As soon as we walked in we were welcomed and greeted with "have you been here before?" Being from out of town we said no and he said "do you want to try the whole line of beer?" Um yes please. We had three different bar tenders catering to our sampling and explaining what beer we were tasting and more information about it. We had no idea the beer sampling was free until we bought our growler! I had to ask for smaller samples by the end because we were being given so much free beer! We stopped by here based on a local's recommendation and were not disappointed. They do not sell pints of beers (only 6 packs or growlers), but they do free tastings. The first bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about beer. He started our tastings and we were helped by 4 - 5 other people who were just as friendly and engaging. There are few places where I can say everyone I interacted with was friendly, but this is one of them. The beer is outstanding with multiple IPA options. I was a huge fan of Johnny Utah and recommend it to Citra hop lovers. Find a way to get here when in Seattle. read more

It's hard as hell to find; no signs on the street, entrance off a loading dock in the back of a dilapidated old factory, and doorway that's clearly marked only if you get out of your car and walk right up to it. The parking lot is treacherous and rutted, the place looks like a health department citation waiting to happen, and the staff sometimes seems terribly distracted. None of that makes a damned bit of difference. Georgetown Brewing is just simply making GREAT - let me repeat that: G-R-E-A-T - ales. GREAT. I would gladly assemble a blind tasting of the best of the local Porters - Mac & Jack's Black Cat, Snoqualmie's Steam Train, Big Al's Smoked, Big Time's Coal Creek, Elysian's Perseus, Maritime Pacific's Bosun's Black, etc.- and let everybody I know evaluate them. I'd bet on the results. And the sucker bet would be that at LEAST 60% of them would name Georgetown's Nine Pound their favorite. I had it first in a restaurant down in Belltown and was so swept away by it that I drove down from Bellevue the next morning, EARLY, (because it was Saturday and, for whatever bizarre reason, they close at NOON on Saturday) just to bring back a growler of it. Their Manny's, I firmly believe, would be the winner in any poll of local beer lovers for their favorite Pale Ale. It just has everything you want in a great Pale: crisp, spicy, assertive hops, a judicious underpinning of Two-row Pale, Crystal, and Cara-Pilsner Malts, golden color, fresh and vibrant aroma, and a complex, bursting palate of citrus, fig, and melon. The Roger's Pilsner is so hands-down superior to most pilsners made here (and there aren't a ton of 'em) that we're barely talking about the same style of beer. The Roger's is deep and substantial, but light and refreshing at the same time; the best argument for the style you could make to some guy like me who thinks pilsners are mostly wimpy wastes of good malt and hops. And their Chopper Red is stunning; the only other Red made in this area that even comes close is the Maritime Pacific Flagship. My favorite reds are almost all from out of state: Lagunitas "Censored", "Ruderich's Red Seal" from North Coast, Bear Republic "Rocket Red", Calapooia "Flood Stage", and Green Flash "HopHead Red". But Chopper has what all those have in common - BIG bold flavors, a whole rack of spiciness, brilliant hops, and satiny finish. In terms of local breweries, despite a relatively short roster of available brews, Georgetown is, IMHO, clearly one of the two best breweries in this area, matched only by Mac & Jack's for sheer flavor, consistency and value. read more

We served Manny's Pale Ale and Roger's Pilsner at our wedding this year and everyone loved it, even one of my buddies who doesn't like beer..... until now. Georgetown Brewing is a simple place. They usually have five beers available in growlers and sometimes have something seasonal as well. All the beers are available for tasting from taps, but they don't serve full pints or food. Their beers are all top-notch in quality--and the seasonal beers are remarkable, so get one whenever they are available. Georgetown's growler system is THE BEST I've encountered. The growlers are filled by a machine, so the beer stays carbonated and fresh for over a week if you don't open it. Once you've purchased your growler, you just bring it back (rinsed out) and they give you a newly filled one that has been stored in the refrigerator. They also sell kegs. The staff is always friendly, and the prices are exceptionally low--especially when considering the quality of the beer. They also have a small section of t-shirts and souvenirs. read more

George town is the best brewery in Seattle hands down. Free beer tasting, the staff is awesome, they are so happy and friendly (which we all kinda think is suspicious because it's seattle) We come at least once a month, we bring the kids and they are able to run around and they always get a lollipop. On my most recent trip to Seattle, I left SeaTac airport and headed straight to the tasting room, and I'm glad that I did. I spent an hour tasting about 12 - 16 different types of ales - all of them amazing. And when I went to pay for the tastings, they told me that there was no charge. I couldn't leave without buying something, so I bought a very tasty bourbon-flavored beer 22 oz. - Tombourbon, I think - for only $10. I couldn't believe it. And there were no tip cups. This place is wonderful. I went here with a friend midweek, midday and although they do not have an area to sit and order a pint they have an area to stand and drink for free (sampling all their beers on tap) which is probably better. Once you decide which you like definitely take home a 22 oz, growler, keg, etc... They also have some merchandise there. The beers themselves are all pretty fantastic being great versions of their styles. I have been shying away from IPAs since moving to the NW because they are pretty over the top although the Eddie was real nice. The Donkey Deux (Dubbel style) was probably my favorite of the day even though I don't like Belgians! I will definitely come back, great place to bring your old growler in and walk home with a new one and with crazy friendly staff. read more

As far as beer goes Georgetown is pretty solid. Their flagship Mannys is okay but I perfer a lot of their other beers more. This is totally no frills offering not pints like many tasting rooms of today but just tastes and growler fills and keg orders. It gets the job down and nothing more. read more

Manny's was my gateway to craft beer way back in the day, but Georgetown also has several other great beers. I've lived all over the country and tried a ton of IPAs and it doesn't get better than Lucille. This is a cool tasting room with very fair prices on growlers (pre-filled for a perfect seal), and free samples if you're buying. Definitely recommended. read more

The Georgetown Porter is one of the most delicious beers I've ever had. The after taste just leaves you craving more and more. It's a rich dark beer that is so easy to drink. Another great one is Manny's. It is definitely one of the better pale ales in the northwest. read more
