This is a pretty well-run detailing business, and small which I'd guess allows them to give good estimates about when your car will be finished. I called them up and the phone was quickly answered by someone who ably answered all my questions and then scheduled me for a visit. The person on the phone gave me detailed instructions about where I should find the driveway for the location but I still drove by it once before I found it because it's difficult to see. I actually didn't make my first appointment and Detailz did not hit me with their 'missed visit' charge which I would have deserved, so that was nice. I've been bringing my cars here over the last several years... they're service is GREAT. Yes, prices are a little bit of a shock, but when you pick up your car, you realize that it is completely worth it. And you can mix and match their services so you are paying for exactly what you want. I called on a Sunday and got an appointment the next day. I had cleaned out my vehicle prior to dropping it off, and when I picked it up, they informed they found $20 in the car and left in the cup holder for me! I had no idea I had left behind a $20. By far, this is the best auto detailing place I have ever encountered in my life. It is really something to behold. I have never seen such attentive service before. The task was seemingly simple enough: I wanted the interior of my car cleaned. I have had the car for several years now, and it has seen a couple of spills and its share of foot traffic in that timeframe. I have had it cleaned before at car washes offering interior cleaning services, but those efforts were largely cosmetic, a quick vacuum and smearing of the windows really. Cleaning the car myself, I could keep it pretty neat. What they do at Detailz is a whole different ball game. They will take your car and return it to the brand new condition in which you bought it, or come as close as humanly possible -- a goal that far exceeds my abilities. Seriously, after a morning of cleaning, when I saw my car, it looked brand new inside. The mats were perfect, all of the upholstery was perfectly clean and smelled beautiful. Every nook and cranny of the dashboard and consoles, was completely dust free. Honestly, I could not find a single speck of dust anywhere in the car. It was basically clean room like conditions. No matter how much I cleaned my car, it never looked this good at any time in its life. I was dumbfounded. Better than that though, was the walk-through. I was shown what was done. Every stain was pointed out, including some that were beyond the help of cleaning, sadly. The service was so gracious, professional, and especially attentive to detail. They really exceed expectations here, largely because they just love restoring cars here. They have that passion, and it really shows through in their work. This is as good as it gets. Spectacular job on my car. If you want an idea how you can trust them with your car, I lost a 20 dollar bill about a week before I brought my car in to Detailz. I thought I dropped it accidentally in a parking lot or something, and was pretty upset about randomly losing a 20 dollar bill. Well, I bring my car in to these guys to get it detailed and when I pick up my car, I find my lost 20 dollar bill resting on the console! They found it when they were cleaning and instead of pocketing it (which I would have never found about), they left it in my car. So, these are trustworthy people! read more

I decided to treat my 15 year old Honda to a detailing because it was looking positively mangy, with its paint visibly deteriorating in several places. In the past, I'd sometimes tried to protect the car's exterior by purchasing a deluxe package with a few shots of wax or sealant at the carwash, but that did almost no good. I visited Detailz on a Saturday morning and spoke to Wally. (I'd previously received instructions on how to find them. That's important because Detailz is not visible from the street, and you enter by pulling into what initially looks like a hair salon's parking lot.) Surveying the car's exterior, I asked Wally if a detailing would do much good or if a paint job was the only sensible option. Wally patiently listened to my questions and carefully went over the car with me. He then responded that he could not restore the car's exterior to looking like new, but he could make it look much better. He added that the detailing would help protect against the elements, which is critical because I only have outdoor parking. I decided to go ahead with the Gold Exterior Package. Wally offered to fit me in later that day, but Detailz is open on Sunday and a time slot was available then that better fit my schedule. Those weekend hours are convenient for customers. I returned at 10 AM on Sunday and was told (as I had been the day before) that the work would take 3 to 3.5 hours. That time estimate proved accurate. When I returned, Wally was carefully applying the finishing touches. My first impression was...Wow, the car looks nice! As I'd been warned, the car doesn't look like new and Wally even pointed out a few places where he could only do so much. Still, the improvement is immense. One issue I'd forgotten to mention was that one of the headlights was looking hazy. A year or so earlier, I'd asked a car dealership about the headlight and got the impression it would be costly to fix. In fact, Detailz did fix it; the haze is gone. In the week since then, I've looked at my Honda a number of times in the apartment building parking lot, compared it to the other cars there, and continue to be pleased. Yesterday, it rained and the water drops on the car beaded up, which is what you want. Overall, Detailz provides something that is very rare these days... first-class service (courteous, attentive, thorough, and skilled). It's expensive compared to a carwash but, for me, it was well worth the money. My only regret is that I didn't go there sooner. read more

Update to Review: The same day I posted the review below, I received an email through Yelp from the owner of Detailz offering to make it right. We spoke that day and set up an appointment to have our car redone. I am very impressed that the owner would have such dedication to taking care of customers, talk about great one-to-one marketing. So, I brought our SUV back in for another detail and they worked on it until after 9pm at night to get it just right (after I was late getting it to them that morning). So, two thumbs up to Detailz for really actually caring that customers are happy and detailing our car so carefully. The dog hair has been removed to the best of their abilities and the rest of the car in and out looks great. On service alone, these guys deserve five stars. Original Review: I am not sure why I have waited to write this review, I used this company several months ago. I chose to use this company after reading their reviews here on Yelp. I have a Saturn VUE, a small/midsize SUV and we have a dog with short hair. Our car was in need of a detail, we usually have it done twice a year. The greatest need was getting all of the little hairs that stick in the rear upholstery of the car removed. In addition, I wanted the dash, and the rest of the interior like new. The gentleman was very friendly and I was able to drop off before work and pick up after without a problem. When I picked it up, the exterior looked great. The inside seemed very clean, lots of "slick" product, but clean, and he had me inspect the back to see if they had vacuumed enough. As it was getting dark, when I looked it seemed fine. The next morning, in broad daylight, I checked again and found that the back of the back seat was still covered in hair and there was hair in the rear ceiling. I tried reaching them twice, with no luck, and finally just let it go. The location is not right near me, so it was months before I went past again and thought it was unfair to bring it up at that point. I point this out for other dog owners. I've had this car done other places and every last hair was removed and I was blown away. To spend three times as much having it done and to not have it all removed, was very disappointing. read more

As I was getting ready to depart and typing my address in my gps (not more than 45 seconds) one of the guys was being extremely rude about me leaving although I had not been there for a long length of time. I just moved to Arlington from New Orleans, bringing along with my 2001 Xterra. This SUV has been thru it all. I have restored 9 properties hauling most of the lumber with with it. Needless to say it was pretty rough looking, faded bumpers and trim, scratches on the sides and top, and the interior...well.. lets just say it was pretty dirty. I read the good reviews on here and decided to give the place a shot. When I took it in Wallie looked it over and said, wow, this is more work than I expected, but with a smile on his face he said " I can make it look very nice". I left it with him for 2 days. When I came back I was Absolutely floored. It looks almost brand new! He cleaned it, buffed the scratches( you can still see them, but only up close). The biggest difference was in the bumpers. My bumpers had faded from black to a very light gray color after 8 years in the New Orleans heat. He painted them black and they look Fantastic! I had a coupon from his website, but since I was paying with cash he gave me a 10% discount which was better. The entire job was 600.00 with the discount and well worth it! read more

To keep a long story short I recently came to own a 2007 Acura RDX, however the cars interior was in awful shape, the previous owner had two dogs and likely never cleaned the car once. It was so bad to the point where I was unable to tell if the color of the leather seats were grey or tan. This is where Detailz came to the rescue, I called to make an appointment for noon on Saturday after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp. I did some prior research and elected to go with the gold interior package ($189) which is their most comprehensive interior package. While the price seemed a bit steep for an interior detail, the finished result proved to be worth every penny. They told me that due to how dirty the car was it would probably take all day which it did and when I returned at 5PM the interior looked BRAND NEW! The leather seats were restored to their original grey color, the mats and interior rug vacuumed and shampooed, every little nook and cranny was cleaned to perfection! I was blown away by the end result. I highly recommend Detailz to any one who needs a deep clean, this did wonders for my car, and I plan to return in the spring to get an exterior detail. read more

I get why this place gets five solid stars. We took our Rogue in for an interior detail after our rear window got smashed (perks of DC living). They took such great care of our car that when we picked it up, even the exterior looked NEW. We didn't even get the exterior detail but I think they went the extra step to polish it or something. We recently bought a car from a couple who had kids and a dog, and the interior of the car looked awful--dirt and stains everywhere (but we got a great deal). It was a light tan color, so I wasn't sure if any of it would come out and I was already shopping for seat covers in my head. We figured we would try to get the interior cleaned and just see how it came out. I was AMAZED at what Detailz was able to do. We got an appointment for the weekend after I called (just a few days' notice) to get the gold interior cleaning and used the yelp deal to save some money. When we arrived, the employee we spoke to looked over the car and let us know that they might not be able to get all of the stains out and that the detailing would take longer than they originally thought and would cost more. I appreciated that they told us up front how much more--and honestly, due to the horrendous condition of the car, I thought this might happen. They called when the car was ready (on schedule) and when we got to the car, I was speechless. It was pristine. They did an absolutely amazing job. Bought a Yelp deal: $125 for $95 worth of work. Called on Sunday morning to schedule an appointment. Told first available was 8am on Tuesday. I arrived at 7:45, but no one was there. At 8:00, Wally arrived and talked with me about whether to get the interior "silver" service (what I scheduled) or the "gold" (one level up, $64 more). He was not pushy; he just wanted to make sure I knew what I'd be getting. He even said that given the condition of my carpets, I "wouldn't notice a difference" between the two levels. I appreciated his honesty, and that he was friendly and professional. There was a point of miscommunication or misunderstanding, however, that leads me to give this place 3 stars. I chose the first time slot of the day (8am) because I wanted to get out of there asap and on with my day. I was planning to wait for the car, but didn't volunteer that information and I wasn't asked. So, when I was told that the workers wouldn't get started on my car until about 10:30 and that it wouldn't be ready until between 12 or 1pm, I was annoyed. I walked around town for 5 hours and came to pick it up around 1:30. Wally said he would call 30 mins before it was ready, and he did. The long wait wasn't really anyone's fault, but it did screw up my day. That said, everything inside the car was made to look like new. A few places were a bit greasy where they hadn't wiped off the product well enough, but other than that it looks perfect. If I had spent 5 hours myself cleaning it, it wouldn't look nearly as good. Note #1: I got an interior only cleaning. I don't have personal experience with their exterior cleaning, but the other cars in the lot looked clean and shiny at a glance. Note #2: I originally gave this place 2 stars and a much shorter review. I got a call from someone, the manager presumably, who strongly encouraged me to reconsider since Yelp reviews are "their lifeblood." Apparently he'd rather give me my money back than have that review online for others to see. read more

So, I like to think that I love my car in my own way. A lot, too. When my fiance suggested that when he moved out to Washington, DC, he should bring his car and we should "get rid of" my car, I was deeply hurt. How could he want to keep the car with a monthly payment and chuck the adorable sporty little coupe that is owned free and clear and that will run beautifully for the next 10 years? "Well, mine is just ... nicer..." Yes, he was JUST THAT disgusted with the state of my car, and I didn't really blame him. So I told him that I would get it professionally detailed, which leads me to Detailz. Detailz was amazing. We stumbled by when we were in the neighborhood on foot, and made an appointment in person for a couple days later. They were very nice and accomodating. As the other reviews have disclosed, the work was amazing - it completely 100% looks like new. The thing that really impressed me, though, is that when my fiance didn't go pick up the car right at 6pm like he said he would, they waited after hours for him until 7:30pm! I made the mistake of taking my new Lexus to a Tough Mudder race this past Fall. It turned out the parking lot was located in a dirt field. And after a full day of rain, the dirt field turned into a mud pit. EVERYONE'S car was stuck and with the help of dirty hands, I eventually got unstuck. But those dirty hands destroyed the interior of my car. There was mud up the side wall, on the visors, and on the fabric ceiling. I thought all was lost after trying to get it out on my own, so I kind of gave up. Then in the spring, a friend got some bike grease on the visor and side wall after he crashed in a race. My wife picked him up, but his greasy hands also touched the fabric, thus staining it more. This was the straw. So I sought out Detailz. I dropped off the car around 8:00 am and picked up at noon. The car looked amazing! I couldn't even tell there was mud or grease in the car in the first place. Great work. I will certainly take the car back. read more

My first review on Yelp, ever. I also used the Yelp offer to save $30 at Detailz. I just bought a new Infiniti with silver (well, "Liquid Platinum") paint. I was not interested in the type of external paint protection the dealer was offering during purchase. In addition, those options are mostly just dealer profit anyway - a very expensive warranty with a fair amount of loopholes. So I decided to go to Detailz, based on Yelp feedback, to get the paint protection applied (which is a standard part of their external detail service). Yes, I got a brand new car detailed (only the exterior), but what's $150 to protect the finish of a $45K vehicle? Results: ridiculously smooth surface, water beads up and runs off, added chip and nick protection, and bugs and bird droppings are easy to remove. Walid scheduled the appointment with no hassles, and the car was ready exactly when he said it would be (2 hours). They are located on Wisconsin Ave in the part of Georgetown with actual character (by that I mean all the little mom'n'pop businesses up and down the streets - no tourist-trapping Banana Republics and the like, not even a Starbucks!). So the 2 hours just flew by on a sunny spring day. One of the staff members (a very nice gentleman originally from Nepal) was STILL wiping the car down and obsessing over it, even as Walid walked me through their work in detail (ouch, no pun intended!). They said the treatment was good for at least 6 months since I garage my car - no hard upsells. I am thinking I could go 9 months, as I only use the car for personal reasons - no daily work commute grind. Customer service par excellence and old-fashioned pride in one's work. read more

These guys are great! I made an appointment about a week out. When I arrived, the owner was very personable and went over every inch of my car asking about what I'd like to see done. He even suggested a few options included in the package that I hadn't thought about. He called about 20 minutes before the car was done to give me ample time to arrive. When I was doing my post-detail inspection, I noticed a sticker I wanted removed and they got to it right away. They even gave me a towel to step on so as to not ruin my nice clean floor mats. My car is now more than 20 years old and has never been detailed-I just had the interior detailed (I have different plans for the exterior) and the results are amazing. This past Christmas, my partner gave me a gold auto detailing gift certificate from Detailz for my car and had been all over me to use it since. While I keep my car generally neat, over five years without a thorough cleaning ($20 drive-thru car washes don't count) had taken its toll on the car's cream colored interior and blue exterior. Somewhat ironically, he picked Detailz based on its yelp reviews and a call to the business. So today I used it. I dropped it off this morning and was not particularly expecting much more than my car would look a little cleaner than normal. When I went to get it this afternoon, I was pretty amazed. It looked as good on the interior as when I purchased it. All the crud was gone from the steering wheel and consol, the grease and soil stained carpets were spotless and the trunk, dirt stained from transporting gardening materials over the years, was clean as a whistle. The exterior was a bright, shiney blue again. Seriously, it was the striking cream interior, bright blue exterior that made me purchase the car in the first place and I had forgotten how good that looked until I picked up the car. Totally first rate. While a little difficult to find and I passed it once, it is well worth the visit. Everyone was very friendly. When my partner and I next got in the car, he said it was like my car was smiling back at us. So, I learned two things from this experience. One, I need to get my car thoroughly cleaned on a more regular basis. Two, as long as I am in the DC area, I will be using Detailz. read more
