Great food and atmosphere. The outdoor area is wonderful. The wait staff are friendly attentive, especially Thomas and Anthony.

Tonight's special were ribs. Pricing was very reasonable and the ribs were fall of the bone and tasty. I chose the half slab with a baked potato. My other side had an up charge, it was a Crocked French onion soup. That was excellent with plenty of caramelized onions, and the broth had really good flavor. The baked Swiss on top went well. One of the better versions that I've had. Service from Anthony was excellent and the ambiance was very nice. I was expecting a bar atmosphere but it turned out to be a lively restaurant of thirty tables and a nice bar. This place is a winner! read more

Went in for a bit of a late lunch. This place was recommended to us. Not a bad place. Crowded for a late Saturday afternoon. Their outside patio was crowded. People having fun. Inside they have lots of TV's and it's larger than it looks. They sat us right away. Happy hour on Saturdays is till 3p so we were right in the heart of it. We got 2 coneys and the John's chips and dip. It was perfect. Not too much and just enough. The coneys were average size. They were decent. The chips were really good . Both on special so can't beat it. Our server was nice. She checked on us. They had some drink specials and other happy hour items it was good. I'd go back. No complaints. Prices good cuz we did the specials. Overall no issues. Nice find. And in the plaza with them there are tons of food choices so it's nice to find one that is good. read more

We had dinner and drinks at John's Bar. They have Happy Hour specials on beers that offer a small discount on drinks. They have a good selection of beers, particularly IPAs. The Tuesday special was the chicken pot pie and salad for $12.99. The salad was fresh and a good size. The pot pie was excellent with a nice crust and thick gravy. It had the usual vegetables perfectly cooked with chunks of chicken. We sat outside since it was a beautiful night but seating is a little limited. Atmosphere: The feel of the bar was nice. Not super loud or filled with sketchy people. Clean and comfortable. The workers seem to have a lot of fun together. I believe my server's name was Tom. I totally would have hired that guy. He was super friendly, gave honest opinions about the food when we had questions. Food: We started off with the fried pickles. They were very good. Almost like a super crispy tempura. Although, if you have teeth issues or troubles with crispy food, probably not the fried pickles for you. Tom also brought up some bread and butter as well. I asked how the French Onion soup was and he said it was "The best on the planet" so naturally, I had to try it. It was absolutely delicious. Not the best I ever had but I would definitely eat it every time I go there no doubt. My friend got the California BLT. It came out so good-looking that I had to order a a chicken sandwich too. Unfortunately, mine was SUPER soggy, which I was surprised about given the fact that I got the mayo on the side and it was grilled chicken, not fried. So I am unsure why my bottom bun was soaked. Overall: The service was amazing, food was amazing as well (minus the soggy bun which is why it was 4 stars and not 5). Somehow the fact that this place has existed right under my nose for the 19 years I've lived in the area is amazing to me. It's less than 10 minutes from my house and is the perfect local spot to eat. Not expensive at all and great service. We got here around 5p on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. The line never shortened while we ate. The wait was about 25 minutes, but it was worth it. The wedding soup was a little different than what I'm used to, but it was GOOD. The Reuben sandwich was good, but kind of small. It didn't come with fries and I had to order those separately. My wife got the Grecian chicken pita (or whatever it was called). Everything was great. First time to the new location. Stopped in at 10:30 on a Saturday morning to find out breakfast was over. Super disappointed since I was craving the Greek omelette. Companion and I decided to stay and have an early "lunch" and figured it would be pretty quick since it wasn't even 1/2 full. Seated quickly and then waited for a fairly long while for waitstaff. Finally got greeted and had menus. After another fairly long wait, we ordered. Waitress did come and apologize for how long our food was taking. Finally got our burger(served on a small dessert plate) and chicken pita. The pita was missing the tzatziki sauce and waitress was long gone before it was discovered. Waited another long time for the bill. Food was decent, service was lousy. Might come back since we LOVED the"old" John's, but I probably won't be in a hurry nor recommend. read more

The food is great. Some of the best burgers we have found in the area. However, good luck calling in an order. After about 5:45pm on Friday night they take the phone off the hook. We were told by a server it's because the kitchen decides they are too busy and can't take any more orders. We order take out because we have children but can never get through. I don't know if management is aware but they may want to consider answering the phone and at least giving people longer pickup times or adding a better system for takeout. It's unfortunate they don't seem to want the extra business. This is the second weekend this has happened and apparently is their regular practice. read more

My first time here and I had the egg rolls. Not what I was expecting very tasty and filling. My brother in law ordered stuffed peppers and again not what I was expecting to see, I think they were Anaheim which looked amazing. It's a sports bar and they're usually loud not here though I'm sure if the right game is on it could be. After attending business meetings most of week and just completing a tour of the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton I relied on the advise of one of my business associates who grew up in the area to find our group an old traditional drinking establishment to enjoy a few crafted beers and cocktails. John's turned out to be the perfect venue, we walked in just after 3:00 PM and found six open seats at the bar. The taps displayed an impressive selection of regional and locally brewed beers and the back of the bar was filled with top shelf alcohol separated only by the mirrored signage displaying the famous insignia "John's Bar & Grille" established in 1945. After spending several hours enjoying the pours and reminiscing of times gone by and better times to come this place really began to fill up reminding us all that this old fashion beer joint was really more of a restaurant to the locals and that maybe our time here was somewhat special and something that may never be repeated. The service here was good, not overly attentive but certainly adequate allowing our group the space we needed. They recently moved to North Canton over on Easton and last night my dad was in town and loves their ribs, so we went. I have to admit, I miss the old place! The new location is a little smaller, but way louder. The place was packed and you could barely hold a conversation at your table. Everything moved a little slower, but everyone is short staffed so its not a problem. We ordered our usual. The normally fall off the bone ribs were not quite fall off the bone. My medium steak was beyond well done. It wasn't the best meal. Also we ordered coffee and it was definitely left over from the morning. Now, will I never go back? Absolutely not. food was alright - service a little lacking it was packed when we walked in (always a good sign right?) & the wait wasn't terrible. if it's raining though, there's little space to wait inside i ordered the clam chowder, calamari& apple/walnut salad. my friends ordered the clam chowder, side salad & Ruben sammy. our food arrived at the table staggered which ended up making eating together a little difficult. i wish the staff would do a better job timing the dishes to arrive together food was alright. chowder was a little grainy, but thick & filling. salad wasn't quite as crisp as i was hoping - some of the leaves were wilty. but the dressing was good & the walnuts were huge our server was tough to find & there didn't seem to be enough staff but it's an easy weeknight place hang with friends, enjoy a drink & chat about life. read more

John's Bar is a Canton classic. I have fond memories of coming here with my family over the years, but our most recent visit left a great deal to be desired. I was with a party of eleven and we had a reservation. The table was ready when we arrived, but things went downhill from there. It appeared our server was stretched too thin as she rushed between tables. She was forgetful about things we ordered and while I'm hesitant to place blame, I would hope that a server in her position could express to a manager that they need help to cover their assigned section rather than letting the customers' experience falter. It took an unusually long amount of time to get our food. When we did get it, my brother's steak was very obviously over cooked. He pointed it out, and it was taken back to the kitchen. When it was brought back out the second time, it was very obviously undercooked. He kept it because everyone else was done eating, but was disappointed in the service. I ordered a pork chop, which was also overcooked. I didn't send it back because I was hungry after a long day of travel. My nephew's steak was overdone as well. He requested steak sauce, which the server acknowledged but never brought. After waiting too long for it, my brother got up from the table and found another staff member to get the steak sauce. Overall, this was disappointing. We were there to celebrate as a family, but the service issues and inattentiveness made it difficult to feel celebratory. They took 1/2 off my brother's steak on the final bill, which seemed like a meager gesture after the myriad of food and service issues. We may be back, but certainly not with a group of this size again since they clearly can't manage it. read more
