in small loafs on a cutting board and for the house made Greek yogurt which we love. I get yogurt on the side with many of my breakfasts and also buy quarts to go to take home. (Sorry Fage and Chobani). Of late, the restaurant has purchased and installed a smoker in their kitchen. I have tried the pulled pork, brisket, sausage and turkey breast. It is outstanding. I especially love the turkey; it is always tender and moist here, unlike most other restaurants. The BBQ choices are offered with eggs for breakfast, or on sandwiches or platters for lunch and dinner. As I type this, I noticed today that there is a special $ half off sale on (eat in, only; no take out) barbeque orders. We have found servers here are upbeat, happy and efficient. The restaurant is huge, BTW. It actually has a stand-alone sports bar separate from the family style restaurant, too. Seating at the restaurant is mostly leather booths with a four-top table section. The parking lot is large and we've never had a problem parking, even if we've had to wait to be seated during busy days; i.e., Mother's Day. Stopped in for a little brunch while out running errands. Had some time in between appointments so thought I'd take myself out for some brunch. It wasn't very busy when I arrived around 10am. I was sat at a both where they are socially distancing every other both. Lisa was my server. She was pleasant but busy seeing she was the only waitress working. I decided to get a Bloody Mary with a chaser and an omelette which they call a frittata on the menu. I ordered the Pallas Frittata which had sausage, bacon, ham, mushroom, onion, green pepper and cheese. I choose pepper Jack! It was huge and I couldn't finish it. Normally it would come with toast and hash browns but I do not like those items so I just got the frittata. Overall, it was good. I should have asked if they had salsa to put on top cause every thing is better with salsa!!! It's not a bad spot to stop in for breakfast. They offer a wide variety of breakfast options. Not sure where to start the waitresses were so rue and gave such horrible service. Some of the food tasted way, way off and we all had a hard time figuring out just what some plates of food were it just was not right. Staff acted like they cold have cared less and would ghost customers and several waitresses just stood around to busy chatting about problems but doing nothing to fix it. People in our group did not eat their food leaving full plates and the waitress acted as if the could not have cared less about he customers or working there. I can honestly say it was the worst food and dining experience ever experienced in my 50+ years of dining out i the area. I wish we had checked other online reviews before going there as I would have read others treated rude there, our experience seems to be somewhat normal there. As a business owner I realize how this place has to be loosing a lot of money having such incompetent staff. But incompetent staff is just a reflection of incompetent managers and owners. I doubt they will last more than a year or two before someone gets sick of the food or people stop going there because the rude staff. It only benefits the community when places like this close their doors. Its a shame places like this exist, the community deserves better but there are great options just down he street. Was there yesterday. Truly awful and tasteless. My husband and I ordered the Gyro Plate...which is stated on their menu as: Gyros Plates Served with small Greek salad and choice of potato. Our server asked what potato I wanted, I said, what do you have? She proceeded to tell me and I settled for fries. I then asked for extra tzatziki sauce. My husband ordered the same thing. We also ordered soda. Our gyro came, with the fries and extra sauce, but no salad, as mentioned on the menu. Our server never came back to our table with salads or even to refill (or ask) if we wanted anything else, or how our food was. When the time came to get our check, I said to our server, 'we never received our salads'. She looked confused, then said she didn't think we wanted them. I said 'they were supposed to come with the meal'. Again, a shrug and nothing. My husband did leave her a tip of 4 or 5 dollars in cash on the table. Then when I went to pay, I told the hostess, we did not receive our salads and to take that amount off our bill. Another confused look. She did find someone who came over and she told me that my server must have been confused and thought that we ordered 'just a Gyro'. When I said to her, I do not think she was confused, she asked us what potato we wanted, she obviously does not know the menu. Then, that lady said salad does not come with that dish. So my husband opened their menu and showed her what their menu says. Ending to this story, they reduced my bill by 4 dollars. No flavor of the Gyro meat, very watery and tasteless tzatziki sauce, but the fries were OK. Big banners outside the restaurant stating New Management. We gave Pallas a try since it is under new management. Unfortunately nothing much has changed. There was only one server & this is obviously not the job for her. I ordered the fish fry. She didn't ask me if I wanted soup or salad so I asked her about it. She said she didn't think it came with it so I showed her the menu which stated that all specials came with soup or salad except wraps. She said, oh well, I'll give it to you (as if she was doing me a favor). The food took a long time to come. We flagged her down & asked if we could have bread. She didn't remember until she brought our entrees. We asked for ketchup & hot sauce. She didn't remember that either so we had to ask the bus boy. I had ordered onion straws & got a hard, undercooked baked potato. When I told her that I didn't order a baked potato, she just kind of looked at me & finally said that she'd get me the onion straws. They finally came when we were done eating. We asked for boxes & saw her carrying the boxes, but instead of handing them to us, she laid them on the table next to us & took the order of the couple sitting behind us. They still add a surcharge if you use a credit card so we opted to pay in cash. The cashier said it wasn't a big deal. Well, since our bill was around $48 for 3 meals (no drinks), we weren't going to pay anything extra. As slow as the server was, she wasn't slow going to our empty table to collect her $10 tip. I told my husband that was too much since the service was so poor. On the way out, my husband said, well we gave it another try, but we will not be back. I decided to go back and try a different breakfast item to see if I could up the stars today. The place just slaps you across the face that's it Greek because it's the heaviest Greek decor I have ever seen. I ordered the meat lovers skillet with sourdough toast which had sausage, ham, bacon, baby red potatoes, green peppers, tomatoes and onions topped with cheddar cheese. The skillet looked good but it tasted very average and nothing more. The sausage chunks were big while the Ham and bacon were more like bits so all I could taste was potatoes and sausage. The veggies were cooked to mush with no crunch left in them. The potatoes were bugging me because they had a soft boiled texture so I took a closer look and sure enough there was no grill/pan golden color on any side or piece of the potatoes, see my pictures. I'm thinking the whole thing was just plated and heated up so the cheese melted but it was never cooked on a grill/pan all together. Now I'm going to get to the better aspect of my breakfast because they are doing some things well. The strawberry jam and the sourdough toast was just the opposite of the skillet. The sourdough toast was not from a bag from a store which had a perfect dense/toasted texture which was noticed. All though I don't eat strawberry jam on toast because I like the runny yoke on my toast but I did taste it and it was pretty good so I asked my server who makes the bread and jam because it was good and she says they make it. Now I'm perplexed because there is no pride in the skillet but the toast and jam by comparison stood out on the up side. Overall after two breakfast visits I found my breakfast plates to be just average and they will not get a spot in my breakfast tour, I'm not saying that they are bad but I have places that I just like better that are tastier. read more

Don't go in the morning. Point blank. I've had mostly solid experiences until now. Today I ordered milk and it had chunks in it. Asked for cappuccino instead the waitress scoffed. Came back with the cappuccino and placed the spoon directly on the table, which she also did yesterday. One time is a mistake, twice is a pattern. I didn't make a scene. Had the salad with pork kabobs and enjoyed it but the pork seemed a bit hard, maybe overcooked? Not sure. Flavor was still good and the amount received is generous. Others ordered the pork chops, which were much moister and tender, and the Greek salad, fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, feta cheese and olives. Terrible Experience. I ordered a beef brisket meal and the beef arrived shredded. I asked if I could have it sliced instead. At first the waitress simply said no, but when I explained that I had had it served sliced 3 times in the last 6 week she went to the kitchen. She returned to tell me that the cook said that they had the brisket which could be cut (instead of shaved) but he didn't want to slice it. INCREDIBLE. With restaurants needing all the business thay they can get I am amazed that this is the way that the Pallas Restaurant in West Allis, WI would treat their customers. I've eaten here many years back and didn't mind it, nothing too special though. Decided to review it now that I just ordered DoorDash from here with my family. Prices are extremely reasonable. The pork chops are the dish to get. 2 massive chops with perfect Greek seasoning. Juicy. Tender. So good! I had the meatloaf. Was pretty good and of good portion. Gravy seemed canned. Green beans also seemed canned. Fries were over cooked and not that good. The side salad was very weak. Not too fresh. The blue cheese dressing had turned and was not edible. My wife didn't like the steak salad. Steak was over cooked. It's one of those restaurants that suffers from having way too large of a menu. They'd be better off focusing on a smaller menu of dishes they get right than offering a few good options with a lot of mediocre dishes. Overall I have to go with 2 stars because of the steak salad, fries, canned sides/gravy and salad. If you just get the pork chops, I'd say it's a 4 star affair. read more

My friend and I went to Pallas Wednesday night for dinner and it was horrible. The service was bad and the food was horrible. We both ordered the rotisserie chicken and it was so dry you could barely eat it. We told the waitress and she told the manager. When we were leaving I asked for the manager we were told that he already knew. I ordered the chicken with spinach and feta which was moderately good. It included a rather large dinner roll and choice of salad or soup. I mean it was okay to satisfy your hunger but was further delineated to mediocre when I took a bite of the stale German chocolate cake! Definitely a major "whomp-whomp" fail. Solid 3.5 stars, rounding up for great service! I haven't been to a Greek Restaurant in quite a while, and I am reminded of what I was missing: Huge quantities of food, lightning quick food delivery, and snappy, friendly service. Yes, they serve that special yellow gravy that is possibly not of animal or fowl origin; I don't care. Yes, their soup may be out of a can (or not); I don't care - I liked it. Yes, their meets are smoked in house; I do care - the smoked turkey was fantastic! Stupid us, we ordered an app, soup, bread, and entrees. It was a mountain of food - way too much - but all was pretty good, especially for the price.
