**July 2025: Wednesday Lunch Visit**…read more While I was researching iconic food in Wisconsin I came across an item called Butter Burger which sounded so decadent and delicious. My friend and I were only exploring Milwaukee for a day so we wanted to make sure that we picked a good spot to try this region favorite. AJ Bombers came up consistently ranked on top for really great burgers. We came on a weekday so parking was pretty easy, but it is metered street parking. The restaurant is located at the corner of a large building and since we arrived right at opening we were seated right away. We ordered the following -Cheese Curds $9 - These were delicious. Nice and crispy, almost had an airfried texture to it so it tasted healthier than others that I've tried -Bomb Butter Burger $14 - The meat was very juicy and overall a good burger -Milwaukee Burger $12.50 - This was a fantastic burger and I think I preferred this to the Bomb Butter Burger. The flavors were more balanced IMHO -Tater Tots and Fries: The burgers all came with a side and I enjoyed both! They were freshly fried and served hot. The tots made me feel really nostalgic since those were things I remember eating growing up. The unfortunate news is that this restaurant despite all the accolades will be closing later in 2025. It's served Milwaukee for 16 years and while I'm bummed that they'll be closing their doors later this year I'm glad that I got enjoy one of Milwaukee's best. If you get a chance to check them out their decor also has a lot of personality.

There was a singular waitress there but she was nice and checked in on us. I ordered the Milwaukee Burger. I loved the onions on it and added tomato to it. I thought the burger itself was ok. Not too much flavor, I wish it was a little more pink. It would've been better if the bun was more toasted as well. I ordered onion rings, fried pickles, and cheese curds. Cheese curds and onion rings were really good, but the frickles were huge and every time I would take a bite the pickle would come out of the batter and I would be stuck with the plain batter alone. Overall loved the ambiance and I was miss Aj Bombers and its history.

My partner got the Cajun Mac and cheese with chicken and the waitress suggested a side of fries, he said it was very good. My child got the pepperoni pizza, they have a 12inch pizza and it was enjoyed! Definitely recommend for dinner when you're about to go to a show or if you're in the area!

The outdoor area is especially nice, with all the gorgeous plants that the manager/owner personally hand-waters. It's a small detail, but it really adds to the atmosphere. The place can get very busy before a Brewers game, which is completely understandable. They do have parking, although street parking is pretty plentiful too. Inside is a little tight, but groups of up to six should be able to find a spot without too much trouble. Anything larger than that might get a little dicey. I tried the chicken sandwich, and while the chicken itself was a little thin, the flavor had me wanting to come back for another one. Sometimes that's all you need to know. And do yourself a favor and order a Bloody Mary. I sucked mine down way too fast, which probably tells you everything you need to know. A Bloody Mary at Sobelmans is part of the full experience. Great staff, great atmosphere, good food, and a solid spot to hit before a Brewers game. I'll definitely be back.

They had tvs at the bar so sports fans could see their favorite games while enjoying a drink and some food. They have great drink deals for happy hour, including $5 mules and old fashioneds. Menu-wise, they have your basic bar food. We all got burgers which were fine, nothing special. I was disappointed by the ranch chips, which are supposed to be covered with a dry ranch seasoning but unfortunately lacked any ranch flavor.

The bar has a fair amount of good bourbons and at decent prices for being in the deer district, such as the double neat pour of Stagg I had. There was one bartender/server for the place, but she knew how to hustle while still being super friendly. The interior could use some art on the walls, but is bright and clean otherwise. The food was delicious and presented very well. That bacon I paid extra for? Oh my goodness. Thick cut, perfectly cooked, so dang good. Usually I regret adding bacon but here it is a must. My 8-year-old kiddo, who is practically a vegetarian at this point, devoured her grilled cheese and half of the big bowl of soup. I never even saw my wife's chicken sammy, so you know it was good when it goes down that fast. Thankfully as our food arrived the place started to fill, as they deserve to be filled! I want to come back on a non-event day to try the shrimp poboy, their house dry rub wings, as well as on the weekend for their brunch.

I dined at the restaurant as part of a wedding rehearsal dinner, and they had a BYO burger bar. The potato bun was soft, perfectly chewy, and had hints of potato and butter. As for the smash burger patty it was pleasantly crispy but still juicy. Staff were attentive and friendly. Doughboy approved! The friendly server explained that it would take a few minutes for the food, but to me it was definitely worth the wait. I will definitely be back to try some of their other food!!

But fear not, there's still plenty of goodness to pick from. For our kiddos we got a single order of the mickey mouse pancakes for them to share (more than enough). Comes with a big breakfast sausage too, and juice. We chose a side of fruit to add. I had the an egg white omelette with mushrooms and spinach. It came with English muffins, yay! Also added an order of turkey sausage on the side. And my husband? Could not stop raving about the breakfast burrito. Hard to impress this man when it comes to food, but he absolutely loved it. Must say though, it's a shock to walk away spending $75 (after tip) at a diner for three breakfasts. Here's to hoping these prices don't keep rising. I've yet to try any of their lunch-type items, so will add that to the bucket list.

At $4, it may be a deal, but the normal price is double that and not worth it. And to be totally fair, if I had just stopped in for dinner without my coupon I would have gotten the cheeseburger meal. However, the patty was just as thin and zero toppings on that one as well. And it costs more. Maybe the breakfasts are a better value? They forgot the side of sausage gravy but he asked for it because he likes to place it on his skillet. He said the pancakes were the highlight. He also doesn't normally bring home leftovers but the skillet was good enough, he chose to bring it home and eat it that afternoon. What was special about the pancakes was the vanilla flavor all throughout. If we had to go to Milwaukee for another doctor appointment, we'd return.

I worn you though, you will need to get there early in the morning as there is always standing room only. The customers are polite and mindfull of others. It's the best for the south side.
