This towing company is a rip-off on Highway 95. My car broke down on the highway, and the police called this towing company for me. They initially agreed to tow my car off the highway, but after the police left, they ignored my requests and towed my car directly to their repair shop, even leaving me stranded on the highway. Later, my friend picked me up and took me to their repair shop. When it came time to pay, they charged me $847 for a 13-mile tow. My vehicle broke down Saturday night at 8 pm on the NJ TP less than 10 miles from my final destination. I called for a tow via #95. The wrecker showed up within the expected wait and towed me to George's Garage, which was very close to where I was trying to get to. Because AAA doesn't service the turnpike, I was worried about the $150 towing fee but George's Garage staff submitted it to AAA on my behalf. Since they do repair work on Sundays, I had to wait until Monday for them to replace my alternator. On Monday, I called and explained I was from out of town and they got to work that morning and replaced my part by 1:30 pm Monday and I was on my way back home. Tow truck driver almost crashed into my vehicle throwing me into another lane while looking right at my vehicle and did not care. I had my son in the vehicle.....I went into the office to put a complaint and right away the office personnel was rude and saying I was at fault. I told them to pull the recording from the driver and they said they don't have cameras. And then tells me she bets me $100 that I was at fault. And I responded I bet $100 that I was not to pull the footage from the truck and she told me to get the hell out of the shop......they are extremely rude and bad for business. Will not recommend this company to anyone. UPDATE: Owner of the business calls me about the situation and also was RUDE,IMMATURE, AND ARROGANT ....1st I was told they had no cameras and now they do. 2nd telling me I was the one in a rush and cut his driver off. I was at the point where it was just too expensive to bring it to the dealer and I didn't trust the dealerships anymore. Not only did they fix it, for the past almost year the truck has never run so well. I know this review is going to sound like a fake one, but it's true. I had over 150,000 miles on this truck and it really never ran as good as it did since the overhaul did it. It the estimate for the work came in so cheap that I kept adding things to it to see what I could get done. I will never go to another mechanic shop with a new car. I have lost trust in all the dealerships. I've read some of these reviews that are on this site and the NEGATIVE ones are total BS. I'M about to drop my truck off again to get some work done. The low oil level light came on in our 2017 Subaru Outback and Rachel in the front office told me to bring it in at 7.30 am on the Tuesday (May 30) after the Memorial Day 3 day weekend. we were stranded in our car in the middle of NJ on the express turnpike. Our baby was in the car and there was a metal oil plate hanging down under the w car. AAA doesn't cover the turnpike and connected us with George's. Within 30min, we were riding smoothly on the flatbed, secure and right with our baby still in her car seat. We were at the garage that was 3 miles away and our driver Nick was able to screw the metal plate back on for us in 10min (even though the garage was actually closed). They took our AAA info and we just paid a nice tip for Nick driving and fixing the car. We were bald on the road to our weekend getaway in less than an hour! EXCELLENT SERVICE! I got stuck on the Jersey Turnpike on a Sunday at 2p and had to use this tow company because its a restricted highway. I only waited about a 1/2 hour before we were picked up. Woodrow, who is extremely helpful, offered several options. I caught a flat on a motorcycle and all the dealers were closed. He gladly brought us to their shop and stored the bike for free and offered additional tow service if needed. He gave us a ride to a nearby hotel. The next day, they even tried to get me to a local garage so we wouldnt have to wait so long. No luck, not sure why but a lot of MC repair shops are closed on Monday's. When I went to pick it up, George's Garage tacked on "storage fees" of almost $100 because I didn't get the work done with them. These storage fees had never been communicated at any time prior to me picking up the car. They said I either had to pay the storage fees, or they were essentially going to hold my car hostage. They even taunted me saying, "The ball's in our court. You won't win." When I disputed the charge with my credit card company, they called me directly and threatened me. Our RV engine failed on the NJ turnpike in August, 2017. For break downs on the NJ Turnpike, we had to call the NJ State Police. They in turn, contacted George's for towing. We were nervous about having having our rig towed to an-unknown-to-us-at-the-tie shop but, in the end consider ourselves very fortunate. From the moment the tow truck arrived, Tony was very professional and instructive. He offered up his parking lot where we boondocked for a night and left the RV once we found out it would take some time. In the days that followed, Tony kept me up-to-date on a nearly daily basis working with Jasper, explaining the course of events, and I believe Mike did the work once the engine arrived. I trusted Tony and Mike to replace parts as necessary and in the end, they explained everything. On one of my unluckier days, I got a flat tire on the New Jersey Turnpike and called my insurance company's roadside assistance for help. They referred me to the state police, who recommended that I call George's Garage, the only place that seemed able to tow off the turnpike. Help to the rescue!--I thought. The tow truck took about 20 minutes to arrive, which was fine, followed by an extremely awkward, silent drive to the garage. Upon arrival, it took another 20 minutes for a receptionist to assist me, with just one other customer in the waiting room. The man was a truck driver who said he had been waiting six hours. He had a broken hose he eventually offered to fix himself--he knew how--but was told to continue waiting. The only other customer I saw besides myself and the truck driver was a man who walked in to get an estimate on mending his car part. He stormed out, incredulous at the overpricing and stating that he might as well purchase a whole new piece himself. After I waited almost three hours, I checked on the status of my tire replacement. The receptionist quickly snapped at me, retorting that she "already told me the wait is always two hours for a tire." Frustrated, I stuck out the wait since I had already committed so much time at this particular garage. **Since George's Garage is so small, it is unable to store the necessary car components its customers need, and orders from an outside vendor; hence, the wait time is exhaustive as the vendor drops off parts to George's.** After three hours, I was finally free to leave, charged over $220 for a tire and towing. The repairmen did not say anything to me when I greeted them with a thank you out of courtesy. My guess? George's Garage will soon be out of business if it does not expand to accommodate an effective storage space for parts, and if its customer service does not improve. read more

I appreciate their honesty and actually know how to fix and find the problems within my car. My car was still under warranty and dealt with 2 car dealerships that had messed my car up even more then what it was. This place is the absolute worst! STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!!!! I got into a car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike and unfortunately the New Jersey State Police called this so-called 'business' and set me up for what would be one of the worst experiences of my life. To begin, the tow driver was rude and on his phone gossiping about other co-workers and made ME get ON the flatbed to get into my car to grab my things. While on my overnight hotel stay I decided to look at reviews to see what I was in for; boy, I was not looking forward to the next day having to deal with these people. Not only did the woman answer the phone with a terrible attitude, but the minute we get there they want to give us a "clean-up" fee of $55.00 on top of the already raped like bill. On the night of the accident all that had came off was my bumper in two pieces which the officer and I had removed from the side of the road and placed on the flatbed. The woman whom answered the phone had told me "Were YOU here when the car came in?" Seeing as it was 3am, no one was there but the tow truck driver at the time the car was dropped off and wasn't present at the time we were there. After a few minutes of arguing the charge I was told there was pretty much nothing I could do about it and basically told to shut up and pay the bill in which I calmly just did because I wanted my vehicle. Once I get outside, I discover my battery was left discharged due to the hazard lights being left on the entire night. My car in a corner with a mountain of snow behind it with the two bumper pieces thrown inside of the driver's seat covered in snow. I run inside and politely ask to have some assistance with getting my vehicle out of the predicament it was in and the 'manager' came out and said 'we don't do that here'; at this point I became irate and disgusted with the horrendous 'service' I was receiving. After realizing I was all alone in this situation and knowing I would receive ZERO assistance from them, I go outside and thankfully there was an outside business tow truck that kindly assisted with giving me a charge and moving my vehicle onto the dolly that I was taking my car on at NO CHARGE; being in the situation I was in it was refreshing to see that good human beings still exist and I generously tipped the kind driver and started to strap my vehicle onto the dolly. Note that while all this was going on the manager and the entire staff was inside just looking and sharing giggles and laughs at my struggles. I don't agree at all with Kenneth N.'s review, my experience was so much so the opposite that i'm inclined to think that review is fake. i was driving a company vehicle and had a really bad experience with snow falling from a bridge and smashing my windshield. this was in the middle of our most recent snow storm. when the tow truck arrived the two gentlemen immediately began hooking up the tow. I was traveling with my dog and they were exceedingly friendly and more than willing to travel with the four of us crammed in the cab. when we arrived at the shop, the lady even brought my pup a bowl of water and didn't say a word about him being covered in snow and dirt. I gave her my information, she wrote the number of a nearby car rental place. On top of their initial courtesy, there were so many problems dealing with the roadside assistance program my company employs, which lead me to continuously ask them questions and their patience with me did not falter. the following day, after repetitive phone calls between me and the shop, the road service and the shop, and me and the service. the windshield replacement was scheduled and everything got taken care. and the woman never got short me once. now, the cherry on top, the next morning i had to transfer sensitive electronic equipment from van to van and this would require setting some items on the ground- but because there was snow on the ground i asked if they would allow me to use their bay while i made the transfer. THEY AGREED. that is almost unheard of, a shop letting you use their work space. And all with a smile. OH, i can't forget, the same guy that towed me the day before even helped me carry some of the heavier equipment from van to van. ARE YOU KIDDING? these are the nicest people I've ever encountered at any automotive shop in my entire life. Let me preface this review by saying that if I could give out negative stars, I would. It is one thing to have your car towed, but it is another to have the car be mistreated and made to feel like you are the scum on somebody's shoes when retrieving it. After getting incorrect directions to pick up my car (hey George, you might not know that there is a difference between North and South, but there is, in fact, a monumental disparity), I arrived to a less than friendly staff. The bill was outrageous - I was charged for two days of "storage," even though up my car was towed at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday morning and picked up at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. I explained to the assistant that I tried to pick up my car on Sunday, however they were closed. When I asked to see the manager about this issue, she stormed out of her office and told me: "They don't work for free!" Yes, I can see how my car sitting in a parking lot for about 30 hours is a huge working time constraint for you. Knowing that I was obviously fighting a losing battle, I took at my debit card to pay and was informed that they only accepted cash for tows. Well thanks for the heads up! I only had $75 in cash. When I asked if she would take a check or use my debit for the rest, she refused and "kindly" told me there was a bank around the corner. Obviously, this woman forgot that customer is the first word in "customer service." When I finally did get my car, the seats and floor was covered in mud and grease AND it smelled like an ashtray, complete with cigarette ashes all over the dashboard. Talk about an award winning experience. One more thing, I realize that for some this may discredit my review, but after the awful treatment I received I can't help but offer two words of advice to the oh-so-wonderful manager: Weight Watchers. read more

They charged an extreme amount just for a basic diagnosis of my car, something that I could have done myself in about 10 minutes with my OBD reader just to tell me they can't fix it because the part is discountinued. They said the car is totaled now... I found the exact part I need on google in about 2 minutes of searching, so clearly they don't care or try to work with you. Worst experience of my life. I wish our car was never forced to be towed there. My mother was in a car accident on the NJT while she was in the process of moving from NJ to MD. She had to go to the hospital and had an emergency spleen procedure. They gave me a very hard time getting her personal belongings from the car. The lady at the counter was completely unprofessional and condescending every step of the way. She even personally insulted me because I disagreed with their policy of not allowing me to get my mother's clothing and personal hygiene items from the car which she would need when discharged from the hospital. I did not say anything bad toward her, but the second I got annoyed she began badgering and insulting me (called me an "animal" LMAO) and then threatened to kick me out because I was laughing about how unprofessional she was. She took it to a personal level, I've never dealt with anybody so rude in my life. She spoke with my mother on the phone while she was in the hospital and on all kinds of meds and was yelling at her and acting extremely rude. These people don't seem to have any empathy or even pretend to care about injured family members or the predicament we were in.
