I just got my car an hour ago. I found this place on yelp and after reading some review I decided to call the place and see what do they offer! After talking on the phone with Wally, I decided to take my car for an estimate. He patiently explained everything. When, I saw the pricing on the board, I was little bit skeptical but considering my car situation I pushed my self to do it. My car never had been detailed since I got it from the company more than 10 years ago. I decided to go with the Gold options. I left the car there and when I came back today to pick it up, I couldn't recognize it. It looks like a brand new car. Oh my god!!!! Wally did a fantastic job. I can't be happier with the result. Good place. Excellent customer service. Wally(sp?) was super helpful, almost to a fault. It seemed VERY important to him that I be fully satisfied with the service, which I was. Hence this review. As others have mentioned, it's a bit pricey - I got the Gold Interior package for $189, and while the work was excellent, wow, that's a lot for vacuuming, shampooing, and wiping down. That said, they are very thorough (it took over three hours to complete the service), so I suppose you get what you pay for. You should definitely buy the $95 coupon (worth $125) available through Yelp before going; it will save you $30 on whatever service you order (assuming you spend at least $125 in the first place). The place could be difficult to find for the uninitiated, as others have mentioned. If you're coming up Wisconsin Ave (traveling north, up from M St), you'll need to turn right into the driveway that appears to be the driveway for Ipsa Salon. Detailz's cleaning bays are in the back, behind the street-facing buildings. Coming down Wisconsin Ave, you'll of course turn left just after Ipsa Salon. It's located just north of Q St, as another frame of reference. See the photos I posted for a visual of the entrance. Overall, good place. Great customer service and good outcome. Just pricey. Also a word of advice. if you have fabric seats and plan on driving away right after completing a detailed interior cleaning, be prepared for the seat to be somewhat moist. Wally and his guys did the best they could to dry it with a blower and it felt dry to the touch, but after sitting on it for 10 minutes, it did make my pants and shirt a bit wet. Nothing they could do; just a byproduct of the cleaning. Your options are to pick it up later in the day after the seats are fully dry or perhaps bring a cloth (preferably non-absorbent) to sit on if you need the car immediately. I doubt this would affect leather seats, as I'm sure they'd dry much more quickly, but just be forewarned. read more

These guys crushed it! I'm an idiot and took a scraper to my car during an ice storm. The result was scratches all over the body of my car. Thankfully these guys came to the rescue and were able to buff them all out. Highly recommend them for any detail job, large or small. Incredibly happy with my car after it was detailed at Detailz. My car's about ten years old and wasn't in TERRIBLE shape but it needed a little professional help. They exceeded all my expectations. AMAZING service. Visit and ask for Wally. I first found Detailz when I had the unfortunate experience of backing my car into a pole in my parking garage at work (it appeared out of nowhere, I swear). Luckily, no cracks or dents, but it did scrape some paint off my driver's side rear quarter panel and the metal was showing. It was a starting to snow and I park on the street at home, so I was afraid it would rust. I called Detailz and Wally told me he was leaving in an hour but he would wait for me to swing by. I came by and Wally buffed out a lot of the damage (seriously, it looked 80% better after him just buffing out the scrape) and then helped me apply some clear nail polish over the metal while I waited for my touch-up paint to come in. Once my touch-up paint arrived, I swung back by Detailz and Wally taught me how to apply my own touch-up paint at no charge! I feel like I have a truly usable life skill! Thanks for being a stand-up guy, Wally, and going above and beyond!! (Pro tip: You don't paint it on. You kind of set it where it needs to go and let it expand to fill the space. Use as small a brush as you can and remember less is more!) A few months later, I brought my car back again for a gold detail on the outside. I take super good care of the inside and it's kind of delicate (Prius with easily-scratchable plant based plastics), so I only trust myself on the interior. Wally spent about four hours on the outside of my car and, I swear, when I got it back it looked better than the day I bought it. I couldn't stop touching the exterior because the paint was so smooth. It was beautiful and I was thrilled. I have since moved across country, but I recommend Detailz to anyone I know in the DC area with a car. The service is well worth the price and Wally is amazing. The care and pride he takes in his work is exemplary, and he's a really, really nice guy to boot. Go see him, and tell him Sarah with the Prius sent you. Although I moved out to DC in mid-January, my little red Mini Cooper arrived a week and a half after me. It limped off the back of a very industrial-looking car transporter and looked like it had been through a hurricane, 3 mud baths, a tar swamp, and a snow storm. It may not have clocked the 3,000 or so miles itself, but it sure looked like it had been driven across the country! So I get my totally hideous car only to discover that apparently people don't have car washes in DC. Really?! Not a single decent car wash? I guess it was all for the best, considering an average car wash probably couldn't tackle the crap shellacked on my car. Desperate, I found Detailz on Yelp. Not only did they take my car the same day, but the guy who cleaned it was friendly and helpful. He recommended a full detail because apparently my car's paint is in horrible shape (and I love my car, people). My stupid dealership in SF kept telling me that whatever was happening to the paint was inevitable since I parked outside, however the guy at Detailz quickly showed me that the surface could be cleaned easily using a polish and wax. Thanks BMW/MINI of San Francisco! I felt like a total fool. I would say the price is a downside, but considering how intimate this service is (it kind of feels like you're dropping your car off in someone's home garage), I'm not going to complain. My car looked insanely better than it did when it arrived in DC and now my conscience is clear. Phew... no more dirty car to worry about. The location is hard to find, so I thought I'd mention that it's on the right side of Wisconsin (coming up Wisconsin) between "The Dog Shop" and some salon. There is no sign... only a driveway. However considering there aren't many driveways along that side of the street, it's pretty easy to look out for. Wow! So I drive your standard Honda civic (no frills here) but after 4 years of abuse this car needed to be cleaned. I went to the website based on reviews. The prices were a bit steep so I signed up for their mailing list. Literally the next day they sent an email out that they were offering 1/2 price on their 'like new' detailing. Clearly I could not pass this up. It took them 5 hours and holy crap my car looked like the day I bought it brand spanking new. I realize this is in no way a necessity but it definitely makes me happy to get into a nice clean car every morning. I will also be bringing the boy's car there which will be no small job for them. Heard about the superior service here so decided to check it out. Wally greeted me and Tod me my options. Given my car hadn't been cleaned for a year, I went for the mid-priced deal $269 with a $30 discount at check out. I got over the sticker shock and told him I wanted the car lo look fresh off the lot clean. They delivered to my liking and on the hottest day of the year(98 degrees) to boot. I would have given them five stars but for what i paid, i expected spic n span interior/exterior upon delivery. Instead, I had to point out a a huge dirty spot covered by a mat, several scuff marks and a greasy film at the base of the driver's side doors. To their credit, they got right on it and cleaned everything thoroughly. What I held back in stars I gave in a generous tip, given the brutal heat these guys were working in. read more

Great job these guys did! Well worth the money! Option one: go to your regular car wash, pay $20, pick up somewhat clean car that was run through the mechanic wash and lightly dusted inside. See that bug smudged on your window? Yeah, still there. Option two: pay $79 for the basic interior/exterior wash and leave this place with a brand new shinning car. After a recent trip to the Outer Banks my car was full of everything: sand, grass, sun screen smudges, and wonderful fishy odor from all the seafood we consumed while out there (mmm, Old Bay seasoning). I dropped the car on Sunday morning - thanks to the guys who were so accommodating - and picked it up 1.5 hours later spotless. Absolutely worth the price and all the headache they saved me trying to figure out how to get rid of the odor. Loved the customer service as well! But I do agree it can be somewhat hard to find them - check out the pictures to know where to turn! PS they have a facebook special promotion on their web-site that will save you $25. read more

I parked in a garage where the level above my car was wet, and the water filtered through the cement, dripping "watery cement" all over my car (hood, windows, roof...everything). It was terrible-- I couldn't get the stuff off unless I scratched it with my ice scraper. I went to Detailz after hearing about their work from my roommate, who took her car there after it was stolen (another story, but it was recovered and then left outside in the summer heat in the evidence parking lot for 6 months. The perp left it full of to-go boxes filled with chicken wings, leftover burgers, etc.). Her car looked (and smelled) as good as new after her visit, so I figured I'd give Detailz a shot, too. 5 hours later, my car looks as good as new, too. I don't even know how one gets "cement water" off of a car, but they did it. Not even a tiny bit of it left. They also shampooed my mats and were able to get all sorts of old stains out of the carpet. The price was steep but I was happy to pay it. You definitely get what you pay for at Detailz. This place is AWESOME!!! We took advantage of a winter special they had running to get exterior details for both our cars. I called to get some more "detailz"s and spoke with a gentleman named Wally...he was very helpful and got us set up with an appointment that Saturday. I did decide to go with this place primarily because of all the great yelp reviews it gets. We are in Alexandria, so its not that far, but after reading the reviews I could tell this place may be a little hard to find. Detailz is right off M Street & Wisconsin, so you know the area is swarming with pedestrians and will always be very congested. After dropping off the vehicles we walked around G-town for a bit and within about 3 hours got a call that the cars were ready to pick up. The cars looked brand new and the polish felt great. I was very impressed with their work and their ability to do both of our cars at the same time (very convenient for us). We will definitely be coming back here in another 6 months or so! read more

Simply amazing. My daughter had covered the interior windows with loads of stickers. Add melted crayons and remnants of various snacks and you can understand how disgustingly dirty my car was. After learning that out-of-town clients were coming for a meeting in Potomac I acknowledged that my car was in desperate need of a deep clean. I spoke with Mike on Monday; clients were due today (Wednesday ). He was able to fit me in the next morning. Val met me Tuesday morning @ 9. I had been warned by Mike that it likely would take all day to do the interior of my car. Val called me just after 3 to say it was done. Words cannot do justice to how amazing my car looks now. I brought my car over for a bronze detail and I'm very happy. Several months ago another detailer applied a ceramic sealant to the car. The sealant is designed to keep the car clean and glossy. However, my car hadn't been cleaned in roughly two months so it was a bit dusty and grimy. After my car was detailed at Detailz it looked as good as it did the day I picked it up after the high-gloss sealant was applied. I brought my own detailing spray (manufactured by the sealant manufacturer) and they were nice enough to apply it to the car. The car looks brand new again. Although they're a very short distance from my home I would definitely drive a distance to have my car cleaned by Detailz. read more

This gentleman made me money. I was selling my car and had some folks look at it and make offers before I could get it to Detailz for the cleaning of 8 yrs of grit and grime from the crevices and corners beyond the rudimentary work a good car wash can perform. Not only was the car cleaner than when I bought it, but many scratches and scuffs inside and out were simply gone. The difference in the offers on my car before and after the detail exceeded the cost of the work, and in fact I sold it for more than I expected and more than I could have prior to the detail. Ridiculous, or ridoncushrek, as we say around these parts. Be advised that the entrance is a single lane driveway that kind of sneaks up on you but it is findable and more than worth it. read more

I've been twice. The first time I took advantage of the Yelp discount. As far as the quality of their work... very good. I can't complain. Best cleaning I've had for my car. What more can I say? As some others have said, its the closest my car has been to new since I bought it :-). And the customer service is very good as well. Always very friendly when I drop off and pick up my car. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the price. Its not cheap but its tough to blame Detailz for that. The Georgetown location's rent has got to be very pricey. I notice on their website they're looking to expand to another location. I hope they find a cheaper location and I hope their prices reflect that. *I will start by saying that I don't have a point of comparison for DC because this is the first time I've gotten my car cleaned & washed here.* With that, I'm definitely coming back. I only wish the prices were a little less since I'm on a student budget, but I get why they charge what they do. You've gotta feel comfortable when you drive up and they're in the middle of washing and cleaning a Maserati and a BMW. The guy answering the phone that day was awesome and really helpful. I missed my appointment and they were awesome enough to work me in later that day. When I couldn't find the place, I called them up and they guided me there. Then, they quoted me a time and were ready exactly when they said they'd be. I walked down the street and found a coffee shop to do some work in the meantime. Even though they don't really have an area where you can wait, they're located in a nice area that makes it easy to walk around (and shop or eat) while you wait. When I picked up my car, it was super-clean inside and out. The worst part is that now I can see all the scratches and dings I have on my car since moving to DC! Ha! read more

I went to Detailz because it had great Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. I have a Toyota Highlander that was looking a little (ok a lot) beat up. I called and got an appointment the next day, they even let me come in early to drop off the car and pick it up late. It's right on Wisconsin, so there are lots of buses and cabs if you have to go somewhere (eg - work.) My car now looks amazing and smells new. They took out some paint scratches on my bumper as well. After a run of disappointing auto detailing stores, with high prices but a complete lack of service or attention, I had set the bar so low that almost anyone could cross it. Not anymore. Consider the bar reset. Consider the bar RAISED. Finding the Detailz shop can be a little tricky. It's located in a detached garage right behind two businesses off Wisconsin Avenue, and the driveway doesn't have a sign to tell you where you are going. When I pulled up, I was caught a little off guard by the small shop with the two bays. The walk over of my car, however, started to change my mind. As the very attentive employee walked around my car, I pointed out all the problems (tree sap on the exterior, and coffee stains between the seats) and they caught a few I hadn't noticed (like tree sap on plastic inserts around the windshield, and over-sprayed paint on one quarter panel). None seemed to phase them in the slightest, even when I asked if there would be an additional cost for any of the work. No, it was all covered. On returning, I was simply floored. My 10 year old car, with several issues, looked brand new. Sap, gone. Paint droplets, gone. And the interior was spotless. No dust, no crumbs, no dirt anywhere. Coffee stains? Gone. And when they apologized for removing the plastic inserts in the cup-holders so they could clean underneath them (which they had to re-glue), I almost fell over. (Really? You are apologizing for cleaning UNDER something most people would have ignored?) That is attention to detail, and it completely shows. I had my Acura RSX Type S detailed here to get it ready to sell. It had some minor scratches, and after spending the first part of spring in Atlanta and the latter part here in DC, the car had quite a lot of pollen build-up (especially in the nooks and crannies). When the guys at Detailz were done with it, it was sparkling clean and the scratches are pretty much gone. It looks so good I'm now having second thoughts about selling it! They finished the detail in an afternoon and the staff was friendly enough. FYI: the place is easy to miss--it's located in an alleyway next to a little coffee shop. I took off one star because they charged me almost $50 more than the $289 listed on their website for the full detail. My car was in pretty rough shape so I anticipated that it would be more than the "starting from" price, but it would have been nice if they could have given me some kind of heads up when I dropped the car off and showed them the problem areas. I brought my vehicle here in a truly sorry state; I mean, I was embarrassed at how disgusting it was. They worked a miracle on my car in less than 24 hours (I had to drive clients around the following day and they squeezed me in.) They were accommodating with my schedule and did a truly fantastic job - every nook and cranny was impossibly clean. After reading reviews on here, I decided this would be the best bet for a recently purchased luxury used car (whose interior was kinda beat up and dirty). I made an appointment, dropped the car off at 12 and received a call when it was complete (shortly before close time). The gold package was worth every penny. The interior was nearly immaculate and had that freshly oiled look (without being greasy) on the trim and vinyl seats. They weren't joking about cleaning "every nook and cranny." The exterior, as expected, was perfectly polished; tires had that new 'wet' look to them. They even removed the dealer stickers from the rear without charging extra (by request). Got the Gold Interior option for $189. My car was super dirty inside and needed a thorough scrubbing. I've had the car for a few years and it was previously with other owners. Let's just say they didn't keep it very clean. For $189 ($90 for $125 Yelp Deal), the guys at Detailz did an amazing job. I was pleased with the attention to detail. Everything was done and the interior looked brand new. I was able to drop my car off early in the morning before they were opened at 7:30am, and pick it up when they closed at 6pm. They were patient and gave me my honest opinion about what option I should choose. The detail is expensive compared to other options but these guys do a great job. Two weeks ago I bought a 2001 E320 4matic Mercedes Benz from Drive European in Falls Church and took it to Detailz Fine Auto Cleaning for paint and trim work on the recommendation of a close friend. The black paint had a lot of tiny white marks (paint chip damage) on the hood, front end and fenders. Typical for an 18 year old car. Also the wheels and some trim were in need of clean up - the interior is pretty much perfect. Wally delivered what looked like a brand new car after 4 hours of work - I was totally blown away. Most of the chips were buffed out and the car gleamed. So pleased with the work. I was recently driving up Connecticut Avenue when a tire came off a car coming the opposite direction and struck my vehicle. It left a huge black mark that ran the entire length of my driver side door. To add to the problem I have a white car. I took my car to Detailz and they told me it shouldn't be a problem to remove the mark. I chose to have my entire exterior done. When I picked up the car it looked fantastic! I was thrilled and very pleased with the product. Then there was the customer service. The person I talked to was polite and friendly. I could not bring my car in during the day and they told me I could leave it at night and it would be ready the next morning. I went in at 8:30am the following morning and the car was ready to go. Beyond pleasantly surprised...This place is wonderful... The situation was this - I sold my car to a private party and needed to have it detailed so it would be as "new-to-you" as possible despite the fact that it was used. I, of course, knew that I needed to make an appointment somewhere, but time got away and well, it was the morning of delivery and the car, while not filthy, wasn't as new-ish as I wanted it to be... So, I logged into my always trusty Yelp mobile app and started searching... What I found was the usual selection of pluses and minuses...but then, I saw Detailz...right down the road on my way out of town... So, I snapped up the phone and gave them a call. Honestly, I had no expectation that I would be able to get the car done and was resigned to spending the morning vacuuming and Clorox-wiping away the previous 5 years of Prius ownership when, as soon as the phone was answered, I suddenly had no more worries in the world. The guys at Detailz made room for my car, fitting it in among other cars and having me ready and headed down the road on time to meet my buyer with a car whose condition far exceeded anything I would have expected. In under an hour they had washed the outside, cleaned, vacuumed, and wiped the dash and insides, and left my soon-to-be former ride smelling powdery fresh and feeling shiny. Tucked secretly back into a corner of Wisconsin boulevard NW, you'll find this gem. It is located around Q St, but - like me - you'll likely have to call and find out exactly where. Premier detail work at Detailz, yes sir! I purchased the Yelp Deal in October and I'll admit with my loving doggy and drive-n-eat habit the interior of my Lexus had seen better days. After 3 hours at Detailz, the good times were rolling again because my car looked brand new. So new in fact that my first passenger asked me had I gotten a new car (I mean really, a new car? But yes that's what he thought)! Making the appointment at Detailz was easy - just make sure if you need your vehicle back at a certain that you let them know and ask for the first appointment. Also if you want very friendly service this is not the place. When he first meets you he's tough and may try to add more to the listed price if he thinks your car needs extra work (and I was already purchasing the most expensive package). When it's all said in done - the folks are relatively fair (just be firm and prepared for a possible cash negotiation). You'll definitely be pleased with the way your car looks, but hold the line and pay the listed price! I'll definitely return. read more

What an awesome job they did on getting our minivan cleaned. Honestly, it had been over a year and it was awful when they started and gleaming when they finished. We did a gold interior/bronze exterior for our 10 year old Sienna. The outside looks as new as possible and the inside is soooo much better. We got the coupon on yelp, but opted to use credit to pay. This place is awesome! To celebrate paying off my Toyota Corolla, I decided to get a full detailing. The car was filthy after snow/salt, several scratches and paint from a stupid parking garage pole, and a 7-layer dip leakage in the front seat. To put it lightly, cleaning this car would be a challenge -- and the Detailz guys stepped up! I joined the mailing list, and when I saw an offer for the complete detailing for 40% off, I jumped on it. But it would have been a great deal even at full price in my opinion... They spent more than 5 hours on my car, and it looked absolutely beautiful when I picked it up. It was shiny, smooth, the inside was immaculate... they even vacuumed and cleaned my trunk full o' junk. They managed to get a lot of the scratches looking better, and put a nice finish on the car.
