Lai always does such a great job & they always tell you when you need to fix things & instead of trying to force you to fix everything at once. My Oil Changes for Mobil 1 Synthetic are $60 normally and last for 5000miles. I recently was quoted by the dealership for a timing chain, mass airflow sensor which was $2100 but here it was less than half the price to take care of that and more. This place really saddens me and it disappoints me that I feel taken advantage of and ripped off - please take caution. My serpentine belt had ripped and I took it in to see if I could get it replaced. As soon as I pulled up I was approached by a mechanic and I showed him what had happened. He asked me to turn on my car and we both noticed the pulley on the power steering pump was not turning straight and was wobbling. He turned off the car and said that that entire part needed to be replaced, which I agreed with. I asked him how much and he went to get another guy to take a look at it. When he came over he glanced at us and then at the car and said it would cost us $400 total for both the part and labor. In desperation and in need for my car, I agreed and asked him how long it would take. He said 2 to 3 hours, so we gave him the key and left. An hour or so later he calls me and starts off by saying "Oh, you're going to need more work done! The AC compressor is no good! It's not turning, you're going to need to replace it!" Confused and even more stressed out, I asked him how much that would cost. He said it would be $1,000 all together. I started to feel suspicious of it because when I handed the car over, I had no issues with my AC at all. I asked him if the car would still be drivable if I didn't replace it. He made it seem like it would be a very bad issue if I didn't replace it, but I could "temporarily" drive it for emergencies. I told him to not do anything extra but to replace the Power Steering pump like we had agreed. An hour later I went to the shop to wait. No one came to ask me why I was there or asked if I needed help. I had to wait until the mechanic working on my car came in and noticed I was in there. He starts off saying that my car now has a funny noise and that it was coming from my compressor. I felt so upset because my car wasn't making that noise at all when I left it. He told me that he couldn't guarantee that the work he did would be okay if something else happened to it. He tried to show me the price of the AC compressor on his computer to explain why he wanted to charge me $1000. The whole situation seemed very off and I just wanted to pay and leave. I checked my AC and it was working fine and it was blowing out cold air. My gut was telling me that he was being dishonest/suspicious. About three weeks later, the same pulley is now having issues. It is not spinning straight and I'll now have to get that part replaced again. If that part is brand new, why am I having the same issues? I have pictures to show the damage on the pulley on this "brand new" part. We had called them to explain what happened and they told us to bring it back but honestly I don't want anything to do with them and I hope others are cautious if they give them business. read more

While my last car was dying, I went to this shop for about four repairs that cost around $2500. And when my car eventually died, I scheduled the salvage yard tower to pick up the car from this shop directly. During the night before my vehicle was picked up, this shop stripped my car. They took my tires, hudcaps, interior components, and everything. The salvage yard who agreed to pay me $600 for the salvage yard backed out on original bid and paid me $300 instead. I brought my car here because it was recommended by a few people. I thought, what the heck, with the good reviews and the recommendations, they might be a good shop to go to. I knew my car needed a new thermostat because the engine temp was always on the first mark of the cool side and it never reached the operating temp. Brought the car in and told them that the car did not reach it's operating temp and it always stayed on the cool side. I spoke to the old person that spoke little english (don't know his name). He said ok and that he'll check it out. I get a call 3 days later saying that my water pump has gone bad and so was the radiator. I told them that I was pretty sure the T-stat was the culprit. He replied saying that they checked the T-stat and it's working fine. I didn't argue. He's the mechanic, what do i know? I'm just a guy who works on my car as a hobby when I get a chance. The next day, I picked up my car and i paid around $300. I didn't get a chance to see the temp go to the 12:00 position as the shop was less than 1/2 mile. I didn't think i needed to anyway since supposedly it was fixed. 3 days later, I got a chance to drive the car and I kept watch of the temp. An hour of driving has passed and the needle still did not hit the 12:00 position. Even after 15 mins, it was still on the first mark of the cool side. I'm irritated at this point since I did tell them the T-stat was the problem. When I got home, I looked at the radiator AND IT WAS STILL THE OLD ONE! I didn't even bother to call the shop and complain for the fear that if i do take it back, they might make it worst. So i fixed it myself. Since I was going to take out the T-stat, I flushed the radiator and unbolted the water pump to see if it had been replaced. It looks like the water pump was replaced with an inferior model compared to mine. Mine had a metal impeller while the one they replaced had plastic. The upper and lower radiator hose was replaced too (by them). So i'm thinking that the only thing they did was replace the water pump and the hoses. I bolted the new T-stat and put everything back and test drove it.. After a few minutes of driving, the car reached the operating temp (12:00 position). I called my fam and friends and told them the situation. Their reply was maybe they just don't know how to work on german cars. I thought about it and my family and friends do drive import cars (jap cars) and also I did not see a single german car on their (510 auto) lot. It was mostly import cars (jap cars). read more

No matter how busy he is, he will take the time to take a look at your car. A perfect example would be right now with my girlfriends car. I was here 15 mins ago with her car, because it has been making some screeching noise, and Lai was and is working on a car when I arrived. I told what happened, he stopped what he was doing and took a look at my car. He fixed it and didn't even charge me for it. On my way home, I noticed that it was making a little noise when I stepped on the brake, so I called him. He told me to come back and he will be more than happy to look at my car for me again. This place is indeed hands down the best mechanic I've been to. These guys will do a better job than the lousy dealers who don't give a **** about your car. Their rates are extremely competitive and they are very honest. It does get hectic all the time, but that means they must be doing something right if customers keeps returning! Lai the owner is extremely knowledgeable. He even does minor body work / electrical work for me even though they mainly focus on major mechanical work. Even though he has an accent and many customers feel that there is a language barrier, they still return to him. He knows his stuff and is a top notch mechanic. Its the quality of work that counts, forget the communication. You can just drop your car off here and he will figure out what's going on and let you know step by step on what needs to be done. I have recommended many of my friends and family here and they can all agree that Lai is excellent on what he does. My dad's been coming here for years, and I also go to these guys should I be strapped for time or don't have the knowledge/tools to tackle my projects. Mike and Lai are straight-up honest folks who genuinely enjoy what they do. Their pricing is extremely competitive and they'll realistically tell you if you need to replace/fix certain parts. For instance, if there was a minor leak on an older car and the fix was very complicated, Mike/Lai would ask if the customer REALLY wanted to fork out the money or if he/she could live with it. They use OEM parts, and Centric rotors on my brakes, stuff I trust. They don't hurry the customer and are willing to let you check-out what they're doing as well as break-down what's going on with your vehicle. The place might not be the cleanest, the waiting area might not have wifi, there might be a few safety hazards violated (smoking next to engine oil), but this place is real. read more

Really disappointed on how one of their techs attitude was when I came in for diagnostics. I wanted to make sure that they are not going to make up some codes and over charge me for something that doesn't need to be fixed so I wanted to look on what code the machine would give. I even asked politely if I can look how the machine shows errors and this asshole yelled at me and said, "if you want me to fix your car then you need to get out of here. I can't fix your car if you're looking over my shoulders. Do you want me to fix your car or you want to look for it yourself?" And I again I asked as I was confused on how he reacted, "so I can't look over and watch what you're doing?" With a firm and arrogant answer, "NO!" I needed to see what the issue was as I was going on a long trip the next morning and it was already late for me to start looking for shop that would run the test for me so I just kept my mouth shut and bit my tongue. If I had sometime I would've cursed that fucker out and took my car and business somewhere else. Then after it was done I checked with the older gentlemen what we had agreed upon prior to the test that if I get the issue fixed by them, they will credit the $40 I paid for the diagnostic test and he said no credit and looked at me like I was talking some bullshit. Fuck this place and everyone that works here. I'm never EVER EVER bring my car to this piece of shit place. I wish they have 0 stars as a rating. Don't trust this place. read more
