Now for the GOOD stuff: We ordered the Dirty Pumpkin Chai, which was pretty delightful. My daughter had the Pumpkin Cookie Butter Cold Brew, and that was delicious. But the pumpkin bagel was the highlight. The orange-colored, pumpkin-shaped bagel had little traces of sea salt and it was just enough to balance out the generous amount of pumpkin cream cheese. That sweet and salty combination was SO good and definitely worth the try. Everything was a bit on the pricier side, but the drinks were good and that pumpkin bagel was delicious. I'd come back for it, just hopefully at a less busy time.

Even what was shown on Google was incorrect which led to multiple visits before I was able to finally succeed. Curbside parking on this block of El Cajon Blvd was easy to find. The inside had a couple of high-top tables and a few smaller ones for seating. A menu was written on a chalkboard along the back wall, however I am uncertain if it was current. A separate menu was displayed at the service counter and duplicated on a sidewalk sign. Only five items were featured as opposed to more than a dozen on the wall. I didn't inquire about the dishes of the day as recommended on the menu sheet. My choice was the Chicken Tikka which was grilled chicken marinated with spices and served with yellow basmati rice and sauce. Some lettuce with dressing was added as a salad to the mix. I did find the sauce to be a little spicier than I had preferred. I was not given an option to modify the spice level nor did I ask. A couple of pieces of meat were drier than the others. The prices seemed fair for the amount of food. I do believe the business needs to find a way to advertise and/or make their presence more prominent on social media. Based on my order and the number of attempts I made to come to Taste of Egypt, I gave a rating between three and four stars.

The wraps were not very good and seemed like the meats were just microwaved from the previous day. That day the store was suppose to be open at 11am and the app I used indicated I should pick up between 12pm and 3pm. When I arrived at noon, the store was still closed and one other customer was waiting outside to pick his meal as well. An employee ended up arriving around 12:30 pm to open the restaurant and prepared our orders which took another 10-15 mins. Despite my previous bad experience I decided to order something different and give them another shot. I ordered through the same app and was notified to pick up between 2pm and 6pm. I arrived there 1:50pm and saw that there were customers eating outside. I went to the door to open it and find it locked. Confused, I asked the customers eating outside if they just closed. They said the employee left and did not indicate whether she was returning or not. I went back to my car and waited til 2:20pm before giving up and going home. Luckily the app I used allowed me to get a refund. The food here might be good but I will not give them another chance to find out due to the experiences I have had with this "business".
