I was staying in town on business and a girl at the hotel suggested I go to George's for a strawberry biscuit. Ok, this sounds delicious--where do I sign up? I make my way a few miles down the street and realize it is a fried chicken establishment. -2 stars, I hate fried chicken. I'm optimistic. I walk in and place my order for a strawberry biscuit only and pray that it doesn't come out tasting like fried chicken grease. The nice lady at the counter takes my order and in a moment, it's ready. I take it out to my car to enjoy what was promised to be the BEST sweet in New Albany for miles. The first bite--ok, ice cream and strawberry goo. It's good--not fabulous--but meeting my sweet tooth in the middle. The second bite--ice cream, strawberry goo, and part of the biscuit--the love affair just STOPPED! I'm chewing this and as I swallow, I feel this "stuff" plastered to the roof of my mouth that will not go away. It's grease that has been chilled by the ice cream; now sitting on top of my mouth. I swallow, hoping it goes away. It doesn't. So, I do the next best thing and take a napkin to remove it. -1 star I ate a couple more bites of just the strawberry goo and ice cream and gave the remainder to my date. He loved it. I guess my love affair with the bakery is just stronger than ice cream, strawberry goo, and a biscuit! read more

I like how fresh the food is, they stay busy, which is a good thing but also makes it a long wait. I always have to take the food home and season it myself because they use literally not one seasoning...so on the upside if you have allergies it's a safe bet lol other than lack of flavor I have no real complaints read more

Driving thru to Tupelo from Memphis, and being from up North, there is something to be said for George's fried chicken. It was perfect, as you would expect from down South. And we got the burgers also, and they were really good too, juicy, no bad stuff, cooked to just past medium. The buiscuts are served w very good honey, my grandpa was a beekeeper and the honey tasted a little dark like his. The service was fast, took 5 minutes to get my order,it was correct and the staff were all so friendly. This is the perfect stop like the 2nd exit into New Albany and like a mile off the highway. read more

Stopped here today while traveling. Per other's recommendations, I got a piece of spicy fried chicken and the strawberry biscuit. I only got one piece of chicken, the breast. It was very spicy indeed! I loved the flavor. It was moist, with a nice crisp outside. I looked on the menu when ordering at the strawberry biscuit, surprised by the price. I understood when I realized it was really dessert! Very yummy!!! My daughter ordered a salad with grilled chicken. She said it was also good. The previous reviewer said not to expect friendly service, but we had very friendly service even considering it was during the Sunday after church rush! I would stop here again! read more

My favorite place to get fried chicken and burgers! My boyfriend and I always get the large fries and spilt them because they come in a big box and we still have some left over. Excellent fried chicken. 2 of us had the spicey and 1 the "regular". We'll have to try a burger sometime. The servers at the counter weren't the friendliest of servers but they weren't rude, either. Just there taking my order. Had they stepped up the effort there it would have been a 5/5. Given the line of cars wrapping around the building and the full house at 6p it doesn't appear they feel the need to change much. The food does the talking for them. George's is an experience. It's a little bit gritty inside, nothing fancy. You order at the counter - I recommend a #2, spicy, dark meat. You get a breast and a drumstick, coleslaw, mashed potatoes and a biscuit for about $8. Grab and seat and they'll call your number in less than ten minutes. Make sure you have hot sauce and honey to drizzle over your chicken before sinking be your teeth into it. Grab a milkshake for dessert - they have some unique flavors. The strawberry biscuit is a must! I met a guy from Tupelo at George's who said he drives from Tupelo to get a strawberry biscuit from time to time. So I got one too and have been hooked ever since. George's homemade biscuits are incredible and topped with ice cream and strawberry jelly with real strawberries. The chicken is unique and perfect too. Honey on each table temps you to try honey on your chicken. The chicken decor is cool too. The only thing I would change is the cup sizes. Their large is not big enough for me. Chicken was a tad bit too greasy. Honey tasted horrible. Biscuits where hard and cold. Coleslaw was good. Great fries. Excellent help when ordering. All and all it was ok just don't eat the honey! Two people for dinner was $20.00. Not bad. read more

George's is a staple in New Albany. The chicken and burgers are great, and so are the milkshakes. My favorite is the chicken nugget meal and a strawberry biscuit. It's enough food to share but at a great price. And you just can't beat George. Be careful when it gets close to closing time though, occasionally the food suffers. read more

We have stopped by here twice within the last month. Both times we have stopped most of the tables were dirty and there were a bunch of kids that seemed to be working there. Seemed to be working is the key word. Sure they took orders, filled them but when there were no cusomters all I saw them doing was eating in the food prep area. They were eating chips, candy and it looked like biscuits in the food prep area. The first time we stopped, there were so many flies in the dining room that we had to swat at them to keep them off our food. They have an A Rating form hanging by the cash register but I don't see how. Don't think I will be stopping by here again. read more
