I recently asked for recommendations for places in Canton who have burgers "that never miss" on my social media pages. George's was one of the places with the most votes on my poll so I had to give it a try. I've been looking forward to the Wednesday night Burger specials I keep seeing on local group pages as well. George's is located in downtown Canton surrounded by other local businesses and food establishments. The George's 59 Classic with fries definitely did not miss. It was a really good burger cooked to perfection and fries were delicious. Even though there was another table with kids, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Very cool place. Service was absolutely awful. I get it sometimes. It's a big bar for two people to cover. But it emptied out and didn't improve. Long wait to be acknowledged and even longer until I got a chance to request a menu. Long wait for food, which came out cold. It was a good burger, would have preferred it warm though. We love coming to this long-standing establishment when we are in the mood for a good burger at a good price. The restaurant definitely gives off a divey feel but that's part of its charm. George's offers monthly burger and drink specials, alcoholic adult milkshakes, tasty sides like kale chips, fried cheese curds, and pretzel bites, and delicious grass-fed burgers served on fluffy pretzel buns. They have a plethora of house-made sauces to accompany their homemade snacks and burgers. Most weekends, they feature local music and if you download the Visit Canton Experience app, they post dining specials. Divey burger joint. I tried the grass-fed, local burger on the waffle with the spicy maple mayo. Fries are delicious and fresh cut. Shared the appetizer sampler and we tried the beer cheese dipping sauce. Really good stuff. Great, quick service. Diverse selection of draft beers. One complaint: it was incredibly hot in there. No a/c on a rare 90 degree day in September. I don't have cajones, but if I did it wouldn't matter, because I would have been sweating them off. Other than that: awesome. read more

Definitely one of the better places in the area to get a burger. I got the King George Burger (blue cheese crumbles, jerk spice, bacon, sauteed mushrooms, egg bun) and really enjoyed it. The crispy bacon complimented the creamy blue cheese well and added a totally different dynamic to the burger. The meat was cooked to a medium as asked and tasted great. I upgraded my side order of hand cut fries to the "Italian Festival" option covering the fries with garlic, herbs, and balsamic reduction. Unfortunately I was looking more for a garlic fries option and although this one was suggested, the balsamic flavor was definitely overpowering. If this is something you're looking for though, I would definitely recommend it. Talking prices, the burger is definitely worth its price at $8.99. Coming from Los Angeles, I'm used to paying $12+ for the exact quality and taste. There was an additional charge of $3 for the upgrade on the fries which was worth it in my opinion. The only cost that surprised me was the normal sized (20 oz) bottled Sprite I added that came out to $3. Overall, definitely enjoyed my experience and I will be back in the future. The burgers are amazing, but don't sleep on the fried pickles. The adult milkshakes are also to die for. Live music anywhere anymore is a surprise, but a pleasant one. I had a meal at George's Lounge today. The burger was not cooked how it was ordered and onion rings were horrifying. When the waitress asked how thr meal was I asked her about the onion rings. She stated that the frying grease was old and that is why they looked the way thry did . They did not try to make it any better. I paid and tipped the standard 20 percent and left hungry. I kept seeing good reviews for George's so I finally gave it a shot and boy am I glad I did. Although George's is nestled away in downtown canton parking was not an issue. When we walked in the energy of this place was noticeable, there was such a wide variety of people in here enjoying delicious food, drinks and company of their friends/family. I ordered the o'nesto with cheese curds and my boyfriend ordered the gorgeous George on a pretzel bun with fries. We got our food very quick and the staff was so friendly and attentive. I still can't believe how big these burgers were. Everything was cooked perfectly and came out hot and fresh. Aside from making the best burger I've ever had I love that the kitchen is open until 2am and they have live music most nights. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone. read more

I have decided to make a George's Lounge trip a priority every time I am home. No, seriously. I love it. Such an interesting menu, ESP for someone like me that is a condiment junkie. George's is pumping out the most beautiful lists of sauces I have ever laid my eyes on. It is incredible. We each picked a dipster to try with a big basket of fries and the best was by far the spicy thai peanut (waitress recommendation)! Delish! I ordered the spicy thai chicken salad (I know, I know..with all of the delectable burger choices I went with a boring ass salad) BUT in my defense, it was amazing. Wasabi ranch was perfect with the thai chicken! Two of my homies got the John Wayne and devoured it. My other homie got the Tree Jumper and said it was one of his favorite things he had eaten! SO you get it, the food is fun and delicious and the beer selection was pretty good as well. Now let's talk about the vibe of this place. Super relaxed and carefree. SO much fun. Our waitress was amazing. She even started dancing and singing with us at one point. There was a guy playing guitar and he was outstanding. Stopped in today for lunch. Hot inside with no air conditioning. Ordered a New York dog, fries and a side salad. Waited a half hour for food to arrive and when it did the fries were cold. The table service is cheap plastic knives and forks with plastic carry out containers instead of real table service. The plastic knives couldn't even cut the hot dog. The waitress never came to ask how the food was or to even bring the check. I had to go to the bar to ask for the check. This was my 2nd visit there and it was not any better than my 1st visit. It's a dive. Looking at their reviews I wonder if I was even in the same place as they reviewed. This place is off my list for good. read more

We were heading to the Palace Theater for an event and decided to eat downtown first. George's was highly recommended by friends. They open at 5 p.m. and we were the second party in the door at 5. Lighting is very dim so we had to use our phone flashlight to see the menu. Restaurant is small and older, but charming. The waitress was quick to take our burger order so we thought we had plenty of time to eat and get to the theater. By 5:50 p.m. we still had no food, nor had the waitress been by to say it would be right out. Other patrons who had arrived after we did had appetizers, then burgers and were putting on their coats to leave before we even had food. A woman who was not our waitress finally came with our food. It was obvious that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for at least 40 minutes. The burgers were tasty; however, the fries were not very warm and they were limp. I had ordered onion rings for an upcharge of $2.99 and I got 4 onion rings. They might have been good, but they were not hot and by this time were a little soggy. The spicy maple mayo for dipping was excellent, however. The food is served in little paper boats with no utensils provided. There were plenty of napkins on the table though. Not one time during our 75 minutes in the restaurant did anyone come over to see if we needed anything, like a refill on water, etc. Our original waitress brought our bill to the table, but it was actually the bill for another table and it was twice as much as ours. We will not be returning to George's. There are plenty of other restaurants downtown. read more

I read wonderful reviews on here and wasn't sure what to expect. It was a Thursday night. It was cold out. Walked in greeted by a really cool guy behind the bar. He showed us the brew list and specials. To my surprise they had very unique brews and a mad selection of liquors. One called Ciderboys strawberry/banana tasted like a banana split without being too sweet. He gave us menus right away and explained some top foods on the menu. I ordered the best pretzel bun grass fed burger I've ever had. They have gluten free options too! The fries are out of this world. They have wild dipping sauces that I've never seen before. If you appreciate dive-bars, I would wholeheartedly recommend George's for drinks, music, and especially food. Seriously, make sure you order a burger. I come here weekly and alternate between the John Wayne, Hall of Flame, and the Blue-Ribbon burger, you cannot go wrong with those three. Also, if you are a sauce-lover like me, you **must** order a side of the Italian-herb aioli with your fries. I promise, you will not regret it, or go back to ketchup. As far as the crowd goes, you will notice hipsters and grandparents alike (the sign of a good-spot). I would encourage anyone visiting Canton to stop by George's.
