They have become more 'Corporate' over the years, but their bread is definitely still delicious, and we can't find that great Blue Moon anywhere. Place that ontop of a sugar cone or waffle and it's heavean. The only fallback this visit is they won't make you a skipper sandwidch with other icecreams. The cashier gave us a sob story of how they have to make a whole batch and won't do anything besides what they had prepped. It was dead in there so not great service on that, but we sill walked away satisfied with the subs and icecream cones. read more

I was first introduced to the Chocolate Factory from a friend when visiting his family back in January 2024. Second visit here on Monday, 9/30/24 around 1:00pm. I ordered the phoenix full sandwich. It was fresh and good. I appreciate how pickles, jalapeños, banana peppers are available for self serve to add to your sandwich. It really adds a delicious crunch to the sandwich. I think the sandwich is definitely a good portion where it could be two meals, of course depending how hungry you are. The gal at the counter helping me was nice. Her coworker making the sandwich was very nice and engaged in conversation and just super friendly. It's a cute sandwich shop that offers ice cream options as well. The waffle cone has so much chocolate coated on them. If I wasn't so full and had a 5 hour drive home ahead of me, I would have gotten one- next time. Cute restaurant that's clean. read more

I've been going to this location since they had the beautiful wood candy section (age myself ). GREAT subs! They need to bring back the sprouts but never had a bad sub. The fudge is a must have. Fantastic subs. I go there all the time but they mess up the order EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Also if you get a bowl of soup, they fill up the container halfway. While visiting our family lake house, the one thing that my dad made sure we did was head to The Chocolate Factory to get a Cornucopia. It was something he did as a kid so this was a major nostalgia trip for him. The Cornucopia is one scoop of every flavor but we ordered it with no sherbet so we got extra scoops of certain flavors. It also comes with every topping they have. It's $40 which sounds expensive but it can feed a lot of people. Embarrassingly, we were able to almost finish it with 5 people. It was delicious and had flavors for everyone. The employees were super friendly and VERY excited to make it for us. The manager said it was only like the 5th one she made in her 17 years there. I wish they would open up a new location in Lake Geneva because when I get a craving for a Phoenix sub, nothing else will do. Double meat is the way to go. The blackberry turkey is another standout especially and there's also enough variety in the ice creams flavors to never get bored. read more

Love The Chocolate Factory! They've got a huge variety of ice cream, plus lots of sandwiches to choose from. So, come for lunch, and stay for dessert! This place has been here forever. I moved away from Oconomowoc in 1988, and this was one of my favorite places to go when I was a kid. On both trips back since, I've made sure to stop in for a sandwich (stayed away from the ice cream this time). By the time I got home with the second sub, I learned that I paid $7 for a piece of bread and 2 slices of ham. Again, not what we ordered. My fault for not unwrapping it before I left!! Yes. I am a fan of The Chocolate Factory. I have been coming here since I was little and growing up in the Oconomowoc area. The subs are HUGE and give you a lot for your money. I usually get the veggie (stuffed), turkey (stuffed) or California. They will always give you plenty of food here. Staff has always been very friendly. Fresh bread - crusty and warm - is the best part of the sub in my opinion. Save room for ice cream! Blue Moon is a specialty here. They used to have bubble gum pieces in the ice cream, but I'm fairly certain they don't do that anymore. Do yourself a favor and stop in. While Santa Fe Records and Tapes may be long gone, you can still stop in and make a few stops in the shops at Whitman Park. read more

I love the food and ice cream here. It's always so delicious and I never have issues with my order. That being said, I ordered a sub and a shake and the girl at the register who seemed to be new forgot to make it. Another woman, who I can assume was the manager, yelled at this girl in front of me and essentially embarrassed her for not making the shake. My absolutely favorite sub sandwich place of all time. I always stop in here MULTIPLE times with my husband when we are in town visiting my parents (who live in Oconomowoc). The bread is SO incredibly fresh, chewy, and tasty - what really makes the sub! And they definitely do not skimp on the ingredients (the deli meat they use is very tasty, and lots of it on their sammies). I've only been to this Chocolate Factory location and the one in Waukesha - the one in Oconomowoc is my favorite. The sandwiches always seem to be executed better, have fresher ingredients, and they seem to have more options available (more sandwich specials, offer more "other" items (like soups) on their daily menu, etc.). I remember coming here all the time in high school, so I was excited for a taste of nostalgia while home for the weekend. On the upside, the bread tasted just as I remembered! It's crunchy on the outside and doughy on the inside. Just as a sub should be! Their sub fillings were the same as I remembered, but with a few new additions. I decided to try The Phoenix. It came with turkey, jalapeño bacon, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle mayo (plus their usual toppings). You collect your order at the counter. I took my first bite and realized they forgot my bacon. Whatever. They were busy and shit happens. I went up to ask for it. The girl making the sandwiches that day was sweet and apologetic as she added bacon to my sandwich (though not jalapeño bacon). However, my reason for the three stars was that the manager made some snippy comment to me when I said it was no big deal. It really was off-putting, seeing as I wasn't even complaining! If she treated me this way, it made me wonder how she treats staff. I would still come back but I hope for maybe better customer service. read more

In part this is an explanation to the service attendant working at the dipping station yesterday (8/30/21) approx. 2:15. I said the process of redeeming awards at that location is "stupid". Having been a long term customer of The Chocolate Factory, both personally and corporately, I know the process for earning and redeeming rewards for frequent dining at The Chocolate Factory. Indeed the redemption cards I gave the employee reflect the frequency of my dining. I have redeemed at your location in the past with cheer and positive service. You have a Manager there that is outstanding! On the other hand the General Manager/District Manager that attacked me is not positive, is not outstanding, and reflects some of the worse customer service I have ever received. Not only did she scold me at the counter but felt the need to chase me outside to insult me in front of my family. I value restaurant staff, I have worked in the industry for over 30 years. I trust that the training and support given the referenced employee at this location will continue to prepare her for positive customer interaction in the future. Sadly the lack of training she has received did not provide her with the depth needed to man that dipping counter. read more

Our office ordered lunch at about 11:15/11:30, it took 2 hours for them to deliver it across the street! Our entire staff missed their opportunity to even eat lunch, by the time it was delivered! The manager was so rude, no apologies! Blamed it on the weather and our large order! We "were" very regular customers for staff meeting lunches and sad to say we are so disappointed in how they handled it, we wont be back! I could hear the lady in the back ground when I was placing our order that this was the last time taking large separate orders over he phone. Very disappointing! We told the delivery person to take the food back when it did get delivered, as we had soup, and sandwiches that were now cold, and 2 hours late!! The Chocolate Factory is a great place for sandwiches, soups and, of course, a great selction of ice cream. The sandwiches are fresh and they have a great selection to choose from. I am a big fan of the soups. Not bland, but not overly salty either. They charge you for the ice cream by the ounce - every cone and cup gets weighed - so you are truely getting what you pay for. It's a bit overpriced so I don't go here all of the time, but when I want a treat with my family. The staff is always really nice. read more
