    Biscuits smothered with gravy

I been coming here for years. One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Great food overall with plenty of seating, In doors and out. Parking is challenging, but double. Pancakes are great, but they have any other tasting food. Today I tried the biscuits and gravy. They have big portions, so come hungry.

Scrambled eggs, hash browns, and country fried steak, in case the photo didn't give it away.

While all FOMOers were lining up for carbs at the grand opening of Marigold Bagels today, I avoided the crowd like any sane person would and came here instead. I was in the mood for pancakes but I'm man so I ordered the country fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash browns and got pancakes on the side. (I skipped coffee because I wanted to check out that Fuzz Records place down the street afterwards.) This place has a lot of stuff on the walls to look at. Its style of decor is very vogue to me.

Visiting from the east coast and had a wonderful breakfast with family. Food and service were excellent. A family friendly restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere.

Friendly service, good sized menu, cute antique decorated restaurant in a quaint neighborhood. Fluffy pancakes, thick, juicy ham, plenty of bacon served on our platter. Grits were so good. Wish the coffee wasn't ao bland. Overall a good experience.

Love coming here for breakfast with family and friends. The food is always good and huge portions! The interior isn't your typical dinner and they have a lot of unique trinkets that fit the vibe. Service is always prompt and I've never had a negative interaction!

Antique Row Cafe was on my list to visit but never had the chance to until recently. The cafe has outdoor seating which was a plus. Parking is a challenge in this area, only limited street parking if you're lucky. Once inside, I was greeted and seated quickly. The menu offered mostly breakfast and also lunch options, I went with the later and ordered what I was craving a Reuben sandwich and onion rings. The menu described it as home made, deli sliced and toasted marbled rye. I missed my usual Jewish delis in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, the delis and cafes in SD don't come close :( The Reuben arrived quickly and plated as usual with the onion rings and a pickle spear. I sat in a booth by a wall of framed pics of celebrities, mostly gangsters all looking at my Reuben. After much anticipation, a bite and another, I was disappointed in the lack of taste and lack of meat. The sandwich might as well be called a grilled cheese sandwich, because it was 95% mostly cheese...so disappointed. The onion rings and pickle spear were the only saving grace to quell me appetite but I didn't want to eat the rest of the sandwich and had is boxed togo, to maybe donate to local homeless. The waitress was nice but her constantly calling me 'Babe' was annoying, I will give her the benefit of doubt that she was not being offensive even though it was. The waitress needs training on how to address customers and not sound offensive. The restaurant inside decor had no style, mostly things you would see from garage sale rejects. Lots of frames pics of vintage celebrities and lots of knick knack junk... TBH, I didn't feel comfortable surrounded by all of it, as I expected antiques not junk, because that's what the name of the place was called, 'Antique Row' cafe. Well, I'm not inclined to try anything else on the menu, because my first impression was not good. Hate wasting money and time. Cannot Recommend :(

The food was prepared very well what was hot was supposed to be hot, but it was cold was cold. In other words. They paid attention to detail. My one suggestion is one a person has a salad fries and a burger. Serve the salad first so the person can enjoy the fresh greens. Other than that the service was very competent and polite. Restaurant is very clean and properly maintained. I suggest that you go and enjoy a meal there the decorations are very retro to the 50s and 60s.

Egg breakfast with ham. Pancakes too.

Been coming to Antique Row Cafe for two years now and it never disappoints. Service is fast, food is good, and the staff is friendly. Our favorite is the egg breakfast entree where you get a choice of eggs your way, a protein (we often get ham/sausage/hot links), hash browns or potatoes (we get hash browns) or a side of fruit, and toast/other bread options I can't remember because we always get pancakes. Being honest we come for the pancakes - so good.

Their biscuit is so good! I had a side of eggs and some grits and it was very fresh and very filling! The inside is so cute. The theme is adorable and the surface was superb. I'll definitely be back for more breakfast and to try other items.

Chicken fried steak, served with two eggs ( medium ) and hash browns ! That gravy ... Chefs kiss !

A great spot to have breakfast or brunch . A restaurant that does classics and does them well . Other dishes with their own twist but not overdone . I sat there for a 20 minutes after closing out and saw 3 different locals stop by just to say hi to the staff and have a quick catch up conversation before leaving . Friendly and efficient staff . Highly recommended if you want some great food. I'm already planning my next Visit .

5* for the nostalgia, excellent service, neighborhood charm, and massive servings! Every meal ordered is alway enough for 2! I love love love their biscuits and sausage gravy, with corned beef hash and poached eggs. Been dining here for 20 years and hope to do so for 20 more!

My partner and I shared the cinnamon roll and traditional eggs Benny. The cinnamon roll was huge and served with lots of icing and butter, it was delicious! The hollandaise sauce on the Benny was incredible. Perfect spot for a Friday morning breakfast. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and food!

Heading back to LA we needed some breakfast. We pulled up and got a spot right in front. Sat on the patio as enjoyed a delicious meal. Will def come back again. Omelettes were good and hearty. Biscuit with gravy was yummy, pancake was just right. Everything was good For management; you should get those fly deterrents. The ones that stand on the table and spin in a circle.

It's a casual spot, but the food leans more chef-driven and thoughtful. We started with the breadsticks and truffle butter simple, but really well done. The crispy portobello mushrooms were one of my favorites, super flavorful with a great texture. For drinks, I had a margarita and a bloody mary, both solid. For mains, we ordered the tri-tip sandwich (aka "Cardiff Crack") and the chicken sandwich. The tritip especially lives up to the hype really tender, packed with flavor, and easy to see why it has that nickname. Dessert is what stood out so much . The butter cake comes warm with ice cream and purée, and it was easily the highlight of the meal. I took a bite and just paused for a second it's that kind of dessert Overall, a really good spot if you want elevated comfort food in a laid back setting. I'd definitely come back, especially for that butter cake and tritip

I did not have anything to eat this time but will try the food next time. KPBS was having their One Book One San Diego event here and I was interested so stopped in today check it out. I learned that over 750+ book entries were received! Wow! At my table, I ended up meeting a librarian, a teacher and a publisher. The librarian was part of the selection committee and she suggested so many good books! She mentioned a book about octopus conversation in the atolls and my ears perked up. The book is Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler and its on my shortlist to read soon! Waiting for it on Libby! OK. back to the venue. We had the side part of the bar and everything was outside so that was nice. Service was great and Zach did a great job getting everyone's orders. I started off with a special edition One Book, One Brew beer, brewed in the Kolsch style and limited edition beer by Chula Vista Brewery. Nice, crisp and summery beer! I also had a margarita too, that was so-so for me so next time will stick with beers. Parking around here is a pain but I did find a spot after circling a few times. But alas, Carbon Angela's Kitchen deserves every flower, every reservation, every "you have to try this place" text thread, and every bit of love. This place has become one of my absolute favorite hidden gems in San Diego. Easily top five for me, and as someone who dines out a lot for a living, that is not a casual statement. There are places you like, places you recommend, and then there are places that start to feel woven into your actual life. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is that for me. Angela is truly the heart of this place. She has this way of making you feel like you are not just coming in for dinner, but being welcomed into something she deeply cares about. And Emanuele is absolutely part of that magic too. Together, they have built something that feels warm, generous, soulful, and so special. They feel like long-lost friends and family now, and I am honestly just so proud of them and all they are creating. The food is the kind that makes you want to order with the whole table in mind. The griglia mista is hands down one of the best investments you can make if you are dining with a group. It is the meat platter, it is the moment, and it is absolutely worth ordering. Four to five people can split it, especially if you are also doing appetizers, salad, wine, and a few extra things for the table. It is such a perfect nod to what Carbon was before Angela took over, when the space leaned more BBQ, but now it feels beautifully married with Angela's warmth, Italian influence, and the kind of hospitality that makes the whole meal feel like an experience. And please do not sleep on the rest of the menu. The short rib is fire. The arancino trio is always a yes. The eggplant croquette? Obsessed. The crespelle? So good. The Everything Salad is my favorite salad on the menu, and the street corn should never, under any circumstances, be skipped. I said what I said. The wine selection is top tier, the appetizers are memorable, and the whole place has that rare magic of feeling cozy, intentional, and completely unpretentious. You can come for a low-key dinner, a girls' night, a celebration, or one of those "we just need a really good meal and a really good glass of wine" kind of evenings. And the back patio? Perfect for an evening under twinkling lights. It is one of those spaces that just begs for a long table, good conversation, clinking glasses, and the kind of night that accidentally turns into a core memory. They also have catering menus available, which is very important information to keep in your back pocket if you are hosting anything soon. What Angela has built is honestly something to behold. One of the hardest-working restaurateurs doing the dang thing in a city like San Diego, and now opening Bedda across the way too? I am in awe and wonder watching it all unfold. It takes so much courage, grit, taste, excellence, and heart to build what they are building, and you can feel all of it in the room. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is a true labor of love, a hidden gem, and one of those places I will keep cheering for again and again. Go hungry. Order the griglia mista. Get the Everything Salad. Do not skip the street corn. Share Share Share, so you can try a little bit of everything and do a tried and true family style meal, you won't regret it.
