I would give them ZERO stars if I could. They completed a garage, and left with several glaring issues, hoping the 86 year old women wouldn't notice, she passed never seeing the garage. When I inspected there were a number of issues they should have seen. My wife called and they were to have someone out by end of week, as the house was put up for sale and the potential buyers ALL noticed the issues with the new garage. Then I called into the office, the woman on the other end was rude, lied several times as to why they didn't come out as of yet, giving me all kinds of bullshit excuses, I can't tell you how many times the truck broke down on the way, they must hove only one truck, or one carpenter. Finally, were pulling a guy of another job, he'll be there tomorrow, its 4:30pm, nobody here, stood up again. Buy your garage from a reputable builder, they were not the cheapest and I would NEVER HIRE them or NEVER RECOMMEND them to anyone. Average price, VERY poor quality, and lack of communication once they had a check and signed deposit. I will add myself to the list of people who said that if they could leave ZERO stars, I most definitely would. First off, watch out for the salesperson, Shannon. She will make you feel very comfortable, but she is ultimately a wolf in sheep's clothing. This company is the worst in all areas. Terrible customer service- rude, unprofessional, liars. The subcontractors they hire are a complete joke. The concrete guys splattered concrete all over my new siding (how the hell does that even happen and how do you NOT CLEAN IT OFF?!), all over my wooden stoop, they left garbage all over my yard. The carpenter apparently does not know how to use a measuring tape because the space between all the studs is different, there was a gap all around the man door frame, and to top it off a bunch of the siding is warped due to improper installation. Nancy, who you should hope you never have to deal with in your life, had the audacity to tell us that we must've had our grill too close to the garage and melted the siding. Our grill stays on our patio which is across the yard from the garage. It has never been dragged through the dirt/grass and moved to different spots along the back of the garage to warp any siding. That is beyond ridiculous. They will come up with anything to get out of honoring their BS warranty because they know their work is that terrible. If I could give negative stars I would. My garage door was stuck halfway. Several places wanted anywhere from $50 - $100 just to give an estimate. One company that offered a free estimate said the garage door needed to be replaced. The cost was just over $1000 & they couldn't get to it for10 days. George's Garage & Doors came the day after I called them. I have never EVER posted a review on yelp before, but I was sitting in my garage (that was built by George's) and I couldn't help but think, "I could probably have done a better job than this & I can barely use a power drill." Here's some back story, not that any of you care but if this review can save ONE person from going here, its worth it. We hired "George's Garages & Doors" back in 2019. They were super nice and seemed like they knew what they were doing. However, since pretty much the very beginning we had issues with them. They would schedule days/times to come work & then just not show up. The communication between them & us wasn't what we had hoped it'd be. Jump forward, garage finally gets finished. Its beautiful, everything we wanted. The color, the size, everything. THEN, it rains. & suddenly our BRAND NEW garage is submerged in water. I was absolutely devastated. My boyfriend put so much of his time, money, and energy into this garage, it was his baby. My boyfriend did everything himself to this garage besides the actual build & concrete aspect of it. He demoed it himself, he did all drywall, insulation, paint, electric, etc. ALL himself, with the help of some friends. Trying to shorten this story, we call George's they send people out to "fix" the leaks/foundation. This took 2-3 days, and then boom, we were told it was "fixed." However, it rained shortly thereafter and what do you know. ANOTHER flood. It's now been three years & the garage STILL leaks EVERY time it rains. I know its been a long time, but its just such a huge disappointment to walk into our garage every time it rains to puddles. Moral of my story, if you want a garage that looks immaculate from the outside but absolutely horrific foundation which gives you nothing but problems, call George's Garages & Doors!! DONT DO IT!!! Well , We had a garage build in August of 2017. After a complete tore down of old garage and driveway there was a different crew for getting rid of old construction to different crew pouring the concrete and another crew to finally build a garage. 33K later I was happy ... till 6 months later when my concrete started to crack and crumbled. Don't tell me it's weather related. At that time there was few projects done in my neighborhood: driveways, garages etc. none of other places have had cracks in the driveways nor crumbled surface. After all this money we have spent it hurts . . No wonder they don't give you warranty on it. It's so easy to take someone's life savings and than just turn their back on you. We were saving for a long time for this project . We wanted get rid of old garage and driveway because it was old and cracked everywhere. Now we have almost the same results. I work in customer service. Their responses were just cold and careless .Why would they care right? It's not their problem. Yes it's ours. Beware at all costs. These people are unprofessional and do not provide quality service. They will use left over material that does not match your project. THEY DO NOT INSTALL SHINGLES PROPERLY per the manufacturers specs which causes you to fall out of warranty completely due to improper instillation. The do not use galvanized nails on the roof and this leaves you susceptible to rust and further damage from the elements. The owner is a piece of work avoid making any deals verbally. Everything and anything you do should be documented as she will rip you off. BEWARE and avoid at all costs. Use Caution while communicating with Nancy as she will try to bait you into a argument. We have several points of concern nothing more than their inability to shingle a roof properly. Partial verbiage from the communications. I have more but as you can see below they are not a good company to hire. 1. The shingles installed near the lower ridge are held down with non-galvanized nails which have begun to rust. 2. The shingles on both lower ridges have begun to separate and can be easily lifted. 3. Non-galvanized nails used in the installation of roof vents are exposed with no caulk and have begun to rust. 4. The shingles are installed using a laddering or stair stepping pattern as shown below. The spacing between shingles is less than 4 inches. Inline image 1 5. There are 2 different colors of shingles used on my garage, the color I ordered was IKO Cambridge Weatherwood, there are 2 bundles of IKO Cambridge Driftwood installed and it is obvious that the color of the shingles on the roof are the not same. This is not a discoloration issue because the roof was built in January. 6. Georges Garages Brochure states a "25 years shingle life warranty", I paid for IKO Cambridge Shingles which come with a lifetime and a limited lifetime warranty. Per the warranty attached it states the following IKO's "Written Installation" are as follows. 7. Since the roofing shingles were not installed per IKO's "Written instructions" no claim I make to them will be honored. Thus you have null and voided my manufacturer warranty due to improper installation per the manufacturer. 8. The ASHI lists the following as a proper method of shingle installation. Again the installation method is the same as the manufacturer. Since the roofing shingles are installed using the Laddering or stair stepping method with less than a 4-inch spacing the roof now is more susceptible to water damage and leaking as seen here. 9. There are many shingles that have not adhered to one another and whose corners are lifting due to severe weather. IKO notes that this is common and that if the adhesive strip is damaged during cold weather installation the shingle may never adhere to one another. Inline image 5 read more

Very disappointing experience. In researching both Danley's and George's, I decided to go with George's since they were a family business. I was told by the sales rep Sheena George that I did not have to give a down payment until they began work but I did in good faith - a $2000 check deposit. They began their permit process with the Village, there was a setback requirement and they would not be start or move forward without the Village Committee to review and approve the work. During this process I got really ill and was in and out of the hospital for 2 years. I requested my deposit back and they refused even though the work was never started, no materials ordered or loss in costs. They said it could be applied for a future project of which the Village will not approve. Its a situation that I thought I would never experience. I've been in Client Relationship Management, Customer Service for over 15 years, this is unacceptable, I am extremely disappointed and rather upset that they do business this way. . read more

After speaking with a handful of contractors and receiving outrageous estimates, my wife and I almost gave up on this idea as we felt we were being taken advantage of due to our age. During our first consultation, Shannon (Georges Garages) spent a lot of time walking us through the process, going through the quality of materials that Georges used, the things to be aware of when selecting a contractor and in my opinion was more concerned about making sure we were going to end up with a quality result than gaining our business. Shannon understood the needs of our custom project | budget and did not try to take advantage of us. She instead demonstrated exceptional capabilities and understanding of our project, paid attention to every detail, and took the time to give us advice when my wife and I were at an impasse with certain custom elements. Needless to say, we were immediately impressed and comfortable working with Georges and decided to move forward. From demo to completion, Georges was superb. Beware! Let me start this off with a little background about myself. I'm a union tradesman with Quality Quality Quality at my upmost importance. I've completed 1000's of jobs in my field and have worked along side many other trades. If you don't mind taking 6+ days off of work to be home for George's garage. This is the place for you! Most of these days are for fixing what they have installed incorrectly or not installed at all. My garage failed both the Building and Electric inspection from the village. On top of that. I noticed many things myself during the install. But, was told "This is how we do it". I will list some of the issues which have been resolved. Only because I held the final payment. Ridge Vent on the roof nailed down flush with the shingles. Making it useless. Siding popping off in multiple spots. The eaves were faced with aluminum flashing. But, we're not wrapped closing gaps for water and/or insects to enter and rot the lumber. There was no blocking installed between the wall studs. The Electrician's installed the wrong manufacturer of breakers in my panel. Also, there was not the correct number of electrical outlets installed per the village requirements. As I said earlier. These were corrected. Now to the list of things that haven't been corrected and I've had no luck getting a response from George's as of this date. The concrete inside the garage has multiple cracks in it. I'm not sure if this is normal. But, I would think the number of them is an issue. Water is entering the entry door every time it rains. I noticed the door isn't a pre-hung and has no weather stripping around the door. So, If all this is acceptable to you? Then, By all means. George's Garage is the right place for you! read more

Awful. George's use subcontractors so you may get workers who have experience or you may get an apprentice who's been a on bender for a week. The project started by tearing up a carport and laying concrete - a 1-2 day job. This took a month to sort out because the guy who dug up the carport did not complete the work and left the site without saying a word. The all and powerful Nancy George decided that the car port has been demolished and cement could be poured without actually seeing the mess her guy made before he left. We went around on this one for several weeks. There was another day to get the construction team out to build the garage. The building was subpar with significant gaps, bent boards, multiple issues with the garage door, leakage where they put in the cement, etc. **One of their subcontractors said they do this in the city because they know they won't be inspected.** Based on my four month experience, I think that's probably true. If you have an issue, the subcontractors will tell you to talk to Nancy George, who may be the most hostile customer rep ever. She is difficult to reach, often won't return calls, and even after that, she's not helpful at all. Take your business elsewhere. There are plenty of garage builders out there. One or two might even care or be willing to adhere to the inspection standards, even if they are not mandated to do so. Clearly George's doesn't care. read more

I am very pleased with my experience with George's. They handled the financing, and were timely with erecting my new garage. I just picked out the colors and options, and they did the rest. There was a problem with the man door. The dead bolt was not installed in a way that allowed the door to close easily. When I slammed it shut, it damaged the lock and the frame, and split the door. George's was very responsive, and came out quickly. They replaced everything in a timely manner. What else could you ask for? Mistakes happen sometimes. Very poor communication between not only contractor and myself but with subcontractors as well. My garage was built two winters ago and initially I was fairly satisfied. Within a year's time, I had a couple of small issues so I spoke to Natalie and she sent people out to make repairs. The reason I'm giving them 1 star is that one of the issues that was so called "repaired" was loose siding on two sides of my garage. Well, unfortunately about a year later the same siding began to fall again and it wasn't due to some crazy storm or any other freak of nature; it was due to poor workmanship. So of course I call to notify them of the problem and Nancy says that she would send someone to repair it and to give her secretary my information. Days later, no update. I call back to follow up and was later notified that my garage was no longer under warranty therefore I needed to call a handyman! I reiterate that I'm requesting a repair on the same panels that was supposed to be repaired a year ago while it was in fact under warranty at the time which has failed again but never received a response back. After calling back several more times, I was simply told that my garage was now too old and they weren't going to do anything about it smh. Now I'm pissed because 3 pieces of siding have fell completely and one has gone missing because it fell in the alley and I guess someone threw it away. My garage looks bootleg, I'll have to try to color match the other pieces in order to replace the missing panel AND pay someone else to properly install them! My wife and I had originally gone with Danley's because of a somewhat lower price, but as we started thousands of dollars of additional costs popped up and we learned that the floor they were going to install in the rafters would not have been structurally sound. We called Sheena back and she worked with us every step of the way. We went with a custom design and Georges made it happen. The concrete team and builders were professional, highly skilled, and did a beautiful job. We couldn't be happier. Go with them over Danley's any day of the week. Let me start by saying George's Garages (GG) was recommended by an employee from a car dealership. We trusted his judgement because he seemed very particular about his classic car collection. Also he didn't provide a roaring reco, just a gentle one that seemed sincere. I started searching for garage builders, one of which was GG, but after reading the reviews, I was extremely skeptical about contacting them. I'm so glad we did. Larry, our salesman was the ultimate professional. EVERYTHING he promised, they delivered on. He spent a few hours answering all of our questions as well as addressing the bad reviews. We did not settle on GG the same day because I wanted more quotes, and a good salesperson can sell anything. We had five salespersons come out and provide quotes, and GG's pricing and professionalism was hands down the best...it wasn't even close. The project started on time and was completed nine days ahead of schedule. As for the construction aspect, it looks solid. My husband is a critical thinker and he too agrees that GG did a great job. If we find any construction mishaps like gaps, leaks, cracks, etc., I'll adjust my review accordingly. Let me first start off by saying buyer BEWARE!!!! We decided to go with this company because we were told from our sales person, the owners daughter, that this was a family owned business and all parts of the job were checked or done by family members. We were told all lumber was personally inspected by the owner before it gos out on a job. Let me say if this is true then he doesn't care about the lumber he sends. We paid extra for a patio to be built off of the garage that needed to be supported by 4 6x6 wood columns. The columns that were sent out and put up were completely split and in horrible condition. When I spoke to the contractors about this who were putting them up, they told me they had mentioned this already to the office but they were told to put them up anyways. Are you kidding me??!!! We were also told the columns would be wrapped but when it came time to do it the contractors told me to call the office because they were never told to do this. Of course calling the office is ABSOLUTELY pointless. I left several messages with out one return phone call. We were finally able to get the lumber changed out and the columns wrapped only after I told the contractors to let the office know that I would be filling a complaint with the BBB. Then someone called my house and said they would fix the problem. I had absolutely no problems with any of the contractors sent out. My problem is with the office. My garage has been up now for about two weeks, even though I was promised the garage would be done by July 4th. They will tell you they honored this timeline because yes the garage was up but it had no electricity at all so it was not finished. Also my contract states that my garage door would match my party door with the windows. When I spoke to someone from the office about this, only after I said I would file a complaint, they said that they never put Windows on the big doors and even though I told them my contract stated this he said I was wrong. I know how to read a contract. Now time for the best part. Since the garage has been up my big door has broken twice. The first time it wouldn't shut all of the way and some one came out to fix it and I thought all was good. Tonight we just had a major hail storm and I went to put my brand new car in my brand new garage and the door would not open. It just keep opening a little bit and the shutting on its own. So now my brand new car has a ton of hail damage on it!!!!! I spent almost $20,000 on my new garage and double that on my car. Short of getting a full refund back for my garage I will most likely seek legal action. It's pointless for me to even attempt to contact the office again and let them know about the door. I truly think they could care less after they get you to sign the agreement. We were going to go with Danleys but opted with Georges because it was a family owned and operated buisness and we were told that every step of the process was done or reviewed by a member of the family. I do not think that anyone in this company even communicates with one another. From step one we had a problem. We had the permit to build for over week before I had to contact the company and ask them when the garage would get started and they said they thought it had already been started. What a joke !! How do you not know what jobs have started and what haven't? They like to blame everything on the contractors when I believe it is the office that doesn't have a clue. After my garage was finished i took a ton of pictures of what had not been done right and sent them to my sales person. Instead of someone from the company contacting me about the problem. They had the contractor who built the garage call me to schedule a time to come back out. If you own a company wouldn't you contact me and ask me if I was satisfied with the work and if not how could the issues be resolved? It's just bad customer service. They do not care about the customer only the money. Once the contract was signed I didn't here from the office again until I had the contractors tell them I was going to be filing a complaint with the BBB. I still have every intention of filing a complaint with the BBB and contacting channel 5 investigative news and making them aware of the situation and also posting a review on every web site I can find. I do not want another person like myself who worked vey hard to be able to pay to put a garage up be taken the way I was. I will also be perusing legal action to get my car fixed from the hail damage. They put up a subpar garage which led to the malfunction of the door and my car getting hail damage. Although we paid a bit higher I had more confidence with their sales rep compared to other companies. Poor quality! Wish Frank J had reviewed sooner. Have same issues from the concrete to the roof. The day they brought concrete 6/13/12 someone on their crew wiped feet on my front lawn leaving concrete in my yard and my neighbor had to call city because concrete truck left mess by drain near his property. The concrete cracked in joints within a week- on the slab within a month. Yes, concrete cracks but good quality pours don't look like this one. Then the carpenters left gaps over 2 inches wide in 2 corners and over an inch wide in the others. Missed the studs in so many places it is ridiculous. No drip edge installed until they tried to fix the gaps that way but even that and caulking didn't fill the gaps so they had to cut the boards and resize them so around most of roof have cut boards. Nails and cigarette butts all over the yard. Electrical we discussed was not what they came to install and had to pay additional for conduit we asked for in beginning and were quoted price for by the salesman, but of the subcontractors, the elecricians were atleast professional and did their part right. When complaints made to Nancy, she continued to say we built you a quality garage and made us feel like we expected too much. Did NOT expect perfect, but yes I expect a professional contractor to do professional level work....did not get it in this case. Garage cosmetically is acceptable but all the little fixes and the cracks have shortened its life and lowered it's quality. They "fixed" what they could but don't seem to grasp the concept that if they had done it right the first time, it would not have had to be fixed. Would not recommend them. We are in the process right now of using this contractor to build our garage. We signed the contract in February and we were promised to be first on the list....well here we are mid-July and they are just taking their sweet time. I have never seen lazier workers in my life! They promised to send 3 crews (yet to happen) but instead we get two older gentlemen who spend more time smoking than they do building. We have even informed them that we are hosting a large event on Saturday but time seems to be no issue for them. Thank goodness we are paying a flat fee and not by the hour. Even my 4 year old son said "Look Mom, they are sitting down again". I can only hope the craftsmanship is worth all the time they are taking. read more

The concrete they used is low grade and cracks. After one week of installation we had to call them back for repairs. I have peeling, pitted and broken concrete in the slabs in my backyard and they are not willing to do a thing about it. It's so terrible that we may have to hire someone else to do the job over. What a waste of money. The company they used to install is horrible. There were 2 workers that argued with each other during the entire process. The so called owner Nancy is very rude and loud. Terrible !!! Signed up with them and they are difficult to reach via phone or email. will not use or suggest them to my worst enemy. You have to beg them to come out. The salesperson is nice and will promise a delivery date but do not count on it. If you need a garage then find someone else. read more

writing an update on my 8-15-2017 review.. I contacted Georges yesterday for an issue with my gutters. my garage is less than a year old but I was told I was " out of warranty " as the warranty starts when the contract is signed. 12 days past my 1 year, as I signed the contract with them on May 9th.... funny how they can warranty something that doesn't exist, as it took months to get my garage built so my warranty on my new garage was ticking away while still looking at my old garage. so technically I only had a 8 month warranty as they finished building AUG 8th.... anyway.. I was told they could come out and make the repairs at no cost... " if I would remove my post from Aug 2017." shocked by this I said " you wont just come and fix this because I had a bad experience and was unhappy with the service I received ?" she says "if you take down that post, we will repair at no charge". very bad business practice.. would rather benefit themselves than keep their customers happy. read more

After nearly a dozen estimates for Garages, Georges was one of the lowest. I decided to go with them. Got an estimate for them in early Aug and there was a slight delay with getting the permit. Finally got the permit and there was another delay for the concrete. In late Sep they finally got around to building my garage. They were quick and the carpenter said he'd be back the next day to finish and never showed up. After a few days, I made numerous calls and left messages with receptionist and all of them went unanswered. I made a complaint with the BBB and within days they sent a carpenter back to finish and correct some major issues I had noticed while they were building it. It shouldn't have taken this long and from the start they said they could build my garage rather quickly, one of the reasons why I decided to go with them. I would recommend that you pick another company. I've waited too long and to this date still don't have electric established to the garage. If I hadn't made a complaint with the BBB I'd probably still be waiting... read more
