Have had family come here for years now when I am too busy to look after their cars. But recently, they asked me to double-check their diagnosis after something seemed off. Said the car needed new brakes and tires all around. Brakes were new and very thick, rotors were the same and verified by thickness. Tires were at 4mm, and not needed to be replaced yet. Also found on the car that they impacted the engine drain plug, I could not take it off even with a 1/2" ratchet. They do work for cheap, but you need to know what work it needs read more

Still our go-to car mechanic for our BMW. Now it's my son (next generation) who is a loyal customer. Loy has been taking care of our 650 since the day it run out of warranty until now that I've given it to my son. Very fair in pricing but sometimes they get so busy so you should make sure to make an appointment or discuss your situation with them. Car was broken into. I was referred there by my parents because my moms door lock had been repaired there before but when I went, no one looked at my car and was told to go elsewhere!? Like huh? Then after my father called then they said for me to bring the car in!!????!!? RIDICULOUS!!! There's no reason for you to have to jump through hoops even for a CONSULT. This is the SECOND time I'd been turned away by them even after they've fixed one of my personal cars prior... dont know what the vendetta is but i wouldn't ever go here again or recommend! My boyfriend had the same experience as everyone else giving it a 1 Star. They said they ordered a part and that's why he couldn't get his car back but instead fast forward more than 2 WEEKS LATER his car still hadn't gotten any work done on it. Where was this part LLOYD ordered? He said the car hadn't gotten work done they couldn't figure out the issue. Then why did you tell us you ordered a part you didn't for an issue you couldn't figure out? A bunch of mechanics took more than two weeks to not figure out why oil is leaking? The first time my bf had car troubles my uncle who is a mechanic figured out that the battery Lloyd installed was bad. Lloyd must've known as well because when my bf called he said bring it back and he'll switch it no cost. We brought it back switched it he didn't test the battery we brought back and didn't say anything leading me to believe it was a used or bad battery and he knew it. Today we called and said were picking up the car. People can't not have a car for WEEKS at a time and have work and do things. We come in and his hood is up and not ready for pick up. Then they say they have to work on it before they can give us the car. This is why we called you in advance. These guys just want to scam you. His family used to bring their cars here, dozens of people but not anymore because were damn sure telling everybody how shitty this place is. DONT COME HERE! Their mechanics use your own cars to drive around in that's why they keep them for weeks and why many reviews say they found FOOD AND JUICE STAINS in their cars. It's a free fucking rental on you. They say they ordered a part so you'll wait and they can use your car longer. I'm going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or BBB, because this is a horribly run business. read more

I had the worst experience with this place. I took my truck in to get the transmission replaced/rebuilt and he kept it for over THREE MONTHS! The owner kept promising me, "Next week..." At about two months, I was so upset I went in and demanded my truck. He said that I can take it but "...it's not ready. It still sticks when shifting so I need to adjust some things." He told me to go ahead and take it for a test drive to see what he's talking about. I did and the gear shifter did stick. Fine, but why were there food wrappers and empty juice boxes in my car?! There was juice spilled all over my passenger side floor mat! He said he had been taking the car home to test it and the juice boxes were from his kid who he had to drop off at school. What?! I was so pissed but, as always with mechanics (most), I was at their mercy. I had to keep waiting. Like I said, after more than THREE MONTHS, I got my truck back. I thought he would give me a huge discount since he had my truck for so long--I mean, car rentals are at the very least $25 a day and he was driving mine around for free, but he said, "I can't give you a discount. I can give you a $100 credit towards oil changes." Yeah right, like I would leave a vehicle with this guy again. I wouldn't even trust him with my bicycle. I'm not sure how he got such a high rating here on Yelp, but it makes me a little suspicious of the other reviews. I would not bring your vehicle here. If you do, make sure to confirm with him when the work will be finished. I would get it in writing. Good luck. read more

It's been decades since duct tape, baling wire and used pantyhose was the my repair kit for the old Ford truck. Now, as an octogenarian with a fussy Volt, I actually needed someone to replace the bulb in my left front light. The Chevrolet dealership had just charged me almost $300 to do wiper blades (and three trips to get it done) so I stopped by George's with my bulb problem. They quickly ascertained it wasn't a bulb--they would work my Volt in. Two hours later, I had the car back, a funny story about a mouse who ate through wires, a new bulb (!) and a bill for $98. Took my car in for a smog and A/C recharge! They offered me very great pricing and told me it would be done within 2 hours because of the amount of cars they had in at the time. I spoke with Llyod and Adam who works there and they were just asking me about my Subaru WRX. apparently adam drives the same car and we were just chattin it up for a bit. Very friendly people and definitely knowledgeable on all aspects. I ended up just walking around the neighborhood and got a call after an hour to say that my car was finished. THATS FAST! George automotive is located in not the best part of san leandro. But just like food the best place is always not where you expect right? i was recommend by a friend to get my maintenance on my beat up daily driver honda since it needed a whole bunch of stuff. I called many other shops beside this one to ask for quotes and expected time to get everything complete. Lloyd picked up the phone when I call and was very helpful explaining what i should get with the service I wanted and what can hold off because its not really needed. too tell you the truth i'm clueless about honda, I assume there similar to toyota or lexus since those are the vehicle i work with all the time. Lloyd was able to get me the best price around the area and also the shortest amount of time! heck yea going there right away. Meet Lloyd and he was friendly enough to actually show me what we were talking about over the phone. I was able to meet the technican also that was working on my vehicle. His name was Adam, very funny and knowledgeable guy. He is also very fast!!! I was expecting at least a whole day or two if not to get this big service done, but i got a call before end of the night saying my vehicle is ready for pick up. boy was i excited went down and I was able to talk to the technician Adam and he went through everything he did and what he thinks of it and what i should probably look into next and what to hold off from his experiences with these car. it was fixed first time!! biggest plus!! thanks guys read more

We live in Antioch so I really wasn't trying to drive all the way here and back home ... but all brakes and everything else that needed work got done all in one day and for more than a reasonable price. I asked the owner if I can borrow his snap ring pliers just for 5 seconds and basically refused a helpless dude. Luckily my house was somewhat nearby and just walked there myself. Asshole move to refuse someone when snap ring pliers are dirt cheap Went here before for my oil changes. While it was decent service, it was good enough. Took my 2010 Chevy Silverado to get basic oil change and tire rotation if needed. I waited there and the work was done in a timely manner. I was told I should think about getting new tires because the tread is wearing down (original tires when I bought the truck 8 years ago). I said sounds good and I asked how did the brakes look. I was told they look good and doesn't need any work. The funny about this when I took the same truck for an oil change at the Chevy dealership on Davis St 5000 miles ago and I was told I really need my brakes done. My long time mechanic had been Crown Chevrolet in Dublin. After they closed up shop a few years ago, I had been without a good, honest mechanic, which can be a pretty scary thing. When my front brakes needed repair a few weeks ago, a co-worker who SWEARS by George's Auto Repair referred me to them. I am SO glad she did! The day before my appointment, I called 4 other shops to get repair quotes. Every single shop I called quoted me at least 100.00 more than George's shop did. I had to reschedule my appointment to a Saturday morning, which is an especially busy time for most repair shops, but, George's Auto completed the job and had my car ready just after 10:00am! It's not a fancy shop, and the restroom wasn't exactly luxury accommodations (but, hey, when ya gotta go, ya gotta go). Who cares about the restroom though! GREAT JOB, Lloyd and crew!
