I took an antique arts and crafts lamp here to have a new socket put in. After I picked it up and put it in the car, I noticed that the was a very large dent that had not been there prior to the repair. When I took it back to point it out, the owner refused to even look at what I was referring too and accused me of lying and then he threatened me! A sad little place! I am staring up at my beautiful new light as I write this review. It is truly gorgeous and spectacular, if I do say so myself! :D No joke- everyone that walks in can't help but comment on it. ( I will upload a pic if I can figure out how!). I went to a few different light fixture places before finding George's and I am thrilled that I found it! Peyman was incredibly helpful, friendly, and patient with assisting me in select my ideal light for my living room. He pointed out why certain lights that I had previously liked wouldn't work for my space, which was very informative. There is an amazing and endless selection of lights. No matter what your taste is, you will find something you like. Aside from what you see hanging in the store, he also has books of items that he can order. Check out their selection- it's definitely worth the drive. Lastly, I must also comment on the installation of the light. They had to add an electric box to install my light, which required beyond the normal light installation. Plus, it's a really heavy light. Everything turned out great and you can't even see where they had to install the wiring and everything. Another electrician had told me it was too difficult to install a light where I wanted it, but these guys got the job done in a couple hours! Fantastic job rewiring two lamps that have been in my family for years. George added harps and the knobs on top to screw on the shade. The wires match the lamp and the lamps work great. Unbelievably, this place delivers to Echo Park! They actually dropped my lamps off! There's parking right around the back of the store. Was really happy with the work that Carlos did on our Vietnamese lamp, and price was fair.

I brought in an older pendant lamp to be fixed. It had worked fine for years, but the cord near the socket was turning brown and the lamp had stopped working entirely so it was time for a fix. They evaluated it and said they could just replace the socket, as I asked if it would be possible to keep the original cord and switch. I picked it up a few days later and it looked a little sketchy -- the new socket was attached to the old cord with black electrical tape, not actually installed into the socket as I had imagined, but I figured it was fine. First reason for a low review: the elderly man working the store at the time had no idea how to use the credit card machine and asked if I had cash, which I did not, so it took about 15 minutes to check out. I guess I can't really fault him as it seemed like the usual shopkeeper had just stepped out for a few minutes, but it was a bit unprofessional. Second reason for a low review: the lamp and bulb worked fine for about a month, but then a few days ago I turned it on.....immediately horrible electrical popping sounds shriek, blue sparks light up the inside of the lamp, and then actual blue flames erupt from the lamp. No kidding. By this time I'm across the room staring in horror. 15 seconds go by, then the flames stop, and the lamp free falls onto my couch, broke off from the cord from the point where the new socket had been attached to the old cord. The socket is scorched, the cord is blackened. Third reason for a low review: I take it in today to get a refund, as I'm pretty sure the lamp apocalypse had something to do with an improper repair. The man essentially told me it was the lightbulb's fault and that it was not the fault of the repair. I am not an expert in lamp repair but I'm pretty sure that the lightbulb was not the issue. Admittedly, it was a special chrome-tipped lightbulb I bought on amazon and only used in this lamp, but none of the reviews indicated that their bulb had CAUGHT ON FIRE or destroyed a lamp cord. He offered to repair the lamp again and to add a chain this time to hang from the ceiling so the cord repair point was more secure -- first of all, shouldn't there have been a chain the first time if he didn't think his repair would hold up?! Thank god the lamp fell onto a soft couch and not my floor! I really just wanted my money back, not a new repair, but he seemed eager to dismiss the cause as being his repair and to deflect it to any other cause he could get me to believe. Anyway, it was only a $40 repair so it would have been a lot more diplomatic of him to just refund me than to try and argue that it wasn't his fault when his repair clearly had something to do with the lamp bursting into flames. read more

We recently moved to the area. Our moves built a wonderful crate to hang our chandelier in for the coast-to-coast move. The packers had other ideas. They put it in a bag and placed it on top of some packing foam and nailed the lid on. The result was bent pieces and crystals the bottom of the plastic bag. We already knew that a couple of sockets had quit working. It was time to find some one to do everything we needed. George's Lighting was the perfect match for our needs. Carlos is a genius when it comes to making crystal chandeliers look fabulous. We decided to replace all of the sockets an wires and have him clean it up. He must have spent hours on it.
