George's Imports has serviced my BMW 645CI for the last 5 years. They have always done great work and priced fair.

The black Porsche in the pictures is my car. Ironic they would have it there given this is review that goes with it! Rude and way overpriced. Definitely skip. Took almost a week to just look at my car after making 8 am appointment and then I have to go in person to ask about my car because I don't hear back. All for a $262 bill for looking at it and replacing a light bulb. Literally $262 just to look at things l didn't ask them to look at so they can then give me a $1,000+ estimate including things I'd already done - i.e., told me I needed new rotors and sensors in the back when I had replaced the rotors (with originals) the week before and you could see the newly installed sensors without even having to take the wheel off. Bizarre. Also, shop is a mess and unprofessional. read more

I took my car in that wasn't starting. Another shop said it wasn't my battery and I was getting weird codes. I just talked to the mechanic and he assured me it was the battery by all information. Sent me to auto parts store, then put it in and George's saved me lots of time in a shop! Honesty! Thanks! read more

Newly moved to the state of MO and found George's to do an ID/OD reading to get my tags. MO law now says if your vehicle has less than 150k and is less than 10 years old, no safety inspection is needed. George's started immediately pressuring me and scaring me into getting a full safety inspection instead of the ID/OD required by law. I said no three times. They gave this patronizing vibe like, "you're gonna be sorry!" Of course, just the ID/OD inspection worked just fine for my tags. I feel Geroges was pushing a safety inspection so they could find things to upcharge me. Also, their shop is a mess and unprofessional. read more

They have always delivered the highest quality service for a reasonable price. Holland was originally my service advisor, followed by Junior, when Holland retired. Both have been excellent and have been a pleasure to work with. I trust George's completely and continue to be so happy that I don't have to go to Aristocrat or Baron BMW. I got my Saab 93 new in 2005. I started taking it to George's for regular service shortly after, probably 2007. I wouldn't trust my Saab with anyone else. The very few times that I let anyone else work on it, they got it wrong and the folks at George's made it right. They are experts in their field. Their estimates and turnaround time are on point. They've even provided me with a loaner car when one is available. I'm so thankful to have found a service center that provides quality service with a practical approach. They are a family owned operation and when I'm there I feel like part of the family. read more

You would think their prices would be good as they tout themselves as a small neighborhood shop, but do not buy it. Their prices are as high if not higher than the dealers. Prepare to wait and wait. Don't like the "attitude" either. read more

We had our 2000 Volvo S40 towed here for repair. But since we didn't know what was wrong with it, we weren't sure if we were going to pay for the repair or just trade in the car and get something else (if the repairs were going to be too expensive). Brad seemed very honest about the repairs that needed done and seemed to give due diligence to finding out what the problem was. Once we learned the problem was going to be a hassle (shipping engine to Canada) and expensive to repair, we decided to skip the repairs and just get something newer with a warranty. Brad was very kind to allow us to leave the Volvo on his lot for about a week or so, until we found a new car and could trade in the Volvo and get it towed off his property. The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is because he didn't actually do any repairs, so I can't speak to the quality of the work. read more

These people are the top. Appointment was easy to make. They took my car at the appointment time even though the garage appeared full to overflowing. They knew how long it would take. They are all friendly and customer service oriented. The waiting room is clean and comfortable. I connected to their wifi with my laptop and got a ton of work done. Prices were very fair. From listening to them speak with customers and each other I would say they are extremely honest and trustworthy. I would recommend them to anyone with a European or any car really. read more

On 10/26 my husband made an appointment for an estimate on repairs needed on our Saab. We gladly paid the 50 dollar fee. The estimate was costly so my husband said he would like to discuss it with me, and would get back with them. That was an 8 AM appointment. We talked about the cost versus the value if the car and agreed it was worth it to us to have repaired. At 3PM on the same day , 10/26 my husband called Holland Wright and told him we wanted to proceed with the repairs. He told my husband , I will look for the parts and get back with you to set up an appointment. Ten days went by, no response. My husband called back. No one seemed to have a clue. He stated that he had talked to Holland. Holland got on the phone and said he couldn't find the parts and proceeded to say a deposit was needed for the parts. He never mentioned that earlier, and we would have gladly done that. So my husband offered a deposit and Holland said "let me look for the part first", leading us to believe he had never looked. Again over 10 days passed no response. In the meantime my husband searched for the convertible top motor himself, finding one at a local salvage yard. The salvage owner was professional and suggested that George's call him to verify that it was the right part. My husband called Holland, this is almost a month now from the first meeting. My husband told Holland that he found the part , but the salvage yard would like him to confirm that it was the correct part, offering to pay upfront. That conversation happened over 10 days ago, no call! If you prefer to not do business with a customer, the professional response is to be upfront and tell them. I'm appalled at the lack of concern and customer service. read more

WORST SERVICE - I phoned the day before and asked them when they were available to look at my car first thing in the morning and I phoned them today and NOTHING they didn't even look at it. Had no explanation other than it takes longer than five minutes and wouldn't even provide a time frame to which it would be "looked at" he was VERY condescending to me and treated me like I'm an idiot for even following up 3.5 hours after they opened and told me they had availability. One word: Awesome. My Saab broke down on I435, as we were headed from Iowa to Texas. I called them (it was two days after Christmas) and they were open! We got a tow truck and were there in 40 minutes. They checked our car in and had an estimate back in 10 minutes. They had the belt and pulley in stock and had us out in less than 90 minutes, thus taking what could have been an overnight stay and turning it into a 2.5 hour delay to our road trip. The facilities are very new, they have a kids area with toys for toddlers and older kids, couches, an office area with tables and chairs. Free wifi and coffee and snacks too. Everything was clean. If I lived in the KC area, I would definitely return for anything/everything. They are reasonably priced and are clearly the Saab experts. read more

They're straight shooting pros who make sure you know your options, are careful with your money and highly efficient. If they (rarely) make a mistake, they cheerfully make it right. My car was not shifting properly. Dealer said it needed a new transmission. Brad checked it out and found a small piece of plastic was somehow stuck in the gearbox. 73$ later I was driving home. Oh yea the dealer wanted 7,500$ . read more

These people are very unreliable! They only want your money and want it all!! They are not friendly, a bit condescending and not willing to help even whenever the problem comes from their part. They installed a defectuous part on my car that caused it to stop runing and refused to replace it less then a week while I had no other transportation option. I have been taking my 2004 Saab 9-5 into George's Imports for 7 years, and the price has always been high. They have a nice shop, and will give you a loaner. The problem is I had a blower motor out, and I was given a $925 estimate by George's. Someone referred me to another shop in Independence.(I will leave the name out of this review, but you can find it if you search for it.) They fixed it up for me with an oil change for $350. That's a huge difference. You may be in my situation and think you can only take it to George's because of the location. You will be doing yourself a favor by trying another shop to compare prices. read more

Very underwhelmed with the customer service and work performed on my car. Tried this place out based on it's previous reputation, and I honestly think they were once a good shop. We went in to purchase a vehicle and could not get financing. We originally left a deposit and when we asked for our deposit back, we were informed it was non refundable. Never were we told that the deposit was not refundable And none of the paperwork we received said the deposit was non refundable. There slogan of "Treating people like family, it's what we do" is the furthest thing from the truth. If that is how they treat family, that is one nasty family. read more

UNBELIEVABLY RUDE SERVICE! The woman, Bobbi, who answered the phone was insulting and was near yelling at me when I asked their hours and if the accepted discover. I asked her name, her reply was "my name is Bobbi, does that make your world go around?!" I don't ever recommend this shop. There's always a mechanic who can do the job. We as consumers deserve respect and courtesy. Customer service is a dying art, and at this shop, it's obviously dead. read more

I've known Brad and the folks at Georges since about 1990. I've bought a car or two from them, but mostly used them for service on various Saab's, from a 900S to a 900T to a 9000CSE, and have come to expect knowledgeable service and decent customer care. No longer. I recently took my wife's Mercedes GL 320 Diesel in for a 'limp mode' issue. Ever since Brad and the crew worked on this Mercedes, I've complained of a diesel smell, low power, multitude of oil leaks, etc. Each time I was advised my car was basically a piece of junk and what should I expect from a Mercedes Diesel. I gave Brad numerous opportunities to fix the issues, and each and every time I wound up spending THOUSANDS for issues that had little to do with the issue I complained of, AND not resolving the original complaint, diesel fuels smell and oil leaks. FINALLY, I took my car to Mercedes of Kansas City (God, if I had only done that FIRST!!!) and for less than a quarter of what I paid George's, I had ALL issues resolved. I think if you have a SAAB, you should take it to the Saab Doctor, but if you INSIST on using George's, only use them for Saab related issues. I've never been so disappointed in a mechanic in my life. Personally, I think Brad is planning on getting out of the business and is simply trying to make that final money grab before old age takes its toll. My bottom line: George's isn't what it used to be, and I don't expect them to get better. I will take my 2 Saabs, my BMW 750 Li and my Mercedes ANYWHERE but George's. It pains me to say that, as I had always felt a kinship to Brad via Saab. No longer. Now it's simply Caveat Emptor.....let the buyer beware. Beware. read more

This place is always rude, and will call you trying to tell you that something is worong and will take quite a lot to fix. This has happened both times I have taken my car here, it is nover something simple, they will take as much as you can give them to finx the simplest item. Never again! Save your time and money take it to the other Saab shop in town. He doesn't try to tell you that your backup camera that thousands of other Saab owners have installed is causing your computer to malfunction because of the "delicate" Saab wiring system. I can't wait to get my car back from these crooks so I can rid myself of their underhanded ways. read more

I have never used George's Imports for service of a vehicle, but given their practice of having people towed from their lot after hours, and beyond the locked gates, I have determined that it is not a business I would ever use or recommend to anyone. We had two cars towed from their lot. It was after hours and there were no parking spaces available at the restaurant we were wanting to frequent. Construction prohibited parking on the street and parking on side streets was not allowed and it was a week night. Still our cars were towed. With a child and an infant car seats. Then we were told that the lot where the cars had been towed, closed at 6pm. If a car is towed there after 6pm, how is it possible to pick a car up from there until the next day, when of course there are additional "storage" fees. Clearly someone is making some money from this scenario and I suspect it is George's Imports. read more
